Awful Smart Home Integration 2/5
By Squatting Hen
I am extremely frustrated at trying to have my smart devices work correctly with Google Home/Assistant.
I have numerous devices all setup with Smartthings, including ceiling fans, lamps, outlets, and light switches that all work with voice commands.
I have been using Alexa for a while now and have not had any issues operating my smart devices, but I did purchase 6 Google Home Minis, with the intention of moving form Amazon to Google. Unfortunately, if what I am experiencing can’t be corrected, I will have to abandon Google Home for Smart Home/Smart Devices.
What I am experiencing is that Google is grouping all of my “lights” “lamps” “outlets” together. This needs to be optional, or we need the option to be able to select which lights/lamps/outlets we would want in this group.
For us, if someone says to turn on the lamp and accidentally forgets to use the name of the lamp, all the lamps turn on. Same with a lights, they all turn on or off. Completely unacceptable.
People sleeping are being woken up because of this. We have kids and if they say turn on my lamp instead of the name of the lamp then all the lamps/lights turn on. All of them. With Alexa, if you don't say the name (or group you create) it will let you know more than one device shares that name, which one did you want? You can then clarify. With that, no unwanted lights turn on or off.
Is there something I am missing? This can’t be right? If so, Google developers must not utilize smart home devices. Or the only have one of each device.
Good, but restricted by apple. 2/5
I love Google assistant. I use it in my home for home control, alarms, questions, etc... However the app on iPhone is restricting. You have to go through steps of opening it like a normal app (I know that's just an Apple thing) but what gets me is reminders and directions. I'll use my Google home to set reminders to do something but my iPhone will not pop up with that reminder at the location or time I chose. Likewise, when I ask for directions it says "I sent them to your phone" but nothing ever come through. I use to be able to get reminders and such on my iPhone but they do not come through anymore like they are supposed to.

Great app 5/5
It's definitely better than Siri but I wish I could say okay google in the app.
Nice, but I think I'll keep Siri. Google is great on Android, and Siri is great on iPhone! I use Google Assistant on my Android devices.
This is awesome but 3/5
Every passing iteration of this app that does not have support for Apple watch annoys me. Google Apple work it out already. You all need each other
Great app!! 2/5
By an iDevice user
Please add support for iPad
Please develop an Apple watch app 4/5
Please develop an Apple watch app
Better then Siri!! Sorry Siri.... (Recommend)! 5/5
Fast and simple as any google product! No lag when speaking or asking google assistant! Siri always had that issue! 🤯 Great alternative if you want a fast and lag free assistant! 🤩
iPad Version 1/5
A great app but there’s no iPad version so don’t use it.
Needs to be iPad Native 3/5
Google Assistant is really nice to have on my iPhone and iPad. It does some things better than Siri, some things worse... mainly it’s more fun but less useful than Siri, but that’s mainly due to lack of system integration.
My main complaint with this app is that it doesn’t run native on iPad. Seriously, at this point what excuse does an app have not to run native on iPad?? Apple has made it extremely easy to scale apps up for the bigger screen and higher resolution, and for an app with as simple of an interface as Google Assistant it would be rather easy to make it run beautifully at fullscreen on iPad using UIKit and AutoLayout. They could also optimize it for SplitView rather easily as well, which would be extremely helpful when multitasking. I hope they get on that, because it would make this app so much better!
I have tried linking my alarm.com account AND my Uber account and the google assistant internal web browser will not complete the link to the respective account. I have performed all app updates possible, I’m on the newest iOS software version, and I have verified that my log in information is correct. Very frustrating after setting up multiple google home devices throughout my house!
Best thing ever 5/5
I like it because it understands every single thing I say in my Indian accent
Needs improvement 3/5
I would like to start off by saying that I have the google home as well. Truthfully the google assistant could use bug fixes/improvements on the fact that it cannot respond and or process multiple sentences at once (ex. Would be asking it multiple questions in one sentence.) Also can’t define government descriptions . Such as (ex. Policies or laws.) last but not least is the hassle of always having it plugged in. It isn’t portable. Billion dollar company but won’t listen to what the people want. Smh lastly is the display on the google assistant app. I think it should display porous of why you're describing or little-handwritten examples or drawings. That is all.
Update feature on google asst 2/5
I really the google home features, I believe if you guys inc the similar on to this app it will help people under stand the use of the google home speaker into their life
I know it works for me
Device overheating what for?! 1/5
iPhone 8 gets too warm even when app is in running in background. Removed after just couple of hours. And phone temperature returned to normal.
This must not happen with google developed app. Care to explain Google?
Expect better from Google 1/5
Overly bloated and no iPad support. This app and Google Home and "the Google app" should be rolled into one and slimmed massively as those 3 apps are a bigger download than Quake III. One star from me, for now.
Unable to connect Hue lights 2/5
I sign in to Phillips and it circles and circles and then it says “something went wrong, try again”.
Every digital assistant is equal 5/5
By bashir the clown
The Google assistant is equal to Siri, Cortana, Alexa, and Bixby. So shut up all you people that are saying that the Google assistant is better than other digital assistants.
Better than Siri but Android version is much better. 5/5
By Agent Cobalt
Very well disigned Asistant.
Please Add Apple Watch 3/5
You have GOT to add an Apple Watch app integration ASAP. I need some way to summon google assistant while my phone is in my pocket. Once you do this, I can finally banish Siri and use google assistant with my airpods + Apple Watch combo. Until you give me a way to call google assistant from the Watch, I am stuck with Siri.
Far better than Siri 4/5
Much more useful and accurate than Siri, which I have given up on.
As an iPhone only (not IPad) app, it will never get a top rating from me 2/5
When they decided that Google Home needs to call Google assistant, they ruined the experience of Google Home. I run an iPad, not an iPhone, and typically I run the iPad in Landscape. When you start google home in Landscape and then Press settings, you are forced to look sideways, or change the orientation of your iPad. This is not acceptable and every release says they are trying to improve the user experience, but they never fix this. So until they do I will continue to only give a couple of stars.
Iphone X - unfortunately app is barely working , lags several seconds on any input
Add iPad support 2/5
Needs iPad support
Best voice assistant app or there! 5/5
This app puts Siri to shame...
Great, but.. 5/5
I love this app I use it more than Siri but I wish there was an apple watch app offered :(
Assistant is fantastic. It understands what I’m saying way better than Siri does and it gives me actual quick information instead of just giving me web searches like Siri does. You can also type into it when you don’t want to speak to it, unlike Siri.
I wish I could replace Siri with google assistant. You should try it out.
Works well 5/5
It works well, especially considering it’s a free app. I can easily access the weather, the news and sports scores. The one disadvantage is that I can’t link it to my Amazon music and Sling TV account (you can link it to the more popular Spotify and Netflix). All in all vastly better than Siri and doesn’t cost anything!
Notifications don’t always work 4/5
I got a couple of google home products for Christmas and was so excited to use them, however, when it came to adding reminders by voice, my notifications would never come up on my phone when it reached the time I set them for. Other than that, app works great.
It won't show things in metric 4/5
By L4 Rey
Please stop showing me things in imperial units. I've already set my phone, my Google account, and everything else to English (Canada) in hopes to get metric Only but this app still refuses to do so. Please change this. That is my only complaint because other than that, this app is bloody fantastic.
Calendar Sync 1/5
I received a Google Home for Christmas. This app and google Home has no way of syncing my calendar. It seems to have eliminated this option since instructions online says there’s is a “calendar” button in the bottom under Services. This does not.
Where support for iPad and Apple watch? 3/5
iPad and Apple watch support is needed.
Wow very cool! 5/5
I have zero smart assistant devices (so far) and wanted to test them out. Alexa app fail...does nothing! Cortana app (after using this) wasn’t that interesting. Now this assistant was fun!!! Just as far as using it as an app...extremely impressed! It knew a lot of things! Distance to movie theater. Closest grocery store correct! Cortana WRONG! Umm Mickey Mouse adventure..too funny and cool and I’m 41. I tried trivia...worked perfectly. Everything I asked...it had either a great answer or was more helpful than Siri or Cortana! I do not like Google saving conversions though. That’s disturbing part. But you can delete them and I hope opt out??? Not sure! Anyway very cool...makes me want a google home mini and sonos system more now. I really still want information terminal (screen like echo show)...then they’re really on to something...which I guess Amazon is ahead in and I do want...but unfortunately Alexa App is useless without other apps devices etc! Anyway google is killing it with this app! Works awesome!
Goodbye Siri 5/5
By Siri Fenbui
The best assistant compared to Siri imo. Common Apple, you can do better. Please listen to your customers.
Doesn’t work 1/5
Recent update refuses to work. It sometimes start with not connected to network error message which is wrong or crash after a blank screen after start up.
It's all right 5/5
Better than Siri I guess
Doesn't respond via text sometimes 3/5
This voice assistant is definitely the best by far. I wish I could make it my default. My only problem with it is that most time it just doesn't respond when I ask for something via text. It happens a lot
MUCH nicer than other assistants 5/5
The google assistant is very friendly and has lots of features
Spanish in speaker jbl link 20 2/5
Necesito que agreguen el español en Google assistant que viene integrado en el speaker jbl link 20.
Great app but... 4/5
By Damian D.
Until recently the app was crashing all the time when sending a text. That seems to have been fixed now.
My only request would be the capability of being able to send video messages. It’s nice that now we can send a picture text but video text would be amazing!
Lots of promise--some bugs 3/5
Very much enjoy using this app. It replaced Siri on my phone for many tasks, including sending text messages (voice language recognition is much better). Nonetheless, some buggy app behavior forced me to abandon it for the time being. Most annoying in my case was a bug interrupting music etc everytime I was on Bluetooth in my car. Assistant's voice would break in with something along the lines of, "Sorry, I'm not able to do that right now, you can do that on your phone." Over and over. Once I removed the app, this behavior stopped. I'll wait for a few more updates before trying this out again.
I ❤️ her 5/5
Google assistant is 10 times better than Siri. She's smarter, and her delivery if just cleaner. Granted there are some limitations to what she can do on the iPhone, but I would honestly rather use Google over Siri. I've owned an Android before with the assistant integrated into the phone and that was amazing. Being able to just ask her to play any of my songs or playlist from Spotify was awesome. In the car I could be totally hands free, she reads and responds to texts flawlessly. Something that I have a lot of trouble with with Siri. She usually can't understand what I'm trying to say which is aggrevating. Idk apple needs to step their game up when it comes to AI. Google is the way to go.
Will not order google home mini. 1/5
I set up google express to order google home mini and it can not find it on Walmart so you can not get the $25 gift cards. Very disappointed.

Much better than Siri!

Google web result and news cards are broken, halving the functionality of the app.
By anonoymus lover
Best app ever
Not very good for iPad! 1/5
Not an app designed for an iPad...for example, screen doesn’t rotate which means your web results when using tablet horizontally won’t be very viewable until you shift the iPad every time....can’t Google at least add a rotation feature to this app??
Amazing features, WONDERFUL INTELLIGENCE, where is iPad support? 3/5
Google Assistant is an amazing tool for doing work, especially as a college student. This tool is disgustingly good for research, spell checking for papers, and an amazing tool for quick facts. The biggest issue I have is, I have to use my Phone and my iPad while doing work because Google has STILL NOT MAD AN APP FOR iPAD FOR GOOGLE ASSISTANT, ESPECIALLY WHEN ASSISTANT IS MADE FOR WORK; LIKE THE iPAD IS.
I Implore you google to add this support, so I can finally rate the App a full 5 stars.
Mic bug 1/5
By Kindle reader88
After installing and setup works great however I can only use the mic in the assistant. My mic for all other apps including default stock apps can not access the mic.
