    By Heithar
This is a great app that lets you chip away at some classics. It's a perfect way to get through the must reads by having a small manageable section delivered to you as you see fit. And then before you know it. You've finished several great reads!

This is the first time I feel like writing a review, because this app is worth it!! No adds, no boundaries on what you can and cannot read, and it's all free!! You can change the font of the letters, the color of the page, and it has a great variety of books! I highly recommend this app!! :))

  • Just excellent 5/5

    By Chess aficionado
Not as slick a layout as big-developer apps but such a great concept and the app works without a hitch. Highly recommend. (I do wish that for translated works (like the Russian literature) it said what version was used.)
  • I love that Goodreads is connected! 5/5

    By SES12345678
I just tried out the new connection between SerialReader and Goodreads, and it works perfectly! It's so convenient!
  • lovely little app for classic reading 5/5

    By suffisaunce
I don't normally write reviews, but this little app sends you classic literature a chapter at a time, big selection, and cute little reinforcements when you finish reading a section. Recommended for younger and older readers alike ❤️
  • Great but 5/5

    By mistermisetess
Its a great app and I already purchased the premium but i would be very happy if the book list would have been updated more frequently. And of course it would make me much more happier if i saw some of my requested books in there.
  • LOVE this app 5/5

    By LAK412
Great way to read the classics that seem overwhelming. Perfect for the commute to work when I take public transit.
  • Catching up on the classics 5/5

    By IndaMuddle
I have long wanted to catch up in reading more classic literature, but found it daunting, so what a lovely surprise to find this app! I paid for the extra features, mainly because I like to read with a different background and more serif type fonts (easier on the eye). The only knock I would give is the highlighting and notation function feels clunky and the developer could put together a FAQ on working with it. Also unclear is whether notes or highlighted passages can be downloaded/uploaded to, for example, Evernote. Again, I think for premium users a good FAQ on these features would be helpful.
  • So good! 5/5

I love this app! I'm reading a book I would never have attempted before and thoroughly enjoying it. Getting a small bit each day makes reading doable no matter how busy I am. Highly recommend.
  • Great app 5/5

This is the best way to read those long classics I've been pushing off for a while, and it's free!
  • Best. Ever. 5/5

    By Bookyworm7
I love this app! I'm so busy that having a little tiny section of a book to read each day is amazing! I did end up purchasing the premium, and it is so worth it!
  • Outstanding App! 5/5

A great way to read the classics. I love this app. It is outstanding
  • Enjoyed 4/5

    By ipod geek
I have enjoyed using Serial Reader for the past few weeks and I ended up purchasing the extra features. Two things I'd love to see addressed; the sync, while it works, is a little off. I complete a serial on my phone and sync. I pick up the iPad and tap sync, and it still shows the serial not completed. I would assume it would state I was done with that one for the day. I would also like to see some marking, a badge or similar on finished books, maybe I'm just getting old but I've read 12 books already and I'm forgetting which ones they were when browsing something new to read. I can just see this getting worse. I'd still like to see the detail for the summary and other similar books, so I wouldn't want them hidden.
  • Amazing app for book lovers 5/5

    By Tracylovesbooks
This is my absolutely favourite app, the only one I use, with dedication, every single day. It has enabled me to read, thus far, amazing lengthy masterpieces (War and Peace, Great Expectations and David Copperfield) among numerous shorter books. I can do it chapter by chapter when I am very busy with work and other life demands, or in more lengthy spells when traveling or commuting. I will use this app for the foreseeable future. Fantastic! I could not praise Serial Reader enough.
  • Serial Reader has changed my life! 5/5

    By HeatherBookNerd
I started reading on Serial Reader last year and finished Anna Karenina, which had been in my TBR pile for approximately 7,000 years. I kept avoiding starting it because it was such a doorstop. But I thought it seemed totally doable if I chipped away at it 10-15 minutes a day. And it was. After a few months, BOOM. I finished it. And loved it! So now I am just two weeks away from finishing The Counte of Monte Cristo, which is also awesome! I'm just going to keep a big old classic going all the time and my eternal TBR pile will diminish. I LOVE the encouragements when I finish an issue and seeing that percentage tick higher as I go. The daily reminder keeps me accountable. This has been such an amazing boost to my reading life. ❤️
  • Awesome Idea 5/5

    By Gretrascis
I've been meaning to read these older classics and this app is a great way to get started. Plus, reading cheevos are the best cheevos.
  • I am definitely grateful for this app 5/5

    By Mccree2333
It's been an amazing experience reading on serial reader, I would say. Though this platform could have far more books on it, it's been totally free for you to read a looot of books! I pay the in app purchase of $2.99 for a permanent unlock of all further functions at once, as a small encourage for the developers for this great app. BTW, I like the way the app shows the progress bar at the bottom while u read. It's brilliant.
  • Great app! 5/5

    By LuluBodhi
An excellent way to sneak reading in throughout the day. Very good selection of books!
  • Great app for book lovers 5/5

    By Lorfanelli
I have resisted electronic devices for reading because I love reading physical books. I love this app bc it makes my reading accessible. Instead of Facebook, I'll read another session which is time better spent. It has a ton of classic literature and sends it daily in bite size portions that make it easy to digest. My reading has significantly increased since purchasing this app and I always thought I was a slow reader. I highly recommend it!
  • Wonderful 5/5

    By Mbwakali
An easy way to read the classics. Like one of those seven minute workouts but it actually accomplishes something.
  • Great App! 5/5

    By dobrowsegiii
Love this app! Very well done and is a great way to get in the habit of reading daily without having it overwhelm you! Don't let the fact that the books are older turn you off, they're really good reads!!
  • Finally reading the classics 5/5

    By AngM123
I love this app! I have a long list of classics that I have wanted to read for so long, and this app makes it super easy. I have my daily issue delivered to my phone each morning while I drink my coffee. It has become a great start to my day. I also find myself reading more often throughout the day. The short 10-15 minute issues are perfect for reading when I need a quick break.
  • Great app 5/5

    By DJB9884993
Love love love this app! Such a fun way to read the classics a little at a time! I bought the extended version that allows for font change and read ahead simply to support the app developers because I love what this app offers and want to see more from them 😍! Perfect for book nerds!
  • Amazing Reading App 5/5

    By zxsnatch
I was looking for an app that allowed me to load my own books but the e-reader apps available never worked well for me. This app is the perfect middle ground. Even though you can't load your own books, the library available is incredibly well versed with classic literature. I also have a habit of reading several books at once and having this app makes it so easy to read through multiple stories at once. The serials are the perfect size for light reading during my daily commute that I could not be happier. To the developer and the team behind this app, thank you! You've made this little bookworm incredibly happy. :)
  • Love this app 5/5

    By MsLlicia
I look forward to reading classics I should have read by now. Great app!
  • Wonderful App!! 5/5

    By Angela R.a
I absolutely love this app. It reminds me of way many of the classic are supposed to be read- in serial segments in which you look forward to the next installment. Dickens and so many others wrote their books in this way. Each segment is between 9-17 minutes long, and everyone has that amount of time per day to enjoy reading classic literature. These are the words that have shaped our world!
  • Classic Serial Reading, Just the Right Amount 4/5

    By gimpPAC
As a kid, I used to devour books. In the past couple decades, I've been having a hard time getting into a book. I find that I either have a hard time starting, or when I do start I tend to barrel on through until I'm done. Taking the way that many of these classics were originally delivered to readers, I'm finding this app to be really helpful in moderating my reading: to become more consistent by breaking it down into chunks. The interface is fun and the little pop up congratulations for finishing each digest is oddly rewarding. Trying out the sync now and I suspect this will be a great way to keep up on all of my devices. Also appreciate the pause feature, which I haven't really used yet, but probably will when on vacation or super busy. A+ experience so far!
  • I LOVE THIS APP! 5/5

    By CR Wills
First of all: it's gorgeous. I love the fonts. I love the minimalistic design. Second of all: ALL OF THE BOOKS. Lookit, I prefer PAPER books, but the chance to easily read so many books I label as "Classics I Shoulda Read By Now" leaves me giddy. I love the bite-sized portions. It guarantees I'm always reading one of those CISRBN. BADGES! Nerdy, bookish badges. I cannot WAIT to try to use this in AP Literature. The kids MIGHT ACTUALLY WANNA READ THE SCARLET LETTER! DID I SAY I LOVE THIS APP?
  • Become a classic lit reader 5/5

    By 0ET0
If you want to read classic literature but don't think you've got time, this is the app for you. It delivers classic books in daily chunks which only take about 10 minutes to read, and everyone can find 10 minutes to enjoy a bit of reading. I enjoy reading a lot, but I tend to go for current novels and non-fiction at the bookstore or library. Since installing the app, I've enjoyed 15 works of classic literature which I almost certainly wouldn't have read otherwise. And the works aren't all weighty tomes - the available books include humor from authors like Oscar Wilde and PG Wodehouse and some early sci-fi and horror works. And all of those books are free! I did pay for the premium version of the app, because I wanted the read-ahead feature (to finish War & Peace before seeing "Great Comet" on Broadway). That benefit, plus the other premium advantages like additional fonts, make the very small cost well worth it. I did run into two quirks with earlier versions, but the developer quickly fixed both, one in an update of the book and the other in an app update within days of my issue report. I heartily recommend this app to anyone who loves reading, and especially to anyone who wants to read more.
  • You've got a lot of talent. 5/5

    By wasted 15$
For the longest time, I've battled with myself over my reading habits. Before, I would spend days cooped up in the library, the bookstore, or my room, with a pile of books stacked high next to me and one opened in my lap. I think that now, with modern times, (or perhaps, just the fact that I got busier as I grew older), the act of sitting down and reading a book has stopped holding my attention. It's unfortunate, and I spend days scanning my library to find a book, sit down with it, but then dream of finishing it. Serial reader has gifted me with the chance to read the classics that I want to, in digestible amounts, and with fun reminders. There is no guilt when you miss an issue, because you're more likely to feel hungry for the next chapter. It's truly an incredible app and I want to congratulate the creator. A suggestion I could give would be to have the option to customize the days between new issues, so that if I'm particularly busy one month or if I have a certain schedule, I can customize the issue dates. Thanks again for making this great app! Let me know if you'd like some more feedback!
  • Wonderful and Unique 5/5

    By Robfb7
This is an excellent app for readers. A wide range of classic literature is available at your fingertips - delivered in bite size chunks every day. I have always wondered what it would have been like to read Charles Dickens as it was originally released as a serial. With this app I can now do this. Additionally, there are several authors that would have never been on my radar had it not been for this app. The e-reader is fully featured with the ability to look up words, highlighting, changing font size and type, etc. You also earn uniquely named badges to encourage you in your reading. It is worth checking out! Now back to my current issue...
  • Enjoy a labor of love ... 5/5

    By birdrr
It's rare in my experience to see a person really enjoy what they do. This App is one of those occasions. It's clear to me that Michael is enjoying himself. His product speaks volumes about his enthusiasm. Yes I support his project. I now have the habit of starting my day with a quick read. Thanks to Michael. A year later: This app changed my reading habits. I realize now that I have always been a browser, rarely a reader. This morning read has been rewarded with several dozen titles, a collection of interesting authors, and lots of memories. Yes I am still a browser, shelves and floors stacked with books I will never read. And yes I intend to continue with my new habit of reading. Thanks Michael.
  • Really interesting but odd to charge 2/5

    By Kinglereduary
Interesting concept but what's the point of charging me to read ahead when I can just get all the same books for free on Apple Books? Setting a 24 delay between blocks seems quite arbitrary. Other features maybe worth paying for but that one is strange.
  • Great for reading display needs work 4/5

    By Samson Livley
I've used this app daily since I found out about it's existence. It's helped me to start on books I've been putting off and start some I didn't think I would enjoy. The only flaw the app has is that the display often shows doubles, in my "currently reading" section each book is listed twice and each new issue shows up twice as well even if you only have to read one of them to finish your reading for the day. It's a minor problem and does not impede the app in any serious way. Overall it's the app I talk about and recommend most frequently.
  • Great way to build the reading habit 5/5

    By Leroy Soley
Nice device to get one in the habit of reading daily. Good look and feel, intuitive controls - it's nice. I'd like to support, but no option to do so within the app and no version to buy in App Store.
  • Fantastic app 5/5

    By Jdoublep
One of the best-designed apps I've come across in years. The library of available books is great. I used to subscribe to a mailing list called Daily Lit and this apps takes that concept to a much more engaging level. Highly recommend.
  • bite-sized chunks 5/5

    By groovykismet
I love reading. I can read for hours and days at a time; unfortunately as an adult, who works, goes to school and is a single mom, my time for reading is far and few between. This app is an answer to that need...reading small chunks for a few minutes at a time. Love it!!
  • Keep it up, please 4/5

    By Malandy Ayumi
I'm falling in love with this app and decided to pay for premium features. It's a simple, straight-forward app that has, so far, worked in building a healthy reading pace. What I'm most unsettled by are possible unseen glitches—unexpected behaviors that affect users' book collections and reading tracks—and the limited range of book selections. The effects of these can be minimized or prevented with long-term continual support for the app by the developer, so please keep up the work; after all, the app is a favorite of many. On another note, while the ability to highlight and take notes is there, it is not possible to delete highlights or choose highlight color. The feature is basic, that it is rather disappointing. Nonetheless, this is not a specialized e-reader, and definitely not a full-fledged one. It is meant to encourage regular and continuous focused reading sessions, so all the basic features are there with a single in-app purchase. In the end, I am thankful for the existence of this app and the effort involved. Thank you.
  • Best app of the year! (said me) 5/5

    By tessa.p
I wasn't really into classic literature during high school and realized just how much I regret it. This app makes it easier to start reading every book I've missed out on without the full commitment of pacing myself. Upgraded to premium for $2.99. Hope the app and its creator get more recognition for how brilliant they are ^^
  • Catching up on the classics 5/5

    By MewHewHew
I love this app! I can read for 10 minutes a day, usually on my lunch, and finish classics I've never had time to read. There are a lot of books available , some short, some very long. Excellent!
  • Good app but sync problems keep it from being great 4/5

    By moneetsingh
The general function of the app works well, "delivering" chunks of books in quick to read sizes. I paid for the full version to get the ability to sync between the iPhone and iPad. It sort of does this but has a bug. While it does sync to the most "current" issue on both, issues that are read on one device remain "unread" on the other. This is frustrating because it should mark it as "read" on both so you can keep your place. But it also doesn't have any way to mark an issue as "read" - you have to manually page through the issue to get to the end for that. Both the bug and the lack of "mark read" keeps this app from being four or five stars. If fixed, it's definitely a solid product.
  • Still awesome 5/5

    By Katkin
Same as my last reviews. I still love it.
  • Awesome!! 5/5

    By Let taco
This is a fantastic idea to help people get excited about classics!
