Close to useless 2/5
By jd catmom
Notice I said close. It did manage to tell me my cat is orange. Lemons are ‘cheerful’. Quests that is close. Seems to get reds & yellows ok. But persistently identifies greens as either beige or silver. & as another person notes you can’t actually upload your own room picture to try on a color. It’s amusing but not worth the space on my phone. Gone
Everything is brown 1/5
By Bob cfii
I took a picture of an interior door that is “polar bear white” and the app said it was various shades of brown.
Love but needs a couple of changes 4/5
LOVE!!! I especially love that I can take a photo and it will find colors with in the picture to match. Perfect bc we are getting wood floors and I’d like find a wall color.
I love that I can start a strip of colors and see what it would look like in a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom & exterior of home. Plus it gives a daylight and night time exchange which is awesome and has helped in my choices so much.
Fixes I would like to see: I’d love to be able to tap on a wall to choose a different/coordinating color. Right now I can only choose one color for the entire room.
-It would be cool if I could use one of my own photos to put a color on the wall. Or maybe whatever I tapped on would change color.
-when I search for a color I do like that it also shows other colors with similar names. I want there to be an option so it would take me to the color I want on the “explore color” screen so I can look at surrounding colors.
All in all this is a great & useful app!
It’s good but.. 3/5
It would be a better app if the sample options had more than just white woodwork and trim. Some of us are stuck for, the time being, with honey oak or cherry. I’d like to see my color choices with something other than just white.
Wish I could give a 0. App does not work. You download a picture but can not paint on it. Complete waste of time.
Not iPad compatible 1/5
Not at all usable with iPad. Displays too large so parts of pages are unreadable.
Doesn't work 1/5
I just went to Lowe's and got a color palette book. Wanted to see what the color would look like on a house. NONE of the colors exist in the app. The app is hard to navigate (and I WORK in tech). The Color Visualizer on their website is more of the same. Do not recommend.
Doesn’t recognize and match its own SW colors 1/5
Took multiple photos of varying light of just a wall of SW paint and the app never matched the paint or even identified the same color palette.
By Willy Plummer
The IG ad made this app seem like it does something other than it does, which was a great idea. Instead this app is boring and unhelpful.
False advertisement. If I would have read the reviews versus what was falsely advertised I wouldn’t have downloaded app. Bought a new house and wanted to see if the colors would look nice. No go! They have a preloaded picture for you to use instead of using a picture of your own room. Can’t even upload a photo of the room I want to paint to even get a better idea. Will continue to go with the old school route-get swatch colors of interest and put them up on a wall to narrow it done. Then get the sample paints of each and make a foolproof decision from that. This method never fails for me.
Not as it appears 2/5
By color me fooled
I downloaded the app because it appeared you could take a picture of your room and use the app to choose and color and and see what the color looks like in the photo of your room. that's not what it does. Disappointed.
Not worth the download 1/5
If you want this to paint your room, this is not the app for you. It doesn't give that option on this iPhone version.
Love it! 4/5
It took time to figure out how to use it, & it's great. My only complaint is that there is so much white in the sample rooms that it overwhelms the color I want to see. And some of the rooms have very little wall space & big furniture. Please show more paint!
The photo doesn't match the item 1/5
I tried to find colors of my couch and no matter what picture I use, the interface doesn't match correctly. It's a grey couch. No blue in it at all. Every time I try to match, it only gives me blue and white options. It's bad.
I love this app so much! 5/5
We are in the process of restoring a farmhouse so apps like this really come in handy.
I also used the Sherwin Williams color wheel a few years ago while living in Dallas I painted my entire apartment! Fun!
Where's the camera for painting my own room?? 2/5
App is a bit clunky to navigate but my biggest problem is I can't find where I can 'paint' my own room! That's why I downloaded it to begin with!
Not very intuitive and can't show you your room 2/5
You cannot choose a color and see it in the walls of your own room in a photo. Only on the sample room photo. It's also not very intuitive to use. At all.
Don't use this app! 1/5
Used this app to select the color of the trim on our house being built. Totally wrong color, cost us around a thousand dollars. The color on the app did not even come close to the actual Sherwin Williams color.
Don't know how to use it.
Took a picture of my room and try to see it in a different color but it changes the picture that is at the bottom of the app.
Can't even match its own paint chips! 1/5
By Frustrated Mel13
I was hoping this app would help pick paint colors without having to knock on people's doors and ask if they know what paint color is on their house. I wanted to try out it's accuracy so I tried it out on paint chips at my local Sherwin Williams store. No luck on any I tried! I think that needs to be fixed. It really should be able to pick up the color on your own paint chips.
This app is deceiving and makes it look like you can take a picture of your room and then change the wall colors and trim etc. that is not this app! You take a pic of your room and then it tells you the colors in that room. What's the point in that?
Huge huge waste of time and iPhone space 1/5
I saw an add that showed taking a pic of your room and adding a color to your wall to see how it looks. THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE ON THIS APP, NOT POSSIBLE AT ALL. I spent a lot more time I care to admit trying to figure out this app before coming to the reviews and seeing that nearly everyone had the same impression I did and could not add colors to their own rooms either
This app literally just inaccurately tells me what color different things in my room are... for example it judges my baby blue room as a charcoal gray.
False Advertising at its Finest 1/5
The ad makes it appear that you can try out colors on your walls... no dice. It has cool features, I will say that, but I only downloaded it because of the feature that was implied.
I got the app bc it said I could take a pic and use a color on the walls to see if it looks good. This app doesn't have that feature.
Use IPAD Only App! 5/5
This app does work if you use it on your phone, but you can not picture in your wall in the phone app. Only the iPad app can you use a photo of your house. I used it on my iPad and it works wonderfully.
Don't use this to match pre-existing Sherwin Williams colors. 1/5
We've used Sherwin Williams paint exclusively since we built our home. They keep records of the paint colors on file for us. Today we went in and the guy couldn't find them (new guy). He said just use the app. Well I used it on 2 walls that I still have the cans for, so I know the exact color names. The app doesn't not work. It pulled up colors that are way different. I tried using lots of light, flash, etc. nothing close is pulled up. Tricorn black should be easy and it didn't even match that one. Good luck. I'm not going with their suggestions.
You may ask how it works. IT DOESN'T 1/5
The app is false advertisement, it doesn't work, and is a piece of trash. Don't download this.
Worst app ever. 1/5
Nothing about this app is smart or easy to use. Unbelievable difficult and unhelpful.
I love this app 5/5
By Emily Nolin
I adore this app. I am very deliberate about apps on my phone. I am so minimal with them. I am moving to Asheville with my family and I am in charge of the color so I am looking for perfect paints. I went to Sherwin Williams today and found the color chips that I liked; I had already downloaded this app. I am blown away with the way that this works. It is so amazing. It gives you such a good idea of the way the colors will look in the rooms. Between going into the store and using this app, I have VERY EASILY, VERY ENJOYABLY found colors that I adore for our rooms in our new home. This is exactly the way I envisioned apps-- practical, useful, easy-to-use, leading-edge, enjoyable and fun. This has been a pleasure to use and has helped me so much in my move. I love this app and it's a value to this store, ensuring just another reason for customers to use SW paint. Thank you!!!
Does not work as advertised 1/5
Doesn't let you take a pic and apply colors as it states.
I thought it would be a easy as taking a photo, tap the area on the photo, then type in the color code I liked from the store, the the image would change to that color. Nope not at all. Deleted this one sorry.
It's ok, but... 3/5
By Tim the typer
It's kind of cool the way it can pick out the colors, but it apparently doesn't do what I really wanted, which is to change the colors in my pic to the palette of the example pic. Know what I mean, Vern?
Thank goodness it's free because does not work at all.
Ugh!! Time waster that leave me frustrated and without paint from this company!! 1/5
App is hard to navigate. I thought it might be just me, so I had tech-savvy 24 yr old try it. She, too, said it was aggravating and not intuitive.
I had big dreams of "painting" my pics of the rooms in my home for which I am choosing paint colors. That is what the ad for this app promised as well as several DYI shows who promoted this app. But NO!!!
I can't find the area within the app the has this feature, and after reading other reviews looking for help, I may not have access to this feature.
I'm using an iPad. I switched to using the app on it when the app on my iPhone would not allow me to test paint my own pics. I guess it's up to my imagination if a color will look good or not. Or, I could use a different paint that has an app that delivers on its promise.
This app was very helpful. I was having trouble finding the right color for an accent wall. I used this app to match the colors in a rug I love, and the suggested paint looks great!
Why Don't people like it 5/5
By Wordo X
I believe this app is great. And also very helpful and I don't know why people don't like it
Picks out 5/5
No idea why the bad reviews. This app allows you to sample colors from photos and creates a palette using Sherwin-Williams paint colors.
For example, I had a picture I had saved in which I just loved the color palette. All I did was upload the photo to the app, and it helped me match the colors in the photo to the available paint colors.
Useless App 1/5
By Susan Disappointed
In the store they said I could take a picture of my house and use this app to apply a color to it so I could see what it would look like. They were WRONG!!! This app does nothing but look at colors on your phone. Period. But they get your information that you need to enter in order to load the app. Don't do it.
Hard to navigate 1/5
Can't figure out how to upload my own photo and then add new color to it like they did on The Today Show. Annoying.
Don't waste your time 1/5
By Taco Tati
I don't know, maybe this app is good on tablet, but on iPhone it just doesn't work. I can't use needed options.
Doesn't work on iPhone 2/5
I've tried taking a picture of my own room but no luck!
Not what was described 1/5
I saw this app on The Today Show yesterday morning and it said you could take a picture of the space you wanted to paint and try different colors. It does none of that! That's the ONLY reason I downloaded this app. So I will be deleting.
Don't get this 1/5
By Jenn Has Teh Chive
This does not work as advertised. If I could give it less than a star I would. Now they have my email for advertisement and I didn't even receive the product I wanted. Save yourself the time and try something else. I'm purposely avoiding sherwin Williams paint for the rest of my life. #BEHRWINS
Not what they described on KLG and Hoda. 1/5
There was a Sherwin Williams rep on TV this morning who described all sorts of amazing features for the ColorSnap app. The iPhone version does NONE of those things. The iPad version does, however, but the is no laptop version. So to re-color your own rooms or photos, you must have a tablet. Maybe they'll add that feature to the phone version some day, but it does not have it now.
All this app lets you do is get the name of a color you've already used or found online somewhere.
GREAT APP! 5/5
And folks in the store are helpful.
Cannot save color 1/5
It does not allow me to save paint colors. I, too, thought I could take a picture of a room and see it with the color I choose. It does not let me do that. This app is not easy to navigate.
I love this app! 5/5
This lets me explore color so easily.
When I needed to find a color to paint trim that would go around wood shelfs, I was able to find exactly what I needed to make the entire project look built in.
I have explored all the colors in a tapestry that allows me to find something I would like to use on the wall that the tapestry will hang on.
Worst app ever 1/5
By Disappointed donna
I thought I could choose a color and have it put into a picture of the area I was going to paint.
Not really sure what this app's purpose is other than to frustrate people.
No type of help instructions.
This app does not work. Thought it would allow me to take a picture of a room and let me see it in the color I selected. Does not do that.
Color-matched colors via pictures of swatches from another brand. Left the painters to complete the job while I was on vacation. My entire house is now painted the color matched colors...the wrong colors.
