Whom ever designed and more importantly approved the release of this app should be fired.
Its confusing i can't get to important travel functions like maps from the home page.
You use to be able to jump into your rental hit the app two taps later get directions going.
It's next to impossible to make a reservation. If you don't know the precise name of the property.
I'm going to Hilton until this gets put back-

This update is terrible. Mobile check-in barely works anymore. Often it tells me to check in and it doesn't show in the app. It's stressful when coming up on a new Marriott a night week of travel.
The app is over all too busy and confusing, logical placement is a thing of the past, giving way to what is (obviously) to be pleasing visually.
And why is there an consumer ad for the Marriott App in the actual app?

The "new" mobile app is not showing my reservations which were booked over 1 week ago but I am looking at my laptop and Marriott home page signed in and it's hoeing both?

It's great when you try to give an app a facelift, but it needs to work.
The cancel feature works only about 10% of the time. The interface is clunky. Tab browsing is so much easier.
I need it to work a bit better.

The app is useless without the data you need most - your upcoming reservations! Sometimes they're there, sometimes they're not - unreliable and unacceptable. I now have to call Marriott to confirm or use the mobile webpage (web still works reliably). Talking to a Marriott operator they are aware of the issue. Let's get this fixed ASAP!
Marriott app - Not ready for prime time (v6.1.1) 1/5
I have platinum elite status so basically I live at Marriott's.
The major features of this app are non-functional. I will get into the specifics in a moment but as a software development manager if I released the Marriott app to my customers I would most likely lose my job.
Let's look at this app against the previous release v5.14.0. An overall assessment shows this version is mostly advertising with its multiple background screens that allow for selling something. The crux of the software deficiency is this version does not show upcoming bookings even though a screen exists for it. Now without showing upcoming reservations made through a travel agent you cannot use the app to check in. You cannot use the app to check out. You cannot use the app to find the location of your hotel.
In addition you cannot see your lifetime Marriott points or lifetime status. All of which can be done with version 5.14.0 but not version 6.1.1.
As soon as Marriott drops support for 5.14 I'll need to bookmark the web version to get information.
I cannot understand the positive reviews.

Platinum member. The new version is terrible. Mobile check-in isn't as friendly, less details, and some info such as number of guests doesn't match reservation. The earlier versions were much better. It takes more time to make a reservation on the app now. Bring back the previous version.

The person who designed this is rich on style, poor on functionality. Looks great until you try to actually use it. Marriott is my go-to hotel brand. Unfortunately this app actually detours me from using it to book a hotel room.
Think about that... IT DETOURS ME FROM BOOKING A HOTEL ROOM!
This may be the first application that actually loses business for an established brand.

Harder than Fort Knox to open. Even using rewards number or email won't trigger any recognition. It has become a useless travel accessory on my phone and tablet. Use it for early check in? Haha, funny.
This is where IT has outsmarted the marketing department...make the app so totally secure that not even the customers can use it.
Makes me want to check out competing brands.

I am a Platinum Premier member and use the app often. Very easy to use and intuitive. No complaints.

I travel frequently for business. I have found the app to be extremely user friendly. I use it for 96% of my bookings. The ease of access and hotel selection makes it much more desirable than searching online.

The drawing enticed me to use the app to reserve a room instead of the browser. Great experience, I'll be using the app to reserve again in future
I noticed that you can now also access the mapping function to get directions to the properties which is great, that used to be problematic
