Basic functions and $70/year to still have to see ads?! 1/5
I’m editing my original review after using the app for a year now. If I’m paying $70 a year for bare minimum of a cam and a small write up on conditions and I deserve to have more. This is not worth the cost for such basic functions and still have to see advertisement. I have a great list of functions that should be added below to improve qol this app desperately needs.
A warning about automatic renewal. I have mine set up to automatically renew through the App Store and have a receipt of payment and my premium services have been suspended. I’m paying for a service I can’t access and that’s not okay.
When you’re generating revenue from advertisements and a paid subscriptions I expect top notch experience and it’s not even close. I think it’s time to invest into some new features like live updates from members and carry over some of the beta website onto the app.
**Old review** (Pretty great app as long as you're a premium member. Otherwise the cameras are hard to watch with all those ads. They improved the camera organization which it really needed but it would be better if it could be organized by a sort feature. Like sort by best conditions, distance from location, popularity. Maybe even add a feature to write reviews for locations or update current conditions. The other day Scrips and La Jolla were rated 1-2ft with poor conditions. Really it turned out to be 2-3ft occ 4 with fair conditions. Just my 2¢. Either way I recommend it as long as you're a premium member.)
Necessity in today's busy life 5/5
The best way I know to keep an eye on the surf.
Lacks features and has ads even in premium 3/5
Why hasn’t surfline invested in a sorting feature for my favorites spots but has figured out a way to show ads everywhere even though I am a premium member?
Stars for different functions 5/5
5 stars for predicted surf and surf contest live feed camera action. 3 stars for short surf videos. Sometimes videos redirect me to click bait sites or when I click on watch video here there is no video to watch.
Excellent app! 5/5
Love it! Recently moved away from California and this is the perfect app to know the current and upcoming conditions for whenever we visit. Keep up the awesome work!!
Allen Maxfield 4/5
Don't care much for the upgrades but sure beats driving or walking down to check the waves.

I LOVE IT!!! Definitely worth getting
Easy & awesome 5/5
Thorough forecasts and super easy to digest the info
Great app 5/5
Really enjoy this application
Good forecast and tells me when I should go out
Let's be real 5/5
It rocks very accurate
Do not go premium. 1/5
I’ve wasted $70.00 for a premium subscription for an iPhone 7 and I feel that I have been robbed. Worst of all I still get commercials, my regional forecast has been blank forever, and none of my 4 locally selected beach cams work. Save your money.

This app is pretty weak and full of bugs. And the reports are bull**** as well
Surfline on point 5/5
This app is awesome! I check it on the regular
I use it and it works for all my needs.
By A pro Scooter Driver
This app is one of the best forecasting apps for surfing there is and there are livecams too!
Sadly I'm in Germany and staying here for a while so I have to deal with a lot of depression not surfing and seeing all other people surf and be happy. I hope I can get back to the USA soon
App works poorly on iPad, missing key forecast tools 3/5
One of my biggest complaints about the app is that it doesn’t work well on an iPad at all. Doesn’t support landscape mode except for cam feeds. You can’t search for spots without adding them to favorites, which is annoying when I’m looking at places I don’t frequent but just want to check, unless you go to the map view. But when I’m looking at spots in California or Florida from New England, I don’t necessary want to scroll on a map. Probably the most salient missing feature is the nearshore model tool, though. Living in New England, where a lot of spots are missing from the site, nearshore is often the only way I can get a sense of what individual spots will be like, and I have to use a browser or computer for that. The interface is useful for quick checks, but for those of us who are often on the go and rarely at a computer, those key tools are sorely missed.
Love it!! 4/5

Never lets me down
Great app! 5/5
May be of it was connected to Facebook and Surfline subscribers can have a Facebook group.
Invaluable tool and reference
New app works well 5/5
Thanks for changes these last 12 months. The app is limited by your people forecasters and the cams you have. Nevertheless the app works exactly how it should - the tide, wind, swell direction are all cleanly laid out. Timing on an iPad release??

Kind of giving up on this app, as it frequently says “oops something went wrong” and I have to go retrieve my password and log into it again.
Just easier to use the website.

This is definitely my go to, for all surfing info.
please add Gulf of Mexico 2/5
has to delete since it only had Pacific and Atlantic for US coasts
Essential tool 5/5
By 5 star voter
Love the app as I customize for my spots and those I just day dream about. Can break up the day or make me not motivated to work as I would always rather be at the beach. Cams are wonderful but wind, wave size and temp set the tone
Must have for ever enthusiasts
Great, useful app! 5/5
By Nice and very helpful
So many apps promise but don't deliver. Not the case with Surfline. Very helpful, very useable, very practical. Recommend to surfers and beach vacationers: anyone who wants to know surf conditions.
In So Cal where you have to pay up to $15 just to park at the beach it's essential to "know before you go". I use this app every time I surf.
The Surf forecasting is rarely off. Surfline is well worth the fees and I occasionally go days or weeks without checking the detailed data of surfing conditions the app offers.

Good clue 4/5
By Dr. Wu
Nice to have an idea of what the waves are doing before I commit to the freeway drive to the beach.
doesn't stay logged in 1/5
almost every time i open the app it makes me log in again. very annoying! it also makes it difficult to quickly look at nearby spots - you have to add to your list before being able to see the reports.
Forcasted wave heights aren't accurate at all 3/5
Surfline will say fair to good and be completely poor for the entire region, it could also say poor and be completely bombing and half the show nothing but sets out the back or how many people are on the beach hardly shows the main breaks especially ponce and north sunglow pier I've put in multiple tickets. so Surfline don't message me back with your pity message fix your app . On the other hand this app gives a decent perspective before heading out and gives a 3 star forecast IMO. Who reads reviews of a surf forecasting app anyway? 😂🤙🏽
Before you get wet 5/5
Nice to quickly get an idea whats out there when planning your available window to get wet.
Designed by a child 1/5
Total garbage. Nothing but crashes since inception. Does the developer bother with testing?
Too many issues to even talk about. Why is it so slow to load reports?
surflines dropped the ball 1/5
once again cams aren't getting fixed wind speeds and directions not being updated or completely wrong and amateur reports for the east coast. yet they seem to have the money to send a crew everytime there's a good swell. sounds like we are paying for surf trips instead of a functional product and tool
Good ap 4/5
