One of the worst streaming apps out there 1/5
Even with 4 full bars of connectivity, this app’s interface is very clunky at best.
HBO itself makes great series and has some of the best movies, but their app is incredibly difficult to use.
No Trial Month as advertised, BEWARE! 1/5
I was charged from day one there was no trial month! I notice HBO support never chimes in to correct this problem for anyone. I would have kept them after the month if it actually worked properly, now I will file a complain but also cancel. The 1 time $14.99 will be all they steal from me.

This review is more about the need for support of the iPhone X than it is about the app. I have no issues running the app on either my iPhone X or Apple TV however, it is annoying that after the iPhone X has been out for over a month, the app still doesn’t have full support for the phone. Watching video on the great screen of the iPhone X is annoying because the video is smaller than even an iPhone 8! How is it that Netflix, Hulu and YouTube all released updates on day one and this premium content provider has yet to do so a month later (not to mention this is the most expensive of the monthly subscriptions) This app could’ve gotten a 5 star review if they had supported the iPhone X in a decent amount of time.

Allow me to add my voice to the chorus of frustrated users who have been screwed over by this app. First of all apple just charged me out of blue to renew my subscription even though I cancelled it months before. Then I got absolutely no help from Apple and they were happy to keep my money when I tired to rectify the situation.
Finally I decided I would just keep the stupid subscription for a month. But lo and behold, every time I try to log in, no matter what device I'm on, it gives me the same stupid message about how I need to renew my membership. Sometimes after fighting with it for 10 minutes it finally lets me log in and watch. Most of the time I give up and go watch Netflix. This app is garbage
Update: when I get around the log in issues, programs simply won't load if I'm using Safari, and on Firefox it constantly skips and jumps around. Extremely frustrating. Luckily my subscription expires in a few days and I won't have to deal with this garbage anymore. That is, unless Apple decides to just automatically renew it charge me out of the blue after I cancel it

I’ve been using this app on my Apple TV 4K, and it works great! However, since amazon prime and Netflix both have 4K content, I am suspending my HBO Now account cause there is no 4K support on this app. Hey HBO, it’s about to be 2018, and this is America damnit!! And for those reasons I deduct 2 stars from an otherwise perfect score. We need our 4K 🤤🤤🤤
This could quite be the worst tv streaming app ever. Never remembers where you left off- not even the same episode. If the game of thrones series wasn’t so amazing I would delete this piece of crap. Netflix should buy HBO.

For HBO, they need to get it together and fix all the bugs. If it weren't for a GOT binge out of home, I wouldn't renew. It constantly shuts off, never remembers where you were, could have 4 bars and it only plays audio. That's just the start. Find a coder and fix it!

Not really sure what happened but I’ve used hbo now for over a year and went to watch something and it acted like I needed to resubscribe and my payment had already gone through. I did all of the code that Apple TV keep putting up for me to go to hbonow.com and nothing worked so I’ve cancelled it and will have three weeks on this app that won’t be used bc it’s no longer working for me! Never updated as frequently as it should be to take advantages of new iOS features. iPhone X full screen isn’t supported, also no support for choice of video quality over cellular.

Crashes at least once a day and then you can’t stream anything else. Not even reinstalling solved the problem.
Avoid this app in your ipad.
I’ve been having issues of movies jumping. The just now I was watching Master and Commander, had to turn off the breaking up of movie scenes got annoying. Going to cancel this one and go back to my Amazon account.

This is not a good streaming app compared to Netflix or amazon.
My biggest issues:
- no synchronisation among devices
- when reception is not great, switches to audio only while Netflix app still works
I've been paying for hbo now for several months now. It constantly skips/stops when trying to watch anything. Will be canceling soon.
Not optimized for iPhone X 2/5
I love HBO’s content, but I am very disappointed that they have yet to update their app for iPhone X. I was so excited to watch my favorite shows on my gorgeous new display on my new phone, but HBO has huge letter boxing on the sides that is so frustrating that it makes it unwatchable for me. Netflix was optimized at the launch of the phone, so I have given them all of my attention. Please update the app for full screen on the iPhone X!!

The reason I give this 1 star is because this app needs improvement. In opinion, (not everybody thinks this) I believe that Netflix is superior to this application. Netflix doesn’t have free trials, but Netflix is more reliable. But thank you for your service and good try.

Apart from not honoring the 30 days free trial which, is false advertising, this App is pathetic.
You may not search by Actor.
The Watchlist does not transfer between Devices using the same Login.
The price is a complete Gauge! $15 a month for old movies and Series! Apple / iTunes seems not to care as long s they have their Money.
Please be sure you receive the 30 day free trial.
Never works. Videos do not consistently load on iPad or iPhone. Works okay on Apple TV. Headed back to Showtime where things actually work for my money. HBO fail.

The app has crappy navigation on iPhone and Apple TV. No way to “like” or favorite a show or make list of shows you follow it’s hard to find new things to watch and continue shows you already started needs a lot of work before it can be called a top app like Netflix and others. Also no way to make separate profiles for family members so watched status is hard to follow if more than one person watches the same show in a household. Please make this app better!!!! You have great content but it’s useless if it takes a college degree to learn how to navigate.

I saw this app and thought what the heck I'll give it a shot since its free for one month. If I don't like it I'll cancel before the month is up. Then I get my receipt from my iTunes account saying I've been charged for $14.99. I'm so mad they say the offer a free month yet charged my account. If I would have known I would have been charged I would have never got it. I went on showtime and they gave me my free trial without charging my account at all. So disappointed :(

Please update to iPhone X screen size. Also eliminate the white bar at the bottom which is used to switch apps. It’s always “on” which is very distracting.
Would also love to download vids for offline viewing like one can with Netflix, Amazon Video, Vudu etc.

Their customer service is the best part of the “glitchy” app. After a long time I was able to activate and finally use. I wish it worked better! The content is world class but the app freezes up all the time. I doubt I will be keeping it after the trial. Seriously bummed

Decided to try this app out and stream with my cromecast but I keep getting “this media is temporarily unavailable...” and try again in a few moments UMM NO it just never works... not worth the trouble even with the “free trial”

I enjoy the app and the content it offers, but it could really use a profile system similar to Netflix; it’s a hassle having multiple people watching the same show in different places and having to memorize your spot in the show.

I subscribe through iTunes and I have never been able to use my iPhone app. Every time I attempt to log in I get an error -1000 and it won’t give me an option to reset my password. I can only use the Apple TV app.
