The iPhone app will not connect to your bank accounts and end up locking you out of your accounts. Horribly poor.

I loved this app. It changed my expenses life. Unfortunately after using smart reports for 6 months, they took them away. There's a paid version. i tried it. No smart reports. Without it, my company wants me to enter everything into their form. I've tried online support. They respond to a question every 2-3 hours. If you have a follow up question is another 2-3 hours. So disappointing. This was a great app. Now, its frustrating and comparable to a scanner. Bring back smart reports. Please.
Needs lots of improvements... 1/5
Work needed related to customizing what you can and want to see for CC uploads. Also if you reject something - an easy way for the employee to resubmit. Work needed on the auto photo upload...takes a long time - easier for me to walk to scanner and submit all at once. Also ...need to be able to take two sided page photos and attach to one expense. Could go on..but while it's better than the excel version of expense reporting...this app & software has lots of little ways that it could be improved.

I just tried to take a photo of a receipt on my iPhone X and… we have a problem Houston. The keyboard doesn’t go away and I can’t take a picture! I tried everything I could think of and gave up.
I like the new interface and I’m confident you will fix this little glitch on a wonderful APP. It makes our life soooooo much easier.

I started using this this app several years ago at the recommendation of a client. I like the fact that I can go paperless and get rid of all the paper receipts however being that I’m a self-employed person and some of my receipts don’t have the title of the store or restaurant or wherever (ex. New York City taxi) scanning gets a little bit more confusing and I have to manually type that in additionally and the system doesn’t recognize the manually entered receipt with automated same receipt once it’s posted to my account. 2)expense reports this past year have not been updating the correct total. I can see the amounts I entered for each receipt and the total does not reflect those. 3) another real BIG problem is that there is no phone number to speak to a customer service person which is extremely frustrating and very needed because it takes up to three days to have an issue resolved. For example- I have my own s Corp however paying to send expense reports to myself makes no sense. I tried undoing this but then I was unable to access past folders. Customer service via email did a poor job of explaining and didn’t refund me. Also the app often loses marked categories when I manually enter in. I’m not sure why that is. The categories show up on the computer but not on app. I do hope this can be fixed.

Finally beginning to listen to your users. The last update that opens the app where someone left off is a thoughtful UX touch that makes a big difference to me (I hated the inbox because I had absolutely no use for it). Now your next biggest step towards customer satisfaction should be the implementation of expense search filters in the iOS app. C’mon guys, it’s about time!

Mobile interface is not bad and receipt scanning from a photo is decent, but very occasionally loses receipts in the scanning process, which is obviously a huge mess when you are scanning back-to-back or reconciling and limits that feature’s efficacy. Also lacks search, which is odd.

All the time this appear and I’m unable to upload expenses, I’ve to cancel and reinstall the app loosing expenses and redo the work again.

I really like this app it creates detailed reports that can be emails as PDF to your accounting department. However, I am not a fan of the smart scan feature. It slows the camera down and doesn't read my receipts because I block out my personal information. So I have to click around until it lets me edit the receipt. Expensify get rid of your smart scan I think more people would use it.

Do not try this service. I spent over 30 days trying to get this running and I got nowhere. They do not have a call center. You basically need to figure it out for yourself. In the end, I dropped them. Not worth the time.

The app is fantastic, but when asking for upgrade it doesn't tell you how much it is only shows you that you are on a 7 day trial.
It would be best to show the amount before the user allows to start the trial.

The app has so many options and settings, you’re bound to have questions. Yet when you email customer support, you get contradictory answers (if they reply at all). Also, no matter how many times you send them receipts from certain vendors and point out the mistakes Expensify has made in parsing them, you’ll get back the same copy-and-paste reply: “We apologize, we’re looking into this” — and then nothing ever changes.
This app is awesome! All my Lyft receipts are automagically recorded for the tax man.

I can't turn off auto submit I have been deducted for payments accidentally added due to this auto submit feature that I did not add. Please give an option to turn it off I can only submit weekly expenses. Useless!

Not easy to upgrade account 1/5
This app brings you full circle. I've spent way to much time tryin to find the page where I upgrade. I found the pricing page online which takes me to the App Store. I go to the App Store and it take me online. Supports telling me to go to the pricing page but on the pricing page, again, I am directed to download the app. Another receipt scanning app? Pretty soon if developers and support cant figure it out how to make money, they have some screws looses in their system.

Mandatory Smart Scan ruins the experience 1/5
Smart Scan never worked for me. It takes a long time and does not produce results. Having to stop it manually in order to add more detail to the expense has elongated the process of logging receipts to the point of unbearable. Please let us turn off Smart Scan.
Aside from this "feature", the program is fine. Nothing laudable but not horrible.

I like the app like the capture feature. What I don't like is the app closing my expense trip before I am done update the expense and then not allowing me to go back and edit. I travel for my business I just started using the app and creat my travel report start to put items in as they happened and both reports closed and submitted before I was finished completing them, you can't go back and edit before submitting for approval not that I need to approve it, I just do it for keeping track for tax purposes... maybe I am missing how to fix reports.

To be clear- this is a review of the app, not Expensify as a whole. In general, love Expensify! The app, however, seems to try to “help” in some ways that are pretty annoying. I’m the admin for approving reports, and the only way to approve them from my phone is to use the review process- something I find tedious and annoying, so I instead wait and do it from my computer.
I get that they think that’s a good way to do things, but ultimately that should be my decision. Being forced to use it this way keeps me from being able to take my job as mobile as I’d like.
Would appreciate some more “manual” views and options.

This is the first app I ever rated. It's that bad. It is almost impossible to get support. You can't downgrade or delete your account from the app. It took me the entire week of my free trial I didn't know I was on to figure out I was about to get billed and cancel. Also the scan thing is also super slow.

Slow, Clunky, and Inadequate 1/5
I've been using this app for a while and it's just not getting any easier. People said give it a chance there's a learning curve. You know what? I've been using it for a while and it's just not user-friendly. can't delete old reports that never were submitted so they're still open. Can't add new reports without having to reboot my phone. The automatic classification will not figure out the category the expense is a sign to even though that's what it supposed to do. The developers need to review all of this App. How about if you focus on making it actually work. Skip all the fancy features and just make it work.

Because no email was ever sent for me to verify my account. Can't find a way to ask for another to be sent. Can't find any help. So, wasted time and money.

The website is very easy to use, but the app lacks basic, important features. There’s no easy way to search for specific expenses using keywords or apply a time range to the list of expenses.

You can login via Google through the website but you can't use Google auth within the app. There really is no reason that Google auth isn't supported.

I have tried many ways of managing expenses across projects and clients expensify works brilliantly. Mostly I like the ease of emailing and scanning receipts with auto the management of items and reporting is so easy. I also have set up some custom templates for reporting which works well too. I'm giving it 4 stars because Sometimes scanning just loses things and the automatic allocation to reports can mean expenses seem lost. Finally the there is limited credit card import to expense match, or at least many misses. Having said all that I've not found a better product and I tried many.
GPS mike tracking inconsistent 2/5
When I first downloaded Expensify and started using it. Mike tracking worked perfectly. After the more recent updates it will stop tracking the miles and you have no idea how many miles you have actually driven. Please fix as this is the main reason I utilize this app.

This app is solid. Helps me stay up to date while on my trip by uploading everything quickly into my expensify account without having to deal with my expenses at a later time. Only issue is the SmartScan takes longer than me inputting. Wish I could just input and not wait for the smartscan

I’m a paying customer, not just using the free version. The app continues to ask me to have access to my contacts! Why? You do not need access for expense reports! Remove the annoying screen asking for permission that pops up every time I open the app. I want to open and record and expense! Is that to much to ask???
I finally allow Expensify to access to my contacts to remove the annoying message, and then immediately removed it. Now when I try record an expense, it just spins and and states uploading. So dumb!

A real time saver.... Literally! 5/5
I'm very happy to have discovered this app. For years I had relied solely on pen, paper, & staples to keep track of my work expenses, mileage, and hours. There were more than a few occasions where I'd forget to carry a pen .... lose a receipt.... Etc. I don't have to worry about any of those annoyances using this app. Everything is well organized and the interface is very user friendly. Id highly recommend getting this app to any record keeping professional.
Doesn't seem to remember rules, smart scanning is never correct, too much unnecessary navigation.
Update. 10 tickets later no resolution.

I don't like the latest version. It's so complicated now to submit an expense. Now you have to take a picture first, enter the data, and then go to the expense again to complete entering the information. Before, you were able to do it all at once. Please go back!

App creates policies for expenses without user direction, then closes reports and you cont modify them on mobile device.

Ok but GPS feature constantly malfunctions 2/5
I use this app to report my work expenses. I have no issues other than the fact that the GPS is constantly crashing! I use this feature to track my mileage and unfortunately it's not reliable. It happens at least once a week. When it happens, it basically freezes and will not unfreeze for days, sometimes even even after I log out and back in to the app. It's annoying to say the least.
