What an absolutely horrendous app!! I have been trying for days to watch Game of Thrones, Deadwood and multiple other shows and movies. The app either freezes just trying to load the home screen, freezes trying to load what I clicked to watch, loads but there is no sound, loads but there is no picture but there is sound or it just gives an error message and to try again later. Been trying for 3 days! I have deleted and reloaded the app multiple times and it doesn't help.
Sad that I have less issues with YouTube and that's free! HBONow is an EPIC fail!!

Why did I pay your subscription fee if I cant watch the one show I purchased a subscription for? Hard knocks has not worked since the day I subscribed. Thats very frustrating given how expensive this is. I cant wait 2-3 months for a fix.
Shows are good but too many connection errors. 1/5
This would be a fine app if it didn't get so many connection errors. Every single episode I watch a connection error comes up at least once, usually more. Usually it is so bad the app has to be force killed and restarted in order to continue watching the episode.
It is NOT a problem with my connection. Other streaming services and games operate fine without any connection errors.
I would suggest HBO hires someone that works at Netflix or Amazon Prime to figure out how to develop a streaming app that doesn't constantly crash.

I wanted to try this app out while on the go but it would never load so I decided to cancel my subscription. The next month it charged my card even though I canceled it now I have to wait 10 business days to get my money back.
Who's idea was it to make it so the audio continues without video. This alone ruined the app for me and much of the time I'd rather just go watch Netflix.

HBO's content is great and that's why I pay for it. HBO Now stinks. The streaming is awful. Do you like mismatched and uncoordinated audio and video? No? Me neither. How about skittering, skipping, freezing, jerky video? Yeah, it blows, doesn't it? It makes for an infuriating viewing experience. Not exactly what I'm looking for when I want entertainment.

I've been using the months for 2 months now and it has a few minor issues that all have to do with the organization and convince of the app. One of them is that if if you do not finish whatever you're watching---when you come back to the app, it will replay from the very beginning. However, sometimes this was NOT a problem. It just simply continued where I left off. Another issue is that it does not have a "Continue Watching" or "Watch History", so I had to search for what I was watching every single time I closed the app. I did experience some connection problems, or what I thought to be connection problems such as my entertainment being very rudely interrupted by a blank screen with the audio still available in the background or freezing up. Also, it sometimes took a long time for my entertainment to load. I found that I had a much more pleasant and/or near-perfect experience when connected to high speed internet. Other than this I had no other problems. Even these never frustrated once. I simply reloaded the app or fast-forwarded through what I was watching to find where I left off.
Apple TV app doesn't function well 2/5
I provided feedback a few weeks ago that it was frustrating, on my 4th Gen ATV that you had to play all the way through to get back to the beginning. I guess a recent update fixed it, but now you cant play from where you left off. Also, since the update, there frequent audio/video sync issues.

Regardless of whether I use my cellular data or my google fiber wireless internet, on iPhone or Apple TV, the HBO Now app crashes before playing any video. This is a waste of $15 per month. Fix the problem.

Since streaming HBO I've been impressed by how reliable the app has been (especially compared to Showtimec which constantly freezes and logs you out). Occasional dropouts in sound, but I don't blame HBO for that. However I do wish they provided a live stream option. If Showtime can do it, so can HBO.

This app needs a lot of work. I read the reviews and had hoped I would have a different experience, but everyone is right. Chief complaint, the app doesn't load and if it does it shuts down immediately. On top of that and if by miracle you got it to load the app pauses during a show almost every 10 seconds...quite painful to sit through. I am so very disappointed and I will be cancelling my subscription at the end of the month.

I can't comment about HBO now on my computer or my phone because I haven't used it there yet.. i did however download the app on my Apple TV (2nd gen) & no problem at all. Works great!!
I'm surprised that people have the patience to sit there and watch him HBO show on a computer or a phone
& I wonder if these people ever took into consideration that it may not be HBO now at all but rather the Internet access???

Doesn't start where you left off. 1/5
This app irritates me to no end. If I have to stop a show midway through and close my phone, it won't show up in the "resume episode" bar on top. Instead, it will show an episode I finished three weeks ago. I now have to remember the episode name and write down the minute mark just to finish it. Highly flawed.

My app crashes so much. It always take numerous tries to get through an entire episode or movie, let alone it not restarting where I left off. Also, a function to download episodes within the app would help a lot because you're hopeless if your wifi or data connection gets slow in the slightest. The audacity to charge $15 a month to subscribe with this app.

This ap is very annoying. Won't let me watch a show in real time. When I try to log on online it's as if I don't have an account AND I even clicked "forgot password" even though I didn't & never get an email to reset. Stupid stupid stupid. The STARZ ap works way better.

Amazing that a company with HBO's reputation could release and defend an app as convoluted, illogical, unreliable, and difficult to use as this is. It was so difficult to renew my membership after the first cancelation (should have known better) it's almost like they don't WANT paying customers.

I can't believe HBO made an app that made me actually hate the media provider as a company. Wow. Payment option wouldn't work. I retreat. I could get HBO to set up how I'd pay them. Furthermore, my "one month" trial mysteriously ended in one minute. Wow.

I love the idea of the app but it is way too glitchy for the amount that is paid to use it. The menu settings are not very efficient & it seems like EVERY week, my husband & i look forward to watching Game of Thrones & it continually buffers &

I don't have a TV and don't have an iPad. So my only option for this app is my phone? When I go to the website it just tells me to download the app... which is only for Ipad or phone not my MacBook. Really?

For those of us rural customers who refuse to buy overpriced satellite service, streaming services such as HBONow are liberating. When they work. NO rural customer will have the HBO recommended minimum download speed of 3mps. The app itself crashes frequently, whether that's due to low connectivity, poor app development, or high traffic, it's inexcusable today. HBO has had plenty of time to bring its service up to the streaming capabilities of Netflix and Amazon. With more rural Customers accessing the Internet via 3G cell and low-def DSL, I'd expect a better more flexible system for my $15/month. Btw, it works much better on low-demand days (non GoT nights), and I do not expect HD.

HBO Now is a paid streaming subscription and the fact that you can't get through a single episode of anything without the video freezing and have to close the app, restart then sometimes just starts the episode from the beginning is incredulous. Why does YouTube, Netflix or even the lowly Crackle have no issues like this? Not going to stick around much longer paying for this annoyance

I expected a lot more from HBO.
App is glitchy, often quitting when moving around the UI. Buffering often, when all my other apps like Hulu, Netflix work smoothly, and I have a very fast connection.
Finally, why are shows delayed? Real time, John Oliver etc are delayed hours. Why? Just today, Saturday 8/19 Real Time episode from last night still isn't available, and what shows in the app is an incomplete version starting halfway through.
Very poor, and damaging to HBO's reputation.

It is a fail on nearly every level. It has trouble loading content to display. Even when I use search to avoid it having to download a ton of images, it can't be bothered to display the specific show correctly. Netflix has no issues on my connection, why does HBO Now? I will be cancelling before the free-trail is ended since it looks like this is a long-standing failure.

Clunky and unreliable 1/5
This app is unreliable and inconsistent. Troubleshooting within the app or online is not helpful and does not solve any problems. I am able to stream easily using Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon on the same devices (iOS, Apple TV, and online) and wifi/data. As the most expensive streaming service, I would expect the quality to be better than it is. Very disappointing.

Make sure you binge the show you want in one month and dont pay a penny more (looking at you GoT fans) because this app is awful. I have it on the iPhone and the Xbox and it is a pain in the rear to start any show. A Service Error shows up sporadically throughout a movie or episode and sometimes doesn't load at all. To have to uninstall the app or turn off your device MORE OFTEN THAN NOT to make it work is absolutely ridiculous. Why does Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, ect always work for half the price and HBO can't even stream their service right?

Downloaded app to watch GOT and it runs nearly flawless. Very rarely would it lag for about 2 - 3 seconds, but I don't mind, because I'm paying a fraction of the cost for cable.
EXPENSIVE & TERRIBLE 1/5
This app needs a complete overhaul all. It is by far the most frustrating app I've ever used to for streaming & it's also the most expensive! When I use my Amazon fire stick TV remote on my iPhone I cannot navigate out of the app or it will shut off on my TV. I stream lots of video apps this way and I have never encountered this problem. It's extremely frustrating. Another issue I have is that it will just exit out of a show that I am watching for no rhyme or reason. FIX YOUR APP

Laggings and bad design 1/5
The content may be in high resolution, but it means nothing if the videos buffers all the time. In worst case, it buffers every 30 seconds, through a 150mbps internet. literally unwatchable!
UX design is even worse. No history watch, every time i have to search the series, find the right seasons and scroll down to click the right episode. Btw, the website is even worse, you navigate all over the place and can't find the episode list, ridiculous.
Developers, put more work on both frontend and backend, or your app will die after game of thrones ends.

I am still on my free trial and it's not even worth being free. I couldn't imagine paying $15 for an app that hardly works. I can't watch a show for more than 2 minutes with out the picture freezing. The audio keeps playing but the picture never starts playing again. I have to close the app and restart it only for it to do it over and over again.
I've been reading all these other comments about buffering and glitches, but luckily I haven't seen any or experienced them at all. At least for me, this is a great app.

I mean come on, learn the basics of user interaction. Video playback cuts back to the menu if you accidentally touch with 2 fingers????? And playback starts over all the time because you don't know how to program basic cache? Job opening at HBO

App works for me, a lot of people have been complaining about load times and the app not playing videos correctly. I have yet to encounter anything or the sort! Loading times are low and videos are snappy and crisp to play! No better place to watch HBO content!
