Slacker Radio app reviews

  • Need iwatch control! 4/5

Most other music service stops provide iWatch control of the app. Hopefully slacker will offer iWatch app functionality soon!
  • Best music app around 5/5

    By WerdNerd2
The stations are great. They play the obscure, deep tracks no other app will ever offer up.
  • Good app but crashes often. 2/5

    By Adam4501
I've been using this app for years and have never had an app crash as much as this one does.
  • Loading issues 1/5

    By BellaX3
App takes forever to load! I can be connected to wifi or cell service and it takes at least 5 minutes for each song to load. It's a ridiculous amount of time.
  • Crashes a lot 2/5

    By Freddy618
The app has a nice design but crashes at least two or three time in a hour.
  • Great service 5/5

I have the premium account. The variety of listening options is fantastic... Curated stations, playlists AND ability for offline playback! Oh my! I can easily jump between stations to quickly match music for whatever my mood is. Thank you Slacker Radio for always being there for me.
  • Best radio app to date 5/5

    By Geahjib
If you use Iheart or pandora. DELETE them. This app is the best by far. People pick the playlist not an algorithm. After listening to metal for an hr pandora will somehow have me listening to rap. And I hate rap so it shouldn't come up. With slacker that never happens. Not to mention slacker premium is the best. $10\mo and you can listen to individual songs. Entire albums or just shuffle an artist. I used this after a friend told me about it. Never looked back. Deleted pandora later that day. Totally worth it
  • Free version is very good 5/5

I always hated the way Pandora repeats music. Slacker is hands down the best music app.
  • Best music app by far 5/5

    By DisneyLouisiana
This is by far the best music app . I travel a lot and have been through all of the music apps ,and slacker really knows how to mix it up. Their library is massive and when I build a station ,they continue to feed music that actually matches the bands that I pick including "B sides" that you wouldn't hear. This service is actually curated by real people not a computer calculating algorithms . It also has a real radio feel with DJs that tell stories and give you insight on the bands .It's nice not to have to skip a song because it's something I " might" like . Slacker continues to hook up new music as well and being the music head that I am it's really nice to hear new artists work.. They have all the cover art and the info on the bands' which is nice to read up on. It's definitely the music app to have.. Keep up the good work.
  • Lyrics!?!?! 4/5

    By Ponygirl777
Love this app had it for about 5yrs. Also have a plus account. But where did the lyrics go!? So annoying that it was part of my original subscription but now it's not available? Help!
  • The best kept secret in the App Store. 5/5

    By RetroUltraModern
Slacker's unique features add value and set it apart from all the other music apps. I can't believe it isn't more popular, because it truly is the best music streaming service out there. The options at the top of the screen to intersperse host comments, news stories, and sports updates between songs are pure genius! The widget on the lock screen is also incredibly handy. I love listening to my own Slacker stations, and I have recently been enjoying the Artist DNA, Weekly Alternative Countdown, and other specials. It's worth exploring the app just to hear Slacker's original programs. It's so refreshing to hear real people talking about the bands and music, instead of an algorithm choosing songs with no human touch.

  • I <3 Slacker and use many hrs, every day! 5/5

    By mommymarly
2yrs later...still using every day, all the time and now my new car stereo works with my iPhone and even comparing to Sirius, I like slacker WAY MORE!!! I use slacker all day long and pay $4.34/month for no ads and it is worth every penny and more (I used it for years w/the ads first). We listen in the car to today's hits with the teens, or classic rock when hubby's in the car and at my desk I enjoy classical movie scores and I've created some custom stations as well. My teens even visit Disney hits when the mood strikes, there's just so much variety... LOVING SLACKER!!!
  • Not the same anymore 1/5

    By JBZ07
Used to be one of the better options. Now it's a waste of time. Stations are all the same, way too many adds. Not only do you have the commercials every couple songs now you have to deal with video ads when you skip a song. It gets frustrating
  • My Go-to App For New Music 5/5

    By Martykens
I have to admit, this review is long overdue, because I have consistently used and favored Slacker over other music streaming services for the last five plus years-and through it I have discovered the bulk of what is now my physical musical collection. Why choose this app over all the others out there, you may ask? For starters, the sheer variety of pre-curated stations. I'm all over the place musically-i.e. I like to listen to a lot of different genres and Skacker accommodates them all: (electronic, indie, metal, ambient, classic blues, hip-hop, and world) but honestly-I don't listen to those categories as much once I discovered their "Indie Electronic" Station. That station has officially ruined my bank account-but that's a good thing. Since listening to I.E, I've been introduced to what now constitutes the better part of my record collection. Artists that now feel like essential, personal discoveries to me. Groups that just because of this one Slacker station, I've seen in concert and been able to share with others. But I guess I'm most thankful that Slacker put a title to a genre of music I've always liked, but never knew the name of. (Simply looking up "Electronic Music" on Pandora only brought up Club music.) Thanks to Slacker I've "discovered": Bonobo, Kishi Bashi, Odesza, Chet Faker, Efterklang, Fever Ray, FKA Twigs, Glass Animals, Goldfrapp, Lusine, Little Dragon, Mr. Little Jeans, Purity Ring and Tokimonsta (and that's just off the top of my head) I guess I'm gushing a bit much over this App/station, but we have 5+ years of history, and it's been a musical mainstay in my life. Thanks Slacker-it's been a hell of a ride.

    By Mark 11345679964433
Definitely the greatest thing in the music world. Have the premium it's worth it. Seems to be getting slower but probably more people using slacker or a combo of thing. Still my favorite app.

  • Excellent selections, UI 5/5

Slacker user interface and music "curation" much better than Pandora. I pay for RadioPlus, download stations for offline listening. DNA Stations are fun.

  • Work day hustle 5/5

    By JaneDoe3182
Slacker has been amazing! I love the huge catalog of music they have, and the ease of changing playlists. I listen to it at work all the time. I just wish some areas of the job site got better reception so I could listen to it when I'm running too.
  • Love Slacker Premium 4/5

    By ChrisCrayton
I've used Slacker since I had my original Droid phone years ago and still love it. The offline music functionality is what made me use it initially, and it is still how I prefer to get my music.
  • Best ever 5/5

    By Herbalstickman
I like the way this app functions way better than pandora and iHeart. Far superior
  • No equalizer 2/5

    By Bonami0
Why dont you have an equalizer in this app like spotify and apple music has? Also add an alarm clock too and add the year the album or song came out.
  • Good 5/5

  • Coolness 5/5

    By Dretosis
Love this app been a premium member since the first android device start slacker and stop slacking.
  • These songs?? 2/5

    By canspell 2
What's with these awful versions of the original songs? Whacked out, terrible, and very annoying extended versions that are torture to try and get through. A great 3:25 song turned into a 5:45 nightmare! 3 out of 5 songs were just that bad. If free means having to settle for garbage cuts of my favorite songs, I'll be deleting very soon.
  • Love it! 4/5

Noisy advertisement pop-ups interrupting the music. That's new and it's horrible.
  • Great App! 5/5

    By Slacker Radio Fans
We've been using Slacker for about a year. The app is excellent to use, and intuitive. The Slacker music service with various radio stations and real DJ's is excellent. There is a great selection of music. We highly recommend Slacker.
  • I love it but... 1/5

    By ambie.ney
Because I used it for years, but as of lately, I'm not sure. I listen to it for the Top 40 countdowns and the I Am The Dj stations but they are CONSTANTLY crashing so I have to restart every half hour, sometimes less. So annoying
  • Liking the Selection 5/5

    By poole215
I like Slacker because of the way I listen to an artist or the type of music from that artist. Slacker makes my morning better
  • Ads are very annoying and can't be skipped 2/5

    By Phoenix2000
Music selection is pretty poor too. They have several stations with the same descriptions that play different music, and very little of it is actually very good. But the ads are what really kills it, they are very intrusive, extremely slow to load, too long, and can't be skipped. I just had to wait more than 30 seconds just waiting for their unskippable ad to start playing!
