The new version is absolutely awful. 1/5
The new version is awful. It’s much more complicated, and you can’t just instantly view messages from anyone like you could before. You can only see messages from people who’s profiles you have previously liked. Not a fan at all.
Reply to developer: It’s probably reduced abusive messages because so many less messages are being sent and there are now less users because of this. While they may still have an account, I doubt that as many people are actually using the site like they were before (and the newest reviews would suggest the same). Same in my situation. I haven’t really used it since this change took place.
Not what it used to be 2/5
I agree with many of the reviews here! I’ve been using OkCupid for years, and regarded it as the best dating site. It allowed you to get to know more about the people you were chatting with. I answered probably close to a thousand questions over the years. Last year things went downhill and it’s no different from Tinder now. It’s been impossible for me to be matched or even see more guys in my area. I guess this forces more people to join A-list. Very disappointed in the changes and eventually took a break from this app. Not sure if I’ll want to use OkCupid regularly in 2018.
Why would you take away they option to delete messages ? I shouldn’t have to block someone to get rid of their messages. Who are you to be able to control that ? Then when I block them I can still see their messages.
A once-great site/app, ruined as of 2018 1/5
I used to absolutely love OkCupid. I would have tons of memorable conversations and dates, and even ended up in a few relationships.
Unfortunately, as of an update at the end of 2017, the entire service has been changed DRASTICALLY for the worse. It's now almost impossible to get people to actually see your messages. I went from having maybe a 50% response rate to a near-0% one. You can no longer impress people with interesting messages; instead, you now just totally blend into the crowd.
You might get lucky and hit it off with someone now, but your odds are worse than Tinder; go use that instead. I used to greatly prefer OKC because you could find people who were similar to you. Now, you can still SEE those people, but the journey ends there. It's now almost impossible to actually have a conversation with them; my inbox is basically empty at this point.
It's sad, but I guess all good things come to an end. OkCupid effectively came to an end in December 2017. Now, it's just a hollow shell of a site that used to be great at helping you connect with people.
I hope the developers read this 1/5

So this app was great back 2 years ago now it’s just like tinder but the only difference is once you like someone you can message them. And you have to like someone back just to see what there message was. I would never recommend this app to anyone who’s looking to date, this just wastes your time and money, if you want to see who likes you, you have to guess who it was or you have to pay to buy it. I’ll be deleting this app in the beginning of March, this app was way better 2 years ago then what it is now, bad app very bad app
Best value 5/5
They share real statistics which is cool.. and ask you questions like “before you send this message, would you say this in real life?” Which hopefully stops the corny pick up lines 😆 you also get a lot of free capabilities, which is nice.
Used to be great. Now trying to be Tinder. 1/5
OK Cupid used to be great. The questions you could answer and the match percentages based on those questions made it different. And better. Now you cannot see messages from anyone you have not “liked”. And you cannot see who has liked you. If I want to spend time randomly swiping I will (and do) use Tinder. I used OK Cupid for meeting people who had REAL potential. When I can’t read my messages and decide for myself whether the match is worthwhile without putting in swiping time, it is time to move on from what was once a great relationship.
Good app 5/5
Bogus Journey 2/5
When you delete unwanted matches, they most likely will be there again when you reopen the app. If you are a straight man you will be matched with other straight men lol uh which is pretty crappy. Now messages you write will not be read until the person "likes" you which everyone, including the people you message complain about because those messages get buried. Super bogus.
Almost there 4/5
By Dennis says:
I have enjoyed my adventure into the land of ok Cupid overall. Two things: 1 allow first timers to at least be able to send one message regardless. 2 that questionnaire was BRUTAL! At least have some kind of sliding bar or number system so that a person can see just how close they are to being done! Thanks once again, Dennis.
Update and new format a bit vague. 2/5
By Being Dali
Just reinstalled the app. I’ve learned or quite don’t understand the new messaging (and notifications) format. Ok. It right there near the star that you/ I have 25 members whom like me. So if that’s the case why can’t they send message to me? and if they did why can’t I see it? Am I to assume they are just swiping and not typing an actual message? Also why do the like you counter fluctuate. I don’t mind upgrading it I need to know what I’m paying for and if it’s beneficial before I commit to pay. As of now. I’m lost... kinda
It's okay, but... 1/5
Tooooo many commercial interuptions🤦🏾♀️ I just realized that the visitor page is missing...no sense having the app anymore...BYE OKCUPID!✌️
It’s a dating website. 5/5
What do you expect? It is exactly as advertised.
By She'll belle
Ok Cupid is better than other free sites I’ve been on.. Disappointed in the change of that I can not delete a conversation or messages. Prior to changes you could clean out your message box. The only way to get them out is to block the person.
It’s ok 2/5
Everything about it works well until you get liked by someone... you have to pay to literally talk to someone. Just make it all free. Not everything but talking to someone. Not that satisfied 😶
I wish they had not changed the app so that people could not see messages from each other without liking each other first.
Was good app in the past 1/5
This app was easy and could yield positive results in the past. The current version however is difficult to use and not conductive to trying to find a date. I hadn’t touched this app for a few years and was expecting the same, easy to use app that I had before. It’s current form feels like a clunky version of tinder or bumble. Maybe we can call it OkTinder?
Still can’t reset my password. 1/5
So I forgot my password and I’ve done the reset where they send you instructions to reset your password to your email. But I’ve never received an email. Been trying for about 2 weeks now to reset and got nothing. Please fix this already!!!!!!!!!
Easy to use 4/5
It’s the best app as far as looks and ease of use. Sad they got rid of the search option for specific usernames, but I do like the new feature where it only shows messages from mutual likes.
My account suspended 1/5
My account was suspended for reasons unknown to me. It simply states that I violated terms. As a woman I have no idea what I could have done. No way to contact for help, no way for me to get into my account without contacting them. This is... just Dumb...
OK!! Cupid 5/5
I like how simple and fun it is to use! Even if you don’t buy all the features you can still find yourself a wonderful time
Lots of great people on here, and the app itself is just a breeze to use
Goodbye dating 1/5
By franco alva
This app used to be one of the best if not the best for texting new interesting people, get to know them and making friends all around the world. Now it’s just like tinder if the other person doesn’t give a like back, he or she won’t receive your message as I said just like tinder
Now it’s not a good app for dating anymore.
Now I have to change dating app
Hopefully some day this app will be as cool as it was
Better than Tinder 4/5
I just wish that you didnt have to shake your phone to undo swipes. I’m sure there are other minor things worth changing but thats really all that comes to mind right now
Used to be good, try something else 1/5
The change to the message system, although address message abuse, chills positive users ability to connect. This chilling effect is detrimental to the process. OKC is not going to change their approach until they lose their user base, but by the time they try to amend their error their app will be forgotten to the next big thing or they will have to pay obscene sums of money for advertising.
Newest update has extremely invasive ads 1/5
OKCupid has always had a good app but the newest update forces the worst type of mobile ads imaginable on you, those full screen ones for weird mobile games that make you click a tiny "x" to close, usually resulting in you missing it and being brought to the App Store.
Very very frustrating. Tinder has ads that are built into the swiping mechanism and much less intrusive, going to use that exclusively until OKCupid updates their gross and outdated ads.
No thumbs up 1/5
I’m over the limitation OkCupid has set in place. I used to have tons of connections, I was able to message/date freely, and now I’m struggling to even get someone to message me through this app. I have an easier time trying to get on the highway during rush hour traffic. I paid for A-list and it DID NOT help. I can’t message anyone without “liking” their profile, which is SO ANNOYING. All I get are “likes” and nobody messages me. I message them and it’s silence. I used to get profile visits when I would go to someone else’s profile, and that’s where I’d make my most contact with other people. I use OKC because I work a lot and don’t have time to go out and date like I’d like to. OKC has turned into a chore. This app is awful now and I do not understand how the rating is so high. I do not care about their research. I do not care what they think has improved. All of their excuses are biased. OKC has made dating online much harder. They just want money from their users.
Much to be desired 1/5
It was already irritating that okc is trying to become like other dating apps by, changing one feature at a time. But it’s also super buggy. I can’t seem to delete messages or users I no longer want to talk to, and I never get notifications. Thinking of deleting the app and just being done with it.
It gets the job done 5/5
Honestly it’s a simple app that it’s a simple slide platform..it’s not very different from anything else on the market you can’t add videos you don’t have a story...not saying that’s bad just saying the app is pretty forward and it’s a what you see is what you get Interface
Better than tinder
By Fix it Jesus
Thanks OkCupid for the changes. I get absolutely no messages now. As if they weren’t rare enough as it was. It feels like I’ll never get a date now. I can’t even chat with a friendly stranger unless we like each other. I hate this so much.
Terribly managed 1/5
By okc is terrible
Garbage app! Account gets suspended on a near daily basis for nothing.
So I have to contact support through a super generic message on their site where you get no response and just need to hope they will see it and do something...just so their bad auto systems can flag me again
Do not recommend
Not worth it 1/5
I used to like the app and I have had an account for a while but recently it was suspended due to a violation of terms. They said to contact them if it is an error but honestly it’s not worth it. I know I haven’t done anything on the site inappropriately and all my information is mine so I will just leave it.
I don’t like the new way of receiving messages
ok this app is fine for the most part. however, when i swipe left. that means not interested. so.......why i am i still swiping left on messages/people from december? once i swipe left, that person shouldn’t show up in my doubletake anymore. also, the app was better when u just let us see the messages instead of running into the message on doubletake. i honestly don’t see the difference or how that was an improvement? personally, i’d rather just see the message sitting there than be surprised by it. as long as we still have the ability to swipe left after receiving the message then...... ugh just change it back 🙄
Let us see who’s checking us out 4/5
Having to pay to see who liked us is one thing seeing who’s view our profile is something that can really set this app apart
Great app!!! 5/5
Easy to use! Comfortable!
Was too quick to judge. 4/5
New update is Trash! 1/5
Throw the whole OKC away . I deleted my acct. a while ago &’ come back to a huge change that was NOT needed. You can no longer see who viewed your page &’ guess what ?? You can’t see your messages UNLESS you “match” with someone .. DUMB right ? So I have to swipe through TONS of profiles just to see who messaged me . If I wanted this I would have kept my Tinder !! This site is Trash &’ I hope a lot of people delete their account until they change it back ! If you’re stupid enough to pay a dime for this site for an upgrade you are crazy ! I’m going back to POF .
OK Cupid review is an honest Fair at best 1/5
The app has a lot of lag to it. The people on it seem to be very far away. Hasn't been a great experience.
Fun Journey 5/5
Interesting people good times. Bad times. Ugly times...😅
My experience with the little man and the arrow. 5/5
By Charlie James Happieee Lifeee
I have been doing this online dating thing for 10 years I have had quite a few successful dates had a couple of duds. Some of my relationships have lasted 3 to 4 years. Some lasted over a cuppa coffee and it was over. But the key thing is OK Cupid gives me the opportunity to get a real good read on the person I'm going to date. There are times that I can tell it's Going to work or this is not going to work. For the most part it beats the hell of going to bars.
Keep up the good work!
Hey, not bad! 5/5
As far as dating apps go, this is pretty great. Very little pressure, easy to actually talk to people, lots of people using it, and you don't even HAVE to pay anything. If you're struggling to find someone, I highly recommend OkCupid. I recently moved to a new area where I know no one, and I hadn't been on a date in over 2 years. Just a few weeks in and I've already talked to several people, a couple of them pretty seriously. If it worked for me, it'll work for you.
Totally useless 1/5
I was a paying subscriber at one point. I have to say, the app and the site now have become completely useless. It’s a full on “swipe app” now which I find tedious, superficial, and just not effective. I get a couple of matches a week, but I don’t bother because I know that my matches have tons of matches themselves and all this match represents is like half a second of thought between the two of us. You can no longer see someone you really like and write them a thoughtful message— because in order to see that message they have to swipe you. If you’re doing 100 swipes a minute or thereabouts, which I feel is probably about typical, I don’t really like those odds. I’m not going to waste my time. They claim abusive messages are down 70% — do they measure meaningful messages? I’m guessing they’re down 95%. Also, as if we’re not lambasted already with politics— okc has taken a proactive stance on many social issues — some of which weren’t even issues — flipping the script on DTF?? What are you even talking about?? Major first world problems if you’re crusading about the unfairness of a flipping acronym. Somebody decided Okcupid had a social obligation to make everyone aware of whatever is important to the echo chamber inside the Okcupid office. That’s just bad business and it’s irritating. What if your favorite pizza delivery place decided to become political and started putting pro Trump slogans all over the website and delivery box? The vast majority of people just want to go about their lives and they are fatigued with this type of BS.
Two years ago, I would have given the app 5 stars. Now I’d give it 0 stars if I could. I cannot use this train wreck any more.
New FORCED Ads are DISGUSTING 2/5
This new sudden pop-up-ad when you send a message is awful and the ads aren’t targeted at all...
You should think about linking the questions answered with your ad preferences like, if someone is a “healthy” eater, don’t show them MacDonalds commercials, or if they are vegan/vegetarian don’t show them that either.
Get it together!
And finally, I want a body type preference, swipping through all these people who I would never match is a waste of time when I could just click a button about body type.
Most of these men are Liars and just want sex.. why do I know? Because they ask for it but don’t want to ask for a simple date..
Pay to see who likes me? 1/5
I’m really sick of the schemes. Ads aren’t enough, we have to pay to see who likes us! Lol! It’s absurd!
Constantly improving 5/5
This app seems focusing on improving and really getting people together. High marks in my book.
By Lucifer's Repo
I’ve been using the app for years. But for the past year, I can’t even tell when I get a message or anything of the sort because it makes absolutely no sound. Yes, my sound is on. Yes notifications are all turned on. What gives??
Great communication 5/5
Actually Nice people to talk and mingle with!
