Not worth it 1/5
The reviews are riddles with all the flaws and shortcomings of this app so I won’t beat a dead horse. Save your money.
Potential but misses on most marks!! 1/5
Like other users here, I was a Myfitnesspal user and wanted something more in depth. While setting everything up I thought I made the right choice until I started using the food tracker. Like everyone here, the barcode was good for me but barely worked for my Wife’s phone. As I tried to input serving size data, NONE of the information matched. The more I edited it the more the calculations were wrong. I tried putting in serving sizes like cups, ounces, etc. and it was like it didn’t know how to compute it. Then, I put it down after frustration, closed it out and tried again the following day with the exact same results and even worse, it wasn’t even saving to my food log. In short, waste of money and time. Myfitnesspal is free and better on all accounts.
Scanner issue 4/5
Would’ve given it 5 stars, butmacros aren’t always exact when scanned.
Not user friendly, doesn’t accurately track servings 1/5
By Gayle Ewer
I’ve used this app for only a few days, but am too frustrated to continue. It’s not user friendly (very confusing how to navigate through the app), but I can get past that. The final straw is the actual tracker. When scanning items to add to my tracker, I tried to change the serving sizes (1 gram of butter is minuscule) and it won’t adjust the fat, carbs and protein for the new serving size. I have no idea what I’m actually tracking and how I’ve ended the day. Wish I didn’t spend $3 on this app. Waste of money, especially compared to all of the free options.
Very good app, but not quite perfect (yet) 4/5
I love this app for many reasons. Tracking carbs and net carbs, tracking by mg and percent of calories, ability to quickly access frequently or recently used items, and the ability to add custom recipes are all great.
Things that could be improved - searching for food items is often frustrating. The list could really be expanded and the search should allow for more specific terms so you don’t have to search through so many. The barcode scanner is really hit or miss which can be frustrating. And finally, I’d like to be able to enter a whole recipe and then select a portion rather than having to figure out the portion proportions manually.
Not worth it 1/5
By Dj. Havik
I’m sorry but there are far better apps for free. Difficult to find foods by brand or even restaurants. You can go throw the items and you will see restaurant but when you search it’s not there.
Best macro tracking app 5/5
To the reviewers who complain about the food database this app probably isn’t for you. 90% of MyFitnessPal is user input (see not accurate) foods. I’ve always ended up creating my own custom foods anyway to ensure accuracy and with MM+ it’s a breeze. Also love how it shows you where you individual meal macros are as you are about to add a new food to that meal. It’s super basic, super simple, super effective. If you can’t find a food just google it and add it... it’s not the end of the world and in all likelyhood is more actuate than the saved foods in other apps anyway.
Helpful, wish there was more 2/5
This app is great, but I wish that it were easier when it comes to adding food items. The food library doesn’t seem as vast as some of the other apps out there, but honestly, if you aren’t lazy about it...just hand type everything.
Helps me stay on track
By Hooked in GA
Unlike other food tracking apps I've used, with this one it's not obvious how to add a food to a meal. How to navigate around the app is also not obvious. Not user friendly.
As some of the previous reviewers have mentioned, the barcode scanner is hit or miss. I have contacted customer service about this several times but have never gotten the issue resolved. When creating a recipe, and using the barcode scanner, you are unable to filter your results by serving size or brand. The same is also true when creating a recipe and searching for a single ingredient. I have also contacted customer support about this issue, but it has not been resolved and the response was simply that they are working on it. The food database is not comprehensive. I often have to manually enter ingredients or create items which is frustrating and takes a lot of time. As others have also mentioned I, too, feel like I should just switch back to myfitnesspal, but the things that I do you like about this app are that you can adjust your macros by the gram, have different macro goals for different days, or that it also includes more meal options and simply breakfast lunch or dinner. However now that I have gone back to consistently tracking my food after taking six months off and realizing that these issues have not been fixed I am definitely frustrated by the clunky features and the inability of the barcode to work consistently.
Difficult to navigate 2/5
It seems to be more difficult to navigate and find simple foods. Nothing ever shows up on the search bar for “verified” foods. There is very little consistency with macros on the same exact foods. For $3.00 I find it much easier and better to use my free MyFitnessPal app from the start.
Pretty Ridiculous for the Price 1/5
Seemed like the app I was seeking but upon actually downloading it, the functions are more basic than some of the free versions of this. It’s 3 dollars just to buy the app and then you need a subscription. It doesn’t show how your intake of nutrients matches up to the daily recommended values. Maybe it does when you pay more but I am not going to risk paying more for a crappy app.
Free Apps are better 1/5
By Ad Loather
Great app, but not as good as other free apps in the category.
Don’t buy 1/5
By keto dietter
As others have mentioned, the database of foods is small. It also doesn’t calculate net carbs, which makes it useless for me on the keto diet. Don’t buy.
So easy to use and complete breakdown by meal and for the day.
Needs a few improvements but Great! 4/5
I love this app and use it a lot. I like it better than My Fitness Pal because I can be more specific with grams of macros. I would like to see a search option within your food list so that you don’t have to scroll. Also if the amount of items that show in recent could be increased this app would be perfect!
Not impressed 1/5
Just downloaded this to use something other than myfitness pal. Two days of logging and it’s a pain. Seems very “buggy.” Keep having to shut it down and reopen, edits to custom foods do not save, and I’m finding I’m having to add 80% of the foods I’ve eaten in just 2 days.
I’m going back to MFP and will just deal with their less than desirable UI.
This app is garbage now, they ended their partnership with Avatar Nutrition and now I’m left holding the bag. You can longer input custom calorie goals to hit for the day without paying 10 dollars a month for their “coaching”. I’d like my money back, but that won’t happen. DO NOT PURCHASE
Best Macro App Period 4/5
I've tried them all and this is the best app for Macro tracking. If you lift, choose this app. It's better than MFP. Please add the ability to automatically track caffeine and water (not manual tracking but automatic based on foods entered).
Terrible glitchy user interface, tedious to enter foods, loaded with useless features that you can’t turn off.
If you’re going to charge at least make it work 1/5
I have no problem paying for an app, but this thing is so buggy it barely works. I want to add a recipe and have to do some finagling just to get it to add. I can’t go online to add it either since I’m not a “premium” subscriber. If I can’t add stuff via the app I’m not going to pay more to do it online.
Why should I pay more for something I already paid for. Ridiculous.
Keeps you accountable 4/5
It’s a great app for those who know that calories don’t matter as much as macros. It’s simple and easy to use. Food data base is not as large as MyFitnessPal however the more people use it and I use it the database is expanded and a lot more accurate than MyFitnessPal.
The new feature that was added a few weeks ago called Macro Coach is absolutely incredible! The feature consists on setting a goal, adding your current info and every week do a “check in” which will cause adjustments to be automatically done to keep moving forward to your goal. The more I use it, the more effectively it works.
The only thing I wish is that the pace calculated by Macro Coach was according to fat mass instead of body weight. The reason is that the last few weeks I have been losing fat mass at an impressive pace BUT haven’t lost weight. If the pace is calculated just by body weight then the app will keep reducing my macros and calories regardless of making a lot of process in fat loss.
Waste of $$$$ 1/5
By Burger addict
Other than being able to customize macros this app is not worth paying for. 98% of the foods I scan with barcode aren’t recognized and I have to manually enter. And not real impressed with the search function either.
Doesn’t seem like the designers keep up with this app.
Please opt for a free app before spending money on this one.
Good app 4/5
It’s a good app I just wish it had a bigger data base and some of the things I scan don’t come out right
Best ever! 5/5
I've been using this app for about 2 years and I can't say enough good things about it. I've compared it to other apps that people have told me to use and I just find it to be easier and more user friendly!
Used with avatar nutrition synch. 5/5
A small bit of a learning curve after moving from MFP. But it's so convenient to use especially when it adjusts macros for heavy training days, and light training days through the avatarnutrition.com site. Progress has finally been made, and now I'm on my way to breaking through that year long wall I've been running in to. Highly recommend. The food data base could be a little more broad. But I find it to be more reliable than MFP.
Absolutely aweful 1/5
Don’t waste your money. You end up having to spend more in the end because of “subscriptions”. Get MyFitnessPal or something that is actually useful
Super Buggy and search is useless 5/5
I literally can’t find anything I type in, even with global search turned on. I have to scan everything if I need to add it and sometimes I don’t always have the product. App has a ton of bugs, coincidently also while searching. First item is hidden by Serving Size and Brand filters, once an item is selected it’s pretty much frozen till you hit the back button. Cannot multi select when searching for items.
Love it 5/5
Literally perfect for tracking my macros. Downfall is they don't have a huge food database like MfP but it's easy enough to google or scan a barcode and enter it in the system. I’ve been using this app for about four years and it is always consistent and easy to use regardless of what features are added. Super easy to navigate as well!
Search function 1/5
By yoga man
So much of this works well but the search function is not workable compared to other apps. I have to google the item in question for nutritional numbers and manually input into Macros.
Not worth the money 1/5
I purchased the app about a year and a half ago, previously being a MyFitnessPal user. The app had a lot of promise seeing as you could use as many meals as you want and set customizable goals. But with the promise of updating a larger consumer database the developers have seriously neglected their customers. I’ve been waiting for months on end for the database to become better and nothing while myfitnesspal has moved past the three strict meals. I strongly regret my purchase and would switch back over to myfitnesspal if I didn’t already log my weights for the past year in this program. It’s been a huge pain to manually enter all my food. An app is suppose to make your life easier, logging food on myfitnesspal with their database takes less then two minutes. While having to manually enter and create a new food item on macros+ can take 5-10 minutes. I find myself using myfitnesspal’s database to create foods on this app, I’ll probably switch back over soon and just bite my ego and take the loss on the purchase and just relog my info when I have the time. If your stuck between the two apps stick with myfitnesspal, this app has been a headache and a half as regular tracker.
Great app but needs some work 4/5
By Kapan crunch
The food registary is not the greatest but you can add the foods you eat on a normal basis. MFP has a better food registary but overpriced. It does sync up with avatar nutrition but if you choose high/low days, it does not sync. You have to manually put it in for those days. A little tedious; I’ve made them aware of this several times. For the price and purpose, it’s a great app. If the could fix those 2 things, it would smash MFP.
Intuitive app to use 3/5
This app does a great job of letting you add and customize your food. I would however LOVE IT if the developers also let you track Potassium micronutrient intake from food and not just simply Sodium. Please, please, please add this in the next update 🙏🏽.
Returning user 4/5
Much has improved since I last used this app a couple years ago. Excellent improvements!
Only one feature I hoped for then still hasn't happened or I would give five stars. It would be very helpful to be able to change the unit of measure on a scanned item that would adjust the macros accordingly. For example, when it scans as 1 ml I have to change to oz & factor up all the macros so I can re-use as a favorite.
Thanks for the continued support of this app!
Best App 5/5
I have tried every type of app like this. I found this to be the best one for me. It works for me. Wish I would have come across it earlier.
Save Your Money 1/5
I feel like it’s just a fancier version of My Fitness Pal, and all the “perks” of the app you want to use cost more money... I can use cronometer for free to do exactly what this app does. Save your money, it’s really not worth the $3.
Not worth the money. 2/5
I have been using MyFitnessPal for years, but wanted something with more customization. I love that this app allows me to set different macro goals for different days, and has more than just the typical three meal set up.
However, the food database is seriously lacking. It’s incredibly difficult to find simple foods, and I’ve ended up adding almost everything so far as a custom food. Lucky for me I eat essentially the same thing every day, so after adding a food I can easily add it from the recent list. But it’s still a hassle initially.
Also, the barcode feature is hit or miss. There have been several times that the product couldn’t be found, had info completely different from the box, or brought up something similar but not exactly what I was looking for. Which, again, leads to me going through the process of adding a custom food.
I will continue to use this app for the simple reason that I paid money for it, but I’m really tempted to just switch back to MyFitnessPal. I wish there was a free trial because I absolutely would not have wasted my money had I known about these issues. At this point I would not recommend it to anyone.
Used for a year and still an empty database 4/5
By Loyal Customer for YEARS
Ok, I can see the database being empty when first created but this has been established for at least two years yet still an inefficient database. I still have to have MFP on my phone simply to search items not in My Macros. Not really something expected from an app you pay for
Good stuff. Worth the price. I like that it shows the macros of each food. Searching is pretty terrible though.
Has mad potential 4/5
It’s good I always use it but they need to step up the barcode scans and their database as a whole other than that it’s great
Super disappointed that It crashes every time I go to register for Macro Coach. Waould like my $2.99 back or a fix really soon.
This app has potential. If it integrated better with Apple Watch for the workouts and logging was easier it would be the perfect app.
Easy tracking and link with Avatar Nutrition 5/5
SO MUCH POTENTIAL!! 3/5
By J Guapp
Overall, a great app. Although the bar code scanner hasn’t worked for me once. I’ve tried fiddling with it for a while before I made my review but nothing still seems to work. Would be great if this could get a solid update with better and working features!
Love this app 5/5
My girlfriend and I love this app, and has helped us cut 20 lbs so far (1 lb a week). I started paying the $2 a month premium not because I need it (half a year without it) but because I felt like it's done more for us than what what we paid for.
Note however that the macro calculator is a good start, however expect to adjust. I have it set to lose 2.5lbs a week but I'm only losing 1 (which is what I want).
Overall it's awesome and I've recommended it to friends already. Thanks developers!
Love the app! 5/5
The barcode scanner is so convenient, and any foods not in the system already can be quickly and easily added and saved. I've used this app every day since downloading.
Best tracking app 5/5
Dropped 20 pounds, put back on muscle weight. This app helps me regulate my foods to hit my fitness goals!
Love the App But... 3/5
I would love to give this app five stars. It is much easier to use than MyFitnessPal in my opinion, the database is amazing and pretty large and it's straight to the point( All I want to track is Macros and Calories. That's IT!!) My only issue is the calculation of calories and macros. It is extremely off. I spent almost and hour trying to figure out why my macros for lunch wasn't adding up to the calorie amount displayed. This leaves me conflicted. I love the app BUT it isn't reliable. I would love some support and help with this.
And yes I made sure the nutritional information was correct for each food entry. The Calculations were still off. Ughhh!
Great app 5/5
I love this app! The food database isn't as extensive as myfitnesspal (you can add new food easily in this app anyway), but the levels of customization make this a must for any macro-tracker. The recipe feature is amazing too!
