Other payment options 2/5
I echo the sentiments of that previous rating about how the app is great but you can really only take advantage of the knowledge if you are willing to pay. For students like me it’s tough to cough up a one time payment of 70 dollars but a monthly fee of 6 bucks is OK. If you could offer an option where we could just pay per month that would be helpful and you might get more subscriptions that way.
Hoping you consider this,
Good idea that deserves support 5/5
This is an awesome app because you are exposed to a good summary of books and get a gist about the topics but also can decide if you want to read the entire book. I really like the idea for this app. I wish I could help support the writers with a paid subscription. I have the link of my goodreads account for people to see this app as a thank you to these creators. This is a great app for finding and sparking your interest. It's nice to be exposed to a lot of different topics and read things you normally wouldn't. As an example, I learned about the signs of autism which is useful and I found a great book on zen. You can tell the summarizers put their effort into this which is why I wish I could subscribe! Anyway, check out this app if you're interested in learning new things and want to see different books. Thank you Blinkist writers!! 🙂 📚🙃🙏
The narration on the majority of these are like they're explaining an amazing discovery about how the world works to 1st graders. Typically people already know about these things written in the books and they're mostly just good reminders and points we may not be consciously thinking about. It would be nice if the narrators didn't act like they were personally changing your life into some magical dream world.
Problem with searching 3/5
Nice work, BUT I have a problem with searching. When I type the exact title of book that it’s summary available at Blinkist, there us nothing appear!
As advertised! This is fantastic and for less than $7/month you get access to a library of condensed data and knowledge. Absolutely great!
App doesn't work in free trial mode 1/5
By Eve in Austin
Scammy af. The app simply doesn't work in free trial mode. I tried many times. This app seems like a great idea but if you can't use a free trial for an $80 annual service, how do you know if it works well enough to justify that money???
Subpar summaries 3/5
I have read a couple of the books that I have read blinks of. I have found that important concepts are missing in the blinks from the book. For instance, the book 7 habits of highly successful people completely skipped the circle of influence concept, a major premise of the book. Similarly rich dad poor dad did not mention the different ways parents of differing financial statuses raise and fiscally train their children, a central premise of the book.
I am disappointed and will not renew my membership despite enjoying the blinks. I know I am missing the central premises of the books summarized. Hopefully I notice a change in the next 12 months.
A feature I would enjoy but that does not influence my rating would be the option to expand an interesting concept. Sometimes I want to know more, and the summary is too brief.
Overall I think Blinkist is a great concept, and will probably improve over time, if it does, I will maintain my subscription! For now I have another 11 months to explore summaries, that to date, don’t quite hit the mark
What you will remember after reading a book 5/5
I purchased this app because of the advertisement on the Ben Shapiro show. His description "get the main points from a book in 15 minutes, basically after you read a book the most you remember is 15 minutes worth of info.". I love it and use it daily
It does not works sometimes 3/5
Hi there blinko team. I really like this app well done guys. But, sometimes books does not open so i delete the app and reinstall it to get a healthy app. What happens? And how to solve it?
This app is a liberal, leftist tool. 1/5
This app promoted a Black Lives Matter book, and we all know that BLM promotes violence. When I complained and asked for a refund, and I was just given a lecture and told to read a Barrack Obama book and they didn’t cancel my subscription
Love the content, please improve the app 3/5
By Chaoyu yang
Love the content and the concept, more than happy to pay for it. But the app UX is really bad now. Lots of UI are flaky and confusing, and it doesn’t work with the iOS control panel or my headphone to pause and start. Will unsubscribe this time until you fix the issue I mentioned above.
Convenient information 5/5
By Aso North
Will continue to use this service as long as it exists. Really hopeful this only becomes more popular allowing blinkist to grow and offer even more books.
CHANGE YOUR LIFE! 5/5
So fast. Much easier to get through your BEDSIDE TABLE READING! Build your brain!
Would like an expanded library for what I pay 4/5
Excellent summaries and the audio feature is great for commuters. Would like to see an expanded library and a few more contemporary titles.
By Elite detail
Great app, and I don’t understand why there’s people out there surprised that they have to pay for something. Have you ever operated business nothing is free. They have to pay to keep their business open. They have expenses they have to pay for example for the people that do the audio portion along with probably 100 other people or more. Besides you do get one free audio every day, which is perfect for me so for now the free version is great and if I ever decide to upgrade I’m OK with that too. Thank you for the great app!
Beat it into my head 5/5
This is just what I needed to stay fresh. Who has time to completely re-read or re-listen to an entire book? ...much less 100's of books?
Upgrading to premium leads to bugs galore 1/5
By Seth Combs
I loved using Blinkist basic, which is one free blink per day. I loved it so much that I bought a year subscription for unlimited blinks and highlighting capabilities.
DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE IF YOU WANT TO HIGHLIGHT ANYTHING.
This app freezes at least 70% of the time I try to highlight. Support got back to me but they weren't able to do anything except apologize.
Thought this was a good idea but.. 1/5
Downloaded the app. Saw an option for 12.99 per month so deleted the annual subscription right away. After doing that no more monthly option. Too risky. Could not even try reading something in the trial to try it out.
By Unorganized traveler
It allows me to learn and hear a succinct but thorough summaries of books I have had on my list to read and new books that I hadn't put on my list yet. I listen to them enough.
Love the Blinks! 4/5
Easy and short reads. Topics that are helpful and resourceful. Great reads for someone like me that loves to learn but is limited on time!!
Need Apple Watch version 3/5
By Sean King Sean
Could be very useful when running with the book
Books are too short to mean anything 1/5
By Amro n
I thought Blinkist sounded interesting and paid for a month's subscription. I started reading a few books, but found all of them to be terrible reading experiences. An average book has been distilled to about 10 pages or so of content - which is so short that all meaning has been reduced to gibberish. I tried reading Daniel Coleman's Emotional Intelligence, and you could tell that if Blinkist stopped trying to hard to squeeze the book into fifteen minutes they might be able to probe a little deeper into the meaning of the book, but as the content stood it was meaningless. Wouldn't recommend this service.
Great app!! 5/5
By Calm dumb
This app is awesome. I can now read all the books I es wanted to without send all the time I did t want to.
Quick easy helpful information 5/5
By improving you
This app provides you with quick easy to understand and apply to your daily life ideas. I recommend to anyone trying to increase the value/quality of life. Anyone speaking to improve their life.
Wow!!! Glad I didn’t listen to the negative feedback 5/5
I wanted to read summaries of great books because I just don’t have the time for long texts. But I saw there were so many one star reviews so I stayed away. Then I decided to read the one star review. They were either 1. Why doesn’t this app offer free content or 2. Why don’t I get a refund for canceling early?
Jeez people! The policies are clearly state and they have to make money somehow. Otherwise people would purchased a 5 dollars a month service and copy all the content.
Love this app. It’s great to fit a bit between classes.
Awesome way to read books 5/5
Good, brief appetizers 5/5
Having read some of the books that have come through on the daily feed I know that the Blinkist isn't comprehensive of all the points a book makes. But it DOES excise all the stories, examples, case studies and such that I often skip over to get the meat of the book quickly. Plus, these information snacks help me know if I want to read the full book. I'm a fan.
Step your game up BLINKEST 1/5
So. It seems that, just like everyone else that was trusting enough to believe you can still get something for free, I as well, was reminded how inaccurate that naivety so often is. I did so this time using BLINKEST's app, in a matter of moments. You guys represent the philosophy of empowerment through information, yet offer none. Thanks for summarizing the fact that your app is a complete & total waste of time, unless of course, you, as someone interested in a free app, is willing to drop some coin. So to summarize, if you've got money to throw away, to ha ve things summarized for you, either hire a personal data, or systems analyst, or, if you don't have that kind of money, like myself, I'd strongly recommend that you get a readers digest subscription. Needless to say, investing with these cons is unadvisable at best. Hears an idea BLINKEST, start offering up a dozen free articles, once a week, to non-paying members. Who knows? You may even get yourself a summarized good review that wasn't the only one clearly written by yourself. I'd say one of your employees, but let's keep things on the level. The fact that my current qualm is your complete misrepresentation in the non-existent free service you're advertising here. Other than that Bravo! Excellent app. I'd give it 43 stars if that was possible... out of 1000 obviously.
30 day refund doesn't apply to app 1/5
The advertised 30 day money back guarantee only applies to website purchases and not to any purchase made on apple or google app stores. This is frustrating and a rip off.
Stop the bleeding! 1/5
Bottom line: Pay $80 right now or $13 a month for as long as you want. Sure, I'll just add that to the kindle unlimited and audible monthly payments, just to name 2, and I'll just work to read
App is frustrating 1/5
I love this product and find it incredibly useful. But the app requires login every time you open it. And it crashes every time you login. I'd just leave the app be if I could listen to the audio Blinks on the web app, but alas, they are mobile only. Help!
Poor and bad 1/5
By Srdjan Stevic
It doesn't allow me to create account on the phone unless I connect it to my FB account. I do not want that. So - uninstall.
Great way to read books in 15 minutes! 5/5
Having been a subscriber for almost two years, Blinkist does a great job summarizing Books-in-Blinks in digital or audio form. On top of that, their customer service is amazing! No matter how big or small an issue you may have, they're always quick to get back with you and have gone above and beyond more than once!
No stars 1/5
Don't bother downloading this junk unless you are planning on subscribing. There is no such thing as the free plan. There is no way to find, download or locate daily reads. Sob when they say that in the app it doesn't exist.
The feature is as advertised, but... 3/5
By Finally famous let's go
If you sign up for a free trial and enter your payment method, you WILL be charged $79.99 after the 7 day trial period. If you are willing to take that risk, check it out, it's a decent app and it does what they advertise. I don't appreciate the opt-out $80 auto-purchase, so overall I wouldn't recommend.
Did any of the readers actually READ these books? These are some of the most misguided and careless summaries I've ever read.
Outstanding App. 4/5
Little by little these blinks keep me on top of subjects which I rarely have time to visit. I'm seeing myself reading more now than in many years. I really that. Willie E.
Really enjoying this 4/5
Love the simple "play all with restart" ability.
Flaky app with frequent interruptions 2/5
By mas90guru ct
This app frequently stops midstream reporting connection issue. However other apps on my phone work just fine.
The free trial is a SCAM 1/5
Don't fall for it!
I thought I'd give this app a try but when i signed up for the trial I was automatically charged for the entire subscription. I canceled the free trial and still after four attempts at working with Support have not received a refund. I didn't even wait until the free trial period was over! As soon as I saw that I was charged for the entire subscription I tried to cancel the trial. They told me I had to get my refund from Apple support. What a bunch of shysters!
Huge time saver? 5/5
I want to say it's a huge time saver, but really, I'm simply getting summaries of far more books in the same amount of time.
How many times have you ploughed through a tedious, non-fiction book only to finish and think, "Well, that could have been summarized on a tri-fold pamphlet!"
This app and service is the answer to that frustration.
Can't access unless on Facebook? 1/5
I can't access the app unless I am on Facebook (not) or an already signed up email of which there is no menu to sign up. Also, isn't this a Cliff Notes knock off idea? For kids, Cliff Notes is yesteryear, the same thing Blink is touting.
Recent Update is Buggy 3/5
I've been a subscriber for a couple years. I like the app, but recent update is very buggy. It freezes every time I make a highlight.
Not useful 1/5
Audio only allow 1.5 max speed, I can hear faster, up to 3
Book selection is only ok
It is only a one day trial.
It's very effective tool but needs some touches up 4/5
By omar alhamed
I would suggest to add some figures for conceptual frame works, model and illustrative diagram. This it would give more powerful condensed knowledge. Picture worths thousands words.
Love! Love! Love! 5/5
By Miss M45
Use this almost everyday. I find it very helpful, in that I can use it to evaluate a book I'm thinking of buying. It's saved me money and time!
Thank you for creating this tool!!
Worth it 4/5
By Mo cycles
I'm really enjoying Blinkist. I'm super busy with kids and work which makes time for reading difficult. I can get an over view of a book and then if I really like it I can buy the book. Worth every penny!
