I sought out to write this review, I wasn't asked or solicited in any way (just for the record). I have made many reservations over the years n always book with Hotels.com but recently I booked a reservation thru Booking.com because of a popup add i saw so i went to Ebates which i try and always use n booked a hotel thru Booking.com. I had previously made multiple reservations as well on Hotels.com for the same vacation time and since i didnt know when exactly i was going, i made many to cover my basis. When we finalized the time n hotel amenities that we wanted i cancelled all the ones I didn't need with Hotels and the single one with Booking. So to wrap this up Hotels immediately (within 48hrs) refunds the monies but im still waiting now going into 3 weeks with Booking. Also having to show proof with Booking even after calling twice to Booking and them calling the hotel that we had reservations thru. Very poop service and I've deleted my app n will never do business with them again. These days customer service isn't what it used to be but it is with Hotels.com. Ty Hotels.com!!!

Love the Hotels.com service, but am frustrated that after so many years as a member, your app is still so buggy and dysfunctional. I just downloaded the most recent update this morning only have it close everytime I try to get it to open the messages that it tells me that I have waiting for me. Come on guys? This is small potatoes but unforgivable at this point in your life cycle...Gotta get the small stuff right to be world class.
Can't sign in, can't create an account 1/5
Thought I had a Hotels.com account but could not login. Understand that, so decided to create an account. When you go to create an account and click sign in, it defaults to can't sign in. Close the app open the app try again. No success. No wonder I never had at hotels.com account!

DECEPTIVE! DON'T TRUST THEM! 1/5
The app is designed to choose one of two options when booking a room, either "Pay Now" or "Pay Later".
I had 4 different reservations to make, all scheduled for August 2017. I wanted to "Pay later", when I checked in to each hotel.
Within minutes, the money was taken from my credit card. MINUTES!!! How is that a definition for paying later????
When I called customer support, they told me the purchases were non-refundable. She asked me if I received my email confirmations, and if I saw where in that confirmation it said non-refundable. I tried explaining that this information should have been communicated BEFORE final submission on the App and she HUNG UP ON ME!!!
In the end, this cost me over $400!
DON'T TRUST THIS APP!!!! DECEPTIVE. THEY DON'T EXPLAIN THEIR PAYMENT POLICIES BEFORE ORDER CONFIRMATION.

Hotels.com is a great way to search for and book hotels. I think it's pretty much my go to service for accommodations. They usually have the best prices and it's easy to browse and compare different locations. However this review is strictly for the app which is totally broken. I can't go five minutes without it crashing. Book on your computer instead.

Hotels.com is the worst...only giving 1 star because you have to rate w/ at least a 1...
When you do find a cheaper hotel on other websites/apps they tell you "they are unable to find" what you are seeing. The cheapest price typically doesn't count towards reward night, so you pay $10 plus to get your 'free' night. They advertise that if you book through their app that you will get a discount, but that tiny discount then bumps you out of being able to redeem towards a future night. The customer service is horrible! Even if you ask to speak to a manager or someone else, they either 'lose' the call or the higher up is rude & does nothing to satisfy you! Don't waste your time, find hotel & book directly through them, they typically give you the price match or even better plus they will apply unlimited discounts!

I'm a long time customer of hotels and I like the company but their app needs a lot of work. It's very glitchy. I do not understand why an online company cannot figure out how to make an app that works consistently. I'm using the newest version of both the app and iOS.

They don't even know the hotel check in information and I have already booked the hotel but the hotel won't let me check in... after talking with them online for hrs they didn't help me out or give me any discount!!! worst service ever!!!

My saved searches online doesn't pull up in the app.
Hotels.com are the worst. They screw up reservations and when you call (yes you have to call, because their online chat feature doesn't work) they tell you, sorry, it's our mistake but there's nothing we can do. In my case that cost me several hundred dollars extra and the problem wasn't even fixed. I tried calling, online chat, Facebook, even Twitter. I've never known a company that handles things this badly after they've acknowledged that the booking problem were their fault.
Love this app. Everytime I stay in NYC and I want to book a hotel, Hotels.com is where I go!

BEWARE of hotels.com
Customer agents. We contacted an agent for a recommendation and then booked on the website to be sure we were able to get train tickets first and asked to be near the city center and when we checked the day of we were guided to hotel which is almost an hour away😂. When talking to the supervisor ROXY she said the issue would be resolved in 72 hours when our vacation was over ....TERRIBLE Customer service. We are advising all our family and friends of their service😂😂😂. You can not trust their agents advice ! Also your past hotels get erased just before you are eligible for your free night. It showed 7 stays then when I booked they were gone. Another 'free loyalty program' they fail to stand behind 😂

I travel a lot! Ive used many of the online hotel companies to book rooms and have had little to no problems and any problem I've had with hotels booked with other companies so far has been taken care of and they treated me with respect. This company is a nightmare to deal with and to put it gently their customer service is a joke! I booked a hotel through the app which showed pictures of a hotel which was obviously not the hotel I ended up with. When I called customer service and refused to stay in the bug infested, dirty room, with no air conditioning that was provided they refused to give me a refund for the full amount and instead tried to offer me a voucher for around 1/3 the amount I paid...as if I would ever use Hotels.com ever again after the way I was talked to and treated. Then when I refused to settle for their ridiculous offer I was transferred to a supervisor who treated me like garbage and talked to me like he didn't care said, "If you have nothing else to say but you want a refund I'm hanging up cause I'm not giving you one!" and then hung up lol! This company does not know how to treat its customers, so if you don't want to have to deal with a company that doesn't care one bit about you and have your trip ruined then DO NOT book with Hotels.com! App or otherwise! Should be 0 Stars!

So the zoom out issue is the one where when you look for a hotel and click into a property either by choice or (more than likely) by accident on the map and exit the property details it zooms the map out. At least it leaves that pin in blue - a different color to make it somewhat easier to find it again.
As a seasoned traveler location is everything. If I am focused on an area or neighborhood I want to be in that neighborhood period. I don't need the map to zoom out to show me hotels clear across town. In some cities it zooms out so far as to include hotels in other cities and even states.
I get that maybe this app is made for amateur tourists. Maybe they need to see that they 500+ options all over the region. Maybe they stay clear across town to save a few bucks. The most valuable and frequent travelers don't have time for that. Really spending 30-60 minutes to get to why you came to a city in the first place isn't for me.
Just set up a pro mode at least where this nonsense does not happen.
Next the new problem. I really need to bite my lip very hard to not completely insult the developers of this app.
If you put in your destination and your dates having looked those up and if you accidentally miss the "search" button and touch above it - IT WILL CANCEL OUT ALL YOUR DATA AND RETURN YOU TO THE HOME SCREEN. ALL YOUR WORK GONE.
TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY IT WONT EVEN BE IN YOUR RECENTLY SEARCHED LIST. Which is way too short.
It isn't a lot of work but wow it is a hassle. If you make multiple reservations for multiple dates at once this nonsense will ruin your workflow.
The people who design this app might need to see a neurologist to fix whatever is wrong with them. Certainly something isn't working upstairs.
But seriously as a heavy user and hundreds of nights booked I would volunteer to show them how I use the app to make my regular bookings. The app completely misses the mark for frequent travelers.

I will never use this app again to book reservations. Very poor service . I spoke to a number of representatives after an error on their end and I continuously got hung up on . None of their representatives have very genuine customer service . They caused a ridiculous amount of issues .
