  • Buggy 2/5

    By Tom10135
Undo doesn’t work when you’re editing in track changes—at least, sometimes it doesn’t work. Renaming a file creates two versions. MS Word can’t save offline and upload things later. Sometimes, when you try to save something, it hangs forever. CMD+Shift+Arrow keys to highlight shows highlight call outs in the wrong place.

Works Magnificently used in my foster parent training conference & it was like being at my desktop at home. Now I work more efficiently taking important notes of any subject matter. I recommend you try it if you already haven't!
  • A word for Word 5/5

    By MNCMatthew
Microsoft Word, and all the Office programs, are 100% worth the money. The features they offer and the layout are better than any other program that I've seen by far. This app has allowed me to pull up documents I wrote on the computer and easily transfer between the two. This is an amazing app! I highly recommend it! -Yours truly, me

I love this app because I like the STCaiyun font. And could write stories and print it. I wonder what other new things I could use.
  • Poor Touch Sensitivity 1/5

    By drpadalinski
It seems the more that I work with a document in this app, the worse the touch sensitivity gets. I'm constantly having to save, close and re-open the app just so I can move my cursor to the correct part of the sentence for editing. Minutes after I start using it, I can't place the cursor anywhere except the end of the sentence or a few words away from the area I intend to edit. At its worst, I can't even move the cursor at all. I also can't use my Apple Pencil to guide the cursor- it only seems to want to draw on my document! Incredibly silly issues that need to be fixed.
  • Fix the fundamentals 3/5

    By Sellador
Update: I am taking away another star. Seriously, this is a potentially exceptional app that is degraded by several annoying problems they never seem to fix. The first is the upgrade issue that I talk about in the previous update below. It wastes my time when I should be working. Everyone hates it; everyone complains about it... we are all paying good money for Office 365. Just fix it already! Another is that Recent Folders never updates. I have been looking at the same list for months now and it never changes to reflect the actual recent folders I have used. They are mostly on Dropbox, but since they support Dropbox, Recent Folders should work. I checked the dates, and many of the ones showing are from early 2016 so that is how long it has been since it worked. Tonight, I just wanted to open a Word document, make a few changes, and export it as a PDF. One would think that the export function would default to the location of the Word file, but it doesn't. One would also think that the folder I just opened the Word file in would be in recents, but it isn't. So then I had to click my way from the root of Dropbox all the way into a nest of sub folders to put the file right where I already was. Again, it just wastes my time. The third is that there is no way to universally turn off Auto-save. I don’t want a Word to auto-save. I turn it off for each file as I open it, but the next file always has it turned back on. It takes time to have to do that manually to each file I open, and to what point? Just let me turn it off universally. I am locked into Word for work, so I keep using it and just live with these annoyances. But anyone looking to choose an entire platform for their regular computer and iPad may want to consider how much tolerance they have for such things. Update: Many users have been complaining for a long time, now about how all of the iOS office apps continually 'forget' that we have paid for Office 365. You open a document and start to work on it, only to be told that some feature requires the upgrade that I already have. I am SO tired of having to 'upgrade' it several times a week, and it always seems to happen when I'm in a hurry. This should be an easy thing to fix, and they just won't, so I assume my time and user experience means little to Microsoft. Until that is fixed, I am deducting another point. Three stars for now. My original review follows. ----- This is an excellent app, absolutely invaluable to any user of Office365. I remember all the years of mobile versions of Word, both from MS and others, and this is everything I wished for back then. I highly recommend this for any iPad user who uses Word on the desktop and would like to be portable with it. I did take away one star, however, for some problems in how some of the features work. Yesterday, for example, I started a document on my desktop, then opened it in Word for iOS to copy and paste something from my iPad. Although the document had been saved to OneDrive and showed up in Word for iOS, the document was blank inside on the iPad. The text showed fine on the desktop, but simply wouldn't show on the iPad. It took a lot of fiddling to finally get the text to show up about 15 minutes later. This kind of thing happens frequently to me, yet for a system that is intended for collaboration, this inconsistency and slow response via OneDrive is unacceptable. If live collaboration is what you need, you may still be better off with Google Docs for now.

The differences between traditional desktop Word program and the tablet program command (how to change font size, bold, paragraph commands) is very frustrating and detracts from effective and efficient use.

  • Review of Microsoft Word. 5/5

    By lemtreepro01
I have used, and been a fan of Microsoft Word for many years. I am very comfortable with this software and would not want to ever use another word processor type program unless I did not have Word and were forced to use something else. For me, this software is the top of the line. Since my relationship with this software is such a long-standing one, I feel as if Word frees me up to express my thoughts on just about anything that I may be thinking about.
  • Crashing!! 1/5

    By Bensimon
I used to LOVE this app. It was my go to word processing app. Now, since the update, the app randomly crashes and even though it saves some of what I’ve been working on, I keep losing a lot of work that I have to recreate. It’s cumbersome to keep saving manually all the time. This never used to happen. It makes me wary about using the app.
  • Major Bug Alert! 1/5

    By 2CentReview
I have been using this app for quite some time and have found it very useful. But there is one major bug to be aware of! If you select all of the text in your document and want to change the font, then tap on the font list box to select your font... Naturally for me I start typing in the font list box to search for the font to use, my experience is it will overwrite all of your text. When you hit undo, it has nothing to undo. All of your work will be lost if you have auto save on. One way to get around it is to turn off auto save then discard any changes as you close your document but this doesn’t help if you have made important changes.

Crash, crash, and crash since IOS 11 I have lost work, I write fiction, and like word to move from the ipad, iphone to the mac. Now it is like playing Russian Roulette, what is going on? I cannot select words close to the margins, and I start losing functionality. That is bad enough, but the crashing 20 times in one hour? Maybe is the IOS, but maybe is word, or a combination of both. Please fix it. This won‘t do.

  • Lost functionality since Apple Pencil Update 2/5

    By I hate this version
Okay, so the new pens are nice, and thanks for giving +Learn back. That was cool of you. HOWEVER: Now it is crashing unpredictably and uncontrollably. I am editing a 153 page document and all I want to do is hunt your app team down and slay them right now. FIX THE CRASH ISSUE, PLEASE! I DO NOT LIKE BEING THIS ANGRY AT STRANGERS. THOSE STRANGERS ARE YOU, APP TEAM. There are way too many bugs on the iPad Pro, whether I'm using my Logitech keyboard or not. All of these started with the update mentioned in the title, have not been fixed with subsequent updates, and occur whether you have the Pencil set to draw or not. If I go to split screen, switch apps, pull up the control panel, pull down the notifications, swipe right for another app, or double tap home, I will lose ALL FUNCTIONALITY IN WORD except to 1.) type, 2.) press and hold to highlight a word and drag the dots to highlight more, and 3.) hit the arrow to save and go back out. If I want to format, copy/paste/cut, literally do anything, I have to double tap home, swipe up to close word, and reopen the app. This is irritating because I use Word constantly. It's how I make a living. I've been using it for about 23-24 years now, I think. My dad taught me how to type on it and I grew up writing on it. After the d*ck slap to the face that was Windows 10, I think you guys need to be better people than the ones who put out these kind of low-quality work.

  • Awesome app with one exception 4/5

    By Satorimoments
I love having access to Word from my iPad and iPhone. It is an excellent word processor, but there are a couple pretty bothersome bugs. The letter "I" capitalizes itself even at the beginning of words, and the word "which" pops two h's at the end of it every time I type it. Both issues are very frustrating. Hoping these are corrected soon. Other than that, it's a great app.

I do not like the fact that in order for me to use just the basic functions of Microsoft word, excel, and PowerPoint, I have to pay $6.99 a month. This is not right! What happened to the old Microsoft?

  • Missing templates & features 3/5

    By FaereWolf
I have to use this for school, and I use the mobile version, which in a lot of ways I really like. But there are features missing that I have used before, so less control over what I’m doing which is a shame. (Like creating citations for the work that will then just insert and be in the format I’ve chosen, as I can use all the help I can get in that area. Also, footnotes aren’t easy either.) Also there are barely any templates, which is also upsetting because I need very specific things for my classes, and it would be extremely helpful for me if I had a much wider range of templates. I did find some on the Microsoft website, but they don’t work properly, so that’s a bust. Hoping these things will be addressed in an update.

    By $?runt?$
Of course it's a free app. All it is subscription add on. You must first buy Office* for this app to do anything. Don't bother. Looking for a similar word app. WPS is great for iPhones. Just a little pocket version of your daily schedule/appts. Of course I thought this was an app for word. But there is no way to write without signing into an account and accessing your need-to-purchase Microsoft Office.
