Its great App. But can you just add new feature, which is adding item's cost price, so we can track how much our profit each day/month ??

I sent the all of the necessary verification papers for my trash business and they deactivated my account and are with holding funds for 3 months. Also they said that there is no explanation as to why they even did.

This service and app is terrible I didn't receive any money not even the one dollar and they took all of their transaction processing fees there is no way to get ahold of them and they do not respond to emails do not give info to these scammers

I'm a private Duty Nurse and have private clients come from all over the world.. I changed 1000.00 the first time one day the I had another client 375.00 and then another client 500.00 All credit cards on hand in front of my clients... with their signature to sign, Square deactivated my account and holding my money for 90 Days.... And there calling it fraud, but neither one of my clients reported anything. I live I'm Miami Florida never never use these ppl and also you can't speak to anyone at all only email ......I'm a single parent with 5 kids to support...I have a iPhone 7+ .....

I love using the Square app for my business. Easy to use and tracks what all I have sold so that I can see what is a big hit with my customers.
I do wish that I could have a custom default message for invoices like when on a computer. As well as the invoice number would just continue to the next number; like it does on the computer. I'm not always available to use my computer when sending out invoices.

Used square all the time as a mobile massage therapist. I recently stopped using it as the device isn't 7+ compatible and I refuse to pay 40+$ for a chip dip standard device when the device comes free by default when you start an account with square... this is stupid . Quick books is better .
Square is gonna F**** you up, hold your money, call you a thief, charge the fees from your bank account even if they don't release your money, is gonna descriminante you and not give you a phone number to call! I don't know how a company like this still doing business like that!

My boys, age 10 and 12, downloaded this app for their summer drink stand. After they had me hook it up to a checking account I noticed deposits coming in daily. I ask them to show me what they had done. I was blown away. They took pictures of all their drinks and snacks, priced them and could ring up and refund card transactions. It kept track of their inventory and gave them intraday reports. Amazing, if they can do it, so can you. Never had a single problem. They have used it for 3 summers.

Spare yourself some dignity and time, to deal with Square is to have no respect for yourself. They will decide that one of your sales is illegitimate, will hold your funds, will not respond to your support emails for 10 days, will remove an ability from your account to call them. I end up calling the customer and asking them if I can refund the payment and then charge it again via different merchant.

This company is a joke, I have a legal business, legal bank account. I entered all of my information correctly. Waited the five days for the bank verification. And lo and behold no money. I have charged an upwards of five thousand dollars from my customers in the past week. And every, single, bit of it is nowhere to be found. It left my customers. But did not come to me. And every thing I do to figure it out ends up with zero answers from square, and the bank has no record of them. They're stealing money at this point and if it is not resolved they will be sued. I am not the only one this is happening to right now. They need to get it together asap.

Square has without a doubt the worst customer service I have ever seen in my life.
I'm 20 years old and over a year ago I began planning to start up my own business. I'm days away from opening and because I've used Square in past jobs and read some good reviews, I wanted to incorporate it into my own business. So I went out and bought a card reader and began setting up my account. Things were going to great until I got to the identity verification portion where I found out that according to Square, I don't exist. I tried everything. Old addresses, old phone numbers, I triple checked everything I typed in and gave them my full SSN. No dice. Square then notifies me that I've been denied access due to their limit on verification attempts, and I will not be allowed to take card payments. As If there's another use for the program? So I send in a support ticket explaining that I do exist and asking for help getting my identity verified.
This is the answer I received:
"I know this is disappointing, and I wish there was something I could do. Your last application to accept cards with Square was not approved, and I can't offer any additional chances to apply. Because square offers a limited number of application attempts, this decision is final. I wish you and your new business the best of luck going forward."
So what you're saying is, "Sorry. We can't fix the problem that we caused, so we're just going to blacklist you. We're sorry, but not sorry enough to do anything about it. Good luck!"
The thing that disappoints me the most is that Square didn't even TRY to help. If they had actually made an attempt to rectify the errors in their system, I don't think I would be so upset. But as a potential customer and a source of income for the company, I expect more than an empty apology and a "good luck" from a professional company of this standing.
If you're looking for a card reader and enjoy being screwed over by a company that doesn't care, you've come to the right place. If you want a card reader that can actually accept payments, I'd look somewhere else.

I LOVE Square Point of Sale. I have used it for over 3 years after using 2 different merchant services.
I get great customer service through the Facebook users page and appreciate the input from other users as well. I have a small tea room restaurant and love the open ticket feature as well as invoicing for catering jobs. Best value for the price and great reports.

Getting hold of customer service is impossible. I signed up for Square for my small business and somehow incorrect email was entered. In order to change it they of course want you to go to original email to verify. But this is impossible since incorrect email doesn't even exist. Tried clicking on "support" on their website and it just kept looping back to same help page. Found a phone number to call on the website which was answered with recorded message "this number is blocked". I called my bank to close the account just to be safe.

After two years as a customer they closed my business account because I sell weapons parts and tactical gear. Shouldn't have been a surprise it's in the name of my company! 90% of my customers are law enforcement or US military! I obey every Federal and state law. While they can choose who to do business with I hope you all do too. Choose another company that doesn't sleep under the blanket of freedom we provide while telling us we are bad people. Shame on you Square!!

These people are the epitome of horrible customer service. Don't offer any support over the phone on the weekends. If there is a technical issue I should be able to call & NOT have to wait thru e-mail & chat troubleshooting. Vend, Clover & other POS systems are less troubling.
Never got a card reader 2/5
The reason I never get my card reader is because your app refuses to recognize apartment numbers. I've tried 3 times and every time i get conformation that my reader has been sent, the address does not include my apartment number so I will not receive it. I'm going to have to spend the $10 and get one from a store which is ridiculous. It's not that I can't afford the $10, it's that I'm supposed to get it for free and you refuse to send it to the correct address despite the many emails and phone calls I've made to give the correct address.
3 years with square and $225.000 in sales last year they canceled my account with no notice. All I got is "according to section blah blah blah".
I called and my customer pin has been also canceled no one to talk to. Like we are trash. Just deActive without having the strength to talk to us. That's because it's a weak company. The CEO is bipolar so is the employees. But that's ok because the Bay Area is a bipolar city. And so is California. My business is in California. We already have enough regulations we don't need to be canceled with no notice and not able to accept credit card payment.
When telemarketers called us and said one day square will cancel your account with no notice we didn't believe them and said "we love square we are not switching"
But they were right.

almost flawless cc processing - super fast & honest fees ! 5/5
we process nearly $1 mil annually on square using their chip reader. the process is easy and super time efficient. we regularly receive positive feedback from our clients about how quick and easy the transactions occur.
we had a single outage a couple of months ago ... square had a site wide failure lasting 45 min or so ... we could still process payments just not with the chip reader. as compensation for the hassle square gave us a processing fee credit that was more than generous.
Im the business owner having used other merchant processing services before square and there is no comparison. The fee structure is straightforward , the web dashboard is good and customer service is prompt. I think some users (probably not admins of the business) dont understand the process of reaching a square customer service requires an authorized user to login to the desktop browser and first obtain a service request "token" or code... its a multistep process and a little annoying however it gets you to talking with a square representative quickly after obtaining the token .
we process all cards (visa , amex , mastercard) cheaper at our negotiated rate with square compared to other merchant cc processing options used in the past.
the instant and daily email reporting from square is also excellent.

$132,000 in payments in 2016 with Square and I can't get help. I probably would have kept square, but I can't reach anyone for support. The automated system hangs up on me if I don't enter a customer number. My customer number is not on any reports, it is not in any of the emails, it does not correspond to the customer number on the IRS paperwork, it's not in the app. More than a little irritating.
My problem is a good one, we formed a corporation for our business and I need to associate the payments with our corporate EIN and not my personal social security number. I can't reach anyone for help! This caused me to look at the rates. We are being charged between 2.75 and 3.5%. We have added a credit card terminal a few years ago. We continued to use square to separate a specific type of revenue. We are realizing it is not worth it. The rates from the bank are 1.6% plus .10 cents. Good customer service might have caused me to overlook this. So by my quick calculation, we paid Square about $2300 more than what we would have paid the "evil" banks. No wonder they don't want you speaking with a human!
Square is good for a really small business that cannot justify a credit card terminal, but do the math above for your business. The break even is probably not that high. Square seems simple, but the credit card reader is not that reliable, their customer service is awful and the rates are high. Not a value.
Terrible customer service. And terrible company in general. DO NOT USE!! Use propay or another company that's better. Made 271$ worth of transactions. Had to verify my business account. So I did. As soon as everything was verified the 271$ was taken by square and they charged my bank account 221$ so now they have a little under 500$ that they owe me. I called them thinking customer service would help me and was transferred a total of 13 times. Hung up on twice. Ad was on the phone a total of an hour and forty three minutes. Horrible customer service. No one wants to do their jobs. Will never do business with these people again. And will make sure no one I know ever uses them again. Give me my money back you thieves!!!!!!!!!! WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I am not the only one who has had trouble with them.

I sold an expensive item; a month later I got an email saying that for some reason the Costumer wanted the money back. Square took the money, held it against our will and never gave it back. I never got the item back.

I made a sale with prepaid card and everything was fine and then the next day they decided to ban me.. after a single completely legitimate order. Good thing I had already gotten my funds transferred out. Stick with PayPal and other reliable POS providers don't waste your time on this.

Three different times I had to provide A LOT of documentation and hoop jumping to get my money released. And on the 4th time, I complained to a representative that they've already put me thru this 3 times. He replies, "Well, we're doing it again."

Withholding funds, Shut down without notice 1/5
On two separate occasions, Square has brought my family business to a screeching halt by withholding our funds and shutting down our ability to conduct transactions without so much as a moment's notice. We service many soldiers overseas with our business and are keyed transactions raised several 'flags' for Square. I suppose asking a soldier to fly halfway around the world to conduct a $50 transaction in the middle of a war isn't ENTIRELY unreasonable Square? You're right, that is suspect. We have put a request into the Department of Defense that notified that a new article of war decree that we must provide all soldiers with a 7 day pass to fly home so they can load up on their protein. I'm done with Square as their monopoly over mobile payment has expired. We look forward to paying their competition to do a much better, American job.

You will be disappointed in the end with the quality of the app and customer service.
You have to have a code to get to customer service and if you have a problem accessing your account you can get the code.
While easy to use in some regards it is not intuitive in others.

I love the square!! It goes everywhere I go and does not require a phone line or charge me an arm and a leg to use their services!! Very speedy checkout and money's always in the bank when it's supposed to be!!

I've been with Square since 2011. For the first five years there was almost no outages.
As of 2017, there have been two in a matter of weeks.
Square doesn't care about the outages.

Chip reader has been rendered unusable by this update. Nearly every update in recent months has rendered the reader useless and takes days - sometimes a week to fix. Then next update repeats the problem.

With my iPad Pro and the Square chip card reader accepting credit cards is easier than a cash transaction. Working in a tourist area where no hard wired phone service is available using Square on my wireless iPad is a no brainer.
