Love it 5/5
By 🌗🌠old TM player
I’ve been kind of bored with all my apps and I’ve been looking for something more informational. I have oodles of art pos and they’re great, it’s awesome to just browse through art. This app takes it further and provides so much incredible information and learning on all kinds of art. I haven’t been able to tear myself away from this app and have actually found myself clicking on this over Twitter, fb, instagram, etc.
Nice app 4/5
Love it but... 4/5
I loved this app, I would only suggest adding more art movements, I mean there is already a ton of info very well structured but I would love to see the oldest art movements to now days art in the timeline!
Bloated selfie app 2/5
By Kana Mauna
This app is interesting but let's face it, the only thing anybody cares about is the selfie section. Some of the hits are close if the viewer is drunk but others are just off the rails hilariously bad. Virtually none of the heads look like each other, which would seem to be a basic requirement. Google gets the sex right but everything else, including race, is pretty random. Hope the TSA is not using this technology.
More importantly, why can I not scan my dogs? Come back when you add that feature.
By Raine Elise
I thought I would use this app to help me study for AP Art History, and it worked well with the later pieces but most of the time the app didn’t have access to earlier art. It was disappointing considering it claimed to be an art and culture app, but then fell short of showing important pieces that molded what we know today to be modern sculpture and architecture.

Can’t figure out how to take a selfie to be compared. I can’t find it on the home page or anywhere. How do I get to if?
App 5 stars many reviewers -1 star 5/5
It has long been obvious that all too many reviews (not just in the app store but of restaurants, products, etc.) tell us more about the reviewers than what they review. But never has it been more obvious than this.
By any rational and even semi-informed measure this app deserves very high marks overall. While I can nitpick with the best, for a FREE app which is constantly improving and evolving, the features, content and execution of this app are exceptional. Joe and Jane Average user are absolutely clueless about the time and effort that goes into something like this, but even that aside there seems to be little rational thought behind many reviews.
The one small feature/experiment for matching your selfie is a perfect example. With apparently zero consideration of factors such as the relatively small number of distinct pieces of art with which to compare, people are giving the ENTIRE app a low rating because they don’t like the results from this one little side-show fun-feature. And then there is the clueless person talking about the bias (inaccuracies) of the matches reflecting the bias of the developers! Typical, a critic claiming bias but really just demonstrating their own bias and ignorance.
Insulted yet? If so then maybe you should reconsider your review and either give the rest of the app a closer look or stop insulting those who work hard to improve access to the rich world of art and culture that you would otherwise miss while playing angry birds.
just random art 1/5
This app just puts a random piece of facial art beside your pic. Odds are that if you do it enough you’ll see some similarities in a particular work. The fun wears off quickly.

Legal Fail. Is Google becoming big brother? 1/5
Google needs to own up to what they’re doing with biometric face scans, and either address the issue with Texas residents or remove the feature altogether. Banning an entire state from using the features on their app is exclusionist, and I doubt if Google’s intentions were pure that they would refrain from simply including a legal notice for Texas residents (based on state laws, TX residents have the right to know what biometric face scans are used for; Google refuses to comply with this, and instead they just opted out entire LARGE state out of this app’s premier feature.)
I’ve never been disappointed in a Google product—until now (okay, Google+ sucked too). I’m considering trading in my Google Home for an Apple Speaker, if Google doesn’t improve transparency with its users. This is absurd.
Selfie option is no longer 1/5
So I’m hoping they can tell my future...or I’m screwed 5/5
By Shubham @ KLIK
Pure awesomeness, whole bunches of fun
No selfie option 1/5
Google playing politics with an app feature lol really??
Why is the "Is your portrait in a Museum" feature not available to those of us in Texas? 1/5
By Tina McMillan
Seems unreasonable to ban all of Texas because of the jerks who live here. Very disappointed.
Pretty awful recognition 2/5
Great content but the whole find someone that looks like me is seriously flawed
I live in the US (Not Texas or Illinois) 1/5
By Summer Break
And still can't use the face recognition app :') It doesn't show up for me at all. Having about 3/4 of a breakdown trying all the ways to get it.
Selfie tool missing 1/5
Can’t find the selfie tool to compare pics with famous works of art. That is the only reason I downloaded it.
Face feature 4/5
It’s an alright face recognition app and they need more paintings to compare you to
Face match doesn't work in Illinois 5/5
It's a good app but since I live in Chicago, face match doesn't work. Oh well.
IS MY PORTRAIT IN A MUSEUM? 1/5
I wanted to see what all the hype is about regarding the title function. I am on VPN in California from Singapore. I guess I’ll never know because the function does not exist in the app. What possible rational is behind this selective geographical restriction. I do, however, see an inordinate quantity of items related to Singapore museums. Looks like just another sales / clickbait app...
By chloe bologna
Downloaded for the selfie thing, staying for all the awesome features. Super cool!
To the random guy who left a comment implying because the selfie feature occasionally shows a Caucasian painting when he is a mixed asian that google has a biased to white people and thinks google needs to hire more diversity.
The project manager for the selfie experiment is asian.
Many options unavailable in Texas 1/5
By Maude Dunlop
Such potential. I hope this venture improves
Great app 4/5
By Jamie Lawlers computer
Love the app but if you guys can make it so that you can get out of what your looking at by swiping back rather than having to press the upper corner it would be much more convenient.
No selfie option 1/5
The main reason everyone downloads the app...the selfie comparison to artwork with the match % isn’t even a feature! Huge disappointment.
Great app 3/5
By The wiz biz channel
The app works well and has great stories not to mention the selfie feature which by itself is really cool. The only thing this app needs is a video to go along with its stories. Most of the stories are great but about halfway through reading I get bored and think, this would be way better if they had a short video to just tell me all this. Anyway great app
Please add dogs and cats 4/5
That would be hilarious
Love it! 5/5
Love this app! I like that I am able to see these things up close and reading about the history of some of my favorite things!!!
Stupid app. 1/5
All I want is the selfie app. Please don’t make me dig through the actual arts and culture features of this boring app to get there.
Love I️t 5/5
Super Fun and Educational 😍 so glad this exists.
No selfies because...Texas? 1/5
I’m traveling and decided to try the selfie stuff. Can’t find it but have been given the impression it’s because I’m in Texas. Is this due to one of the old Blue Laws Texas used to have... or still does? I’m sad 😟🤪
Where is the portrait feature? 1/5
After all the hype, the link to the portrait feature is nowhere to be found. Meh.
The best thing Google made. 5/5
By Shane G.S
I love exploring and looking at the world!
Bummed I can’t use the coolest feature 1/5
Sad just sad
Okay but.. 4/5
I think that this app is really fun but there should be an option to select a photo from your camera roll.
Selfie doppelgänger doesn’t work? 1/5
I live in Houston Texas.. one of the biggest cities in the US and it doesn’t even exist for me.. GG Google ya did a good job (sarcasm).
LOVED IT 5/5
IT HAD ME AT HELLO!! FUN APPLICATION EVERYONE LOVES ART!! AND THIS APP CAN DEFINITELY EXPAND YOUR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE ART WORK AND THE ARTIST!!! LOVE IT!!
Oh lawd 2/5
You can make the derpiest of derp faces and it matches you will a fine art goddess.
Slightly annoyed, but overall super cool! 4/5
So here, I, like a majority of others, have downloaded this app for the selfie thing which seems super cool! Sadly, for some reason Chicago doesn’t have access to it yet which is a bummer. But I’m not that upset cause I actually really dig art and I think this app has a ton of awesome things to read about and whatnot. So, while not being able to match my face to a famous painting is annoying, it definitely wasn’t the end of the world.
Find your art not working 1/5
Unless I run VPN and connect to the US. What’s up with that?
No art doppelgänger feature 1/5
Only downloaded this app for it's art doppelgänger feature, but apparently that is a NO for Puerto Rico.
Can’t use in Texas 1/5
At least say up front I can’t use your app if I’m in Texas... do t make me have to search the internet to find out you don’t play well in Texas and Illinois. Texas and Illinois? Really? Two states with major metropolitan areas and art scenes and we’re restricted?
Fine, don’t want me to play... I’ll take my ball and go home then.
Friends all have selfie feature; but I don’t? 3/5
By CA Matthews
I downloaded the app today after seeing several friends did the selfie art comparison feature. I don’t live in a “restricted” state and my friends are in the same state. I got all excited and now got a “fail”?! Love the rest of it but feel really left out for no reason.
No access to the facial recognition feature in TX 1/5
By Lauren cs122
Very disappointed not to be able to access the art/selfie comparison feature in TX. Google should correct this, but for now I’m deleting the app.
Museum in a pocket 5/5
Features many great pieces of art with written summaries and curated exhibitions. To those using this app only for selfies and complaining about it, that’s not the main purpose of this app - it’s a marketing scheme to gain new users. If it doesn’t work for you, well... tough.
Not available in Japan 2/5
Selfie option not available in Japan yet, review will change when it does.

AMAZING FREE EDUCATION 5/5
I wasn’t going to write anything but then I just finished your featured thread “12 Artworks You’ll Love to Zoom In On” and oh. My. Goodness.
If you know even a little about visual art appreciation then you need this app. All arts educators download this app. A world of information at your fingertips.
Not only am I able to zoom in (even on my iPhone) I can see EXACTLY where the artwork is housed in. Every detail is given. For free.
I have already learned so much in a matter of minutes. Thank you Google for investing your time, energy, and money into compiling this database. Thank you.
