Great collection...but 5/5
I really enjoy Flipboard...for all things not political. If you’re looking for political topics, it seems very biased, very slanted with a lot of negative articles...of course mostly directed at Trump. I would like to see a balance. Chris I understand that these are drawn from the media outlets and most media are a bunch of leftist blah blah blah. But I would like to read balanced journalism. Outside of the political articles they do offer a wide variety of interests and I like the email feature that articles arrive in your mailbox

Left-winged political garbage 1/5
Updated for 2018:
I’ve decided sadly that it’s time to delete Flipboard. I used to view Flipboard everyday, I could handle the UI changes but this shift from a great app to some left-winged bias push... I just can’t take it anymore. If you’re someone like myself, who just wants to read unbiased news, instead of left-wing political garbage. I suggest you stay away.
The new interface is absolutely awful and VERY much disappointing. It seems as if flipboard is moving away from its roots and becoming just like any other news feed app. The "flip-like" features have dwindled, the interface is so boring and almost reminds you more of RSS feeds. I really hope they consider reverting back. Would even be willing to pay for the change.
I use this app every single day. It is so user-friendly, gives me all the information I want and news feeds are updated instantaneously!
Flipboard Tailored to My Interests 5/5
Flipboard is great for letting me make my own magazine out of various subjects, topics, and news sources. I can skim over articles or really dive into the subject matter. It is tailored to suit my interests and need for information.
Best way to view the news 4/5
By Latitude 38.
Get your news tailored to your views also have what your views are in your own news mag . It’s your best source of what interests you most
Flipboard asked me to rate the app in an in-app pop up. Trying to submit 1 star was not allowed. That’s pretty shady. So why one star? The app sends you to the publisher to read the article, that’s why. But why is this bad? Well, any ad-blocker u might have installed in Safari does not work in Flipboards “web-browser”. So to read an article you end up downloading megabytes of ads and ad-tracking scripts from every publisher. Safaris Reader View is of course not available so you are not only forced to download every ad, but also have it in your face. In addition, Flipboard inserts its own full page ads you cannot pinch out of. The whole Flipboard experience is bad for your data plan, bad for your privacy and bad for your health. Apples own mediocre News app is just better. Better curated, better privacy and better for your data plan. If you like Reddit, forget it, Flipboard does a poor job and leave curation to third party idealist. Basically any particular website you want to add to Flipboard is poorly presented and not curated unless it is part of an idealists “magazine”. You can imagine how up to date such a magazine is after a while.
Too many emails! 1/5
I like news, but Do NOT like email notification......makes me flippin mad!
Co-host topics 5/5
I’m a co-host on Freedomizer Radio Proof Negative Show 9pm est. I love gathering stories from small journalists and near stories from around the world. Their is even a ‘pool of good news’ Page I subscribed too. Thanks for making my job easy and informing for everyone else.
(Do do site where I have received the story and often advertise for free!)
Flipboard’s Evolution 1/5
Boy has flipboard changed over the years. Some definite positives but most notably to a users experience is the obvious greed that has seeped into every corner of the App. Each article and fees is relentlessly and saturated shamelessly with ads to drive revenue.
A pity, what was once a great app has fallen so far.
A long time Flipboard user(Since it came as a stock App on Samsung)
Your passion is most likely covered. Highly recommended.
Concept great but... 1/5
regardless of news you customize...it manages to still deliver top news that is mostly liberal and anti-trump. I was looking for unbiased news but it’s algorithms are left leaning...delivering CNN news to me upon opening the ap when it’s a source I didn’t select...and when most of the news sources I did select were conservative.
Flippin Fine App 5/5
I like the simplicity and relevance of Flipboard. I never want to go back to just scrolling through news.
Best single source for my information 5/5
I get more of the news, information, and insights I want from Flipboard than any other source. This makes staying informed easy and engaging. I have general and specific news groups. My favorite app because I’m a dedicated reader.
My best source of news and info. 5/5
My most used and valued app.
It’s a hassle to comment on articles, specially if it’s a popular one. First you have to tap “comments” then scroll all the way down past every comment posted before you can add yours! That’s a stupid design!
Best App 5/5
Great way to see all news aggregated.
Tailor made news feed 5/5
By Chiricano 2001
With a vast array of topics and interests I can select, this feed gives me a steady stream of relevant and interesting news. Well done! Best rating. I send great articles to friends every week.

Sets the bar. Excellent blows Apple News out of the water.
Great App 5/5
To me Flipboard has the most interesting and informing articles.
The Best 5/5
Flipboard has the perfect recipe for news. The ability to organize news topics in the form of magazines is quite ingenious. Outstanding!!
Use it Daily 4/5
By Odyssey TV
Use it each day to find out what is happening in the world🌍👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.
Would like to be able to tell people to subscribe to magazines that I created. Check out my work @earthtrek360.
Love all the articles, everything is so informative and interesting, love the flip through pages ❤️
Not quite as good as the old Pulse reader before LinkedIn bought it 4/5
Solid reader with a few odd limitations, for instance, the number of pages of sources before you have to go through extra steps to read them. More and more sponsored content sneaking in lately as well.
Love it but a flaw or two 4/5
Have enjoyed this app for years but now more of their sources(eg. NYT and Washington Post) looking for paid subscriptions. Very annoying. If I wanted to pay five papers to read a couple each’s articles I would. Go for Flipboard for variety and disparate points of view. Perhaps not for much longer. Will miss it much.
Love it.. but... 4/5
This is one of my favorites! The comment sections are fun. However, I noticed some political biases w/ what comments stay up and which don’t, DEPENDING ON THE ARTICLE. I don’t believe in censorship and I have caught on to this unfortunate trend as others have too.
Love Flipboard 5/5
I have been using it for years never any issues. Love that you can customize what channels to get and The news you want.
Too Good 5/5
By Mac Drė
Honestly my only complaint is that it's too addictive and I use up all my data every month...
I'll stick with Apple News... 1/5
I really like Flipboard but while adding all my news I'm limited to just 9 categories? Seriously? So I have to pick just 9 categories out of tons of possibilities in order to get news tailored to me? Who is it actually tailored for? Me or Flipboard? Never mind. Limited capabilities means not fully in the know in regards to news. I'm not going to choose a few categories and not be able to view others because the developers don't know what they're doing. Apple doesn't give you thus restriction so I'll just stick to that app. Runs smoother anyways. This one is choppy.
Account Required 1/5
No thanks, I'll pass.
Guess I’ll never know... 1/5
whether this is a great execution or not. I don’t use apps that I have to create an account for. Go peddle your aggregating software to Android users-they don’t care about security or phishing.
Fails on Facebook posts 3/5
Twice now, while writing a post to FB, this app has magically exited the editor, losing several minutes of my writing, and dumped me back into the article I was attempting to post on FB. This has happened with different items on different days and does not happen consistently - some posts work just fine. Both times, the material I was typing was several sentences, which made it even more annoying. I’m using an iPhone 8 with the latest iOS. I live this app but no longer try to post articles to FB from it unless I don’t intend to add any commentary. Instead, I go to another news source and post from there.
APPLE NEWS is better. Waaay better 1/5
Flipboard is far behind AppleNews. It lacks the simplicity and to the point interface with customized articles that provide elegant and immersive experience.
Nice app 4/5
Love the app and the various news sources/feeds it recommends, based on what I read. Removed one star because it doesn’t resume where I left off when I switch back to the app (say after pressing the Home button) so need to flip all the way thru articles I’ve read to get to where I was. Wish the app could remember where I left it and just resume at that article.
I live this app, but I keep getting botnet warnings and notifications from my firewall when I use Flipboard. I guess I will be forced to discontinue using it to avoid this potential problem.
Updated review 5/5
Developer responded and the app is currently glitch free!!! Back to Flipboard I go.
[This has always been a 4 or 5 star app, for me, but the latest update has made it unwatchable. It flashes with every page flip on the iPhone X. I've switched to Apple's native News app until the next update.]
My primary source of information!! Thank you for this app 5/5
Just cant go a day without getting updated on most interesting topics i care for. Flipboard can’t be better, love the app! Changed my life basically. Thank you!!
The "F" Word FLIPBOARD 5/5
This is one F word I like to repeat., FLIPBOARD Everything I want to read in one place. I truly love this app. and for an old jaded guy that is saying something. Well done app dudes and dudetts.
Only one complaint, I would like to see more stories about and for Baby Boomers. Please keep up the good work.
My favorite source of news articles 5/5
Flipboard collates news stories from more diverse sources of news than your usual news apps. Stories are tailored to my interests, but not necessarily limited to my way of thinking, or where I would usually go to find stories.
If I had to pick one place to source all my news from Flipboard would be my choice. Well done!
Not a day without Flipboard 5/5
I read a lot, and my go to site is Flipboard, don’t have a day without it.
Mixed Real and Fake news 2/5
By Blunt w/o Filter
Flipboard doesn’t screen the articles viewed on this app. You have use your research to legitimize articles you read. The dangers of fake and often radical, plus racist publishers are rampant!! It’s hard to distinguish what’s real or what is made up. You do have the option to mute these articles and I frequently do. I’ve ask support about these problems and they won’t lift a finger.
Please stop 4/5
I think this app is great but please stop including articles that I can not read. Especially the Wall Street Journal...nothing is more annoying than clicking to find only the first 2 sentences and ad to buy a subscription.
Used to love, now it's all ads 3/5
I don't know if this is Apple trying to push their News app, but ever since that came to be, Flipboard feels limited. It's not as good as what it used to be. Every other page is an ad now, supposedly curated for me, with things like superhero movies and crafts for sale on Etsy that are of no interest to me. Miss the old version and hope it comes back
Easy ways to change my profile 3/5
Or maybe it’s there and I’m missing it
My review 5/5
Better than Apple news !!
Great place to get all your news plus more 5/5
Love this app. It’s great for organizing the news and other sources of reading all in one place.
Flipboard ruined what was once a well-executed, decent logo. 3/5
Death of a logo—
Your creative department took a gamble to update the Flipboard logo—which WAS previously very well executed, especially given the limited negative space available with the mega-pixel grid concept—and ruined what used to be an elegant and well thought-out treatment. Now it just looks like an over-simplified profile of a stylized stealth aircraft or an uppercase F that no longer works, losing its finesse. My experience (25y) suggests that the concept using various tints of red (no 100% or 0%) for the squares (pixels), wasn't just an elegant solution, but really the only way to execute an uppercase F in a grid forced to use a stylized minimalist treatment using same sized squares. Now it's ruined, sadly.
Flipboard generally speaking—
I've found Flipboard to be a mixed experience. Obviously they use some combinations of curated and partially automated content using some type of scraper that grabs content from a selection of popular media products, though sometimes there's evidence of the lack of standardization in reformatting the content and a conflict results in nasty looking design and formatting. I haven't looked "under the hood" at the code, but suspect some combination of pointing to an alternate CSS source generating Flipboard looking content so everything fits the tell-tale Flipboard design. A smart thing to do which emerged in the early days (1994) on the web, but had always endured a controversy regarding usage rights and advertising inventory control.
Having said that, the attempt to layer a social component with commenting on articles etc is a real negative. What you get is a sort of isolated body of comments from F users, in a poorly designed interface and very lacking in a sensible timestamp hierarchy. It's also fairly heavy on the trollfarm vibe. Avoiding this area would likely improve your entire F experience.
My favorite part of F is the entire look and feel. It has benefited from a clean and smart and attractive design that relies on great photography and has mostly been well designed. Except for the logo tragedy, they seem to be maintaining a sense of consistency adhering to the established design. Good idea.
Content selection issue—
In the saturated world of internet content, competition for readers has spawned an increasingly pervasive clickbait problem often dominated by simply less than reliable subject matter. In particular, as an example, on Flipboard of you select to see content related to mental health you will encounter a rather disproportionate amount of less than legitimate and highly subjective content. The problem here is that this subject matter IS one of a serious nature where misinformation can index be dangerous. A common example would be the zillions of articles with such headlines as "Hack your depression without your family finding out," or similarly irresponsible subjects.
Another aspect in addition to misinformation had to do with the way our society views and prioritizes mental health issues such as depression or anxiety in a manner that instead of addressing the issues with the substantive gravity such serious diseases and disorders deserve, there are examples of content that trivializes or otherwise treats these issues as of they can be treated or "cured" using completely unrealistic or scientifically or clinically or unsubstantiated methods. Perhaps in the Flipboard editorial staff were to give some thought on different ways to tag or categorize things more effectively someone won't find themselves reading the millionth article on depression that claims that "fresh organic fruit juices can treat anxiety," or "exercise rids depression." This type of article typically only serves to trivialize the seriousness of mental illness—most specific clinical depression which is a major cause of death in America and the world.
The reason is because of the pervasive lack of education and awareness of a disease notorious for being very insidious, nuanced and most of all the subject of dismissal and even denigration. Depression in particular is so commonly undiagnosed in some instances and then under diagnosed in others. Some societies shame and ridicule people who say they suffer from depression, causing sufferers to hesitate to seek treatment. Sadly, this is so common that it exacerbates the incidence of suicide by those who are stricken with a horribly debilitating condition who are reluctant or afraid of being stigmatized for a variety of reasons.
A humble yet very serious request—
If Flipboard would please give this very popular and very unique category of content the very serious consideration their readers deserve, embracing a more proactive editorial and curatorial stance with respect to this critical issue, everyone involved will be better informed and more empowered citizens resulting in healthier communities, a happier world with less pain and suffering from very common, very real and indeed treatable mental illnesses that take entirely too many lives from our world.
Really like the Food + Recipe content and would be great to look at innovative ways to manage custom filtering add organization of recipes in articles. Hint: recipe people typically like less banter and just the details. If F could figure out an elegant way to scrape recipes from the recipe articles (these days recipes are way to chatty—just give me the deets) and allow readers to sort of collect their own database, perhaps provide a few options in terms of formatting the ingredients and instructions from the recipe, and I think you could potentially birth a new content asset which might serve as a powerful destination offer to attract new readers. (New ad inventory!) I realize there are agreements that come with restrictions associated with usage rights regarding content providers, but if you do this in such a way that the outcome remains living on the app/site only, I doubt many would object.
Apple Watch App Broken 2/5
I like this app it’s very interactive & personal but it unfortunately does not work on my watch.
A fan looking for some flyover satisfaction 4/5
A great way to expand your world view with Flipboard’s cleverly-curated content. I’m often delighted to be presented an article I wouldn’t normally see on the regular sites I frequent. Can anyone say, “prehistoric long-tailed spider entombed in amber?”
One thing I’d change: every single political article is anti-Trump, often strongly so. Either give me some way to opt-out of the negative coverage, or present me with conservative (vs liberal) options.
Even those of us in flyover states have feelings!
First off I love the app. But lately there seems to be a glitch when I flip stories. I don’t know exactly where it came from but it’s very annoying. When I flip to a different story it seems to double flip at the end of the flip. It’s a really annoying glitch.
I really enjoy the articles and the way they are 5/5
Presented by Flipboard. I find something interesting update to reuse almost every time I fire up the app. Keep up the good work
