I have an active membership and have been paying for my two kids to use the app for months. Just recently, my daughter's Version on her iPad will not start without asking me to create a whole new account. I have tried quitting and reinstalling the app, but it never recognizes my login. I have contacted customer support, and still have not heard anything from anyone in three days. It kills me that I am paying by the month to access this app, and I'm not being allowed to use it. IT'S A RIPOFF!
  • Would recommend but freezes a lot 3/5

    By Jamiec104
I originally loved this app. My son enjoyed it and I liked that it was t repetitive. But recently he can barely play it since it freezes or won’t load at all. So now I am going to cancel my subscription but love the app when it works.
  • Dislike Pathways SO Much 1/5

    By theriotstarterisonfire
Long time Homer user (almost 3 years, 2 kids). The new pathways are terrible. The Learn-To-Read was much better. Not worth the $75 a year. Still crashes a lot too. Cons of Pathways: - no autonomy on lessons - profiles aren’t phonetic/letter identification focused (ex: my youngest only gets stories read to him and gives him color choosing games - no letter combo mastery to start reading) - not goal oriented - no “mastered” letters or vowels (or mastered letter combos such as “pat”) -no clear learn to read area means my kids may have to search through the games to find letter tracing or letter identification - app becomes overall less reading-oriented due to above Before with Learn-To-Read: - easy consonant/vowel learning combos (ex: P, T, A, becomes early reading of tap/pat) - can go back to completed sections for review if needed - clear “end” after 26 lesson trees - had distinct areas for letter learning vs education games (such as color identification, etc) Just very disappointed. Loved and used to recommend this app to many parents. Now want my money back. Do not recommend unless they change the app back to previous structure which actually used to help my kids learn to read.
  • Great App 4/5

    By Csay01
Pros: my son is highly motivated to learn to read and this app is awesome to help get him over the hurdle. It has several skills and he loves using it! I MUCH prefer his screen time spent this way to watching YouTube or cartoons! Cons: I had a few issues with getting the app to work. Tech support was extremely responsive even over the Christmas/New Year’s holiday and stuck it out with me until we got it going!
  • Love it! 5/5

    By JPeeps22
Great learning tool for my three year old. I can't believe how much she is learning. What a thoughtful app that personalizes a wonderful experience that motivates her to keep going. She loves learning. We love Homer!
  • Pretty good would recommend 3/5

    By Griffgriff27
I’ve only used the free trial so far. Good: It is great supplement for teaching your child along with other learning lessons you teach them do not use this solely alone. It does teach a lot in one app and seems it lives up to its advertisement. My son really enjoys it. I like the engagement of getting to respond to what you’ve learned as well as questions at the end of the lessons. Love the idea of a “pathway” that is personalized for each child to what their likes are although I couldn't pick all of the likes in the beginning had only a certain amount but overall it is a very smart app and my son seems to really like it, he asks to play it and is learning some from it so I think I will buy maybe a month to month and see how it goes from there. Not so good: It does freeze up sometimes and when my son went back to record his voice of what he wanted to say again about the lesson it wouldn’t allow him to so you have to only do it when you compete it and are still on that page, doesn’t seem you can go back and record. I don’t like that the stories don’t exactly match or complaint the lesson taught and overall just wish there was more to it. Also, it seems to specialize in reading but for the price I would like it to also be all basic subjects. Overall: Pretty good, is simple learning. Has engaging, fun characters that seem to make the pathway exciting but wish there was more to it (subjects). :)
  • More accessibility PLS! 4/5

    By MMenard0313
I love the app for my 1 yr old and 3 yr old but they have Amazon Fire's and I couldn't get it on there. It would also make it amazing if we could send the books and stuff to our Chromecast to cast it on the TV. It would make it closer to it's worth per month. I'm still in the trial and going to make a decision whether I keep it but I wouldn't have to if those things were available.
  • Great program! 5/5

    By sbaker056
I’ve been using Homer with my 4 year old for about 3 months now, and I can really see her improvement! We do at least 3 lessons on her path a day, then I let her explore all the other categories. I especially like that it’s quality screen time, and not just something to keep her preoccupied.
  • Fun and Educational 5/5

    By MaryMT123
I can see the excitement the kids have on their faces while on Homer. It is helping them gain confidence in their reading, all while having fun too!

My daughter is already enjoying the Winter Reading Challenge! I love knowing she will continue learning, enjoying stories, and discovering during school vacation! Homer makes us both happy!

  • They sold my email address to a political campaign. 1/5

I registered with a special email that allowed me to track where it would end up. Well it ended up in the hands of a political campaign. Please beware.
  • Doesn’t Work 1/5

    By RobertsLA
I love the idea of this, but the app isn’t working. I signed up for the free trial subscription and my son’s first path is matching - there are only 3 cards showing up and there aren’t matches available but it keeps telling him to flip another card to find the match. Very frustrating. Will need to cancel the trial until it’s fixed.
  • Not Enough to Do! My 5 year old finished in one week :( 3/5

    By Megnamerc
I love this app, but my daughter played for a week and finished it. It said she needed a new level and there were none. This is very disappointing. They say it’s for 4-8 but clearly that isn’t true. I wanted this to take her to the next level and would have subscribed but it does not have that capacity.
  • Can’t get out of annual renewal 1/5

    By maryakct
I used this app with a student I tutored and paid a yearly subscription. I was charged for the next year, didn’t notice it, and never used it. I was charged for the following year and disputed it. It took several emails over several weeks of time but I think I finally got a refund. I told them I was not going to be using it again. This year, I was charged for a yearly subscription again. NOT a happy customer.
  • Great content with some big flaws 3/5

    By Pentoozi
We had been subscribers to Homer for a few years. In the beginning we really loved it. Our kids were about 4 and 2 years old. Our daughter used Homer all the time and I do think it helped her reading skills. Both my kids were upset with the big update to the Wickles when they lost the carousel at the intro screen - I tend to agree. The carousel was lovely and easy. The Wickles are slow and the screen is crowded. We continued on. Our son started using it often too and we were so very excited with the postcards. We were supposed to be able to log in in our own account and even have family members send postcards to our children. We could do it (sometimes) but our family members couldn’t and it had so many bugs. My son still made hundreds of postcards that just got sent to “Homer”. Our biggest issue however, and the reason we stopped subscribing, was the user account issue. We had an account for our daughter and one for our son, and we should be able to create them- NOT the children. They were able to create extra accounts and use their sibling’s account and therefore tracking their progress and data was becoming very problematic. We contacted support several times but this issue was never resolved. I was very sad because I REALLY think the content is amazing. The folk songs and illustrations are really gorgeous. The stories and history lessons amazing. The games are creative and the reading programs are well-done. And my kids loved getting their Saturday Surprise. Because we stopped paying we lost ALL of our children’s data (all those amazing postcards, drawings and voice recordings) from their four years of use. Pretty disappointing :-(
  • Kindergarteners expected to read 5/5

    By AsianSoul2468
Tried it because kindergarteners are expected to read. BEST PURCHASE EVER! Games and stories are short and keep interest. Content changes as my daughter continues along her pathway. She's already starting to recognize letters, even trying to name them. She saw a capital F and called it an E, but that's an amazing start! She loves making silly letter creatures and fairy stories with stickers. She can record her voice at the end of some of the stories, and the really great thing about that is that I can access all of her sticker pictures, voice recordings and such. Speaking of stories, there is a wide variety, including informational text, fantasy, science fiction, etc. and she gets to choose between three different stories each time. For as cheap as it is every month and how much my daughter is learning, this is the best purchase I've ever made!

  • My son’s favorite!! 5/5

    By techiedad16
I recently downloaded homer and i can see how much my son loves it every time he opens up the app. Not only are the videos fun but then there’s some awesome lessons that really go in depth in teaching him to read and pronounce letters properly. I recommend it for any parent!

My daughter can't get enough - she loves using "the pathway" and dressing up the wickles. The app does a great job of bing educational but still fun and engaging.

I love this phonics program for all 3 of my children. They are ages 7,5, and 3 and there is something for each of them and they enjoy learning!
  • Love the pathways! 5/5

    By Gina makes cake pops
We started Homer a few months ago and my son started learning his letters on his pathway. He absolutely loves Homer. There were some buggies but we reached out to their support team and their entire team was helpful in helping us troubleshoot. We're thrilled that they've fixed all the bugs that we saw in the latest version of the app!
  • So glad to be a grandma 5/5

    By Linda-Nina
This tool is a great supplement to school and is especially helpful as I watch the kids. It's something they actually want to do and I see them loving to read. The “Family” power word is our favorite—and we are loving the new Gratitude story. We have incorporated it into our nap time routine. We spend 15 min on Homer together, read two books, and then bed. Great variety of content for the grandkids-- even I learn something.
  • $79.99 without notice 1/5

    By Tolleyo
I signed my granddaughter up for this as a trial / she did not show much interest at all so I tried to cancel - but instead of cancelling it enrolled her for a full year! No easy way to contact them - no phone numbers and I could not locate an email address. Very unhappy - next time I will look for instructions on how to cancel before signing up.
  • Terrific learning app! 5/5

    By The Green Frog 50
The kids love the characters and I love the learning. I can really see a difference in their reading. Thank you Homer.
  • Amazing product to learn to learn and read 5/5

    By Parenttown
My kids love the product and I really love using the product with my kids. We can see the benefits from day 1. The pathway is a great thing that teaches and entertains. They love the recording of there voices and the personalization is amazing because it finds great things to keep my child’s attention to learning. They want to learn not watch pointless YouTube videos
  • Love the app but 4/5

We ran out of pathways and there won't be another available until November 22nd. Why so long? Any way to get it faster?
  • Freezes 1/5

    By StellaBella5412
Signed up for the free trial for my daughters (5 & 2) and was excited to have something they could both use that was differentiated. My 5 yr old played for 10 minutes and was enjoying until the game on her pathway froze. We closed out and tried again and still nothing. She can’t go any further on her pathway now, so is bummed. Very disappointing.

How much does it cost after the free trial ?
  • Nice 5/5

    By akarabat
The app is really easy to use. I like that there are different profiles for different kids. The painting game is really fun. So far it’s worth the subscription fee.
  • Too much going on 2/5

    By AdamKaye
I have a masters degree and felt it was too difficult to use/too much going on, and gave up before even showing it to my 4 yr old. How is a kid supposed to use this independently if it’s not intuitive how to get started and there are too many choices?
  • Nephews Love It! 5/5

    By UncleMike85
All my little nephews love this! Best is that they’re learning while having fun! Win win!
  • Started ok 1/5

    By sadpareny
Started ok. Constantly needed updates. Takes forever to recognize touch on iPad or iPhone. Took my kids both 2years apart to the same place to start. I don't think it was individualized at all. Gave them the same stories. Gave them the same activities. Not impressed.
  • They can’t get enough! 5/5

    By CG_will_rock_your_face
Brought Homer along to share with my friend’s little guy and, he was instantly hooked! For me, it was a fun way to bond with him. For him, it was all ‘learning through play.’
  • Great app 5/5

    By Grandmom K
So many interesting topics. It has kept my granddaughter engaged , who usually gets bored fast. I have tried other learning apps and this one is by far the best one. The children are able to use this app with little assistance.
  • So far very unhappy 1/5

    By ChandlerHeel
This seems like a nice idea but it moves so slow thru different steps. My 5 year old wants to advance faster. PLUS - it is so buggy. You go to run the next module along the pathway and nothing happens. I need to check my Apple billing. I hope it hasn’t billed it. I was planning on the trial period to see if I like it for daughter. So far, it’s a crummy experience.
  • So Engaging! 5/5

    By madison.peele
I would definitely recommend this app! My daughter is highly engaged and learning a lot! It is an amazing resource. As a teacher, I find this app highly valuable!
  • Simply amazing 5/5

    By Crosalva
My son loves this game by far it's better than abc mouse way more educational I believe wish I knew about this app way earlier.
  • We had nothing but problems with this app on my sons iPad 1/5

    By JLSD4
In the beginning it was great and my son loved it. This app would constantly need to be updated it would not work and when I contacted customer support all they would say was that I needed to reset my device. Why would I need to reset my device constantly in order for their app to work. I think they need some updates. Also when I signed up for a trial it automatically charged me the full price for the app and I did not give me a trial. It would also lose all of my sons saved progress and data and he would have to restart from the beginning. It was frustrating for a six-year-old because it wouldn't save his progress and that's ridiculous.
  • Fun and educational 5/5

    By kellbell460
The step-by-step learn to read program is really effective
