Microsoft Excel app reviews

  • Muy bueno 5/5

    By Cyag
Muy útil. Y fácil de usar
  • Vague New Normal 1/5

    By Jasonjy
I guess it’s acceptable for developers to push updates without real release notes now? Just some cute blurb about how they update the app every week without a word about what’s different.
  • Disappointed 1/5

    By Ctss star
Not only is the app version much more difficult to use than the desktop, I have also lost all of my saved work. All of my saved spreadsheets now give me error that “document is on an unsupported server and cannot be retrieved” upon attempt to open either on app or desktop. Total waste of my time and effort put into these spreadsheets.

Excellent app. I use this app for my business and it works excellent! I highly recommend it.
  • Used to be free? 1/5

Terrible app, can’t do anything anymore. Back to google sheets i guess..
  • I love it 4/5

    By Eslev
I love this app but I need to be able to “tab” and “delete” on in my spreadsheet
  • Latest update broke the ability to add storage service 2/5

    By J180
I’m now unable to add storage service in Excel, Word, or PowerPoint. I clicked on the storage service I would like to include, in the screen just freezes.
  • Great 5/5

    By Flybryy
    Great
  • Now using Pages 1/5

    By Selvius
It’s simply not worth paying monthly for Excel, when the equivalent is available for free from numerous sources. I continued using Microsoft Office out of habit, until basic functions like creating and editing documents required a fee. Now using Pages, and am perfectly happy with its compatibility. It feels good to be free.
  • App Not Activating Office 365 Subscription 1/5

    By cheesebug
I've had an Office 365 Personal Subscription for a while now and it has been working well. After the latest update it won't recognize my subscription. I've talked with two customer support agents and they show my account going in good standing and having a Subscription but the app won't activate after logging in. This app is useless if it won't recognize my subscription. MS Word app does the same thing but OneDrive actually recognizes my subscription.
  • Not all aspects available 4/5

    By kaitybug20
The app runs well and is extremely useful! Unfortunately the additional functions when creating a graph are not available in the app such as displaying a line equation on the graph. As such this make it difficult to complete tasks which require the use of these features which are available in the desktop version of excel. Besides that I haven't had any issues using this app for basic tasks.
  • Must create Microsoft account 1/5

    By Apadder
You cannot edit or save work unless you create an Office 365 account. That was not specified in the info, so a download and setup time was wasted.
  • Not useful 1/5

    By Mtan987
Not all facilities available in iPad version such as opening several sheets or pivot table options. It’s good only for reviewing pre-prepared sheets only
  • Works Very Well 5/5

    By Tjc_552
.... For an App. Does everything my desktop will do. Thank you for a great product!
  • Bugs and design flaw frustration 2/5

    By Postmister
I love Excel! Love it! THIS, is bordering on unusable. More frustrating than anything because of the amount of bugs in this version. Half the screen disappears, for no reason, once every minutes and a half. The formula suggestions are defaulted to “insert” so when you type a formula the suggestions disappear. If it was just those things alone, 3-stars. BUT the design flaw is inexcusable. The pen functionality...... is garbage. Whoever, Engineer/Designer/Project Manger, decided that the pen is only useful for drawing, IN EXCEL!?!?, should be flogged! I get the ability to draw with a pen, sure, makes sense, but AUTO DEFAULTS to “draw”, the moment the pen touches the screen, with an inability to turn it off, is nothing short of incompetence. Very unhappy.

  • Why Microsoft Office = G.O.A.T. 5/5

    By Brett J. Lewis
Near clone of it’s computer counterpart. Too many app creators make the mistake of believing consumers want their smart phone apps to be dumbed down, smaller, and simpler versions of full scale PC/Mac software. In reality, most people actually prefer faithful, full scale ports whenever possible, especially when it seamlessly melds both versions.. This app is a reminder why Microsoft’s Office related offerings have been & will likely continue to be the most enduring on the market.
  • Lost my spreadsheet 1/5

    By Cryticflygrl
I saved my spreadsheet in the cloud that I spent 6 hours on before the semester started and all of a sudden it could no longer open it because it could not recognize the file??? “The file format or file extension is not valid” I am so angry. I needed it to stay on top of my work. I used the cloud in case my computer crashed or I lost it and still lost the document. What is that? Such bulls**t.

  • Quirky and not easy to use 3/5

Quirky and not easy to use. Some basic features from desktop Excel are missing on mobile app.
  • Excel 5/5

    Love Excel!
  • Lacks a lot! 3/5

    By Slcdbred
I’m not sure why people are so pleased with this app, it lacks many simple functions from the desktop version. One of the most annoying is the inability to go into “page view”, making it impossible to format sheets that will need to be fitted to single pages for printing etc.
  • Great app 5/5

    Love it very handy
  • RMD Excel 3/5

    By Doc D55
I'm very happy now. The earlier version not so much, but now I'm very happy. I've been a Microsoft user for 30 years. I totally love Excel. I've used it for work, keep as checkbook, travel expenses, on and on. My title was Constructed Manager, of multi-million to billion dollar projects. I've got 4 college degrees. Love Excel. However anyone can make use of this program and love it. This current version is the very best to use on Apple ISO products and very easy to use. It's just a matter of experimenting and before you know it your an expert. Enjoy! 02Aug16 The improvement continue to make Excel better and better. I've been using Excel on my own Microsoft computer for many years and I continue to find more uses and simpler way of doing things. This App is continuing to evolve making everything simpler and more fun to use. I strongly suggest to try it if you haven't before. 04FEB17 This App has completely gone down hill. A very simple thing to do is format a column of numbers. Ex: Dates, Dollars. Well....if anyone figures out how please let me know without having to write a very time consuming formula. That is the only method I could fine. When this App first came out, one (1) Tap set the cell or the column format. Now? Forget it.

Great for date entry use with pre designed excel files, or temples; wouldn’t want to creat a new templet on table version other than modification.
  • Save change 1/5

    By Kiskok
Doesn’t save changes on Dropbox... please fix it...
  • You will lose the option to edit 1/5

    By smillerx
After the v2.9 update on January 16, 2018, I can no longer edit Excel files, they are restricted to view only. This is a serious downgrade in capability.

  • Editing options takes time to get used to. 3/5

    By Diana's review
I enjoy excel for creating spreadsheets, however, I find this app difficult to manage and go back and forth between imputing data and formatting. It takes time to get used to working around that.
  • Good but.... 4/5

    By BreTre
Margins. I hate it that I can’t change them. That’s my biggest dislike. Otherwise I really like the app.

    Very good and functional
  • Undo button from hell 1/5

    By Patrick Bruce
Finally you have asked me to review your POS app. I want the person’s head who put the undo button on the keypad on a spike. You cannot undo the undo button, you can not deactivate the undo button. You placed the unwanted undo button right where someone who knows how to type hits the space bar with their thumb and I say again you cannot undo the undo button. You already have a backspace key and a clear function there is no need or want for the undo button. Infinite stupidity. Die, die, die!!!! Best regards Patrick Bruce
  • Have to keep logging in 3/5

    By WingedSpur
With 365 Excel on the iPad is usually a great idea. But this version requires me to login to my 365 account repeatedly. I don't lose data but it’s annoying as hell.

  • Required Office 365 subscription to save 1/5

    By leomtoni
This used to be very helpful to make minor modifications to spreadsheets created on a computer running Excel. It has never been convenient enough to create spreadsheets on an iPad Pro—unless the spreadsheet is really, really simple. With the latest update, it requires Office 365 to make any modifications, going back on Microsoft's promise of free Office for the iPad. If the version of Excel running on your computer is not 365, you will have to subscribe. Unfortunately, Excel for iPad does not justify a the cost of an Office 365 subscription. This app is now a glorified spreadsheet viewer.
  • Works Great on iPad Pro 5/5

    By AQuickMom
I've been very pleased with how well it has worked on my iPad Pro. Very helpful. Would buy again and recommend to anyone with a Pro.
  • Good when it’s working 3/5

    By Sundlie
I love being able to use Excel on my iPad Pro as it’s super easy to make adjustments on the go. I’ve got Office 365 and my documents are stored on OneDrive so I’m usually able to make changes and it shows up on my other devices. However at least once a week the app seems to forget my password and all my documents stop syncing. I have to sign in again and then it overwrites any changes I’ve made on my iPad since it decided to stop syncing. OneDrive has been doing weird stuff like this on all my laptops, desktops and tablets over the past few years. In fact the last time OneDrive seemed to be problem free was back when it was called SkyDrive. Hopefully Microsoft gets things figured out eventually. If not I’ll probably just switch over to Google Docs when my 365 subscription ends.

  • Add Apple cloud 1/5

    By Great app!!!.
I only want to use this to update a file I have on apple cloud while on the go. This supports a bunch of cloud based but not Apple cloud.
  • Previously enjoyed this app 2/5

    By Waco catholic gal
Previously this app has worked great for me, but as of the past week, with the new application, the app will suddenly not allow me to save changes within my document and despite retrying multiple times, I have to rename the document to get it to finally save. Very frustrating. Wait until the bugs are fixed before you buy this.
