I use square chip reader for my business everyday. It's very quick and easy to use. I have recommended the square to a lot of people.
Need app to bill recurring invoices though 4/5
Works fine, glad I can charge credit cards now, but what I really need on the *app* is a way to make a recurring invoice for a recurring payment. Currently it can only be done from the computer. I really hope this changes soon.
My money is stuck in their system while they review 1/5
I am being paid for a small remodeling job and my client is paying me through square. Well I need the money to purchase supplies yet Square has decided to review my instant deposit saying it generally takes 1 business day. Well that was almost 2 weeks ago now and still nothing. All that money is stuck in their system until they finish this silly review and there isn't anything I or my client can do. This has spelled the last time I will ever use Square. As soon as this issue is resolved my account will be cancelled.
They need to fix the sign up issue. Like yesterday ! GOD Bless🙏🏾

This company will not represent you in any way if you have false charges through the card service. I had a scammer steal money from my account and they in no way represented me, "their client", and left me high and dry. Use a different credit card source.
I would NEVER EVER recommend this app to anyone.
They promise immediate payments and even offer same day release of funds.
This is an absolute lie. They will not tell you that payments will take nearly a week for you to get your money after their "verification process."
Very misleading. Incredibly expensive for such an inconvenient service.
I would never recommend this to anyone ever.
There are better services out there.

I got this app and it randomly with out any warning charged my account making it go into the negative. If you can avoid it I would not get this app. The costumer service will not help you either.
What employees can view 3/5
I don't want any of my employees to be able to see how much is deposited into my bank account ever, Even my managers. I also don't want any of my employees to be able to see my sales history all the way back to when we opened.
Allow owners to lock the deposits section separately
Managers only need to see sales within the week... allow owners to limit how far back managers and guest can view sales. (E.g. 1 week or 1 month) anything would be better than unlimited access.
We use square for the convenience. It makes it easier for my crew to collect payments when they're on the job site. Fees are comparable to many others for the amount that we charge. All in all we've had nothing but good experience

Small device with powerful reach. Able to process any transaction anywhere with accuracy, on time and without failing. The system works perfectly well and customer support is amazing. We are artists who own a nonprofit organization. The Square saved our business and helped many other artists as well. We are very happy with it.
New update and lack-thereof messing up work flow 1/5
Can no longer delete line items in the receipt view by swiping left; have to clear all or manually delete in menu.
No iPad Pro 12.9 support. And no side view support for iOS multitasking.
No way to track bottle deposit and bottle returns.
No way to delete unused secondary locations.
Many other little quirks that need to be addressed.

I used square this pst weekend at a high traffic Expo and loved its ease of use. It was fast to use and customizable (if I had the time to mess with that feature). Great product.
The only two adjustments I would make to this product is the create duplicate products for ease of creating similar items with corresponding sizes and when I created invoices with notes, the notes were gone the next day when I went to make the custom orders.
Other than these two things, I highly recommend it!
Deactivated my account and tried to hold my money for 90 days. Only way to get it back was by refunding the customer. Don't use

I love my squared. I've never had a problem with it and my percentage has never changed. What I don't like is that now I need to spend $80 on a chip reader when I paid nothing for the swipe reader.

I want to use this app for personal use,how so let say I do some house work from neighbor or friends it could be cooking,cleaning,moving stuff from one place to another,etc and they don't have cash to pay me they pay me by credit/debit using this app.Sadly this app won't let me use it with out having an annual income.perhap I'll just use pay pal.one thing off subject can we get the new chip card reader in (red) to support HIV awareness?!

Installed easily. I've seen lots of complaints about customer service but I've never had a problem with them. I had a problem with credit card fraud and the helped me keep my losses to a minimum.

We've been using Square at two locations of our busy coffeehouse for more then two years now, and have very mixed opinions of square. On the positive side, square is well designed, easy to use, and has most of what we need. The processing rates are competitive, especially for businesses with a low average ticket such as ours. There are lots of integrations with other vendors, many of which are excellent, some of which are horrible.
On the negative side, the app can be VERY buggy, and the support, while better than it used to be, is still lacking. We've had issues with a lack of responsiveness to touch, with unresponsive readers, and with our kitchen display system.
If you are a cafe, and you rely on having a kitchen display system, please note that square's solution, an external provider called FreshKDS, is SEVERELY lacking and unsupported. The system frequently goes down, and drops orders 5-10% of the time. It costs $10-$15 a month, but the company that runs FreshKDS is completely unresponsive to service calls, still.. square's response has been to try to push concerns back to that vendor, who then doesn't respond. I hope Square will consider addressing the issue.
Very convenient, especially for selling at Farmers Markets, Fairs, etc. I like the phone register for tracking sales and the reports.

Generally works very well for my small business needs. I would have given 5 stars, but the chip reader sometimes has issues connecting. Set up is kind of slow for chip reader for businesses that don't have constant use.

So far I like it for my starting small business. I do, however have the PayPal account just in case. You never know what could go wrong.

When i first opened the app, I signed in there was a piercing beeping noise that would not stop unless I exited the app. Really weird..

This is a great app for your business or whatever you charge... but the only thing is that if you have sell 50 t-shirts and for some reason they return 1 in the same day ... in your "Sales report" it will still there as "T-shirt x 50" instead of "49" and thats an issue for me.
New update is bad 1/5
First iOS 10.2 made the reader unable to pair with my iPhone. Now the latest update to fix that issue let the reader connect again. But it takes 3 times as long to establish the connection compared to before.

I purchased a square reader and then tried to create an account (in retrospect I should have done that first.) I kept getting told that my information was "invalid" even though I repeatedly checked and re-entered it. After a few tries, I was locked out. Forever. As in, I can never have a square account in my name. I contacted support and they basically told me there was nothing they could do, sorry. They couldn't even tell me which information was considered "invalid." What this means is that ANYONE could try to set up a square account in your name and get you locked out FOREVER. There has got to be a better way to resolve this issue.

This new reader looks "cool" in my office, I bought the reader and the dock , the dock has a secured thing that made difficult to access the reader once is set up
All that expensive thing for nothing , even after updating to last version every time I have a customer in front of me I can't process the credit card expuse "the reader is disconnected " "push the bottom to connect the reader" I can't since It is difficult to take the secured part out , I have the reader w dock connected wired all the time and my iPad on the side, there is not reason for them to be as is, so I have to look as dummy in feo of my customer more than once , go to take the GoPayment reader to cast the payment, this happens all the time , very frustrated ;/

I've been using Square for 5 years, watching it evolve into what it is now. It works flawlessly with my small business. I use the register, appointments, webpage, loyalty, invoices, etc. they all integrate very well.

Square is not for you if you run a serious business in which you wish to have return customers. Square considers repeat business to be "high risk" because you are getting paid from the same person more than once and they will deactivate your account for it. They have absolutely no customer service and if you do have your account deactivated randomly and for no reason (no exaggeration, go look up Square reviews), you no longer have access to support (when you would need it most). Even when they screw up, they will not budge. You get punished. They have received over 3000+ complaints in less than 3 years of service.
If you choose to use Square, good luck. You've been warned.

Used them from very beginning, years of large transactions $4,000 to $12,000, then had an failed login attempt, received call about fraudulent account login and they PERMANENTLY DEACTIVATED my account. Try calling with zero help, then emailed and got nothing but a run around and no true answer to why. Glad I had another processing app already ready to use! Save yourself the headache
So far Square has been great to use, all our reports has been good and We love the end of the month statements and all that they do for us thanks.

Apple 10.2 will not work with your app. please update 😢
I went through the whole set up and I did one transaction for $400 and everything was fine and two days later they deactivated my account and they stole the $400 for NO REASON! The actual reason that they gave me was that "I had a pattern of high risk activity" I ONLY MADE ONE TRANSACTION! Again, they charged my customer then they kept the money and there's no way of talking to anyone. I was on hold for two hours and then they hung up on me! STAY AWAY!!! THERE ARE WAY BETTER COMPANIES THEN THIS TOILET! Want hard evidence then Google "Square reviews" and go to the BBB and try calling them and see if they answer.

This new version is not as good as the old one. Now, everything is revealed and can be seen in the new version such as report. I guess it was because Square wants to charge on specific services like employees service ($5/mon). Only if we use this service, our employee will not be able to see our report.

New update and my phone won't download it. I can't even delete the app from my phone and try to start over. I can't click into it or anything. Please fix.

The layout and features in this app are very impressive. However, some features in this app are not available it seems on the web (editing your company profile). This app works great on my iPhone (personal) and iPad Pro (that we use primarily for transactions. The ability to sync images for products from the web to app is beautiful.
