Love app, hate Care chat 3/5
I’m a sitter and I get a lot of jobs through Care.com. I really like that I get to find jobs easily through the system. However, I hate Care chat. It makes things complicated and often confuses the families, because they don’t know why their numbers are being block. We have to send each other our emails, just so we can send our phone numbers, so we can finally call or text. I understand it’s a considered to be helping our safety during the “hiring process,” but once I’m hired, I need an easy way to contact them. They’re not going to pay for care forever, so I won’t be able to use Care chat with a family forever. Really wish there was an option to turn it off.
Ok, not great. 3/5

Most of my complaints aren’t about the app functionality. I just don’t like care.com in general. They charge fees to the care givers and the care seekers and they have advertising. It’s beyond double dipping. It works great for when we travel and are in larger cities and population areas but at home in our rural area options are already thin and the fees keep more people especially care givers from using the service. I’d honestly pay a little more as a care seeker if they wouldn’t charge the care givers and then maybe more of them would use it and I’d have more options.
“Free trial” isn’t free 2/5

Watch out for this. You are auto enrolled after the free trial period (usually three days) and your credit card is then charged $40 without any action on your part. Beware.
They have helped me BIG 5/5
They have helped me big this past year a lot! Yes they've had they're issues but fixed all the complaints I've ever had with them. Yes there's a few scams on there but, they really figured out who they are so they don't mess up your business anymore. At least they haven't with mine lately. But as of now my business is really kicking up with regular customers not just vacation!
Easy and convenient 5/5
This app is super easy to use and it’s very convenient to have on your phone. You can check messages in less than 3 clicks, which is a lot easier, in my opinion, than getting online.
Nothing but scams 1/5
I signed up (and paid) for a one month membership. In that time, I have applied to over thirty jobs with only one response. All the messages show up as being unread. I am assuming this is due to the insanely high cost care.com charges people that are posting jobs. When I do get messages, it is nothing but scam artists. I get one of these scam messages at least once a day. I paid $16 for absolutely nothing.
More like careless.com 1/5
By Tr0niKus Rex
Perhaps greed.com instead? Randomly deleting an account immediately after paying seems to be a new thing. Barely was able to review a single nanny. No explanation outside of an awful boilerplate email sent. $30 lost. Avoid like the plague.
Can’t message caregivers 3/5
Can’t message from app if the message includes using the return key to add another line. It’s simply locks up and the keyboard goes away.
Trying to finish setting up my account and trying to edit it but the app keeps crashing and won’t let me verify my phone
Worst fkn app ever. First of all online i sign up it says my email is already there to log in but when i log in it asked for another Email and repeats it self so i tried the app now it asking me what pets i will sit and every time i click and answer it says error and wont let me back out if I delete the app and re download it goes straight back to the screen asking about pets and wont work also this its bs both your website and app are garbage!!
Good app doesn’t have all the features 4/5

I like the app But I wish It had all the features as the desktop version. I feel that the app is limited.

So far so good! No disappointment, I’ve found nothing but good/quality sitters here! Still using it as needs arise.
Waste of money 1/5
I purchased an annual premium subscription 4 or so months ago. The account/app worked pretty good for the first month. My needs changed. I posted a new ad for occasional sitters with an end date way into the future (because I expected turnover and because it isn’t a regular schedule I knew I would need a few sitters to fill my needs). Care.com terminated my ad without notice or explanation and without me having found any sitters. I reposted the ad. In the past two weeks, I have had incredible trouble messaging people. Numerous times, in the middle of communicating with potential sitters, the app notifies me that the ladies no longer have accounts with care.com. Sometimes if I reboot the app or my phone, I can pick us the conversation. This is getting ridiculous. I had an interview scheduled today with one potential. She didn’t show up. I tried to message her to make sure everything was ok and see if she was still coming and I got the message that she no longer has an account. I think it’s the app, not all the sitters (I can see this happening once or twice, but this has happened numerous times). I wonder if some of these ladies are getting the same message when they try to contact me?!?
$55 a month scam 1/5
By President Zingg
App tries to trick you into paying $55 -$200 to read messages for people that never respond
Scam.com, flake.come 1/5
Invited many applicants for interviews but for as many different reasons there was never an interview. Next to impossible to communicate with applicants which accounts for some of the failure. Care.com is horrible and I was completely unsuccessful hiring someone.
A great website 5/5
By Abbey P.
I have found 4 great babysitters in this site, over the past 5 years!
Terminated my account without cause 1/5
I recently created an account in order to make some extra cash. However before I could even begin applying for jobs they terminated my account for no reason. I got multiple emails from them explaining that they can terminate anyone's account for any reason, and they don't disclose the specific reason for termination, instead giving possible reasons for termination (none of which applied to me). For all I know they could be profiling me just based on my name. They will be hearing from me, and until they contact me with a legitimate reason for my termination, I will be persuading everyone I know to not use their services. Don't fall victim to their poor customer service and their arbitrary rules like I did.
Met a bunch of weirdos 1/5
Most caregivers are not reliable, sketchy, and are all about money. Very sad. Many missed a great opportunity to work with a great family. Out of over 40 applicants, maybe 10 actually read the job description and qualified. Out of 10 maybe 1-2 interviews because none of the woman would show up. Out of 2 interviews I hired 0. Wasted my money. This is the second time I have tried to use this website and nothing :( God Blessed us with a lady, I didnt use care.com though.
The positive part is at-least Throughout the process I really figured out what I dont want- like a 21 year old boy with a whopping 2 yrs of experience to be my live in nanny to my infant and two other children....
Great Resource for jobs 5/5
By Robin D Fruitland,md
I have been trying to get this app to work for about a month now. And I've deleted and re downloaded 10 times. Each time it tells me my address is invalid and refuses to let me restart or even continue to the next page.
Help please! 1/5
I downloaded this app yesterday so I could sign up as a nanny/caregiver. I started off creating my profile on safari & tried to complete it through the app. Well that didn’t work out for me so I completed my profile on safari. Now every time I try to log into care.com the app it brings me right back to creating my Bio. After several times of creating my bio, & uploading a picture it will not let me leave the “upload a 30 second video” page. No matter how many times I press skip it will not let me skip. I’ve deleted & redownloaded the app 50 times & the same thing keeps happening. It’s even got to a point where I uploaded a 25 second video of absolutely nothing & when I press ‘next’ the app closes itself out. PLEASE HELP! I don’t want to add a video to my profile & I’m getting messages from families that I’d rather see on the app.
App vs website inconsistent & "care"givers lacking 2/5
Ok I paid for 3 month service so that I could find a house cleaner. I'd rather pay the house cleaner than pay the big companies that only pay minimum wage. But there is a disconnect on the app vs the website, some things show on one but not the other.
As to the house cleaners on the app/site. Not reliable, can't read the job descriptions, they say they want to work, but not one will come for an interview.
I've even messaged them directly instead of waiting for them to apply, They say they want the job but then don't follow through.
What a waste of money and time.
Don't bother even trying.
worst app 1/5
Rarely loads fully and messages sent to potential applicants are met with “member account closed” when members are indeed still active. Emails—there’s no customer service number—to customer service are pointless; responses keep referring to the website when I am talking about app errors. Website ok; app is awful
Don’t use unless you want to go broke 1/5

Looking for one sitter.. $55 for a freaking month. Seriously?? Would give zero stars if I could.

Don’t sign up for this. The care.com business is a total racket. I’ve been on the site for 4 months as they automatically charge you without notice yet still have not found work. I have 5 years experience working for families without the site but joined when I moved and was looking for new contacts. They put sitters who don’t have experience on the site at a disadvantage because you don’t have reviews. $80 later and still no work.
Not to mention they charge the families that are looking to hire as well. They pretty much intercepted and monopolized a whole job market.
Why 1star? CAREGIVERS ARE OFTEN VERY BUSY PEOPLE. This app too often disappoints. 1/5
♨️‼️🌠 Why 1star? CAREGIVERS ARE OFTEN VERY BUSY PEOPLE. Please optimize your app for reliability, performance, and WORKFLOW ‼️ This app too often disappoints.
Also .. CareChat .. 99% of your paying users HATE IT. Give us options. Don’t force CareChat upon those 99% who dislike it. READ ALL THE NEGSTIVE COMNENTS ON CARECHAT ON YOUR DUSCUSSION BOARDS !!! ‼️‼️‼️‼️😴
Also... Takes a long time for client reviews to show up.
When a client posts a review, it can take many days before it shows up on your profile. Also, with CarePro status, takes many days after you qualify before it shows up.
If you respond to a voice message with a phone call (not via a text message) you will be penalized -- and you can lose your carepro designation.
You MUST always respond with a TEXT message (within the system) to anything that you have received.
Your voice response to a voice call request does NOT count. This is a BUG in their system.
When you respond to a voice LINK with a voice CALL it should qualify as a response, it should not require another extra text response. Lost my carepro status for a week because of this problem.
One more new problem with iOS 11, it is very very very difficult to edit your text responses with him this system. It makes it almost impossible to write a text response because the EDITING capability is very very bad!
Also, if you type a response, it sometimes gets flagged with erroneous characters, and it is impossible to edit and fix that problem. This is a very inconvenient system to use.
This is what I'm giving the one star rating. Updated. 11/10/17. 01/09/18.
Care.com is usually a waste of my time 2/5
When I do post a job, out of desperation, I receive so many responses, mostly from people who don’t bother to read my job posting, that it takes forever to sift though the rif-raft to find the 1 candidate that might work for our family. Honestly, the only reason we really keep care.com is so we can find babysitters when we are traveling in other cities. Most of the candidates I find are from word-of-mouth, nanny Facebook pages, or Bambino (for fill-in sitters).
They make you believe they do all the background checks. They do not. I purchased a year package, then after wards it tells me to check for sex offenders, and criminal records that costs $100+ extra. I asked for a refund and they told me no refunds will be given. RIP OFF do not buy! Also who can afford a babysitter at $10+ an hour that’s over minimum wage!
App hardly works lots of glitches phone calls never work 1/5
Awful phone number blocking features! I can decide if I want to give a family my number or not. Care should not be taking this from me since there chat feature doesn’t work properly
Pay for nothing! 1/5
This service used to be a great way to get in contact with families looking for care, but recently... no way!! They want both ends to pay to be able to communicate or to even apply for a job! And the price is OUTRAGEOUS. Plus, you pay and there’s no guarantee you even get a response from jobs applied to or anything at all. Terrible. I can’t believe they changed so much. And I get they need to make money but they should do it other ways like through taking a profit if you pay your caregiver through the app or take a cut from the cost of background checks. I’ve deleted the app and will no longer use the service.
Waste of money 1/5
From what I’ve heard is that before you didn’t have to buy credits. Well now you have to buy credits and put about 4 credits to apply for a job and one credit is about $1. If the job you applied to declines you, you only get one credit back. A while back, almost a year now, I spent $20 on this app and applied to 5 jobs and none of them got back with me or declined them so I haven’t got any credits back. I wish I realized that many people on the app don’t check their account after finding a worker so I was applied to jobs that people had already filled.
Cannot sort by available time or date 2/5
There is no searching option to sort the profiles by their available time or date.
Checking every person’s calendar is waisting time.
No one responds 2/5
I’ve had this app for a year and within the last 6 months everyone I message about a job does not respond. I don’t know why I’m paying for a membership when i can’t find a sitter. I can join a free one and find someone. I’m frustrated and tired of Care.com I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. I thought it was gonna be great since we are military and move a lot. But it’s not worth it for the price.
Frustrating and faulty 1/5
The app is bad. Writing and editing is faulty. The scheduling is a pain. My account was terminated with no explanation. I've been a member for years (12) and have paid for several memberships, background checks, and MVRs. Not bothering to contact support. Not worth it. Too many errors through the years. I found 3 amazing families from this site but done with the company and their website.
Come on...😩 1/5
I keep recommending you to my friends to use in order to find babysitting jobs, but then I get upset because I have to pay and then I tell him that they don’t have to. And then I log into the app and realize that you’re trying to hound everyone for money!!! I will no longer recommend this site to anyone else!! It’s ridiculous!! Aren’t you making enough money off of the parents who have to pay for a sitter? (I feel bad for them too!!!) I’m not going to pay to find jobs!!!! THE WORST!!!!
Just ok. 3/5
The app can be glitchy and difficult to use from iPhone. And I dislike CareChat. While I appreciate Care.com trying to protect my personal information I would prefer being able to send my phone number to families I have booked with. CareChat makes this difficult..
Great resource 5/5
Get resource for find a nanny!!
Excellent online agency for housekeepers and caters! Thank you.,
Way too expensive 1/5
I don’t usually write reviews but the amount of money for this app is outrageous. Nope.
Not Dependable 1/5
This app continues to kick me out when I edit my profile or update my availability. I’ve left several comments regarding this issue and it’s never been addressed!
So many built in “safeguards” that it is almost unusable 2/5
For a service that charges a pretty penny, this app has been poorly designed. Not sure whom they are protecting here, but I can’t exchange simple phone numbers with caregivers on a one on one private message! Trying to call using their anonymizer service resulted in failure. I don’t have so much time to deal with simple communication issues!
Get back to basics guys.
The app doesn’t work 1/5
I love care.com but I can’t barely open the app. It closes everytime I try to go on the app!
Complete scam 1/5
So you join people can’t contact you unless they pay then if you want to upgrade and do the background check and the DMV check you pay and I paid then they expired in like a month all I can say is if you want to throw your money away donate it because you are not going to get anything out of this app
Finding amazing families 5/5
Some how I got extremely lucky and the first family I met with became a perfect match and I worked for them for a wonderful 6 months! I cherish them and their son beyond words. We’ve equally have been blessed to do so much for each other and it’s all thanks to care.con or else I would have never found them. This is a great sight to find wonderful families to work for! I recommend it to all my fellow nanny friends.
One-sided company 1/5
If you are a sitter looking for jobs, DON’T! I posted my profile, and I will admit I had a few lucky “bites.” But then I got not one but two reviews from families who I have never worked for. I emailed care.com about this and they said there was nothing they could do. All I could do, they said, was email the people who reviewed me and ask them to take the review down, but they also told me there was no guarantee it would be changed. I asked if they would be able to verify whether or not the families had hired me through the message system on the site, and they said they could, but they still couldn’t remove the review. With a system where people can review you when you haven’t worked for them with no outside control stepping in, I suggest finding other sites to babysit through
Thanks Care.com I got my first job in United States in health field. I received a very good salary and in the meanwhile I help people that today they are like my family. Thanks again Care.com!
Highly restrictive App. 1/5
This app MAKES you choose which hours you need help but only offers choices from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. I need night caregivers. Also, it requires diagnosis of person being cared for, yet is VERY limited in choices. You can't post a job without these items, so I am unable to post the job I need. Obviously, the person in charge of this app doesn't understand that caregiving is required 24 hours a day for some, and that there needs to be a place to just type in the hours and disability and not be restricted by limited choices.
Not worth the money 1/5
This used to be a good and useful app. But now that I have to pay to use it, I’m deleting it. Not worth it.
No rating for Employers 1/5
Care givers aren’t able to rate the people who hire. I had a terrible experience with a mother who did not want to pay me & I never received full payment. I did nothing wrong, she just fell behind on payments & got upset when I quit- even though I gave 2 weeks notice & was running her 3 kids all around town to practices & games for $15/hr- working 2 or 3 hours a day.
Great way to connect with families! 5/5
Very convenient and helpful!
