I have been using Epocrates for many years! This App is a life savior for time and is convenient! You cannot go wrong with this App.

Epocrates is my go to App because it is clear and concise and to the point and I can find what I need quickly.
I also have another App that is very thorough and shows you studies etc... but personally when I’m taking care of patients I don’t have time to read a study- I need clear, simple and quick answers and that is what Epocrates offers. I’ve used it since NP school and haven’t found anything else that I like better.
I’ve worked in the primary care/urgent care setting. The only thing that I would want that Epocrates doesn’t offer (I don’t believe) is A little more info on IV drugs for instance “this should be a slow push over 2 minutes”... obviously we don’t do that in an outpatient setting but when I worked in the hospital those extra tips would have been helpful- I would feel like Epocrates truly had it all of they added that!
I have been using Epocrates for years. Even on iPhone 10 it is SLOW. annoyingly SLOW

I’m using this app and it has been great for me. The only thing I hate about this app is the newsfeeds I often get to see first while I’m in a hurry.
I need Epocrates to practice medicine 5/5
I rely heavily on Epocrates for drug/drug interactions, pill IDs to show to patients to help ID pills, medication dosages/indications, etc. Epocrates is why I have to have a smart phone!
Great app but for the las few months it intermittently/randomly freezes the homepage when opening the app. I’m unable to type or tap on anything. Reloading the app after closing it doesn’t fix it.
I pay for the annual subscription.
Frustrating at times.
Otherwise it’s great.
I am a pediatrician and I rely on Epocrates every day to check medication dosing for children. I also find your tables very helpful. Recommendations for antibiotics appropriate to particular diseases or bacteria is very useful too. This is the one medical app I never want to be without!

I use this A LOT as a resident physician. Only complaint is I hate the pop up screen that comes up at the beginning of each day. I’m in a hurry and don’t have time t get rid of the news feed.

As a pharmacist, this is an app that I find essential in my practice. I use it every day in some way- dosage calculations, dosage guide, quick interaction check, pill ID, etc, etc. It is just a quick reference check to have right in my pocket if I'm away from the computer. I love it!!
Good app except for ads 4/5
I use Epocrates every day but would prefer fewer ads to negotiate past.
I used to be able to quickly review data and even pricing estimates. Not sure what happened but now the app takes on average 10-20 seconds to load, and pricing seems to be consistently unavailable. No, it’s not the phone as all other apps load promptly. Also, when it finally does load it then jumps into the notifications screen then takes another 10-20 seconds to return to the main program. Meanwhile, the Medscape app which I now use much more loads in 3-5 seconds. If you’re reading this a word to the wise, if the paid version of this app is as slow and cumbersome as the free version consider using another app.

Suggest improve drug interaction checker and provide more detail on dose reductions etc.
Make other databases ie for herbal and nutraceuticals available for free.

I am currently in FNP school and this app has been a tremendous help in patho and pharmacology. One of the things I would like to see included is an area designated for patient teaching and pharmacodynamics.

This app is a great tool to have. I ended up buying a subscription during my first few months of 3rd year medical school and I use it every day. It has great info and is pretty easy to use and find what you are looking for. I agree with the previous reviews for opening up the app loads notifications before selecting the home icon is kinda annoying but it’s not a huge deal for me. I can’t speak highly enough about this app and I see doctors who have been practicing using this app to look up some things too.

Always freezes, especially on mobile data. Have emailed support and they don't seem to care. I have been using for 9 years. Most likely not renewing.
Also, stop forcing loading of the news feed.

Excellent tool. I use it daily. Only inconvenience is when adding a new drug into the interaction screen it usually does not respond when toutching the (+) sign on the upper left hand of the screen.
I had thought it was a problem with my iphone screen but I took it over to the iphone people and my screen is ok.
So maybe if epocrates can correct that bug in the application the tool becomes awesome.

I’ve been using Epocrates since medical school. It used to be a useful, quick reference. Nowadays, I find I’m always having to click out of the newsfeed or the app is freezing to the point of uselessness at least a few times per week. When it works well, it’s still an excellent resource, but I find myself utilizing Up-to-Date and AAFP resources more and more.
I have used Epocrates for several years now and have found it to be a very useful resource in my clinical practice. There is one feature, however, that was recently taken away and that was the differential diagnosis. That was one feature Epocrates had that was different from the rest. I now find myself using UpToDate more and it is provided free by my employer. When my subscription is up for renewal, I can’t guarantee I will be renewing again this year.
Annoying newsfeed and developers don’t care 1/5
I’ve previously addressed the newsfeed popping up first thing when opening the app as have others in the reviews. Developers have 100% ignored the users request. For some reason it seems they’re under the impression people use the app for news and quizzes First and for reference Second. I have plenty of other sources that I will use first for cme and news before Epocrates. I want a reference app that’s quick to open and use- and I don’t want to get stuck waiting for a delayed-newsfeed to open across the whole screen. Either disable the full screen popup or give an in-app settings switch that lets users disable it once and for all.
Can't copy text. Other medical apps allow this.
Text too small. Does not use system fonts.
Crashes on start up when internet connection is bad.
You know, the point of an app is to make things easier than the website.

I use the app mainly for the differential diagnosis generator but I don’t see it anymore with the latest update
I love the concept of epic rates but hate the pop ups. Worse than the pop ups are the mandatory updates that need to happen when I’m with a patient. What’s the point? I end up relying on other software.
Forced “news” feed annoying 3/5

I do not find news feed useful. Being forced to view the articles is annoying. The drug information is indispensable.

This app is good, and I’ve only had one complaint until today. The one complaint I’ve always had is the notifications page that automatically pops up every time I open the app. This is frustrating because there are already alerts in the app to tell you that you have new notifications (which I don’t use for anything anyway), and you have to wait for it to pop up to then have the option to close it out and get on with what you opened the app to look up. It just adds annoying extra clicks and takes extra time when you’re trying to get to something fast. The new annoyance with the app is that they are doing away with the DDx feature this month. This feature has been a constant go to for me in school for certain assignments, and our teachers even encouraged us to get the app to be able to use this feature at the beginning of our first year because it would come in so handy for some of the things they want us to do. Such a disappointment that they are suddenly getting rid of this. I turned to this app a lot over other apps because of this feature throughout school and still today, but I guess I will be rethinking my subscription to this app when I have others like it now.
Beware falsification of credentials hack 1/5
Several years ago I registered with this company and noticed my credentials were wrong raising questions by my employers. Epocrates blamed it on the AMA. The AMA had my correct credentials. Not sure what game they are playing so I closed my account.
Recently I stupidly registered with them again to try this app again, and their site could not recognize my credentials. I then noticed on Google that my credentials were changed by numerous web sites to incorrect listings again. Clearly these “ratings” sites are in cahoots ( buying or sharing)with epocrates being given or creating false credentials by epocrates and then putting them on Google search indicating a person is not a physician.
Epocrates is either deliberately falsifying credentials or unable to correct their incorrect information. I just signed up with them after years of complaints and within weeks my false information reappeared on Google.
Think Facebook is bad, beware of your information if you voluntarily provide this company your credentials.
I contacted them to erase my credentials and was told their would be no definite time frame and I should my lawyers contact their lawyers.
Beware what to whom they are selling your info and if it is at all correct. May require a class action lawsuit for them to take this seriously.
Great resource at the bedside 5/5
I frequently turn to Epocrates for drug interactions - it is quite helpful. It is also helpful for quickly reviewing medications I am not familiar with. The other portions -Guidelines, ICD-10 and Disease References are also quite helpful on the fly. It is my go to reference in the room with patients.

Can get better with the full version. Would like them to be able to transfer favorites and notes when you get a new device or among devices. Had to upgrade my phone and lost my favorites and notes that I had stored in medication notes.

I am a resident physician and I rely on Epocrates heavily for my daily duties. I am already a paid user, and I was ok with that because of how useful the app is so I didn’t mind. It always bothered me that the first screen is always the newsfeed. I would like to be able to access whatever section I want without so many taps on the screen. But to add insult to injury, And what I do mind, is the introduction of “new mandatory ads” of certain “app sponsors” that pop up when I first open the app. As if what I am already paying as a user is not enough, and in order for the “new ads” to go away, I have to pay more. I would prefer the developers increasing the general subscription fee rather than introducing the ridiculous ads that pop up in the welcome screen or even introducing the higher category subscription. It is just so counterproductive and it takes an awful lot of time to get to what I want now with so many taps. More and more I am opting to use different apps like lexicomp, for which my institution offers a free of charge subscription, minus all the ads of course.

Was one of my favs. Now the login screen does not allow pasting password from security products like 1Pass (must type them in which precludes using complex passwords) then fails to login, falsely claiming "no internet connection." Bring back the old version!

I am physician. I have used the free version as my go-to information source on medications, Med interactions, Adverse effects, mechanisms of action, and drug interactions. It was great to begin with but they keep improving it. Better and easier to use.
They make it nearly impossible to turn off auto renewal
