Purchased a membership upgrade but was unable to access the premium features via the app. Paid $109 through iTunes. Did not realize the app was wonky so purchased membership upgrade via desktop. Emailed care.com and they indicated they had no record of the iTunes purchase. Luckily iTunes refunded the cost which was $40 more in the app than on the desktop.

While I fully support the idea the childcare providers should earn a living wage I HATE that if you pay through the app the lowest dollar amount hourly is $10.
We live in a relatively rural location where many working parents don't even earn $10 an hour. It would be nice if there was a way for the applicant to approve & agree to accept $8 or $9 and hour.

Used this app successfully 6 months ago to find our housekeeper. Came back to look for childcare and found disappointing changes. Constant push for premium subscription upgrade in order to make any contact with an applicant. Monthly subscription options, as promised in the app, not selectable. Asks for Full year upfront. All subscriptions, no matter what kind you select, auto renew. It's up to the subscriber to cancel and good luck finding your account settings option to do that. Too bad they couldn't leave the app alone. If this app works as it supposed to eat you shouldn't need this for a full year. You were supposed to find a job or a person to fill your job and have long term success. Developers need to rethink this.

I'm willing to put in anything to get a job.
It makes it seem so easy on the commercial to find a babysitter for a date night but doesn't include that you can't even read or reply to your messages from applicants unless you pay $60 for a 1 month membership! Outrageous.
Misleading wasted of time and money 1/5
I saw Care.com advertised in my Facebook feed, and because I am looking for a one-time deep-clean of my apartment, possibly to be followed by regular cleaning, I decided to check it out. I entered a my personal information, described what services I wanted and how big my place is. I submitted my info. And that's when I found out that Care won't let you actually communicate with anyone who sees your post unless you pay rather exorbitant fees. Like, $59.99 for one month. It goes down if you pay for three months or 12 months, but I have zero desire to pay anywhere near what this app wants to extort out of me just so I can connect with a housekeeper once.
To make matters worse, I've been getting spam emails from them nonstop ever since submitting my info.

This app looks to be very useful and I have had an account in the past which I log into. It now asks me for $59 for one month service or an option for $18 a month for a year... I click on the $18 one and it gives me a message, "please use touch to verify your $209 payment"! So I clicked cancel and then it comes up with a message that "it seems you are already a member please login to iTunes, which I do and it just hangs there. I cannot answer any emails to me, and these poor girls are waiting for a reply. This service has gotten horrible. This should be free as it used to be.

I love it. It's really helping me find a good babysitting job. I love how the app is set up. It's very convenient. They need to fix the flaw in the bio that makes it impossible to use commas and apostrophes.

I've always found my babysitting jobs through care.com. I'm glad there's also the app, I can reply to messages even if I'm on the go. It's been totally free for me and I don't need to spend any money since applying for jobs it's free. Thanks care.com!!

Issue 1) We are using this to find a nanny. The website lists "Nanny" specifically as a search option. This app only lists "child care". Babysitters are very different from nannies.
Issue 2) We have no idea if the people we are contacting are even actively using the app. Out of contacting 20 people with a question we are only getting replies from a couple, as in 2. We should be notified if the message was ever read or something. It's frustrating not knowing if the app is working or if the people are simply not replying or not active.
3) We should have the ability to remove people from our search results. Once we've discovered a person is not a match, they continue to show up in our results. We should be able to filter those people out, no longer need to see them. We are trying to find someone as easy as possible so would like to only see results who are still a possibility, not everybody.
4) Fix glitches
4a) Inaccurate taps - So many times I try sending a message and my screen goes to another view mid me using text keys. Or tap a profile from the results and a profile from two rows down opens up.
4b) inbox randomly shows up as empty
Overall experience, The design is pretty good 7.5/10 but how it functions is like a 6/10. The outdated / inactive feeling user database is a 4/10.
Force people to reply (something as simple as two buttons Available or Not Available, if they don't want to write a reply) or deactivate them because it's frustrating looking for help from a selection that may have vacated. Or mark the message as "read" if the recipient opened it.

As a house cleaner I use this app to build my business. Only to find out my clients are required to have a $60 membership to even read my messages, then once it comes to paying me they are charged an extra $17.50 on top of my fees. Now I have two jobs I've done this week that can't be paid because "request a payment" has been throwing an error all week. I'll be keeping my clients and letting them pay me directly so that this doesn't hurt my business or my clients. Very disappointed in how much trouble this gives instead of helping.
Warning! the site and the app charge substantially different amounts of money for premium. Also, my card was charged for the year (via the app which is more money somehow ) yet I am unable to post a job ! Better business bureau will be contacted if I am not soon contacted regarding this

I find this app very helpful and convenient the notifications are great! I haven't had any problems with it crashing like previous reviews mentioned. I also don't have a problem with the membership fee because I went into it knowing it was a membership and honestly the background checks and the payment options make it totally worth the money!

I don't like the update they have done to the application in which you have to go through each individual job listing instead of being able to see all of them at once. I also am not a fan of how they are requesting credit, but I guess they have to make their money somehow.
I have had some success with finding families to work with but I find that word of mouth is the best way to get my name out there.

I saw the commercials and needed an occasional babysitter for my son. First thing it makes you do to look is post an ad. Then, you are inundated with replies and it costs 60 a month to see who is applying! Way overpriced and a huge disappointment. Had potential in our house until we realized what a rip off it was.

There was a certain point in time where it seemed like I was getting nowhere with this service, but it seems the more work you put in, even without paying for the premium membership, the more you are noticed. It seems mostly like you are networking. The more you contact families and they contact you back, the higher you rank in a prospect's search. I'm not sure if that's how it works but that always seems to happen with me. Keep trying guys, it gets better with time! I've gotten tons of interviews and quite a few great nannying, babysitting and housekeeping jobs using it.

This application is possibly the worst I have ever used on an iPhone... constantly crashes and does not let me enter any information. Many blank/ missing pages here and on their mobile website. Truly a waste from what was a great site!

It's great for finding help eventually. This site and app however are CLEARLY NOT MADE FOR THE USER!
You have to hunt to find everything and it usually takes several clicks to get what you want.
Furthermore you can't easily see who you've messaged and who you still need to contact.
This site and app was clearly designed without user feedback. Looks like it was designed by a programmer.

I downloaded this app with the understanding that Care.com was completely free to use unless I wanted to upgrade to a premium membership for added benefits and perks. What I wasn't aware of was that one I signed up and created an account to post an ad for a babysitter to watch my daughter, I would have to PAY in order to be able to connect with any of the applicants responding. You MUST upgrade to a premium membership of $250.00 for one year, $110.00 for 3 months or $57.00 for one month, in order to read and respond to messages in your inbox from applicants applying to your ad. I find this extremely unfortunate and useless to me as the whole point of posting my ad was to find someone to watch my daughter so I can go back to work and bring in an income. I feel bad for the applicants because they have to pay in order to apply to an ad, and they have no way at all of knowing if the person is a paid member or not so they may never get a reply back. Not everyone has money to pay just to connect with other people. Even if there were a free trial, it would be better than nothing at all.
