The Guardian: News & Opinion app reviews

  • Tremendous Journalism 5/5

    By Northern boy56601
The Guardian is everything the free press was meant to be. I am proud to support them.
  • A terrible app 1/5

    By DavidFoster
Disguised as news, this app makes it nearly impossible to select and lookup a word in its stories. Amidst a maddening, never-ending solicitation for money, I suggest relegating this woefully inept app to your garbage.
  • Guardian news 5/5

    By auntie ana
I love reading your articles. Always informative & accurate.
  • Best factual news 5/5

    By tenaj42
As a avid news reader I can honestly say the Guardian is the best ,most accurate and least biased news outlet by far.
  • Guardian app - solid reading 4/5

    By oe1959
Quite useful to glance at news on phone. I find it well designed, with good navigation, and responsive. I wish it were more evident which version of the paper the articles belong to - UK or USA. As a resident of New York, I prefer the U.K. version as an outside point of view.
  • Guardian Scope 5/5

    By HapKlein
I keep informed mostly by Newspaper sources. I open the Guardian early on the basis of the wide spread of news that is covered. The international information is always accurate and vague points are noted not passed over. Accuracy and dependability are my guides to information providers and I appreciate the Guardian for both!
  • An outside of USA point of view 5/5

    By Albj17
Very good source of world news. I like having a source outside of the often insular view from US sources.
  • Best investigative journalism 5/5

    By ohjayece
I always learn the important back stories because of the Guardian’s thorough reporting.
  • Rating the Guardian 5/5

    By hahammami
The Guardian proves daily that it is one of the best, clearest and most up-to-date reliable news sources.
  • A fresh breath 5/5

    By Proff55
The journalists of the Guardian are very careful to differentiate between fact and opinion. These journalists are very careful to cite their sources so that they can be verified independently. It is a stark contrast between American media like Fox.
  • Unbiased News 5/5

    By Karendb
Read if you want to truly know what is going on in our country.
  • Like to read the investigative pieces 5/5

    By Jannal6
Thank you for the series on homelessness and killer cops. This American appreciates that the Brits are willing to report on the dark side of the USA. The fact is, the streets are not paved with gold for most of us.

  • Utility 5/5

    By l'AlpedHuez
Simply the most comprehensive, courageous and valuable daily I have ever encountered. I urge everyone to cherish it.
  • A great paper 5/5

    By Obi05
I am an American, but I read the the Guardian everyday. It covers the most important U.S. stories in an unbiased way, but I have also found interesting and important items that may not even be reported here in the States. It also provides a far better international perspective than almost all American papers.
  • Real News to counter Real Fakes 5/5

    By Periscope
Stereo vision requires two clear eyes to see the real world to understand perspective. Cover one eye and the world is flat. You no longer can see clearly how things relate to each other. The Guardian can be counted on for the necessary perspective to see and understand relationships & details to make better decisions. Read & see!
  • Don’t bother unless you plan to subscribe 2/5

    By Chris_VA
Expert to be asked to subscribe in every story. I deleted it within 10 minutes...
  • Worth the subscription to keep unbiased reporting available to us. 5/5

The only paper/online source I trust.
  • Great Information 5/5

I appreciate the Guardian’s through and diverse work.
  • I like the journalism just fine, thanks 5/5

    By 99uniform
2019 jan 6: It has been little over a year since i wrote the older review below and still feel the same. I do have one question, is it more beneficial to anyone by my becoming a subscriber versus keeping my current annual supporter status? What’s different? Older review: After having used the free app for about a year, decided to become an annual supporting member. Revenues generated go back into the journalism and not into any extraneous bells and whistles. (I do not consider providing for a web presence extraneous, these days it becomes a necessity.) I suppose it is my way of supporting the Free Press.
  • A better source of news and opinion 5/5

    By 9robins
I think it’s a nose ahead of two eminent sources of American journalism the Washington Post & The NY Times, for these reasons. (1) It provides a wider global perspective, which American papers tend to overlook. (2) It covers matters British. The UK might consist of ~1.3 small islands, but the United States and the UK remain linked by centuries of history, customs, and values. (3) It gives us Americans a perspective on ourselves and our country that comes from outside our self-absorption. Those of us who try to be well-informed need all three perspectives.

  • Not one day 5/5

    By Oregon boy in LA
Not one day goes by without my consulting the only news source I trust with very little hesitation as an American: The Guardian. Since my days as a graduate student in the UK it has been with me wherever I go in the world. I don’t even want to think about where we would be without it.
  • My first stop for news 5/5

    By Paul56Mo
The Guardian’s format took a small step backward with the latest redesign about a year ago, but I think it is still among the best. Well worth the small subscription price to get it ad free on my phone. Content remains among the most current and comprehensive available.

The world’s a rough place and the Guardian doesn’t flinch from reporting its news, good, bad, or terrible. Also, the app is polished as hell. 5/5, did subscribe.

  • Guardian Essential Free Press Voice 5/5

    By Ohiofairfood
We look to the Guardian for free, unbiased news of events in the US and around the world. As citizens in democracies, we all need clear and unbiased reporting to hold our elected representatives to account and to understand the challenges we all face moving ahead in troublesome times.
  • Better than a Web site 5/5

    By Morris de Oryx
The Guardian app is so good it’s better than the Web site. It’s the only news I read outside of a browser.

  • Can count on 5/5

    By artcomposter
The Guardian never lets me down. It brings me the headlines I am looking for. It covers the U S better than the US papers.
  • Great foreign source for US political news 5/5

    By Nickcinn
I have been reading this source for several years. Non-bias with an open eye and a broader view of what’s happening in American politics. Wish they would run another special subscription price again because I would love to support them financially.
  • Great News Source 5/5

    By Shiner2
Voluntary, no paywall financial support is a great idea. Thanks, Brits! Best news in America!!
  • Timely and relavent 5/5

    By talan13
love the perspective that the Guardian brings without being stuffy

    By farmerlawyer
The Guardian is the first place I go to find unbiased and oligarch-free news that is without influence from corporate special interests. I also read (and have read) the WaPo for over 15 years and recently (6mo) ago added TG to my reading list. Stories are concise, editing is top notch, and background is thorough. It’s now the first publication I read daily.
  • Best news 5/5

    By Chef Slay
I read it seven days a week I never miss it.
  • The best! 5/5

    By partialparalysis
    Love the guardian!!!
  • Guardian political news. 5/5

    By Old Jacque
The Guardian is a great alternative news source for political news in the USA and in the UK.
  • Extreme Bias, Unsubstantiated Journalism 1/5

    By Cheeezus Christ
I read the Gaurdian for 4 years but finally had to say enough. Their OpEds attempt to silence free speech through virtue signaling and shaming(Final Straw was Benjamin Lee and Arwah Mahdawi, writers I will make effort to avoid from this point on). Actual news articles are extremely biased and jump to conclusions. Back to BBC and NPR I suppose.
  • Par Excellence 5/5

    By Schankins
Excellent journalism and a great app to navigate through the stories.
  • Increased pop ups 2/5

    By h-232
Great news, good app, well organized. But... since the last update, the exact same “Germany Works” advertisement continually pops up, sometimes 2-3 times per story read and nearly always without my touching the ad (accidentally); this ad even interrupts my reading of the ‘subscribe to the Guardian Premium’ app page. This bug is unfortunate because it makes using the free version of this news app nearly impossible and I dread switching news reports just to be free from this one, single, pestilent ad. It is insane and thoughtless.
