I’ve spent a lifetime trying to be massively organized 5/5
I’ve used every organization technique on the planet and I find Evernote to be the best application available on the market today.
Still no dark theme 1/5
Customers have been requesting this for years. Come on Evernote... At least try
Were bullet marks taken away? 3/5
The one thing I liked about Evernote was the ability to use bullets. Now I don’t see them. Please tell me I’m just overlooking something within the app. If not, please bring them back! I rated this app as 5-star simply because of being able to use bullets. Now I have to give it 3.
UI is broken for iPhone X 1/5
By Mic Apolinar
Loved Evernote but now am really close to deleting. Every time you type a note your cursor shoots to the top which doesn’t allow you to see more than one lines above where you are typing. If want to go back an edit it can sometimes cause the page to glitch and doesn’t show what you are typing. Please allow users to see the note, type where they want with the page auto scrolling right to the top.
Bad Update 1/5
Keyboard tool bar is gratuitous and presumptuous. It does not help note taking at all.
Thanks for improving the speed which should have been done long ago.
Simplicity and UI are most important 3/5
By Flurr Ball
I could do without “work chat” and the integrated “services”or whatever they are called.
I’m a long time Premium user. The best features (for me) are full search of PDFs and handwritten notes. The delivery is less than stellar, though. Searching for an exact phrase isn’t easy and typically pulls up many irrelevant results. Additionally, the search pulls up some results immediately and then as I am scrolling through, many more results appear in between the initial results. So once I have finally found what I am looking for, it gets displaced by other results before I have a chance to open the desired note. Maybe it is a consequence of the time required to open the image previews (after the text), but it is annoying nonetheless.
I like to use the iOS “share” to Evernote feature for web sites but the tagging process is cumbersome. I have to scroll through many tags to add one at the time of saving the web page. The on the fly tagging process in the Pocket app is much much better and more efficient.
With improved searching and tagging, it would be a 5 star app. And please, no more collaboration features.

Not working on iPhone X!!! please Fix ASAP 1/5
Darn thing KEEPS shutting down on me on iPhone X! Keeps closing me out of the app on my iPhone X! PLEASE FIX!
Ouch. Get additional collision insurance, this will crash multiple times per HOUR... 1/5
I have used the App for years. I even started buying the upgraded app. In the last 6 months or so, the usability has gone to nil. On an iPad Pro (12.9) with ALL updates, this will crash every 2-3 minutes. Yes, that often. Most of the time, I am in split screen mode, maybe taht is the issue, but I am supposed to be able to use it like that! Reading email and typing notes is a daily if not hourly task.
Based on this, I had waited to see if they addressed it. Nope. Over 6 months of AWFUL app performance. I no longer pay, since I am transitioning to a new note taking app. Evernote probably lost me for good. I am sure based on the performance that I am not the only one. Don’t pay for this app, you will be disappointed.
Love it!!! 5/5

I use this app everyday. It has improved my productivity! 😄

“Improved editor” but took out a useful function? Please add it back!
still has issues, but steadily improving... 4/5
thank you for the update to note edit mode interface for mobile. much improved.
update to prior review:
now the clicking on the sync icon w exclamation point tells me the issue—a sync error that was easily resolved. thanks for the update/improvement. resolved
prior review gripe:
point seems to be fairly stable after a few reinstalls. desktop app constantly tries to sync—sync icon spins for a moment then switches to sync icon red error exclamation constantly—but my notes do appear to be syncing properly. as for my iphone6s performance issues, i’ve stopped downloading notebooks to my phone AND i only work within the Reminders “notebook” when managing and updating my reminders and that seems to make a huge improvement when using the ios app. ... my guess is that my old method of working in All Notes and toggling the Reminders icon on was overly taxing the app as it had to access thousands of notes in the background. all is working well enough now.
it’s gotten even worse. still have to turn off internet connecting to edit notes w/out app freezing up while i type. updates to my phone now don’t always sync properly—desktop app does not reflect update to notes made on my ios 11/iphone6s. and now even my desktop app stalls with the spinning wheel when i’m just trying to access notes that are on my computer and this is when i don’t even have a network connection. i fear that soon i’ll just have to accept that evernote isn’t going to recover to it’s previous stability and i’ll have to port my entire life in evernote to another app soon and cancel my evernote premium subscription :(
last major update made the app totally unusable for me... now that reminders are sorted by due date - in one of the views at least - it is again usable but seems but barely...
en seems to need to contact the server for just about every small edit, so i if my connection isn't lighting fast, i'm constantly waiting for en while it freezes up...
still would like more of version 7's functionality back like turning upcoming reminders on and off.
also, would be great if i could turn "recent" items off so they're not always cluttering up the top my notebook or favorites list. especially since this new design reduces the amount of actual content i can see on any given screen.
probably gonna reinstall 7 and go back to that until there's another update n see how that one is...
still don't understand why you guys removed so so so much excellent functionality in this version... the old evernote was such a great indispensable app/service. this version is still a major letdown... 😢
Love the app- one small change suggestion 5/5
On Iphone when I’m doing a numbered list-
1. 2. 3. Etc - it autoformats when I do 1 then select the period button. But if I type 1 then double space to input the period it does not auto format. Just a suggestion! Thanks! Love this app!!! My whole brain is in here :)

Not working since last iOS update 1/5
This morning, all but 27 notes have disappeared with last sync. I’m a ten-year user and depend heavily on Evernote. Of course, I am traveling and needed my notes this morning and cannot access the Internet version with an iPhone and do not have my laptop. I suspect it may have something to do with the last iOS update. There needs to be better Tech Support. Even as a premium user tech-support is only via email on Monday through Friday.
iPhone x user interface 3/5
By needs an iphone x update
The only part that is visible while typing the note is what you are typing all text above that is pushed up and you can’t see it. It’s hard to keep the train of thought of what you re typing
Very Great app for Organization 5/5
I use this app everyday because it’s great for keeping tabs personal life/activities/journaling. The ability to customize notes is great too. Would love it if the “record audio” function allowed airpod compatibility but other than that, this is a very central app to keeping the mind and life organized and cleared.
Buggy and too expensive 1/5
Bad pricing change along with bugs causing notes to be overwritten with other notes? I use this for recipes and randomly some will be overwritten with other recipes in my notebook. No way to go back with out paying for the top tier subscription. I moved to OneNote and have been much happier!
NEVER NOPE 1/5
Not going to nearly double my subscription for product that’s already making enough per year.... #nevernope
Back button 1/5
Back button is gone
Love it 5/5
I love Evernote, iPhone version has some lacking but it is the only "whole package" - works greatly on Mac and iOS. Can’t imagine switching.
Too slow to use effectively 1/5
I’ve been an Evernote user since 2008 and I have over 10,000 notes. The performance on this latest version on the iPad is so slow it has rendered the program almost unusable. I search and have to sit and wait 30seconds or more for results. Also, when I put my search terms in quotes it no longer recognizes the quotation marks.
I’ve been in touch with technical support and they recognize the problem but they said they have no idea when it’ll ever be fixed.
Before paid version; Was an Excellent Useful App. Now it's slow 3/5
I really like Evernote before paid version restrictions went into place-11/16/2017 lately evernote has decided to make me delete content because it exceeds my paid scale 50mb! So basically I have to delete a portion of my note to continue using any other part of evernote!
After paid version: Except now it lags/ hangs every time I return to use it, even though I'm not signed out and app is open on iPad Pro. Annoying
Past review: Version 8.0.3 hangs & very slow to load. Asks for password too often. 02/2017 update: on my IPad Pro: Evernote has gone downhill since it is now by subscription. I am a subscriber. Now I am not able to past into existing note to continue my research. This is terrible. Update app please, it use to work perfectly earlier last year.
Past review: new paid version; takes forever to load, always asking for my password, slow to sync. Now that I'm paying it is much worse. 1st review before paid versions;Great for notes, saving web pages, text, photos....sharing with a team. Works on iPad great, appears on desktop & phone seamlessly.
Bait and switched 1/5
Huge price increases. Good luck turning off all the ads. Takes magic to close the crammed notifications- the "x" is so tiny and overlaps with the scroll bar. Depressing to open
Free if you have little to no recipes and want to always use Internet to see everything. Not at all worth it and definitely not worth a monthly sub. Deleting this junk.
Keeps crashing 1/5
The app keeps crash, as the title of this review makes clear. My app is up to date and so is my iOS. It caused me to lose work several times, which is frustrating. I would recommend using another product.
Very useful app 2/5
Great app but I am facing a lag when switching on iPhone X , if I go from one app to another it lags and I have to wait which is annoying . Hopefully will be fixed soon so I can adjust my rating .
Great app but outdated with monetization 2/5
Gives you lots of features like what’s on google drive and apple notes. What’s really bazaar, is that they charge for you to sync across devices. It’s 2017!
Table Functionality? 3/5
I can’t believe it took Evernote so long to add some table editing functionality to their desktop app, which they *finally* did recently and they’re great! However, those features are lacking on mobile, and I’m pretty frustrated. I often want to add rows or edit my tables on the fly on my iPad or phone and can’t. I’d rather not even use the awesome table functionality on the desktop app as it’s actually really cumbersome when working back and forth on mobile.
Save yourself the headache 1/5
By Righteous coder
After rarely using the app I was charged for a years membership of the premium service. No refund, no exceptions. Their service is terrible and the app isn't half as good as its competitors. Just void them all together and save yourself the headache.
please stop asking me to evernote upgrade from plus premium 1/5
when i upload some file, evernot always ask me about evernote upgrade from plus to premium
if i could give it minus 5 stars i would out of sheer frustration. previous to this current UI
it was great. worked beautifully. now that it’s been ‘simplified’, ‘streamlined’ it’s now very counterintuitive. example: when i want to find a note quickly, i’m sometimes on screen where
i’m in the ‘find notebook’ area, thinking i’m in the ‘find note’ area. so i have to push several buttons to get back to ‘all notes’ and ‘find note’.
Then when i go to find a note it’s slow and buggy. A note with an obvious title, that i’ve used many times before can’t be found unless it’s spelled exactly - won’t autofill as i’m typing,
as it used to do. or there’s a long delay with the results. I use evernote for images and the wrong image will be in the list view for a specific note. the veryvery buggy. i’ve been using evernote since 2011 and have, unfortunately, become very dependent on it it. can’t imagine migrating to another app, but maybe i should. the desktop version is great and i hope they don’t start messing with it.
very very frustrating and disappointing.
It used to be great- then they went and fixed it- BAD 1/5
***from a premium member:
1) why would you pay $70 a year to not even be able to download a simple video to your phone or iPad? The items I save I can’t extract easily or even integrate with the Phones file app, g drive, dropbox etc,
? I always viewed it as an open architecture system… And it’s anything but
2) Even with workarounds trying to use the Workflow app on iOS, IFTTT or anything else… I can’t even extract video from the publicly shared files or links, Yet you could do that for every other site
3) In the event you have a sync issue, On iOS your account basically gets frozen because you’ll get a pop up every few seconds telling you the same exact thing and offering you no real solutions to fix it, to snooze the alert, etc etc
4) I could go on but using this verse the native notes app, or Google Notes… Etc. does no longer makes sense to me anyway
I’d love to hear their value proposition versus either of those
I️ have loved Evernote 3/5
I have loved Evernote for over 5 years. It is my right hand in my doctoral program. But I agree with other reviewers.. the new design change and loss of features is frustrating and disappointing.
Please bring back card view!!!
Can’t believe this is considered a productivity tool 1/5
Despite the negative reviews on the new price structure, I ponied up and paid for Premium for a month because I need to move to a more paperless life in both business and academia. I can’t believe how slow and clunky this product is. Scanning text in is incredibly time consuming due to delays in translating scans to PDFs. Scan function frequently recognizes only part of a page, meaning multiple rescans necessary. Marking up any documents takes 3x as long due to seconds wasted every time you need to translate from one tool to another. All elements of marking up are glitchy - text box doesn’t always appear, no erase function (just delete entire edit), stylus writing is clunky, etc. There is no way I can use this as a substitute for paper copy and hand marking. This app is the equivalent of taking 15 minutes to solve a problem by text which could have been conveyed in 3 minutes of speech. Super-disappointing.
Paying for Premium/cannot open 1/5
By Dis chick glb
This app started crashing on my phone shortly after I upgraded to Premium service. It will not even open on my phone now. I have deleted it and reinstalled it several times - no luck. I was hoping for an update to correct the issue - nope. Will cancel as soon as possible.
Other reviews lead me to believe I am not the only one with tech and/or service issues.
Look for a different app guys - or be frustrated with this one.

Nested Tags...on iOS doesn’t exist 2/5
By Rahhb Riley
I don’t know how to properly express that though things can’t be perfect, I find it very frustrating nested tags exist on web and desktop (and maybe on Android?) but not iOS. It’s the foundation of my use of Evernote.
Tags, I believe, are part of the cornerstone of Evernote’s unique value proposition. I use best practices for naming structures, etc. and use standardized unique tags. I’m aware of saved searches, and I’ve used them, but I shouldn’t need to use them for viewing simple tag categories and hierarchy.
Not being able to see the nested tag hierarchy of how Evernote has enabled me to structure my tags on my on-the-go go-to device, when I’m away from my workhorse machine slows me down, and is counter productive. I just don’t use this on mobile hardly at all now, leading me to actually stop using it altogether and work around other ways. Pay for multiple device? Don’t need too! Mobile app is worthless for me now.
Without hyperbole, this is THE factor keeping me from subscribing to Plus or Premium. The moment I see this (I know, 3 years +/- coming), Evernote has a paying customer. I know I’m not the only one.
**Still holding my breath**
If you need help, forget it 1/5
I must have tried to contact the 5 or 6 times.
You can’t just try the more expensive options and then go back to basic. You have to cancel, and lose all the info you’ve stored there. What a scam.
From the best to the worst. Not recommended. 1/5
This went from being the best most valued app I use every day to the absolute worst. Their latest blunder...removal of presentation mode. I was a premium member and I paid for that feature which they eliminated without warning. I’m moving my notes to another app and canceling my premium membership. Epic fail Evernote.
They Over Bill $ and Don’t Respond! 1/5
I have used Evernote for a long time. The last time I upgraded to Premium, it was in response to their discount offer of $42 annual. Well, they charged the $42 and $69.99. I have sent them numerous emails and they have yet to reply 1 week later. I would agree with other reviews that their Customer Service is pathetic and wonder if they really have a C/S dept at all.
Long-Time Users, Join the Mass Exodus 2/5
So, I have loved Evernote. Really. I have. Evernote presented me with a simple way to introduce some degree of sanity into a life full of chaos. I fell in love with sharing capabilities, especially being able to create public links, being able to email anything straight into my notebooks, tags,... the whole system.
Now, the bugs, the extraordinarily painful time to load... and yes, the customer service that you need to be there when you need it to be there... the service you don’t realize you will have to wait an eternity for if you pay just $3.99/month for the mere Plus subscription... (more accurately, 7-8 days, which is an eternity when you have a deadline you need Evernote to work properly for in... 2 days)... not to mention, the features you fall in love with keep becoming unavailable unless you pay MORE...
I hate change. I get attached easily & I have some freakish crazy-a**ed-devotion-genetic defect. I’ve googled to explore other options for the past few months. Couldn’t do it, but now that Im paying $7.99/month, I want the freaking service I’m paying for to work and not spend 30% of the time Im using the app on my ipad trying to recover from crashes (& yes, I check for updates everytime I have a glitch... they’re seldom available). If you can relate to this at all, just bite the bullet. Go back and give OneNote a try. Take all you’ve learned from Evernote, then for simplicity, do a Google search to figure out how to do the same in OneNote. Then do it. Really. Force yourself to set a time limit and give it a try for that long... moving over just the notes youll need during that time, and to create new ones. Three days should do the trick if you're an avid user. Every function I swore I couldnt live without in Evernote is better, easier, faster, in OneNote. As much as I have felt I needed the services provided through Evernote, I swore I didnt mind the tremendous ongoing fee. Well.... now with a side-by-side comparison, I’d pay more for OneNote. Yet, no need. It’s free.
Frustrating Ongoing Crashes 1/5
I’ve been a premium account holder for years, but will not renew. I’ll have to move to Outlook Notes because of the constant crashing issue, syncing issue and lack of support. Skip this app and you’ll avoid frustration.
Update - app does not always save articles when saving via share sheet button. Very annoying
Crashes on iOS 8 - iPad mini retina. Doesn't work at all
Inside text tags 4/5
I believe evernote is one of the best way to organise ideas and collect thoughts. there is something that will add a value to your application . I suggest to give ability to create tags inside the textnote , which helps a lot in preparing sessions and write books.
thanks for your continues improvement .
Ive used Evernote for 6 years but 1/5 stars 1/5
By Schnark Buckerbird
This app is often unable to sync across devices. Whether it be automatic syncs or manual, this app simply refuses to update my documents on other accounts.
This app freezes like crazy! Writing this review on the app store is a way more effective way to document anything than this app. Evernote has gone downhill. Writing lists and notes in evernote is now a chore. It's too slow to work often times
From incompetent merging problems where my documents would be duplicated 10 times simply because two devices have the same document that is not being changed at the same time.
It's just a shame that I took all of my notes on a horrible service like Nevernote.
Edit: they have still not fixed the problem where notes don't sync or duplicate. Ditch evernote.
Edit 2: A year later and the app has actually gotten WORSE. Shame on you Evernote
No alphabet on right side 1/5
There’s no alphabet tab, so you have to scroll through hundreds of notes to get to the one you are looking for.
Update killed this app! 3/5
I use this app often or at least I use to anyway. The latest update makes the app pretty much unusable. Please fix! Thought it was my device, but on all 3 of my devices, same results. Unable to sync, slow sluggish typing. I'll have 5 words typed before one appears.
STILL CRASHES ON IPHONE 7+ IOS 11.1 makes it worse. 1/5
By Herr ArtigMeister
RECENT UPDATE 10/28 STILL CRASHES ON THE IPHONE 7+on ios 10.3.3. I upgraded to IOS 11.1 and now its crashes are more consistent. Many updates since the problem began on other ios devices; now the ONLY IOS DEVICE IT HAS A PROBLEM WITH IS IPHONE 7+. I depend on this as do many other users for work if this continues to be a problem I will have to migrate my entire database and my paid membership to another application. So please make this work.
While this used to be an excellent app and I rely upon - daily - as I much storage on the iCloud and exported down to my computers. EVERNOTE developers... PLEASE FIX THIS NOW ! If need be you can contact me and I can give you more technical data as I am current Apple developer.
Please look to Bear 3/5
By Eddie Corbo
Bear is beautiful. I’ve been an Evernote lover for a while but lately it’s become bloated and focused on entering the business team collaboration market and competing against Slack.
Instead, they should have just created a dedicated team collaboration product instead of stuffing every new feature it could into Evernote.
Now Evernote is ugly and unenjoyable for creating notes.
Bear on the other hand is doing it beautifully.
I want to stay loyal to Evernote, I’ve been with them since day one. Just please listen to your customers!
