Not sure why I purchased commercial free but still see commercials. I've cancelled this one.

While I am sure there are plenty of other users that don't rate this app, and probably don't have an issue with the performance, I can tell you after two re-installations of this app with three different update versions that the CBS streaming app has only gotten worse with every update. I was waiting for improvements, I was faced with disappointment: The crash count has nearly tripled since I first tried using this app, ads are normally the critical crash point, and my iPhone has plenty enough power to do the job! Granted it's not a seven, but an SE has plenty of capability when the router delivering 75mbps internet is five feet from your device. CBS, your shows are pretty solid, but you need to take some notes from NBC on how to build a streaming app. I'll see you guys around next update, hope it won't fall as hard.

This app is garbage. If I pay for this each month it should work on all interfaces. Never works with the mobile app. GARBAGE.

In my experience, regardless of the platform, the CBS app is the worst I've encountered thus far. The commercials rarely load properly, if ever, and they have yet to master appropriate and consistent commercial timing during any show. So unless you pay their greedy premium to watch commercial-free, you're in for a frustrating, uphill battle to watch shows dominated by loading problems and unpredictable app crashes.

If I wanted to watch all these commercials I'd just watch TV. I don't mind 1 or 2 during their breaks, but 5-7 is way too many. I can't even catch up on all the episodes before it's used all my data.

Regardless of what I do, the app freezes after about 10-12 clicks. Anywhere, any path; freeze. And I've got a 7 plus with plenty of free space. Rebuild from the ground up please.

Recent updates made it worse 2/5
The recent updates to the Apple TV app make me reactivate the app every other day, significantly slowed down scrolling and added extra clicks to watch a show. Please fix it back to the snappier performance it used to have and quit making me reactivate!!!

I can't used the app in my ipad.
As soon as I went through the process of signing in, the app crashed. Tried again and same thing happened. I would rate it zero, but not given the choice.

I support CBS'S decision to offer paid subscriptions that give deep access to their library, plus a free version with less content. It's the basis for a classic "freemium" product business model - give users a positive experience with a limited version for free, and get them wanting more so they'll move up to a paid service.
But for that to work, you need to have a positive user experience with the free version, and be strategic about when and how the user hits the limits of free, so that jumping over the pay wall is their idea. CBS's product design team and user experience designers in particular have failed SPECTACULARLY at this fundamental requirement.
The free version should let the user run free amongst the available content, enjoying it with the absolute minimal barriers - basically, program surfing as if they were in front of a tv with a menu of all the goodies, and watching the next interesting thing was just a click away. Then program your free/paid selection so the limits hit them at that point when they are enjoying the content so much, they just gotta have more!
Instead, CBS HAS elected to present a ton of content that *looks* like it's available, and force the user to navigate down and back up silos to discover, in many cases, that there's actually no content available to view without the paid upgrade. It's a design/workflow pattern that perfectly supports the requirement "Create maximum opportunities for user disappointment, and minimize opportunities for success."
This approach shows that someone at the Product Design level is trying to solve business goals with zero regard for how human beings actually behave. The exact same set of free content/paid content can easily be presented to encourage user upgrades to the paid service. Right now, lack of the most basic understanding of user experience design has let to a product that mostly encourages people to just abandon the effort.
CBS: Get a product manager who understands that brute force is not the way to accomplish business goals, and knows how to encourage users to fulfill your business goals, instead of just checking some box in a list of business requirements. Someone should be embarrassed.

Worst streaming app I have used. I would never pay for it. Crashes, buffers often, doesn't remember which episodes have been viewed. Clunky navigation. CBS should pull the app, or at least make it free.

I got the app to watch Elementary because the newest season isn't on Hulu. But this app is a major downgrade from the easy and welcoming interface of that streaming service. This app is buggy and even without the bugs it isn't user friendly. It's obvious that CBS did the bare minimum (if they even did that) to develop this app. I'm willing to pay for the content I want to see but when the delivery is deplorable It's much easier to justify piracy. I wish CBS would realize that's how many others feel as well

I don't know what cbs is thinking - charging customers for network tv. They are the only one doing it. I can watch cbs through my cable so why do I have to pay to what on Apple TV for convenience? Why are so many episodes missing from Big Bang theory? You're still making money through commercials. Every time I hit buy, I hate cbs a little more. I don't even pay for cable apps on appleTV! You need to rethink your business strategy.

If I didn't want to watch the shows that are at CBS All Access, I'd ditch this app. No flexibility, poor performance, and every time you have to start over---which is a lot---it makes you watch commercials again. You would think that when they are charging me $4.99 /month, they could give me a decent app to use.

Way too expensive for one network. CBS would be better off partnering with slingtv or other similar services for live TV. The rest of the content is not worth the subscription price. It's only CBS shows. Also no picture in picture, this feature has been around for a while now, get with the times developers.

They only offer streaming for two cable providers, and TWC/Spectrum is not one. All other companies allow us to login with our cable account and get full access. Goodbye CBS, way to kill a Star Trek series before it starts as well.
I'm struggling to catch up on seasons of Survivor and Amazing Race on this streaming service. Video quality constantly goes from good to bad to worse. The user interface is as as unfriendly as it gets, especially if you are used any other streaming service out there. I have no issues with Netflix or Amazon Prime.
I'll have to find another way to watch the new Star Trek show because this is God awful. For a company wanting to push this service for exclusive content, they sure have a long way to go.

The app is frozen with a black background & the blue CBS logo. Tried cbs.com, found the show I wanted to watch & was automatically directed back to the app with the same results. Doesn't usually glitch out. Guess tonight's just not my night.

CBS is dragging its feet in supporting major TV providers for Live stream. Perhaps to encourage people to pay more for CBS All Access. I'm not paying twice for the same channel. Get with the program. All other TV networks have support for logins from major TV providers.

Wanted to watch The Price Is Right being dream car week downloaded the app only to have the cbs logo stare right back at me for roughly 30 minutes I shouldn't have waited that long but the freaking app should have opened in seconds after installing 😠

They are totally dishonest. They don't do what they say they will do. They charge your account even when they say it is a free trial. When you try to talk to someone over the phone they don't care.
Worst video watching app ever! 1/5
I already voice my opinion on a survey that CBS All Access sent me. But this app is terrible. One problem is that it shuts down randomly. When you are in the middle of watching a series it doesn't even bring up the episode that's next in the series. And most of the time it doesn't show a progress bar or show that you've completed a episode in the series. So I've gone to taking notes as to which episode I watched last because there's just no clue as there is in Hulu, Netflix etc. I hate having to pay for something that gives very mediocre service. But in our area we can't get channel 5 and some of our favorite shows are on CBS so we have to resort to watching it on CBS all access. And on Roku… That's a whole other story! It's awful!

The Apple TV app has completely stopped working. It crashes every time I first open the app. I can watch shows on computer and phone.
This app/service is total rubbish. The commercials are about 20 decibels louder than the shows so I constantly have to turn the volume up and then down, and then up and down, up and down, up and down, etc. It also logs me out every single day. Total crap. If it was free I wouldn't care but I pay for this and believe it should work.

I use this on my TV. It is always freezing, crashing and restarting. Super frustrating. Is there a bug fix coming for this soon? Do the care? They should just cut a deal with Hulu so at least we could watch our shows on an application/platform that actually works. Also why do they have to up the volume of the commercials? Get it together CBS.

This app doesn't play well with my 4th gen AppleTV either from iPhone or iPad. Resolution is bad and it doesn't scale correctly. Also, there is no option to choose AirPlay from within the app. I'm trying it because the AppleTV version of the app keeps crashing. Very frustrating.

I can't even imagine paying to get *more* poor quality glitchy shows! We were just watching Elementary, but the stuttering was so bad that it was absolutely unwatchable, despite trying to stop the show several times in hopes it was a buffering issues. We're now watching videos on You Tube, Netflix, etc. with no problem, so I can only assume the problem is the CBS app. We get better show quality from our basic antenna.

Why can't I shrink the CBS app into a picture-in-picture like window so I can do other things on my iPad while watching a show? Netflix and other streaming services apps have done this for years. 3-stars because this feature is lacking, and full history is not available on all shows, there no reason for that.

I enjoy the shows that are accessible through this service, but... My phone never drops wifi; unless I'm using this app. Whenever I try to stream using this app, & only with this app, my phone will drop its wifi connection; about a gig of data was wasted because of this! This doesn't happen with Netflix, Hulu, etc. It's one of the dumbest bugs I've ever encountered. Also, why are the commercials 100 times louder than the actual program??

It says it's so easy to cancel just go to your account and click the cancel button but there's nothing anywhere about it even if you search nothing comes up Don't get this app or you'll be stuck with it !

This is the absolute worst steaming channel I’ve ever watched, and as a cord cutter, we watch a lot of steaming channels. More time is spent watching commercials and the blue loading bar than the program. We got it just to watch one season of the Amaxing Race that our TiVo missed recording, and we will never subscribe again.

I liked the app but the late night disgusting pig with the foul mouth caused me to cancel. I will not support CBS as long as Colbert has a show. I don't care for the politics and entertainment. It I wanted real comedy that is not funny I'll watch MSNBC.
Really the hypocrisy that is CBS is flat out wrong Colbert offended not just republican but also democrats. Disgusting humor has no place on TV.

App isn't bad and works well on AppleTV. Interface is a little kludgey. The thing I don't understand (I understand the economics) is why the cost is 20% more when subscribing through Apple? C'mon CBS- just don't offer the subscription through iOS AppStore instead of the uplift.
