  • I like the app! 4/5

    By Supernova1985
    Easy to use!
  • So much better than the default mail app... 5/5

    By Tstarbow
    it’s not even funny.
  • Lacks essential iOS productivity functions 2/5

    By sethlong
The app is, overall, fine. Google’s Material UI looks out of place on iOS but that’s not the end of the world. What IS a big deal, though, is the complete lack of support for iPad’s split-screen and slideover features. This could be overlooked if these were new features in iOS, but they aren’t. At all. Other Google apps, like Docs and Sheets, support these modes (though it was a long wait) and it’s really inexcusable that Gmail doesn’t. The app also doesn’t have a watchOS version, which means that Gmail users have to resort to using or a 3rd party mail app to use a Gmail account on watchOS. Finally, the swipe actions in message list views aren’t configurable like the ones in other mail clients. Swiping left or right on a message offers the exact same single action, rather than several. Yes, you can set that single action to be either delete or archive, but users can’t expose a menu of choices like they can in Spark or even These missing features prevent Gmail from being a truly great productivity app for Apple users.

This app needs to be updated so it works with the iOS 11
  • Notifications 3/5

It's showing I have 3 unread emails but there is not any there. But it's a great app.
  • Badging doesn’t clear! 1/5

    By m7zhao
This started happening in the past few days, I have a persistent 2 unread badge on the app icon even though I have no unread emails. Please fix this!
  • Notification problem. 3/5

    By JulieJubz
Keeps telling me I have emails even though I don’t. Doesn’t matter what I do to the email I get. If I read them or delete them or whatever, when I exit the app it will still tell me I have an unopened email. Not even shutting down the phone will make it go away. And of course I don’t want to shut off notifications because that is the whole point of the app. Please fix!
  • Badge number error 1/5

    By BJ Reed
Since installing iOS 11, the badge number reporting the number of unread emails is wrong. After I read my emails, the badge number should then disappear but it doesn’t. I have to reboot my phone and then reopen gmail for the badge number to be correct. But as soon as I get a new email and read it, the badge number is wrong again.
  • Good app 4/5

    By Ajspade
I would rate this a 5 but, I have a couple issues with it. One, it doesn’t always clear off the count after I delete an email. Second, I have a couple different emails that show in notifications but I have to go to my computer to read or remove them. If those two issues could be fixed, it would be a 5 star app. It is a good app though and I enjoy it.
  • Love the notification sound 5/5

    By Prettty Aejay
At first I was kind skeptic about downloading this app since I have a built in mail app on my iPhone, but since I am a curious cat and loves to try different stuff I did download and liked it! Easy to and the interface is nice and smooth.
  • Great - one bug though 5/5

    By bananka
Gmail has been working as great as ever. But after the recent update, there’s a bug where a red badge is on the app icon but there are no unread messages in any of my accounts.
  • Notifications 5/5

    By V-Hat
Just as a note, I love this app. I use gmail for everything. But ever since updating to iOS1-, the notification bubble refuses to go away. The only time it clears out is if I get to my computer to check my email. A minor annoyance, but still an annoyance, and one I hope is fixed soon!
  • Getting used to it 3/5

At first I was ready to delete the app (the Red that you can't change REALLY bothers me) but I am starting to like the app a bit more. Still debating on whether to keep it. Would love the ability to customize colors of the app.

  • iOS 11 update notifications 3/5

    By ScottD85
Since updating phone and iPad to iOS 11 I’ve noticed a significant lag time between reading a message and the badge count updating to reflect the actual change. Annoying but not stopping me from using the app.
  • Great app - 2 Feature requests! 4/5

    By jefftb78
I’d like to see two things: 1) search labels box at top when selecting a label to apply to an email. I have a lot of labels and it is a pain to find. 2) when swiping on an email, swiping left or right both offer same action. Allow different actions depending on swipe. I would love to swipe one way for delete and the other way for archive.
  • This app is great! 5/5

  • Badge icon is stuck 3/5

Should have downloaded this a while ago. Much better functionality than the iPhone mail app.
  • Quick and easy 4/5

    By Crosby052011
I couldn't give it a five stars because I haven't use it much. It's so nice to have on the app instead of going on internet and logging in step by step.
  • Probs since iOS 11 2/5

Notification badges don’t clear for hours in Gmail or Inbox since the iOS 11 update.
  • So much easier! 4/5

    By Tryingtohelp111
Just the delete feature alone has sold me on this app. I love how it groups similar type messages together (I.e. Advertisements). It helps to keep my inbox less cluttered. This apps a keeper

  • Annoying bug 2/5

Badge app icon often shows “1” when there is no unread mail. The problem only resolved when you restart the phone. Very annoying.
  • All gmail accounts in the same page? Nope! 1/5

    By chad smith in NYC
The one single reason I keep denying the Gmail app for iOS is you can’t have all of your emails in front of you from all of your accounts at the same time. Apple Mail app does. There’s nothing about email apps that can really “outshine” the competition. It’s email. Nothing fancy. But, I do happen to have multiple Gmail accounts and don’t like switching to view messages. I want to see them all at the same time. I just downloaded it again set it up and deleted it in under 3 minutes. Get it right Google.

  • More than just email 5/5

    By Bonanzabonz
I love how google integrates gmail, maps, G+ for one consolidated experience. Not only does it allow for us to essentially kill two or three birds with one stone, but it also consolidates interests which brings more content to you, which would otherwise be missed. Other companies do this, but google does it so much better. As for the Gmail app itself, automatically color coordinating like topics and senders and making it easier to add attachments and customize the app is a big win. Love it
  • Get rid of so many ads 4/5

    By Lashtx
A little dab will do ya...I get more ads than emails. Gets irritating.
  • Helpful! 4/5

    By GirlOfPi
This app really helps me organize everything. I just wish you could customize it instead of red with white and some red on the side, and oh look! White! Quite predictable, boring, and not very calming. Other than that It is great.

Works flawlessly for me. Very useful app. I use it daily. Also very useful in backing up other email apps.
  • Unhappy 1/5

    By Alissav143
Every time I spam messages they come up in my primary still. Also I hate the fact that you can only delete all spam or all trAsh but one by one have to click to delete regular ones.
  • Best Email App I’ve Used 5/5

    By Uriah F.
I use several email apps daily for different accounts, but Gmail crushes them all in speed, reliability, usability and overall experience. LOVE that the inbox is split between important things, promotions and social stuff and only notifies you about the “true” inbox stuff—I would go bonkers without it!
  • Ugh 1/5

    By kgryffindor111
I'm so mad that I can't revert back to the old version---it was harassing me to update but I wish I had just stuck it out. What an ugly "cutesie" interface and so clunky to use. Gonna go ahead and switch to a third party app, this is not worth the hassle Update: I never use Microsoft products but after trying out a couple third party clients I went ahead and switched to outlook for the iPhone and I've been happily surprised. It's a much more streamlined interface and much easier to use. And no horrible red.
  • Bug with notifications 3/5

    By Nooooooooo0o
Since the most recent app update, notifications do not disappear after an email has been read. I’ve tried reloading, but it still looks like I have unread mail, when I don’t. Otherwise this is a solid app.
  • Reviews not very insuring 1/5

As much as I'm always updating apps, I'm starting to read the reviews about new and improved apps! Well I'm not impressed with the updated version of gmail. So I'm not updating till you update your update. Don't want to lose you gmail, but I can always go to Yahoo !

  • Since iOS 11 badges remain 4/5

    By FranktheTank7468
Since the update, the red badge remains after I’ve opened a new email. It take quite a while. I keep thinking something new has come in. Not the worst thing I. The world, of course, but a little annoying. Otherwise, five stars.
