Bluefire Reader app reviews

  • Romance not to be missed 5/5

    By lovleelorraine
When I first started reading the book I thought oh no another Cinderella type story. And then I realize this is one of my favorite authors. She did not disappoint. A wonderful story with suspenseful characters. Yes there was romantic sex and the Author held it back into a waiting for it. By that time you really stand up and cheer. Or wish you had someone sitting next to you to share the romantic sexual moments. A true love story not to be missed
  • Best Ereader 5/5

    By Minneola Tangelo
For versatility of format downloads I've found BluFire Reader to be the most user friendly of all the one out there including Kindle and Kobo. I have an iPhone and I much prefer BluFire to the Apple reader.
  • Books disappear 1/5

    By HaroldnCA
Every now and then they update the app and all my books disappear. So very f-ing annoying!
  • Constant cashes 1/5

    By Darth Baizer
I just downloaded this reader as it was the required reader for a certain book. I cannot read the book because of this reader. Every time I try to turn the page, the app crashes and shuts down. Really disappointed
  • Good 4/5

    By Swaveybabygirl
Please add an option to increase text size
  • Wonderfully Balanced Excellence 5/5

    By B Nathanael
This book balances the research with the practical aspects
  • App Great When It Works 3/5

    By Sportsbiz
When it works, this is a great app that makes reading ePub books a very pleasurable experience. However, lately, it has been crashing more and more to the point where right now I can't use it at all. Books seem to load and if I click on information, it will return the proper information on the nook (title, publisher, pages, etc.) it just won't load any pages for me to read - very annoying as you can imagine. I can't figure out a work around and don't know who to contact so I'm hoping the developer reads these reviews and will tell me what to do.
  • Awesome way to download the best arcs 5/5

    By kimsbookstack
This wonderful website lets me speak directly to publishers and download all the newest books I need to read so I can make clear cut purchasing decisions and help patrons find the next best thing. Everything is organized well and I have never had to wait to get help from the help desk. Thank you for filling up my tbr pile!
  • OK app but a few bugs 3/5

    By CAMarathonRunner
This is a nice easy to use app. But a bit buggy because freezes or crashes on iPhone intermittently. Maybe time for an update to keep up with the iOS updates. Last one was over a year ago.
  • Slow, have to swipe 5 times or more 2/5

    By Nalacalli
My choice was this reader or Overdrive. This reader is slow and I can't never swipe the page to turn just one time. Have to swipe at it numerous times. It locks up and overall annoying reader but For harlequin books this is my only choice. I do like being able to edit the library which is why I still use it.
  • Terrible 1/5

    By Woolsac
    Embarrassingly bad. Wow.
  • Terrible search 1/5

    By nawhem
I'm reading textbooks on this app and the search takes 5 minutes using my iPhone 6s Plus. It's a terrible reader as well. I am looking for meaningful ways to transfer to another reader so that I can get work done time effectively. I hate this app and it's reader but there seems to be no other choice or options.
  • Potential 4/5

    By EEPPP
This needs improvement. Dictionary Orientation More appealing user friend home page Ability to have different shelve.
  • Response time by flipping pages 3/5

    By Infehen
Help Help Help!!!! Management of Bluefire Reader pls. FIX the delay response time when trying to flip pages. It makes reading a book with a Bluefire Reader a TORTURE😳😱😰😰
  • I like it 5/5

  • Infuriating app 2/5

    By Púca
The only thing good I can say is it lets me read books from my library. You can't look up a word! Isn't a book the logical place to look up a word? Every other app can do it, why do they block it? Likewise, you can't copy text. Not a paragraph. Not a sentence. Not a word. Not even a single character. I like what iBooks does, which copies copyright material along with any text you selected to the clipboard. Everybody wins. But this app blocks it all. Since I can't copy a few key sentences to blog about (you know, to give the book publicity), I try to swipe from the right side of the screen to open up the Notes app on my iPad. But go anywhere near the right side of the screen (swipe or tap), and it goes to the next page. Infuriating. On an iPad, you can't do 2-up pages, to make it easy to read. No, you just have to crank the margins way up so that a line of text doesn't have 200 characters in it. This is a huge waste of the 12.9" screen. It does allow you to change the font and linespacing, so that at least is good, although it's about the minimum one would expect from an ebook reader in 2017.
  • Only syncs to Dropbox... 2/5

    By YLC76
This is a no go for me... in 2017 you HAVE to support OneDrive and Google Drive, at the very least.
  • No Backup! 1/5

    By Nickname1x
This is just plain stupid. There's no way to backup downloaded files that have been PURCHASED. Their suggestion that one connect and backup to a computer is technologically SO old!
  • Lost everything 1/5

    By Sm192837465
Lost everything with no warning. For some reason I was only allowed 2 week access although my license allows 180 days. I tried backing up my annotations but was unexpectedly locked out of material at 9:53 pm on date of expiration. No warning given and lost all of my notes and annotations. What a disappointment. App was also slow and glitchy when reading. Avoid if you can!
  • Lousy app. Back up books if you must use. 1/5

    By Fizzicyst
Like another reviewer, lost my library of University of Chicago book-of-the-month downloads--app just stopped working. Less-than-helpful support website advice to just delete app (& data, I.e., books) & reinstall. I have the books backed up on MacBook, but a pita nonetheless. Mediocre reading app, only minimal functionality.
  • Horrible 1/5

    By ListentoAll
Can't open my book because it says it is registered with a different account. I only have ONE Adobe account. Never again.

  • Completely useless 1/5

    By Dovey33
It wouldn't supply any numbers or explain to me why I couldn't read a book I needed for school.
  • Hard to read 1/5

    By Puhlik2011
Just got this app to read a book that was assigned in my class and it's impossible to read ! You can't zoom like it is in iBooks. The letters are so small, I think i can damage my vision if I will keep reading through the app.
  • Simplify please 1/5

    By BBCalvin
Another crappy reader app. It keeps saying that I have another account to verify. I have no idea what that means. So I cannot read my books.
  • Clean and simple 5/5

    By -diam-
If u just want to read a book - this one is for u. Great stanza replacement
  • No share/copy option for selected text 2/5

    By jaredly.f
No share/copy option when you select text. It's totally fair use, but apparently not important enough to include. It's just about the only thing I want out of an ebook reader.
  • Adequate 3/5

    By HeresMyView
A simple, stable, DRM epub reader - even with hundreds of books. Lots of display color options.
  • Missing must-have feature and slow 2/5

    By ClintNk
This app is missing basic features that apps like Kindle have had for years: - dictionary - internet search - copy Additionally, its performance is very slow in other areas: - highlighting - page change & refresh
  • Awesome 5/5

    By BFBII
No other word for it. Thank you for it!
  • Horrible! 1/5

    By flash1968gor
Absolutely horrible! You will stay frustrated with all functions. Even just reading, pages must reload when turning or going to previous page. REALLY BLUEFIRE READER!!!!!!!
  • The worst Ereader ever 1/5

    By meatball0608
I've used more than 5 reader apps so far, I downloaded this app because one of the library journals required Bluefire. I use iPhone 7p and this is the only app that cannot properly zoom in/out when I tried to. I wish there is 0 star I could rate, for real.
  • Needs an update 2/5

    By SJGooch
This app freezes way too often and just isn't very functional. They need to fix it to operate for smoothly in a user-friendly way.
  • Not prime-time-worthy 2/5

    By italtrav
Like a number of others, I wouldn’t use this app if I had any other choice. I have begged Hackett (which forces me to use it for academic desk copies) to switch to downloads usable on Kindle. The highlighting function works miserable and is a tedious trial to use. UPDATE: This is a warning that unlike Kindle, Nook, and Google’s Play Books, Bluefire makes nor retains no index or pointers to your books. This means that if you do a restore or get a new iPad, your library will be gone entirely—unless you have gone through (and keep up) the tedious back-up outlined here: 1. Connect your device to your computer and access it via the device icon in the upper left of the iTunes main screen. 2. Once selected, you should see a button for "Apps" in the main iTunes screen. Please select it. 3. From the "Apps" screen, scroll to the bottom where you will see a section labeled "File Sharing," and you should see the Bluefire Reader icon. 4. Select the Bluefire Reader icon, and you will be able to see all of the books in your Bluefire Reader library. 5. Highlight all of the books in your library, and click the "Save To" button, and save the books to a location of your choice on your computer. Update 10-2016 Still a tedious way to read any ebook file, and still with a miserably recalcitrant highlighting facility. I try to dissuade in the strongest terms any of my students from using any e-book that requires this reader.
  • what happened to export annotations? 2/5

    By bothnor
I find Bluefire very useable and easy on the eyes for reading, but I'm very disappointed that the ability to export annotations to email has been removed. That's a crucial feature.
  • no more orientation lock? 2/5

    By Liz S 88
This is why I never update apps. The entire reason I used Bluefire was because of its orientation lock functionality. I thought maybe something just happened and an update would be released and it'd be back, but it's been a while and still no update. I guess I'll be looking around for a new reading app now.
  • How about 0 star? 1/5

    By Ruohan~
Yes, as I said. If there were a ZERO star, I would give that. Worst reader ever. Cost me so much trouble and leading me nowhere. Thank you
  • Unusable! 1/5

    By slotransit
I downloaded this to access books from local library. I am unable to access books already checked out. There is NO help.
  • Highlighting terrible 2/5

    By Cohlson
Highlighting is terrible. Misses first letter and last section. Very annoying.
  • Garbage 1/5

    By JeffreySmithPorter
I'd rathter smoke a fat pound of grass and fall on my *ss faster than the fat witch who sat down too fast than ever use this program again.
  • Un-Uh! 1/5

    By maranuna
Too bad you lose your books when you transfer all your OTHER data and books to your new iPad. Blue fire is gone from my apps now!
  • NOT ACCESSIBLE 1/5

    By Jennikai
I have trouble with my vision, particularly with relation to screens. Blue fire reader does not allow readers to increase the size and font of the text. Also, it does not work with the iOS screen reader, and does not offer its own.
  • Horrible 1/5

    By Mommykate78
Worst app ever. Crashes constantly, takes forever to load between pages. Reading on this app impossible.
  • Best App for Copyright Protected Ebooks 4/5

    By jved267
I love this app & that there have been features added features to it since I first started using it. I love being able to read the copyright protected ebooks I have purchased from websites like christianbook.com or harlequin.com. Suggestions for new features: -Add series to the item info and allow me to sort my books by series. Some of the authors I love to read have written over a hundred books and it is hard to find the items in the same series when there are so many. -Allow us to share a quote on Facebook or Twitter from a book we are reading, so others might want to read it too. Thanks for the great app!
  • Lost feature 3/5

    By Erastide
The loss of orientation lock is a mystery. Why remove functionality? I use this to read books from my local library. It serves its purpose in that, but it's frustrating now to read books laying down when the orientation flips
  • Not a fan 1/5

    By classley
I'm taking an online course and this was the only way for me to download part of the content, which is very unfortunate because this app is slow and frustrating to work with.
  • Better and Worse than iBooks 3/5

    By Peterphilia
Better than iBooks: more fonts and themes, can adjust margins Worse than iBooks: poor note-taking, some things not rendered properly As bad as iBooks: sluggish at times
  • Performs poorly! 1/5

    By PrinceMencius
It could be so much better. Especially the highlighting, I'm ready to print the document out. I wish I could turn off the next page feature when my finger accidentally taps the side of the page. I am stuck with this app, so frustrating!!!
  • Unusably Slow 2/5

    By SilverSideDown
This is one of those apps where you wonder if the developers use it themselves. I've tried using it for DRM-protected comics and it's just painful. Pages take many seconds to load, making reading nearly impossible. This is on a 12" iPad Pro, currently the most powerful iOS device. I'm guessing it's even more brutal on slower ones. Maybe it's OK for just text.
  • Wrong/Funky colors on Books! 1/5

    By fernando_azambuja
Needs a proper support for CMYK PDFs. I rented a book and all the colors are wrong. Even Adobe digital editions for iOS supports CMYK.
