Microsoft Excel app reviews

  • Excellent 5/5

    By Steven Zyler
7/17/17 I'm not sure what happened--or what possessed me to try updating the Excel app again--but this time, I was able to edit and save files again, on iPhone, without an Office 365 subscription, so long as I had created an account and logged in. None of this was working back in April, so I wound up uninstalling Excel 2.x and reinstalled the latest version of 1.x (which I was glad I had saved). 4/11/17 From 5 stars to 1 (or 0)... The ability to edit and save files without an Office 365 subscription was removed without warning, so now the app is useless to many of us. Previously, the subscription was only required for premium features, if I recall. Good thing there are other options for mobile spreadsheet software that can sync with Dropbox. Excel 2.0 for iOS heads to the trash bin. Sad.
  • Great app 5/5

    By Partmusic
Almost as good as having your laptop, but in your phone. I'm impressed.
  • Gets worse every update 1/5

    By ches3239
I am using excel on iPad for a few years, the last few updates it makes it less usable for example this update you cannot scan in barcodes anymore it won't capture the full barcode or the barcode will get divided in 2 cells. Is there anyway to get a previous version of the app
  • Feature removal 5/5

    By pqal
You last update removed to many features that worked quite well! Not happy with the change at all on iPhone or smart phones. 8-17-2017 Back to loving my app thank you!!!!!!

    By Gotostep2
No problems and I can access/edit documents from my OneDrive account.
  • Does Not Allow Input 1/5

    By Purple Rain 15
Edit: YET ANOTHER UPDATE, AND STILL BOT FIXING THE PROBLEM...WHY DOES THE KEYBOARD NOT COME UP IF THE CELL YOU ARE TOUCHING IS TOO SMALL...WHY DO I HAVE TO ZOOM IN FOR THERE TO BE A RESPONSE FROM THE KEYBOARD ??? IT USED TO WIRK PROPERLY Edit: THERE HAS NOW BEEN 2 UPDATES SINCE I HAVE BROUGHT UP THE ISSUE OF THE KEYBOARD, AND ITS STILL NOT WORKING !!! WHATS THE POINT OF FEEDBACK ?? ITS NOT LIKE WE ARE NOT PAYING FOR 365!! Used to work great before update...Now when you try enter data, it does not bring up keyboard Edit: The app only brings up the keyboard to input data, if you zoom into a cell Not sure why the developers are responding to other complaints, but ignoring this problem ? Edit: The keyboard does not come up on double tap, it only comes if the cell is a protected cell..It does come up in the formula bar...It has the same problem on both of my iphones, iPhone 6 and 7plus
  • Works as well as expected 4/5

    By Somedude45
Excel is a must on all of my devices. I use it for budgeting mostly now but before I retired it was part of almost all the reports I prepared, tracking labor hours, job completion, ..etc. I can't believe how well it functions on my mobile devices. I review our budget when we are out shopping and needing to make a large purchase. I can pull up excel and my sheet in a flash! Great product, even with the hiccups it has every now and again. It's mostly a learning curve, when you get rid of the keyboard and mouse, when operating in a mobile environment.
  • It's a great app 4/5

I'm not a fan of paying a subscription to Microsoft for the privilege of being able to edit documents on my iPad. No thanks Microsoft.

I use Excel on a daily basis on my PC at work and am very happy to have it on my iPad & iPhone without having to have the 365 subscription (I do have that for my Windows laptop). Thanks for a great program!
  • SOOO thankful.. 5/5

    By Thankfl
I had been totally locked out of Google everything for 4 harrowing days! My health info, my business, my church lists and all personal info. Was thrilled to read excellent reviews about OneDrive .. and love using Excel and Word online. I feel 'safe' again that no one Co can hold my life 'hostage'!

I use this app to complement the full version on my laptop. Synchs with DropBox. I rely on it everyday to handle quick updates, reviews, and budget analysis. Never had any issues with performance, sync, or access. Highly recommend it for anyone who uses Excel for business, home, or hobby.

  • Works 5/5

    By Must Read 1
    Great for quick mobile work.
  • Cannot Connect to Server 1/5

    By flyboy1154
Worthless piece of junk. I cannot connect to server and access my OneDrive files no matter what I do. I also can't save things to my OneDrive account. How useless. I've tried: login to Microsoft account and log out, uninstall app and reinstall and have even done a complete factory reset of my iPad. Doesn't work. And I have an Office 365 subscription! What a waste of money.

I use Excel 2010 on my laptop and everything I do there can be duplicated now on my iPad Pro. I really like the ability to save files on the iPad as opposed to needing to save them on the cloud. Thanks. The only spreadsheet I use.

  • No More Editing on iPad Pro 1/5

    By RMKDesigns
I have been using Microsoft office for many years. I have purchased many version upgrades for my PC and have enjoyed editing files on my iPad for many years as well. It seams recently that the ability to edit and save files has been taken away if you have an iPad Pro unless you pay extra for the Office 365 subscription which I would never do. I understand if you do not own office for Microsoft to charge for this app, but since I have it on my desktop I am very disappointed. I have deleted this app and will use Numbers from this point forward.

  • Why the difference between iPad Air and Pro?!?!? 1/5

    By KRZgrl
I'm sooooo disappointed!!! I just traded in my iPad Air 2 for an iPad Pro (10.5), only to find out that now I have to pay to use Excel?!?!? Why??? Now, I'll have to deal with using Excel on my smaller phone screen?? What a sucky customer experience!

  • Have You Considered Using A Customer Panel/Study To Get. . . 2/5

    By gust0392
. . . A Better Understanding of How "Un" User-Friendly You've Made This App? For some reason, it feels to me like the individuals who created the app had never used Excel before. A good metaphor would be like having Car Salesman designing and producing medical supplies. While using excel on my iPad is similar to using Excel on a desktop, Windows computer, if you this App was marketed under some other brand name, I'd have no idea it was supposed to be "Excel" Spreadsheets. It just doesn't have all the functionality of the Windows versions, and the tools are not the same. I could go through each tool and how it's similar and how it's different , but you'd have to pay me. I'd think you guys would have consulted with somebody on this, or had a customer panel at the very least. I still use the app for the most basic of things: to-do lists, calendars, basic budgeting. But I could never use it for the work I do. It just doesn't have the capabilities nor do I trust my data in the app for a minute. That's all I have for you guys.
  • Best ever! 5/5
