I love the page transition and easy access menus. I does spaz our from time to time on the iPad Pro when you try to set a book mark. Might want to think about adding a menus option for that in the next release/update. Other than that I love the page options also I am adverse to light and some readers don’t have an automatic setting for night-time. Well done Rakuten.

I so enjoy this app! My only "thing?" It tends to go back to my iPad home screen quite often. I have to shut down iPad and start again. Annoying, I I do like the app! Thankful it doesn't do this more than a couple of times a week!

1. Make the book icons smaller and spread over the entire page, so one could see more books at a glance: say 20 or more
2. The box that open when you want to assign a collection name is too small or limited. Make that box show two or three columns to make the reader’s choice.
Otherwise Kobo is best app on the market.

So I have to admit that I was a little scared off by the low rating (three-star rating is pretty harsh) but figured hell, it’s free - why not give it a shot.
Well, it works awesome! Logged in quickly and easily, all of my Kobo books were there - good to go! The instructions on how to flip pages in it was a little overboard bc every other reader out there works exactly the same way, so...duh? But I’m also a Millennial who grew up with this stuff, so I’m not going to be thrown off by simple technology, whereas maybe someone else would be. *shrug*
Anyway, loved it - glad I downloaded it and gave it a shot! Kobo is an awesome store that treats its authors right, so I’m happy to support them however I can.
Very Confusing 1/5
I'm trying to search for audiobooks and it keeps pulling up ebooks. I also cannot sign in. Stick with a service that focuses on audiobooks. This app is a confusing mess.
I had just purchased the ebook TBoz A Sick Life for $16.19. It told me to refresh the app, which didn’t help and saw it pending in my checking account and contacted the customer service representative by chat. She told me she only see one book and asked me if I had the receipt. The page was already gone and didn’t receive an email confirming the purchase yet. As soon as this transaction goes through, I will dispute it with my bank.

If you take the time to adjust to it , it took me 5 minutes, you will find some great features, I love being able to choose the font I like to read in as my eyes do a lot better with certain ones . Plus I love the ability to make the type any size :) as far as concerns about turning pages it is just a tap on the edge up down or right or left .
If it throws you it is probably because you are used to apple or Amazon, where you swipe - all you need here is a tap
The result of the last update? The program vanished from my phone. So, after changing all my books that I paid for, you now dumped my phone app as well. Thank you for saving me the effort to dump you. Don’t do business with thieves.
It's alright but I am struggling with actually making my account, it will only give me the option to sign into a a account! I also don't like how only a small amount of books are audio books. If you can make it so if you have an account all books will have an option to make it a audio book. If you can do that along with making it easier to actually make an account that would be AWESOME! 😁😁😁

I love the app! It works perfectly between my phone, my iPad, and my husband's phone and iPad. It's handy when I just want to pass time while waiting for an appointment or something or if I want to take the time and curl up on the couch! Love it!

I have the Kobo for MAC, Kobo for iPhone and Kobo for iPad. They all do what I expect of a reader app and do it well. I particularly enjoy the “finished” feature which eliminates the archive and collections feature of other readers. Well done Kobo.

Since trying the app I have not been able to unsubscribe to the many emails. I trod first in the mail app but the link went nowhere. So, I tried to unsubscribe through safari. It just reloads the page. This is the behavior of spam mail.

The bottom of the page used to allow you to view the books as series but some genius decided to replace that with audiobooks. I don't have any audiobooks so that's just causing me to take extra steps to get to series because it's on a different page! Leave things alone!

Since upgrading to the latest version, and installing the app on a new iPad, I've been unable to sign in with my Kobo account email. Selecting sign in with email produces an "Uh-oh" screen and no further response. I contacted Kobo support and received no reply.

Downloaded an audiobook, the only way to listen to it is through the app. Fine. Except I can't use the app because when I try to sign in, it just says uh oh! Something's wrong. Customer service was pretty shoddy too. Polite, but didn't help at all. Just said it's broken.

I signed up for an account online and bought an audio book, then downloaded this app to my iPhone. As others have said, I could not sign in to it to listen. I opened a customer service ticket on the website, hopefully they will get this issue fixed soon.
I have no problem signing in on my iPhone 7. I just hate how the pages turn. I can't explain it but they turn slow or there's a slight pause. It messes me up every single page to where I hade reading on this app. Only reason I am is because I have books on here from years ago. If I had a choice I would read them on my kindle app.

I am unable to log into my account using email. Every time I try, I am brought to a page that says "uh-oh" and gives an error message. This means I am unable to listen to audiobooks. :( Please fix this ASAP!

Can't read my books I paid for 1/5
Informed me about audio books, logged me out, and I haven't been able to login since. Emailed the address on the "Uh-Oh" page. Received an email back that it's no longer a working email. Chatted for 10 minutes with 24 hour care and received email instructions on different things to try. None have worked. I emailed the email I received and no word back in 48 hours.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled 3x and still can not login using my email address. This is an update? Sigh. I miss the old Reliable Kobo app. This app doesn't work with iPhone 7 - sign in with email.
Tapped "sign in with email," then was shown an "Uh oh" screen that told me to force quit the app and reopen to try and log in again. Did that, then saw the same screen again.
Pretty useless app considering I can't even read my ebooks… Now what?
I no longer love it because it does not work after It uploaded for audiobooks it will not allow me to sign and I have reinstalled it several times rebooted my iPad and nothing works I am very upset. I have talked with the service department and they have not been able to help. Right now I would give it -5 stars.

This app does not work at all on iPad or iPhone 6. It will not allow you to sign in. Customer support snippy and no help at all. After 20 minutes on the phone they disconnected me.
It was fine until the added audio books. I signed up for a free trial. Big mistake. Totally useless. Stick with Audible. More expensive but works.

I have been using this app for 5 years. I bought a cheap tablet which would not allow me to use google play. I was forced to use a foreign app store that did not have kindle. The alternative was Kobo. I felt like it was destiny. I immediately fell in love with Kobo. The app is almost seamless. Years later I wish I could get rid of kindle all together. However, kindle has books Kobo does not offer and vice versa. All around Kobo is the best e-reader to me. My critiques are the removal of the in-app purchase option and improving the sync between devices. Otherwise, I'm a avid Kobo fan for life ! 😎

Lots of great books to read, add to your apps to increase your library and variety. Many fonts and sizes, bright to dim, different ways to organize your books, even a marked as finished option.
One annoying bug is that the font size changes from chapter to chapter.

I have to say I wasn't happy at first to learn Sony was closing their E-reader store. Kobo made that ordeal so easy! All my books came with me, with no problems. I've been reading my books on my HTC phones ( EVO LTE & M1) & iPad. I will soon be buying a new E-reader. It will be a Kobo reader I just haven't made up my mind as to which one yet.

I really use to love this app, and in a lot of ways I still do. however not all Change is good. It's very inconvenient not to be able to buy books directly from the app. There are a lot of small changes that are making the app difficult, like who wants to download a book that you can't read the whole description for. Not I, fix what you've changed and leave the app alone pls.

I loved it! It wasn't something deep and heavy but, just a sweet romance! This wasn't a book that was banned for a certain age and it wasn't explicit! You pay attention to the characters as they were all special not, just the leads.Brody, the male lead was described as a tanned Greek God and Olivia had trouble deciding what she really wanted to do. She also, wasn't the most graceful but, wanted to make everybody happy! You meet their friends, their bosses and the Women at the Independent Women's Retreat! By the time you get to the end you're wishing you could join the party and mingle and have a mimosa.

Kobo app gives me access to many ebooks and very friendly interface to reading them as well, but frankly I hate the fact that I can't pay to read the books on the app unless I log on to the desk top, this alone would have cost this app a 2 star lower rating but I reduced it to just 1 star because of easy access to many exotic ebooks.
The developers should consider providing secure access to paying for the paid version of the ebooks.

Love the interface.
I do a lot of e-book reading and I use all of the major five readers. Of them all this is my least favorite. I am not just being mean, but as an avid reader I hope to give constructive input so as to hopefully improve my reading experience. The first thing that could improve is the synchronization between devices, this app is hit and miss in this area. Another feature I don't like is the inability to change the line spacing. The last thing that could be improved is the font sizing, it is a little cumbersome to use! I do use the app and most likely will continue to and look forward to improvements.
