Update review 1/5
Just silly now. They made the resolution so tiny I must use reading glasses now. And they thought "M" is necessary replacement for "$"!!!!???? Really!!!??? This is the garbage you spend time on? Not improving the AI? Have NEVER lost a game even on "hard." Would delete but my 7 year old niece likes beating the game.
AI is dim. You figure out the way to beat the AI in about 5 games. No it is just a matter of seeing how quickly you can beat the game. Still play it once a week, but it has lost any challenge.
Random my butt 3/5
It will pass the time BUT too easy on lowest setting and rigged on higher one
Not a great game 2/5
Rolls are not random. One player has better luck after going around the board 4-5 times
Rigged die and the screen continually goes black 1/5
By Rich Man Jones
One of the reviewers mentioned a scenario where you can own the majority of the board with hotels and houses on all and the AI will manage to go around the board six times without touching any of your stuff while you on the other hand hit every tax and the chance/community chest always gives you the horrid maintenance cards.
And ever since I updated to iOS 10.2, the screen continually goes black so often that it's frustrating to keep playing.
Unenjoyable and Rigged 1/5
By *Punk Rocker*
Truthfully I thought everyone saying the game was rigged wasn't being honest. However, it's true. The game is so rigged there is no chance of beating it even on the easiest level. It's not even fun to play. It's just frustrating.
Level of difficulty 4/5
Been playing for years.
It is getting boring now especially when one wins 9.5 games out of 10.
Difficulty update anyone?
It's ok implementation of the game, pretty and official. But animations slowing the play a lot.
I love the AI 3/5
pretty good how on medium they're easier than on easy
Game is trash 1/5
Please don't waste your money. Dice are not random and game play is terrible.
Impossible to win 3/5
Just as you think you are doing great all of a sudden the AI has hotels built and you "happen" to land on there property and BOOM you owe them $1500 and you are bankrupt...the sad part is is that you predicted rolling the exact number needed to go bankrupt. Pretty irritating save your money...
The MOST CHEATING GAME every!!! 1/5
To start off:
If buy this game don't every play
HUMAN vs all AI.
You will lose! I have owned every thing but the chance and community chest on one side of the board. I had hotels and houses on everything.
The computer will find its way through, not once, but
EVERY SINGLE TIME!
I mean I don't expect to win every game, if so it would be no fun. I would also love to have a shot at winning! Give me a break, this is ridiculous. If you land on a chance or community you are almost guaranteed to pay some type of fine. At the same time you have to watch the computer advance along and GET PAID every time they land on the same blocks, and miss ALL of yours smh. I love monopoly but this game make me hate it. The only way to have a chance in this game is to have
2 HUMAN vs 2 AI
That way you can trade with yourself and have a shot. I hope this was useful to somebody. I also hope the developers read this and make some corrections. PLEASE!
Fun but Unfair 3/5
Monopoly is such a fun game but I must concur with other users that the dice rolls are not random. Very suspicious that the AIs have an advantage on the difficult levels.
Coool ....but 4/5
NEEDS ONLINE PLAY NOT JUST LOCAL WIFI LIKE WHAT IS THAT TF!!! Otherwise it's good.
No sound 3/5
By Muted man
Game is a lot of fun and works great, can feature up to four players human or computer. My biggest complaint is that I can't get the sound to work, pretty sure the game doesn't work in that regard.
To be honest I believe that the game is rigged for you to fail, I have played over and over and started to notice a very strong pattern where I usually land on losing money or going to jail before I even have the chance to accumulate money. I have also noticed when it come to giving or receiving money from player to player it doesn't always show, for instance there have been times when a player owes me money and it will show them losing the money but yet I will not revive it or vice versa.
Dice need to be fixed 1/5
The dice rolls are not random. It seems like it wouldn't be a difficult fix with an update. I've landed on income tax more times playing 3 games with this app than I have the last 15 times I've played on an actual Monopoly board.
HATE IT 1/5
Was not worth the money!!
Doesn't work will with wifi 2/5
I downloaded this game in hopes of playing with my husband. In order to do so you have to be connected to the same wifi in which we were. On three different occasions the game disconnected and was immediately replaced with Al. It's really frustrating being in the midst of winning and having the game kick one of us out. We also tried to play each other using the Bluetooth connection. Which also failed. Please fix this.
The games is "rigged" 2/5
I've loved Monopoly my whole life. I was optimistic to find this here in the App Store, only to watch as the supposed "AI" makes rigged roles repeatedly. There really is no "AI", just how slanted the dice roll odds are stacked. I am in the process of running a statistical analysis in the dice rolls to publish the exact "rigged" details, but it sure takes a lot of fun out of the game. EA and Hasbro should be ashamed. But, looking over the reviews, on the App Store, and on Amazon, this is a well known problem. It wouldn't take much to fix this and to expand the house rules options. Competition will ultimately sink whoever is making the decisions behind this app. By this app if you want to play with friends, but if you plan to play against to Computer - it's not fun, because it's not fair.
Good, but needs something else... 4/5
By Thy doggo
The gameplay of the game is great, but I'm tired of playing with A.I/ or one more person. I think Monopoly game should add an online mode and I'm not just talking about wireless mode, I am talking about you being able to play with people around the world via wifi, great game though.
AI Bias 3/5
The difficulty settings only change the rolls the AI's get to be better.
I want to return it my money 1/5
I don't like it
DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON THIS 1/5
By Honestly Olivia
This game was fun the first couple times even though I lost. I decided to put the Al's difficulty level on hard, yet I still kept losing. Every time I play with the ship and the top hat (I am always the cat) they always get good rolls no matter what color or what difficulty they are. Take it from me, this game is rigged. You would have so much more fun buying an actual Monopoly Game Board form Target for $15 then spending apple money on this horribly unfair, eye straining app.
Motion Sickness 1/5
If you're at all sensitive to motion, don't get this. Poor user interface puts you in fixed loops. Camera spins around, thing flash. No option to stop animation. Nope.
Very fun game 5/5
This game is very fun. People who give it bad reviews aren't lying about the loaded die but it does make it more difficult for a purpose. You have to know or learn how to play the game with maximum efficiency or you will lose easily and get frustrated on higher difficulty settings. I learned how to make the game work in my favor and haven't lost on the hardest difficulty 10 games in a row. If you do lose, try again...don't write a bad review just because you lost a game on the hardest difficulty. Learn to beat the game and it will be very challenging and very fun.
Please make available for Apple TV 4/5
We love this app but would like to be able to play on Apple TV. The "Here and Now" version is there but my kids grew up on the original.
I literally had 3 of the green properties and had four houses on each property. The computer had all 3 red properties and had no houses on them. The computer literally landed on the community chest at least 6 times and never landed on any of my properties. Then as soon as they put hotels down I land on their property. After losing $1,050, as soon as I get close to them...I land on it...again. Also I went to jail like 4 times.
Good not great 4/5
The game is good but the AI doesn't understand trading value very well, even at the highest difficulty. It's not fun when AI 2 gives AI 3 a monopoly for basically nothing.
Boring game/unfair gameplay 2/5
I love the board game Monopoly, but this phone game made it so boring. The user interface is far from good. Not very user friendly. The AI and dice roll is unfair. It is not random at all. I have played hundreds of iPhone games and trust me this game is 'pretty bad.' Not horrible, but pretty bad.
Addicting but 4/5
You can't play online! And it cheats lol
Waste of money 2/5
Its not worth the 0.99 cents, its that bad. The UI is terrible, the graphics are very rudimentary and overall just not fun.
Long Distance 4/5
This game needs a feature to add friends so it can be played while not in the same area as your opponents. I would love to be able to play "long distance". My friends and I don't live in the same area but we love the game and it would be nice to play each other when we are apart.
Very poor game. 1/5
This game really needs an update. Other users can believe it's not rigged in the AI's favor, but it's so obvious by the dice roll. The game becomes easy to manipulate, but that's no fun.
This game is rigged! 1/5
Here's a personal example of what you'll face if you go 1v1 against AI...
You'll own 23 properties to the AI's 5 after making various trades. The AI will have monopolies and hotels in the cheap brown properties (Baltic and Mediterranean) and the red properties (Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois). Again, you own every other property and have hotels on your light blue, purple, and orange properties, as well as building houses on the yellows.
You should be on your way to victory, right? Well, not if the game is rigged. The AI will defy odds by avoiding all your houses, hotels, railroads, and utilities for at least 6 revolutions around the board. During this time, you'll land on their brown properties 6 straight times, and on a red property 3 times. You'll owe income tax once and luxury tax 3 times. You'll owe so much money that you'll need to start selling your houses and hotels... but not before you're hit with the "chance" card of having to pay $60 for every house and $120 for every hotel you own.
Pretty soon, you'll run out of money, and the AI will start landing on your properties... but oh wait, they're mortgaged at this point, so the AI doesn't have to pay you.
Finally, you'll wonder why you could have possibly lost while owning over 80% of the properties and 9 hotels.
The game is rigged. Don't waste your time, money, and patience.
Al are dumb and it hurts you 1/5
The Al in this game make horrible trade deals. They will trade a single spot and give the other Al a monopoly every chance they have. You are basically playing a game of 3 vs 1 with how bad their trades are made. If you play 1v1 you have a very good chance of winning because they make deals with you that give you monopolies. However, be prepared to play a very long time. They will hardly ever land on your property, especially if there is a house on your property. The game feels very rigged.
Playing computer is too easy. 1/5
By Ksp lover
Even in hard version, the computer allows unfair trades and it is way too easy to win.
Still cheating 3/5
As of January 1, 2017, the game is still cheating on the hard difficulty; The (single) reviewer who says this is not true is either delusional, a shill for Electronic Arts, or both.
Oh - there's another possibility: maybe that reviewer hasn't noticed that the game resets all its settings to the factory defaults after every single game you play, so that every time you want to play a game on the hard difficulty, you have to manually set it to hard, or else you'll play on medium without noticing it. ☹️
Anyway, the game absolutely does still load the dice on the hard setting; if you don't believe it, there's a simple test you can run yourself: play a few games on the hard setting (remember to manually reset it to hard after every single game! 😣) against all three AI players and simply see how many streets you own - that is, properties you can put buildings on - at the end of your first full circuit of the board, as against how many the computer players own. In one game, when I reached Go for the first time, the computer players had 13 streets between them; that's an average of 4.333 properties apiece – while I owned the Electric Company. In another, I had five properties when I reached Go: all four railroads and – you guessed it – the Electric Company. That's not so bad all things considered, but I still made it all the way around the board without landing on a single buildable property that was not already owned by one of the AI players. And in the last game I started, when I reached Go, each of the AI players had three buildable properties, while I had zero properties of any kind. You simply will not see this kind of pattern, game after game, when playing with real dice. 👎🏻
selecting the highest difficulty level doesn't rely only on making the computer players more shrewd, but rather loads the dice to ensure that the human player's developed properties are almost never landed on by the computer, no matter how statistically improbable that would be were it left to chance. I've tried it over and over to make sure, and it's true: even when I own all the properties along one side of the board and there are three computer players, those six developed properties - the majority of the spaces on that side of the board - are missed by every computer player on pass after pass in favor of the three non-purchasable spaces. this, to my mind, constitutes cheating on the part of the computer players (i.e., the developers). making the computer players smarter is one thing - that's what i expect from a higher difficulty setting - but doing away with the random factor and letting the computer choose die rolls that serve its purposes is another, entirely unacceptable thing. the Here And Now version doesn't resort to such cheating (or if it does, it's subtle enough about it that i can't tell it's happening, and I do still stand a chance of winning); why should this version be allowed to get away with it?
trash for multiplayer 1/5
Rigged die 1/5
I've had this game for a very long time and have NEVER won once. I only play it once in a while though, but when I do I regret it; hoping that maybe they fixed the AI rolls and complete avoidance of my properties and jail. It's like the 12 yr old me playing against my ruthless dad. It's just a game but I want it to be fun...
By J'adore's mom
Slow play, you can't roll the dice,I've played a better version by Entertainment Arts
By JMS 15
This game used to be fun, but they developers RIGGED the game so the die favors the AI
Even more aggravating as the real thing!!! 5/5
If you like loosing at monopoly in real life, this virtual experience delivers, and then some!
Great game 4/5
Great game worth the 99cent just be amazing if add Facebook link to battle friends 💯
Screen goes Blank 1/5
When I go onto the App it shows me the first picture that say monopoly and then my screen just goes blank It wasted my Money
This was honestly not like the actual game of Monopoly. It was very confusing and was very fake. I would not recommend this game to anybody else.
Terrible game 1/5
Game looks like it was made before the iPhone. Camera moves with the pieces and you can only fast forward not skip. Trading layout is bad. Dice rolls are clearly rigged. Overall bad game. Wouldn't buy again.
Don't waste your time 1/5
The AI is so heavily rigged it made the game impossible to enjoy.
Rigged "difficulty" levels 2/5
By Alice Anthony
The game is fun, visuals are good. But when playing on highest difficulty level the game very blatantly cheats by giving the AI "players" so many advantages in terms of dice rolls and many other things. To me, difficulty should not mean having the deck stacked against you. I want my money back. Shame on you EA.
Does AI Cheat? Dice Not Random? 2/5
It is amazing how as soon as I build houses on a monopoly, the AI will magically pass over those three spaces 7 turns in a row . . . And I will get pegged with income tax, house bills and all sorts of bad luck! I have no proof but the AI sure seems to bend the odds in its favor.
Game is too easy 3/5
I play on the hardest difficulty and the AI is terrible. Trading with them is way too easy and they seemingly only care about property "value" and disregard trading to allow a monopoly, etc. What's worse is that they don't make many smart moves even amongst each other. If I play on the hardest difficulty I expect the AI to play the game with more strategy. Please make them this game harder by making the AI much better.
