Broke on 11/18, please fix!!
Before 8pm Central Time on 11/18, the transactions page on my mobile device showed only the transactions of my username/login associated with Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri (GSEM). Sometime later that evening, every GSEM transaction from all users across the state started showing (and still today shows) on that page. I can’t filter down to transactions only on my device, either.
*Girl Scout Leaders have already stopped using Square, since we cannot distinguish sales from one Troop to another.
Bottom Line...My Troop alone transacted $106 in Sales with Square that first day, which means Square will lose the income of over $400 in sale fees in the next two weeks...from my Troop alone.
UPDATE: The password issue is resolved! Thanks for contacting me, but the issue involved a miscommunication between myself and the other account sharer.
I can no longer log in. I have an iPhone 5s and iOS 11.1.2. I can’t contact Support directly because to do that ... you have to log in. Is my phone to old or something. The account is shared by a fraternal organization. One other person has access, and he can log in.
Great POS, terrible updates 4/5

I love and recommend Square to everyone interested in a super versatile POS system.
However, these updates are killing me. All of the equipment (register, chip reader, receipt printer) disconnects for no reason, and you have to unplug them from the power source to get them to reconnect, which only works sometimes.
The app itself has also had an incredibly slow reaction time, which in a busy cafe is not great for business.
PLEASE do something about this, Square!!!

We contacted square as we suspected a customer. Square started an investigation with this c. card and found this to be a valid scam. Our instincts were correct. This was three weeks ago, square has withheld all our money in transactions since. Undisputed transactions. We cannot get them on the phone. They say we can still use the account, collect money, but we don't get that money into our bank account until this possible 90 day investigation is over. We are being punished for reporting a fraud.

Just updated my work iPad and find out Square won't even open. Then I read online that Square has known this problem for WEEKS and has yet to issue a fix. This is gross neglegence and a complete failure to your customers. Are you really still sitting on your hands and this? I am disgusted. To everyone out there, get Clover. It's crude but at least it works

Great app, great fees, great customer familiarity and willingness to use, but here I am having to hand-calculate thousands and thousands of sales because I did not set up my categories perfectly from the very beginning. As my sales and items grew, I added and changed categories, but unknown to me, I could not change past sales categories, so I have dozens of categories of past sales that I cannot change. So, I decide to buy QuickBooks, with the knowledge that I would have to export all my data and change all the categories and sales by hand in order to streamline my categories and sales, but, NO. I can’t export more than 1,000 lines. WTH? So, I am having to manually calculate almost $100,000 of sales....i.e. pencil on paper, and I am extraordinarily unhappy.

I love square but the wireless chip reader takes way too long to establish a connection each time you need to use it. I’m extremely disappointed a company so dependent on the mobile application platform has not optimized their application for the screen on the iPhone X

Don’t waste your time with this app! This company will make you jump through hoops if your customer orders services that they consider too high. Because my customer charge was $1800 they assume were fraudulently charging them so they suspended our account till we provide dozens of documents proving the charge is legitimate and they refuse to just as easily contact the customer to confirm the charge. Meanwhile our account is suspended for clearly no fault of our own! If your a business do not waste your time with these incompetents!

I love how easy it is to use! One thing I wish I could do is view the amount in my inventory on the phone app. Most of my business is done on my phone or tablet and it would be great to see exactly what’s in stock. Right now I have view it on a web browser or in my excel document where I also keep track of inventory (because I can view that on any device)

Wish invoices could be seen on activity details for customer and take payment under their profile.
Please fix invoices!!!!!
Pay separately on different days and times, split bill. This is a huge problem!!!!!
Also when you invoice, it needs to print out a ticket so you can fufill the order. All businesses are different. Need to help all. Give option (yes/no)
Also, be able to print out all invoices unpaid to mail/ push button to email all or some. This is very important!!!!!
Any big updates soon?
We would love for invoices to get an upgrade. I do wish to see more options!

Our company uses “other” as a category for our Charge tickets currently. We would love if the customer name would appear on the receipt without having to type it every time in the custom field at the bottom of the other menu. We “add customer” to ticket, however, their info does not appear.
Please help!!!! This should be an easy fix.

You can only link your bank account, nothing else, so to use funds that are collected with this with things like Apple Pay, PayPal, even Square Cash - which is inane that they aren't automatically connected both being a service from Square -, you have to wait for funds to be transferred from the buyer, to your square POS, then finally to your bank. Or you have to pay a fee to move your funds quickly. Either way the fact that it isn't synced with the Square Cash app is just ridiculous.
You have no choice over deposits. Funds are automatically deposited in a few days or you have to pay to move them instantly. I don't want any of my funds moved automatically at all.
The customer service is horrible, but that's a growing trend with companies like this, they expect you to wait 1-3 days just for an automated reply from a poorly trained incompetent person who is barely proficient in English, or expect customers to ask each other for help. That's ridiculous. The entire concept of making customers rely upon each other for answers about your company and its procedures that your customer service department should be doing is an absolute joke. I don't care if I'm asking a question about $3 or $3,000, it's not up to other customers to provide me with answers or help.
Right now I'm beyond irritated and probably won't even bother to use my square device again, solely because of the company and their lack of proper customer service. I'd rather use PayPal, which is pretty bad as I don't like that company much either. But at least they provide help for customers when you call.

I opened up a square account I was approved and then after completing a transaction with my client square deactivated my account and now are holding funds for 90 days also after deactivating my account they refuse to let me call and speak to someone will only email I would never recommend this to anyone I have been in business for 20 years and never had this horrible of customer service!!!!!!!!!!! SCAM

To begin, we have been using Square for almost 4 years. Over that time we have integrated square more and more into our business. We are happy to report that this has been a great decision. The app is always being updated and keeps getting the features that we ask for. All you have to do is email or call and tell their customer service department what features you really want to see in the future. Then sure enough in a month or two the very thing you asked for is added in or has some beginning resemblance of what you had asked for. Do not be deterred by the negative reviews. Most of them are people who have decided that the review section for the app is the best wY to ask a question to the support staff. Or they may be engaged in some kind of shady business that is prohibited by square.
On a different note their fees are strait forward and are completely out in the open compared to other merchant service companies.
Overall I have been satisfied with the product and the support staff that make it keep working. Thanks square for making a POS that is easy and powerful. Cheers.

I have reached out about 10 times to try to resolve my account issues. No one will call me back and they want me to have a code to talk to somebody but since my account is messed up I can’t get a code this is so frustrating!!!

When I signed up for Square, i was under the impression that that the fees for the credit card transactions was paying for the development of the app...added value. Now that they have made a separate app that includes inventory management and label printing for $60 MORE /month, I realize I should have stuck with Quickbooks POS and a generic card company.
New update is horrible 1/5
I have the whole system. The pos stand, wireless chip reader, gift cards and pay for the appointments app. I loved it until the new update. Now that they have tried to combine everything it's horrible... my employees can no longer log into the appointments app without having access to the pos on their phones. We all use the main pos at the shop to ring up customers.
Now all stylist can see other employees transactions. My employees hate. The square team took almost a week to basically tell me there's nothing they could do. WORST UPDATE EVER

Find someone else to do your CC transactions with. You will regret the day you committed to using their service....it is awful!
First, they WILL NOT EVER have a person call you or anyone to speak with. It ALWAYS seems as if their customer service responses are automated. I have NEVER been more frustrated!!
Second, they have unstable policies and DO NOT notify you when they change...this is UNSAT!

All that needs to be done is to allow a decimal in the quantity box.
Still wait on this to be updated as many people are waiting for this feature. It will not make square any money by implementing it so they will not give us the time of day. Can’t wait until something equivalent comes out. I will be gone.

I love this APP! I don't get the bad reviews. I have been using it for a year, and any minor problem I've had, they have addressed, promptly. Every update has only improved the APP. My money has been in my account within 24 hours, including Sunday sales. I used the traditional merchant account, for over 25 years, being gouged by outrageous fees. I tell everyone about Square. Don't be afraid to use it, it's awesome! And, as a side note, the little device is being sold by Radio Shack for $10. I guess this would be OK in an emergency. But why, when it's free from Square?
Update: I’ve now used Square for over 5 years. I’ve only had good results. I’ve tried to switch to Flagship, which I though had better rates. Boy, was that a mistake. Their hidden fees added up fast. Fortunately, I didn’t deactivate Square during my trial run with Flagship. I’ll never stop using Square.

I have several businesses and have used Square almost from their very start.
As a service company Square is an awesome pay on the spot company. If you are a one man show. (Would be nice if I could give tech a receive only login, without full access.)
I have just opened a glass company and decided to use Square as well. This has been rough. The POC system is great. Setting it up is easy once you learn to navigate the system.
My main issue has been printing a receipt. Try to print them from email they look bad, very bad. Don’t have a lot of cash so bought a Bluetooth thermo printer and it works with everything even prints my photos but Square only supports very expensive printers from one brand. Why can’t Square print to a linked printer? Everything else can.
Awesome system in every way as long as you don’t give receipts.
STILL connectivity issues 1/5
(UPDATE) 11/04/2017 I've been using square with square stand for over a year and love it. But now the nfc reader takes forever to connect and or won’t connect. I’ve replaced stand, reader, and my iPad and still having connection issues. Please update square app for apple iPad Air. I've uninstalled and talked with tech support/engineers and no fix. This is a burden on my customers and my business. (UPDATE) Still having issue even after apple firmware update 11.2. Square engineers said the usb connectivity problems would be fixed in apples 11.2 patch. But this is not the case. Now what?

The simplicity of square is what sells me. I have no previous use of any pos system and they seem very scary when purchasing one for he first time. I went to square as it seemed like a simple package deal no extra or hidden costs. Turns out it was the best move I’ve ever made for my business. Setting up the register for he first time was a breeze and adding items to ring up was as basic as it comes even I who’s never use one once before the square was rocking and rolling in minutes of setting it up. I don't do instant deposits so can’t comment on that side of square but I received all my CC transactions on time and never had any issues that weren’t resolved immediately. I also use square payroll that saves me time and fortune compare to Adp! User friendly and simple that’s what makes this work so well.

I have had square since 2012. Loved it until Apple screwed everything up with the 11 update! I still cannot use my POS system at my salon. I have been a faithful customer. Please fix soon. I don’t want to go with another company. Apple really dropped the ball on this update.

I have been using square for 2 years! I love how quickly my deposits are made! I have never had any problems. I also use square appointments! I love the way I can keep track of everything! My clients and all of my services and products!
If I do have a problem it is resolved quickly and I don’t have to wait on the phone! They call me back. I would recommend this service to any business!

Very disappointed in this company not updating their app STILL to fix the card reader on iPhone after the latest iOS update from 3weeks ago! Get with it already! You'd think with the high fees Square charges they'd have this fixed by now! Square is NOT on top of updates nor providing any support for this problem! Not acceptable for small businesses when we are forced to manually key in virtual merchant at a higher fee! BOGUS!

I am a photographer at Middletown Photo Studio, Middletown NY.
We have been using Square for 3 years. We have not had any problems getting the funds. We use Instant Deposit especially after weddings so we can pay our photographer assistants.
You need about a minimum of $55 in transactions (enough to cover transaction fees) to use the Instant Deposit feature and you have a window between 3 minutes (time for transactions to sho up) and a couple of hours to use the instant deposit or else it will be too late and the funds will go into their regular system and you have to wait a day or two. If the transaction was for $35 then I can use my own credit card to add $20 to use the instant deposit and get it right back (after the 3 minutes it takes to show up).

I’ve been using Square for a while now. I’m very happy with my service and how quickly I get my money in my account. I’ve never had issues with the app nor with their equipment I use. I remember having an issue once but someone called me and walked me thru the process on how to fix it and called me twice since that to make sure I don’t have any other issues. I’m so glad I stumbled upon this app. I would recommend this app any day. Best costumer service too. I’m very happy.

I have had square for two years for my business. They are constantly changing their service and it gets messed up every time. Their instant deposit is a joke. For an extra 1% you can have instant deposit but what they don’t tell you is that you have to have at least a $1 in the account to have this happen then they say you will get the money deposited 2 working days later. Well that screwed my pay to my suppliers and employees. Thanks square for being greedy and a crap company!
If you read the reviews, this company will only give you a link to talk to a human and/or have your issue resolved if you make a bad review. They have no customer service unless you complain. That is just bad business practices! This company just tries to hold your money as long as they can until you make a public complaint. Good thing they can’t pay to have bad complaints erased! It keeps the public informed! I’m sure now there will be a response after this review but that is just too little to late and you never see a change in a review afterwards. That should tell you something right there!

Great product easy to use, but noticed a bug on the software when closing a day and sales are over a million no mather the result it will display $999.999 maybe can you guys increase the number of digits so the result will be clear at the end of day and we do not have to add it up manually.
