Good not great 3/5
I travel somewhat frequently for work and am a Marriott Platinum, so I use the app quite a bit. For a lot of things, I love it. Property search is easy, rewards/point detail for an app is great, etc.
However, some things lacking -
I wish there was some transparency for elite upgrades. Why not show a map of rooms and allow Platinums the ability to grab their own upgrades? Platinums can grab them the day before arrival and Golds can the day of...or something of that nature.
Also, why can I not view international hotels in a different currency? For example, I’m trying to book a hotel in Tokyo and I’d like to have my hotel reservations display in USD. I don’t want to swap back and forth between apps to have to figure out conversation rates. What is 40,000 JPY to USD? No idea. Room rates are useless to me when booking international.
I wish more hotels participated in the keyless feature, too. Even some of the properties that do don’t actually use it. Recently stayed at the STL airport Marriott, and my keyless entry never became “ready”.
Anyway, I like it, but certainly don’t love it.
Last update 1d ago broke watch app 2/5
The Apple Watch app no longer works after last update, will not open. Restarted watch & iPhone, reinstalled watch app - crashes immediately.
A year to fix then they broke it 1/5
I’ve watched this pattern for three years now, specifically related to the watch app. It takes a year for them to get it to work and then when it does they break it. This latest version trashed the watch app to the point where it won’t even load now. This could be a great tool but the tools developing it have made it so unreliable that there is no point. I’m removing it.
Can’t cancel reservations with this app anymore 1/5
This app is good for making reservations. However, if you book multiple rooms - it only lets you see the confirmation number for the main room - and won’t let you edit preferences, guest name, etc for the other rooms.
Lastly, it’s incredibly frustrating that you can no longer cancel a reservation using this app. You can try, but you get a message the reservation can not be canceled. This is regardless if the reservation is a month or weeks away. You are forced to call the hotel - which renders this app nearly useless to me now.
Electronic key works on my iPhone - will not work on Apple Watch. 48 hour check-in is useless - especially when you are currently staying at a hotel. Checking in for your upcoming stay removes the electronic key for your current stay. It is annoying when you are coming back to your room with your arms full and you don’t have a key in your pocket - and have to go all the way back down to the front desk to get one
Not working 1/5
By Big time lame.
The app has not allowed me to login for a week. Tells me there is some processing error. I have deleted and reinstalled. I have updated my password numerous times and still nothing works. I’ve used the mobile web site and also had intermittent trouble logging in.
Needs a make over 3/5
Buttons and menus are cryptic. This app needs better usability. Hard to find things. Main menu is a giant picture yet small buttons. Many things still require desktop app. SPG app is much better.
Lifetime nights not accurate, useless features 1/5
Had 1.2 million lifetime accumulated points a week ago with lifetime silver, and now my points dropped to 1.08 million points with out lifetime silver. What the?!?
Mobile check in is useless. I use it and still have to provide info at check in. So, why bother? For an upgrade I won’t get? We can’t select our room (like Hilton), or even see a map of the hotel (again, Hilton).
Keyless entry is non existent (Love that with SPG and Hilton).
Mobile chat/requests are rarely accomplished. Selecting green choice or even more towels usually says “completed” and when I inquire, no one knows what I’m talking about.
Keep up with the competition, Marriott. You’re losing people. These changes don’t require a complete overhaul.
Stupid setting 1/5
I don’t care if you screw up in mainland China with all the political stuff or what. But I am downloading this app in US App Store, just because my iPhone default language is set to Chinese, and you are not allow me to use the app? It works if I set my default language to English.
Can someone who develop this app have some common sense? Or the developer simply is too lazy?
WAS a great app. 3/5
Have used this app for years with no problem. Now I can’t access it at all. I have hotel reservations next week and can’t find the details. Will go with three stars for now—hoping problem gets fixed.
Needs a fix. 1/5
The points shown earned and lifetime are incorrect. Called Into Marriott Rewards and they confirmed my point total was off by over 100,000 points. They said they have received multiple calls in the issue. Time to put in a fix.
App needs to be fully functional 2/5
By Lord Gaminator
Only giving two stars because the app, and the level of customer service in Marriott hotels seems to be on the decline.
First, why is it that about every month or so I get logged out of my app, then have to log completely back in as a new person? Even the thumb print function is not functional as it should be. You cannot make a request through the app because either people aren't trained well, or it just doesn't work. But every month? It's hard enough to remember every single password that we have to use these days, with all the silly capitals and numbers and special characters. No thief cares about my hotel stays, when it's supposed to be protected with a thumb print.
Next is the customer service. What's the point of staying in a hotel chain when you have to put up with poor customer service. I'm a Platinum member, and can't check out a little late? Really? I've been treated WORSE AS a platinum member.
Not with Hilton or even Choice Hotels. I get treated like a King. (I don't deserve or want it) but their customer service is OVER THE TOP.

Needs to be cleaner 3/5
The app isn’t bad, but it seems so crowded and hard to get around. Hilton has the best mobile app that I’ve used. It’s so clean, easy on the eye, and super easy to get around. You should add room selection at check in on the app and mobile key option. The Starwood app is a bit better too. Simple is better sometimes.
Super slow 1/5
This app takes forever to update your points for your stays which means it takes forever for you to redeem them
C'mon Marriott, keep up with the band, meaning IHG, Hilton, etc...
Invalid access token 1/5
Unable to do early check in. This was supposedly fixed but it’s still not fixed for me.
Will rate again when it’s fully functional.
Updated on February 8:
Tried again to use this to do early check in for my stay this weekend. This error is still not fixed. And because the developer said it was fixed and it wasn’t, this now gets one star until it actually is fixed.
App is confusing 1/5
The navigation is so confusing. A monkey randomly clicking around would. Have better luck finding something than a human! You took a simple thing a made it way too complicated.
Does what it is supposed to do 5/5
Decent app that makes easy booking rooms and checking in. The mobile key works well, too, where available.
Adding upcoming reservations 3/5
By JB 305 407
I used to be able to add upcoming reservations if it didn’t appear in that section. I did it online on my desktop but it still has not updated to the app and it’s been more than 72 hours. Need to fix this bug!
Interfere by China too much 1/5
By Roland 梁
Show no respect to Taiwanese people by FORCING ‘Taiwan’ to ‘Chinese belonging ‘ on your APP and website.
Problems with logging in make it useless 1/5
By Leo Lyon
I usually don’t install these kinds of apps but have an upcoming Marriott stay and thought I’d try it to facilitate check-in. I entered my rewards account number and password but it wouldn’t recognize me. I tried resetting my password and it wouldn’t let me. I tried again using my email address and tried resetting my password that way. Still no luck. As a last resort I tried to click on the customer support link but nothing happened. Not sure what the story is but I’m not impressed...
your app is useless 1/5
and one more thing, your app is useless and complicated Specially for booking or checking the rooms
Unlike other apps
I can't use it 1/5
I can't use it at all! And why Chinese word pop out all the time?
Add the ability to redeem certificates 4/5
I wanted to redeem a certificate for a stay and I had to use the website. Other than that, the app works great now that they re-added iPhone X support.
Amazing app and quick developer response!
By Come on Yahoo
This app has come a long way in the past year. It used to be unusable but it works well now.
Much improvement needed but overall worth having 3/5
The app is a good idea but the integration with actual hotels is not there. I went to a site that had the mobile keys and it was a disaster- I couldn’t get in my room or the lounge and had to go all the way back to the desk for a traditional key. I also would like for once I do mobile check in to not have to get out my credit card and everything since I have it on file and I’ve checked in. Please also work on update times. It keeps telling me to check out of hotels 1-2 days after I have left.
History of stays needs > 1 year 1/5
Need to have all stays to search through. One I my expense reports is saying a stay from over a year ago was billed to my business credit. It would be great to quickly pull that transaction, but the history only goes back a year.
By Not a fake user
The only thing this app does is book rooms, and it does a poor job of that. Poor navigation, poor visual of where you want to go, poor everything. Can’t even find a way to look up stay history or receipts (which I need now that Marriott just stopped giving receipts without notice). Totally worthless. Hilton, here I come.
Will not accept dates on calendars. Web site works, app does not.
Great App. I use it for all my travels.
Great app and it works as intended 5/5
I switched from web site to app and found it’s easy to use and serves the purpose. I found the lowest price and good package deal. I could also use the app to make requests, chat for any issues and requested delay check out. I love the design and ease of use. I hope they keep up the good work and implement all the functions from the web site so I don’t need to kept go back to the web for new promotions and tracking the promotion progress. Strongly recommended.
I haven’t had issues with mobile check in or out however the room requests are useless. It’s faster just to call the front desk.
Make bill printable from app 2/5
Business travelers could really use this as a convenience. It seems to be getting more and difficult to retrieve my bill. Can't retrieve on the app at all and not all bills are showing up as viewable on the mobile website. Really not good customer service having to copy the ebill into a word document to transfer it or take a picture and scan it all the time when you're running all over the place. Would be nice to be able to sit and transfer it over when you have downtime like I do now, but can't because the app doesn't have that feature and the only option I have when I go to the website and view my bill is "rebook". My laptop is not always handy. Please make this easier for your mobile customers.
Always down - not reliable 2/5
By Jane, TX
For 4 days out of the last 11 the app either isn’t working at all or certain features of it isn’t (like booking a room!!!! )
May call the app tampon - 1week in , 3 weeks out
What happened ?? 2/5
After last update, no longer optimized for iPhone X!!
Still haven't fixed 1/5
You said you were going to add non-available properties in the search. Hasn't been done yet!
Fire the QA team 1/5
Was informed to changed my password, so I changed it online and can access your website fine, but now I can’t even log into your mobile app with my new password. You pulled a Days Inn or HoJo quality type app.
No IPhone X support 1/5
So with the latest update there is now no support for iPhone X. Please change this ASAP. Thanks.
iPhone X support no more! 1/5
By Mr Santana
I use to log into the app and it was compatible with my iPhone X but now only the Ritz Carlton app works. Fix this malfunction!
Please optimize to iPhone X 2/5
Lots of improvements in recent updates, but most of my apps have optimized to iPhone X and this one has not...
New update no working on the iPhone X 5/5
By Jomael Ortiz
The new update does not cover the full screen in the iPhone X it looks like it has never been updated to the iPhone X.
Nice app overall! 4/5
This app works well for me. The new version (6.9.3) just killed iPhone X support. The prior version worked fine.
By Brad Mac
Latest update removed iPhone X support and the interface is now a mess. Links are sitting on top of other links and other oddities.
Customer service number has a typo in Wallet 4/5
I have tried to explain this to the CSRs on the phone multiple times without success. Showed them screen shots and all but they want to only blame it on not being a Marriott app so to contact Apple. I could be wrong, but isn’t the Marriott card in my Wallet getting the information on my account from the Marriott app? The number listed to contact Marriott rewards is 1-888-097-3433. Numbers in the North American dialing plan cannot start with a zero so obviously this is a typo/wrong number.
Hope this helps to fix the issue.
Constantly get service is unavailable notice
User-friendly and actually useful. 5/5
By "Surviving and Thriving"
Great app. Thanks.
Can’t rate it when it doesn’t work 1/5
By Chairmans Club
Mostly malfunctions when it does open. Now I’m in a constant loop - time to check in to reap your elite benefits. Then - go to the app then - oops something went wrong. 3 years age they tried a different Pp that left me stranded outside my room & had to go to front desk to get in.
App not working 1/5
The app has not been working the past several days?
Marriott Mobile App 1/5
By Monte in KY
Ok, I’m a lifetime Platinum member and my mobile app has not worked for almost two weeks (as of 1/21/2018). I used the update function this morning and still no dice. Come on guys- Marriott is way better than this...
