Serial Reader app reviews

  • Excellent app 5/5

    By Jont189
Really love the concept of this app, as well as the implementation. The design is clean and intuitive, and it’s got me back in a habit of reading everyday. It’s hard to sit down and pick up a book with all of life, but this simplifies and initiates that time for me each morning.
  • Enjoyed 4/5

    By ipod geek
I have enjoyed using Serial Reader for the past few weeks and I ended up purchasing the extra features. Two things I'd love to see addressed; the sync, while it works, is a little off. I complete a serial on my phone and sync. I pick up the iPad and tap sync, and it still shows the serial not completed. I would assume it would state I was done with that one for the day. I would also like to see some marking, a badge or similar on finished books, maybe I'm just getting old but I've read 12 books already and I'm forgetting which ones they were when browsing something new to read. I can just see this getting worse. I'd still like to see the detail for the summary and other similar books, so I wouldn't want them hidden. Update: I just opened this up today from an extended beak and the books I’ve read now have a check mark on them, awesome. I’ll have to check out the sync and if that’s better it will be worth a star bump! Thanks!!
  • Great Fun! 5/5

I look forward to it each day. Thanks for the terrific app!
  • Excellent motivation 4/5

    By JunkinLPC
I really enjoy waking up and having a bite sized piece of good literature to read each day. I also like that there is a meter to measure what kind of a streak I am on, which motivates me to keep it at 100 percent. There is a wide variety of books to choose from, and it helps me get through some of the more difficult reading, such as Dantes Inferno.
  • Easy way to read great books! 5/5

    By ErinE52381
I love this app so far!
  • Love this app! It keeps me reading daily 5/5

    By Megandyson
This is a fantastic app! After using it to read one book I bought the upgrade to paid version because it just simply is that good. I love how it sets the book out in blocks of time under 20 minutes For me to read each day. This is practical and easy for a busy mom like me. The books are free! Can’t get any better then that! I recommend this app to the reader who’s just too busy to read, once you have this app, you will find the time! Trust me!
  • Amazing! 5/5

Best purchase I’ve made in the App Store in a long time!
  • Genius 5/5

    By Lulu Bloodrose
Breaking down a story into bite sizes that I can read everyday has been encouraging! I’m reading the classics I’ve always wanted to read and I don’t feel it’s taking too much time out of my busy day. I do it during my lunch break or just a few minutes before bed. I hope more books get added or maybe let us recommend book lists.
  • Best Reading App 5/5

    By KarnivorousKreecher
This is the best app for reading I have ever found. Finally an app that can help me stock to my reading goals in a seriously fun manner. I love it.
  • What a great app! 5/5

    By Carnemuerte
I’ve only been using Serial Reader for a few days, but I’m hooked! The interface is clean and intuitive, as well as being easy to navigate. The accomplishment badges and words of encouragement are a tad bit cheesy, but they can be toggled off if you like. Overall though, this is a great way to read a book. I started with “The Count of Monte Cristo”, a classic that I’ve been wanting to read for quite some time now, but just haven’t found time to fit into my reading schedule. The notifications come each morning, (you can set them to your own personal preference), to remind me that the next installment of my novel is available. It’s typically a 10-15 minute portion that I can read with my morning coffee. The number of titles is somewhat limited to what, I assume, is in the public domain. But that still amounts to hundreds of the great classics! These books are available through other apps, but I really love the idea of serving it up in daily bite-size portions that don’t take up too much of my day but always leave me wanting more. Kudos to the developer for a great idea. I would certainly recommend this app!
  • A great 10 minuets a day 5/5

    By Kallmejon
I am much happier with myself when I spend 10 minuets reading A Room With a View than after 10 minuets trolling on Facebook.... honestly a worthwhile app.
  • Wonderful and Unique 5/5

    By Robfb7
This is an excellent app for readers. A wide range of classic literature is available at your fingertips - delivered in bite size chunks every day. I have always wondered what it would have been like to read Charles Dickens as it was originally released as a serial. With this app I can now do this. Additionally, there are several authors that would have never been on my radar had it not been for this app. The e-reader is fully featured with the ability to look up words, highlighting, changing font size and type, etc. You also earn uniquely named badges to encourage you in your reading. It is worth checking out! Now back to my current issue...
  • Fantastic 5/5

    By jkcanewton
    Loving every second of it!
  • Non stop notifications 2/5

    By FallenButCool
I usually love this app but today I started getting notifications literally every second! The "25 new Halloween stories" message kept on sending and wouldn't stop until I turned off notifications in my settings. Please fix this bc I like getting a reminder in the morning for my new chapters!
  • Notification! 1/5

    By rexgirl32
Serial Reader is currently sending me notification after notification. Literally one right after another. This is crazy and horrible!! Rendering the app and my whole tablet unusable. Will have to delete it.
  • Major malfunction 1/5

    By Pooperoodle
Can’t turn a page without having to readjust the font settings
  • Nice! 4/5

    By Petty_husbander
Great app! One of the best I've found. Only complaint is that the rewards for reading a certain number of words pop up randomly in the middle of reading, which breaks concentration. A little counterintuitive.
  • Favorite Reading 5/5

    By sidi 345
Great concept - App works without flaws. Perfect break for my busy days - just the right “ bite” of reading . Love it!.
  • Awesome 5/5

    By Chris Doherty
Awesome app! I concurrently read two books. One long one and a short quick one. The format allows me to read anywhere anytime. I might even take a shot at War and Peace again.
  • Amazing concept & execution 5/5

    By Bay_hiker
All the books you know you should have read by now, delivered in accessible, bite-sized chunks. It becomes a pleasant mission to keep up with each day's 10-15 minute section, which are delivered automatically at whatever time of day you choose. So far my experience has been that the books are sensibly and logically divided into sections almost as if that was the way they were intended to be read. I can't say enough about the work Michael has put into his continuing project. Use this app. The books are public domain and daily delivery is free. So pay the onetime $2.99 upgrade, which is the only support for the work he puts into it.
  • Nice! 5/5

    By Alianew
I've only had this app for about a week, and really like it. I'm able to read classics in shorter chucks...very doable. I love the reminders, badges and encouragement. I paid for the upgrade, which is a reasonable price, to be able to highlight, read ahead, etc.
  • My new favorite app 5/5

    By kellanlanlan
10/10 Serial Reader is my new favorite app. There's nothing I love more than having endless stories available (for FREE) in digestible bites which I can access any second of the day. This app makes reading in your spare time accessible and fun. Plus, the UI is gorgeous. Couldn't recommend it any more.
  • Great reading app 5/5

    By PapaJoe74
I enjoy looking forward to getting the next installment of the books that I am reading. Great idea and great app
  • New favorite app 5/5

    By RandomsParrot
I love reading, but 1- am broke, and 2- currently have no more space for new books. This app is perfect for people with either of those issues (or just people who want to read more classics!). I’ve only used it for a fairly short while, but have finished a handful of books I’d been meaning to read for a long time, and am working through five more. I actually just got the one-time-purchase upgrade, but only because I wanted to support the creator (though I will admit the “read later” aspect is pretty great). Oh! And my favorite part by far is that it links to your goodreads account, if you have one, and automatically updates your books-in-progress as you go. It’s so handy!
  • Great App Clean Design 5/5

    By James5011
This is a really neat app. I enjoy the excitement of getting more pages to read on a daily basis. It helps keep me disciplined to read consistently every day.
  • Awesome 5/5

Awesome app it really motivates me to read i hope that it will add books in other languages like arabic and french in the future
  • Chip away at some classics 5/5

    By Heithar
This is a great app that lets you chip away at some classics. It's a perfect way to get through the must reads by having a small manageable section delivered to you as you see fit. And then before you know it. You've finished several great reads!
  • Such a great idea! 5/5

    By GotCelloSkills
This has really helped motivate me to read some classics! It's super motivating to get through each issue.
  • Brilliant 5/5

I love this app! I love the titles to choose from and the options for fonts and background color. Very nice!
  • Super great!! 5/5

    By L.S.R.R
This is the first time I feel like writing a review, because this app is worth it!! No adds, no boundaries on what you can and cannot read, and it's all free!! You can change the font of the letters, the color of the page, and it has a great variety of books! I highly recommend this app!! :))
  • Really like it so far! 5/5

  • Makes finding time to read easy! 5/5

    By Nansense
I love that you can move ahead if you want (with purchase)...also like the daily notification. Great app!
  • Just excellent 5/5

    By Chess aficionado
Not as slick a layout as big-developer apps but such a great concept and the app works without a hitch. Highly recommend. (I do wish that for translated works (like the Russian literature) it said what version was used.)
  • I love that Goodreads is connected! 5/5

    By SES12345678
I just tried out the new connection between SerialReader and Goodreads, and it works perfectly! It's so convenient!
  • lovely little app for classic reading 5/5

    By suffisaunce
I don't normally write reviews, but this little app sends you classic literature a chapter at a time, big selection, and cute little reinforcements when you finish reading a section. Recommended for younger and older readers alike ❤️
  • Great but 5/5

    By mistermisetess
Its a great app and I already purchased the premium but i would be very happy if the book list would have been updated more frequently. And of course it would make me much more happier if i saw some of my requested books in there.
  • LOVE this app 5/5

    By LAK412
Great way to read the classics that seem overwhelming. Perfect for the commute to work when I take public transit.
  • Catching up on the classics 5/5

    By IndaMuddle
I have long wanted to catch up in reading more classic literature, but found it daunting, so what a lovely surprise to find this app! I paid for the extra features, mainly because I like to read with a different background and more serif type fonts (easier on the eye). The only knock I would give is the highlighting and notation function feels clunky and the developer could put together a FAQ on working with it. Also unclear is whether notes or highlighted passages can be downloaded/uploaded to, for example, Evernote. Again, I think for premium users a good FAQ on these features would be helpful.
  • So good! 5/5

    By Lemon kitty 9
I love this app! I'm reading a book I would never have attempted before and thoroughly enjoying it. Getting a small bit each day makes reading doable no matter how busy I am. Highly recommend.
  • Great app 5/5

    By TheTime545
This is the best way to read those long classics I've been pushing off for a while, and it's free!
  • Best. Ever. 5/5

    By Bookyworm7
I love this app! I'm so busy that having a little tiny section of a book to read each day is amazing! I did end up purchasing the premium, and it is so worth it!
  • Outstanding App! 5/5

    By Sfworswick
A great way to read the classics. I love this app. It is outstanding
  • Amazing app for book lovers 5/5

    By Tracylovesbooks
This is my absolutely favourite app, the only one I use, with dedication, every single day. It has enabled me to read, thus far, amazing lengthy masterpieces (War and Peace, Great Expectations and David Copperfield) among numerous shorter books. I can do it chapter by chapter when I am very busy with work and other life demands, or in more lengthy spells when traveling or commuting. I will use this app for the foreseeable future. Fantastic! I could not praise Serial Reader enough.
  • Serial Reader has changed my life! 5/5

    By HeatherBookNerd
I started reading on Serial Reader last year and finished Anna Karenina, which had been in my TBR pile for approximately 7,000 years. I kept avoiding starting it because it was such a doorstop. But I thought it seemed totally doable if I chipped away at it 10-15 minutes a day. And it was. After a few months, BOOM. I finished it. And loved it! So now I am just two weeks away from finishing The Counte of Monte Cristo, which is also awesome! I'm just going to keep a big old classic going all the time and my eternal TBR pile will diminish. I LOVE the encouragements when I finish an issue and seeing that percentage tick higher as I go. The daily reminder keeps me accountable. This has been such an amazing boost to my reading life. ❤️
  • Awesome Idea 5/5

    By Gretrascis
I've been meaning to read these older classics and this app is a great way to get started. Plus, reading cheevos are the best cheevos.
  • I am definitely grateful for this app 5/5

    By Mccree2333
It's been an amazing experience reading on serial reader, I would say. Though this platform could have far more books on it, it's been totally free for you to read a looot of books! I pay the in app purchase of $2.99 for a permanent unlock of all further functions at once, as a small encourage for the developers for this great app. BTW, I like the way the app shows the progress bar at the bottom while u read. It's brilliant.
  • Great app! 5/5

    By LuluBodhi
An excellent way to sneak reading in throughout the day. Very good selection of books!
  • Great app for book lovers 5/5

    By Lorfanelli
I have resisted electronic devices for reading because I love reading physical books. I love this app bc it makes my reading accessible. Instead of Facebook, I'll read another session which is time better spent. It has a ton of classic literature and sends it daily in bite size portions that make it easy to digest. My reading has significantly increased since purchasing this app and I always thought I was a slow reader. I highly recommend it!
  • Wonderful 5/5

    By Mbwakali
An easy way to read the classics. Like one of those seven minute workouts but it actually accomplishes something.
