Absolute rubbish 1/5
I can’t describe how much I hate this app. No matter what I try, my GoPro will not connect to my phone. I’ve tried everything tech support suggested and a bunch of other stuff I found online. Still nothing. It’s so annoying that the app has gotten LESS functional over time. Sort it out GoPro.

I enjoy being able to view my pics from the app. And being able to set the camera up and see what it sees is awesome. It does take a little bit to figure out how to connect to the camera and I keep having to reconnect; it would be better if it was more user friendly in being able to just set it up once and then from then on being able to just open the app and connecting to my camera instantly. That could be from my inexperience though. It does what it says though which is awesome

I’m pretty tech friendly, and this app is not linking with my camera. The camera links up through Wifi, but the app will not recognize the GoPro. Why am I logging in?
No longer converts videos 1/5
I have a 5s iOS 11.3. after update 4.2 the app no longer converts down the 2.7k videos to 1080p during download from GoPro hero5. Even though it says “converting your high res video...” it now just says “Failed: video not supported” I know update 4.2 broke it because I was in the middle of completing the download of my clips from my Hero5 when I upgraded the app. Now I can’t get my files in my phone easily to use Quik. I spent a long time trying other methods but it’s a pain in the rear.
Unusable now, therefore 1 star.
Gopro literally paid for 5 star reviews 1/5
This was a 1.5 star rated app for almost a full year with about 40-60 reviews on each update. Then suddenly in August they got almost a thousand 5 star reviews with poor grammar and English? Incredibly fishy.
Data miners on Reddit found that almost all of the recent 5 star “reviews” were from accounts that had never reviewed a single product beforehand, therefore they were dummy profiles created solely to make a review for this app.
I’ve loved Gopro products but these last updates require a connection and online signup to be able to access your own device you paid money for, something that was never required when most of us long time users bought our gopros. Gopro stock prices have been low so they’re trying to datamine and sell your personal data, do not let the fake reviews trick you.

I have been with GoPro since the beginning. The connectivity between the GoPro and the App is ridiculously slow. The previewing is slow. Changing the options. If I like a photo on the preview I have to wait a minute for the full resolution to be available AND THEN I can download it to my phone. This is beyond frustrating. I’m currently on a trip and I missed a perfect photo opportunity because the preview was taking forever and was being extremely lagging. I turned off all communications between both devices. Re connected. Changed the memory card. Reseted the WiFi and my phones WiFi connection to the GoPro. I mean come on! I was really happy with my GoPro 4 Sliver addition. AT LEAST I COULD CHANGE MY GO PRO WIFI NAME. 😡

Why won’t this work with the hero 3+ anymore?? 1/5
I’m very angry because the app won’t load any of my videos from my hero 3+ silver. Whenever I tap on the video, it takes 15 minutes to load and then says “can’t load video.” The preview doesn’t work either and just glitches everyone I try to use it. It connects to the camera, but it won’t load any videos or the preview and I don’t won’t to have to buy a GoPro hero 5 or 6.....
Login required prevents use outside of cell coverage 1/5
This should be in bold at the top of the app description, so no one else has to suffer lost footage at the apex of the mountain they just conquered.
The decision to require login to use the basic functionality of this app is absurd and at odds with the very core purpose that GoPro was supposedly created to support. I can’t wrap my mind around how this has persisted, except for ensuring marketing data collection as others have noted. This is, of course, also an absurd choice considering you can locally cache that information and eat your cake and have it too*
If you really need help figuring out how to disallow access to cloud-required functionality while still exposing the rest of the wireless preview functions, etc., please feel free to hire me and this can be resolved within a month.
Unfortunately, I don’t think this is a technical problem, I think this is a deliberate choice.

I second the notion that logging in to the app to use it with a handheld piece of hardware is ridiculous and for most users of the hardware, impossible. I’d use it much more without this entry obstacle.

I absolutely love my GoPro Hero 3 Black but the delay with the GoPro app Preview and the time it takes to show the preview is ridiculous. Maybe there is an update somewhere I may have missed. I have my camera in the same hand as my GoPro and it takes 5-10 minutes to show the preview. Then the 20 second delay kills me. Too much time. Please help with any suggestions. Thanks and I am still a huge GoPro fan!

Every time I try to use the app, it defaults to the screen to change your email! Have yet to be able to connect to my Hero 4 using the app, let alone even register my camera with GoPro!

I imported photo from Gopro yesterday and the photos in my iPhone is all 1 January 2015. I'm pretty sure that the cause came from this app. Last time, I import the file was July, it's work.

Turned off notifications completely, cuz it’s just pure advertisement being pushed to my phone’s lock screen. No useful info at all. You know why notifications are called NOTIFICATIONS? It’s cuz the notify and not irritate you with ads. Seriously bad choice with this “feature”

Update October 2017: Don’t be fooled, this app only has high ratings because GoPro used new Apple store policy to let app developers wipe out old ratings, without giving users the ability to see ratings for previous versions! Nothing has changed! This useless app will still require you to sign in. You will not even notice until you are in a foreign country or in the middle of the ocean. It will conveniently log you out for unknown reasons and you won’t be able to log back in. Shame on GoPro and Apple. The end for GoPro is near...
How many one-star reviews does it take for you to realize that we, the users (and potential buyers of your future products) do not want to login to your cloud just to be able to control OUR cameras. I might be in the middle of the ocean when I'm trying to use it. Or I might miss an important moment while trying to login. Just drop it, no one wants it!

Quick Key Stopped working 4/5

I use the GoPro Quick Key for iPhone frequently and it worked great until the latest iOS update. 11.0.2 when it stopped recognizing it being attached. I switched SD cards...uninstalled the GoPro app (formerly Capture) and reinstalled it. Forced a phone reboot, updated the other GoPro apps...and it still hasn’t worked since last week when I updated the iOS. It may need to be updated to recognize the Quick Key with the latest update. Otherwise, I’m very happy with GoPro. Use it professionally all the time. I have the Hero 5 Black by the way.

Transferring on any device from the GoPro is super stupid SLOW. I bought the quick key card reader and once i got updated to iOS 11 it’s functionality went out the window. GARBAGE!!!

As soon as I did the iOS 11 update, my Quik Key SD card reader stopped working. Either it says “No SD Card” or it quits the app in the middle of downloading the files.

After several years of a great app, GoPro has decided they want even more user information & have made that more important than ease of use for an expensive product you have already paid for. Forcing you to create a username and password screwed me because I was in an area with no cell service and unable to view my camera, something that I have done without issue for several years. I found out too late that this latest version of the app allows for limited use without the username and password *only* if the application detects no cell service. This misses the point: GoPro prides themselves on giving the best customer experience with an intuitive device that works flawlessly with minimal anything. This latest app change is the direct opposite of that principle and very disappointing.

Compared to the GoPro 4 days, trying to connect to my GoPro 5 with this new app is a joke. It works 1 out of 10 times. Forget trying to get any media off the device either. It use to be soooo seemless and now it's nearly impossible.

I’ve been using this app for two years and there always seems to be something wrong with it. You guys keep on updating the app because you think it will make it better but in reality it makes it worse. I can’t even use my quick key anymore that I paid $40 for. It’s not even that it’s the device I’m using because I’m using an iPad Pro. I’m on the Drumline and I have to upload my videos to YouTube using the quick key. This is my only method and now I’m thinking I wasted $500 on a bunch of stuff I can’t even show other people.

There's a lot of negative feedback on this app. Not sure why. Pairing is not intuitive. I would never have figured it out on my own. YouTube made it easy though. I think this app is getting unduly poor ratings. People are quick to blame the app when it may just be that they need to get help to know what to do.
This app works great on my 6c iPhone and my GoPro Hero 4 Session. They paired up just fine. The app lets me have full control over the GoPro. It's a wonderful little app. The only down side I can see is that the phone screen goes black when you start recording. It would be nice to be able to have a monitor to view while recording. Thanks for this great app! Well done!

The idea of the app is amazing, but I can’t control my GoPro through the app. For the first time it worked fine, but since then it stopped working. Plus, it’s really hard to contact them to ask for help.
Can’t Connect To Hero 5 Black 1/5
Have been using this app for a while with success, but ever since the last update I absolutely cannot download videos from my Hero 5 Black or connect in Preview mode. It says “Loading” and then I get a message saying the GoPro needs to be turned off and back on. No matter how many times I turn it off and back on, or remove the device and reconnect, I simply cannot get it to download my images and movies or connect with Preview mode. The app is completely useless without this functionality.

Recently, GoPro has been pushing out at least one notification per day urging you to get out and use your GoPro. I also have gotten notifications about new GoPros being released and asking me to buy them. My Notification Center is not a billboard GoPro. You buy a new GoPro to use the features that comes with it..... well the cloud never worked for me, so that flopped, of course we all want our videos on our phone now to upload to the internet so I bought the little micro USB to iPhone adapter... that just freezes all of my phone, iPad and iPad mini so...... that doesn’t work either..... focus more on the technology portion, so so so disappointed.......
