Company I work for requires us to use National. I have no complaints really as far as cars etc. However, the app worked one week & now is complete junk. Never shows my reservations. I noticed that my info was missing, so I tried to update & I get message "something went wrong, try again later". Right, I'll try to reload app & if it doesn't work I'll trash it.

Too many clicks to do something hat should be, as with other apps, simple. Is it the options? Those are great. But can you minimize it all for the quick rental experience. Want a car? Yes. Ok. We know you at emerald, let’s go. We can talk options when you get there or later when you update.
National Services 3/5
I have been with National Car rental over 20 years. Even getting to the top level I still don't feel National as a company care about me as a loyal customer. First of all cars are not very clean and when I complaint no one returns the call or send email as promised. You would think for a loyal customer get to the top level National would guarantee there always a car for their loyal customer instead that is not the case. They actually turn me away.
As for the apps it depends on the time of the day you reserve your car the price changed so fast. Many times the apps gets hang up it wouldn't work right I called in National representative actually gave me a price is much higher. I told them I have the record trying to reserve the car at a cheaper rate and they wouldn't honor it even though it is their faults with their computer glitches.
There are a few times I get to the airport trying to pickup the cars that I like the manager would not allow me to do so because it is not convenience for them to move the car that was blocking the one I wanted. And usually they have pretty bad attitude toward me for asking.
Again I can't see National as a company in the end it is all about money and not customer service. These are the same companies that when they are going through hardship they would cry to the governments and customers asking for help. It is such a shame.

Consistently "can't connect to network please try again" for literally days or weeks at a time. Randomly will work for travel but rarely. When it does, it's great- just super super rare

All their staff, from manager Matt, to employees Chantel, Jana, Harold, Justin, and the rest of their group have been so good to work with. Whenever I encountered a problem or needed help, they've been quick to act and provide the proper response.
You will find there is a considerable difference between this organization and the rest. Rented from the other large organizations with varied experiences - mainly fair to terrible. Car cleanliness, quality of the vehicles, & the people servicing the front counters.
I come for 4 1/2 months of each year; renting weekly, and can attest from personal experience that National is best.
Outrageous price hike after rental. 1/5
I've never been more disappointed in an agency, as I am now with this one. You've lost me as a customer. I rented a midsize car, returned it on time, and was charged over $200 than what I reserved it for. Absolutely ridiculous.
This app works great! I can always count on it to book my rental cars.

I'm a long-time user of the national app as well as an executive elite, and I used to love this app. but recently a few changes make it annoying to use.
Every time the app updates it erases my credentials so I have to put my username and password in again, even with the "remember me" option checked (every other travel app I use for hotels and airlines don't seem to have this problem)- it might seem petty but as a frequent traveler it's annoying to have to go back to my laptop, write down the username and password, and enter it again every update.
The second and most recent "problem" is now at the top of the app there is what appears to be a self promoting banner ad advising the minimum car you need to use emerald island (in my opinion it cheapens the app, feels like a money grab and just an opportunity to upsell)

This App is difficult to use. When entering your company code it doesn't pull in your contract info. Have had many issues with on company rep trying to correct and hasn't in two years.

After I selected the original vehicle on the Aisle, I was told that I could not rent it because it was wholesale. I felt that I should have been upgraded to a vehicle on the executive
Aisle, as I have so many times since no other SUV's were available. The agent said I could get any of those vehicles, except one of the Cadillac SUV's. I waited over an hour to finally get a Ford Edge. As long as I have been an Emerald Club member, which is about 20 or more years, I've never experienced such poor customer service. If the Jeep Cherokee was wholesale, it should have never been on the aisle.

Have made sure I'm using the most current and have restarted phone. Keeps crashing upon launch. I have tried using from multiple iPhones and still no luck.

I give the Apple 4 out of 5 stars. It is handy and useful to have around but I feel it is still a bit clunky and could use some streamlining to make it more intuitive and user-friendly.

App gets about 3/4 into the launch process and fails. App is open in background but won't complete. Tried reloading, restarting my iPad, deleting and downloading again. Nothing works. Like the company, hate the app.
Need Touch ID 2/5
In general, I like the app. But it is the only travel app I have that logged me out and forces me to re-login on a consistent basis. Every other travel app I have for hotel and airline either launch is me directly into my app or at least has Touch ID. With National I have to continually put in my login information which I usually can't remember and have to look up. It's a pain in the butt.

DONT DO IT!!!! This company is awful!! Terrible customer service and just bad business practices. I reserved a rental for a sub-compact in Puebla Mexico, upon my arrival they told me they "didn't have the vehicle which I had reserved" so they gave me a larger vehicle that ran off premium gas which having to drive to Mexico City was not fun! I wanted a smaller vehicle to use in all the traffic, but whatever. So 3 day into my rental the brakes started making a terrible grinding noise, because it had no pads left! Had to drive back to switch it for a new one, and they still couldn't give me my sub-compact! They gave me no discount for the hassle and there customer service in Mexico was AWFUL!! Altogether a bad experience and I will NEVER use them again, along with all of my family and friends!!

I picked up a car at San Diego airport last night. Your website says someone will meet/assist -- the only person I could find said "pick any car in these two rows except the two at the front". Of course the two in the front were the only good vehicles

Rewards Program 3/5
I enjoy your rewards program. The problem that I see as a member that rents 40 weeks and over 200 days a year is when I go to use my rewards I'm penalized. What I mean by that is I have to pay a ridiculous amount in an upgrade charge when using my rewards.
Like most reward members I use my rewards for family vacations and family weekend getaways. That being said we need a larger vehicle and the charges at a counter service dealer are ridiculous.
I and many others feel you should put a free upgrade in place for reward rentals. Especially for your executive elite members.
Feedback on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
You need to provide an easy to find link that maps to the devise map so you can easily find your way back to the rental location. If this function exists i can not find it. Marriott provides me a button to push that states directions to the location

I keep the stay signed in button enabled but yet EVERY time I go to use the app, I have to re-login. Super annoying!! Also, can't figure out how to cancel a reservation through the app if needed. Really, I can't do that?! Grrrrr!!!!!

I love National! I rent 30 times a year for business and National never lets me down. I recently arrived in San Diego and needed a pick up truck and the only available vehicles were small sedans. I asked a random associate in the garage if he had a small pick up truck and he said hold on...3 minutes later he drove up in a brand new F150. World Class Service at its finest.
It would be nice if we could get instant receipts (Pdf) and agreements on the app.

Rental Problems 2/5
I rated a 2 out of 5 because as of today, I am being told that my vehicle is overdue. This is the second time in a row this has happened and is an inconvenience when I am having to go to the airport to redo my rental contract. When I go to the airport, I am told that they do show that my rental agreement has me renting until 26 sept (Long Term Rental). Not sure how I can get this resolved. Thanks.
