this app is AMAZING! i’m only in week 3 and i’m already leaner, stronger, and healthier because of it. my skin is glowing and i have fewer breakouts too. ;) get this app and take advantage of it... it’s expensive but worth it. you won’t regret it.
Billed after I canceled 1/5
I started my 7-day free trial and I canceled my account after 3 days since I didn’t have time to work out and then was still billed 2 weeks later.
Great Workouts, Slow App 3/5
I LOVE these workouts so so much. I just wish the app wasn’t so slow and wouldn’t freeze on me. That’s my only stipulation. But seriously, don’t let that stop you from working hard on your bod! 💪🏼
A few things.
I don’t like apps that make me feel pressure to use now. Just a big turn off to fill in information to be brought to that screen at the end. For that I deleted.
I don’t do subscriptions. If I like a lite version of an app I will purchase the full version.
Don't buy! 1/5
Do your research first. I'm wishing I had. Now like so many others I'm still being charged months after cancelling. The app isn't even that great. There are so many better options out there. Don't bother with sweat.
SO MANY BUGS & no real support 1/5
By Adam McCravy
The workouts are great. But, the app does not work well. And there’s no option anywhere to report bugs and get real support except a FAQ search page. Not worth the price. I wish they would make a PDF option.
Great Workouts, Awful App 2/5
PWR program has been great and the workouts are fun, but the app in general is terrible. It malfunctions in the middle of every single lift session. I get a couple minutes in and it goes straight to “cool down.” My planner is all crazy and out of whack saying i’ve done things that I haven’t or not recording things that i have done.
Great workouts, wish the app was a bit better 4/5
The workouts are excellent! I love them! I own the book, the digital download, and I pay for the app. I really like the workouts. But I wish the app had the ability to cast onto your TV (chromecast/appleTV) and downloads for offline use (modeling after music apps that have a 30 day expiry if not connected to the web) as some gyms do not have WiFi or cell service.
Awesome workout app 4/5
So, I’ve used her program after I borrowed it from a friend for a couple months and it was hard to just do it from the booklet. It’s easy to get bored...then the special happened for this app and a friend and I started together. This app is really good.
1. Do it with a friend. The great thing about that is you both can keep tabs on one another so that you feel bad about missing a day.
2. The exercises really improve your health. I’m on the third week and I overall feel more energized in the morning and less groggy in the afternoon. My muscles are starting to tighten and firm up, the tummy is my problem area so I figure that will take more work than everything else.
3. It doesn’t require much except 30 minutes out of your day. I used to tell myself all the time I never had the time for it. The 30 minutes flies by so fast. I don’t eat 30 minutes prior, and normally do it the moment I come back from work.
4. The only reason I didn’t give it 4 stars is because of the alternatives. Now some alternatives (like the push-up and sit-up) are great. But i get so aggravated when I see things like burpees in week two when I just physically cannot do them. I DESPISE burpees so I really wish there was a way to customize a workout and day instead of 10 burpees, do 20 (blank). For the most part though I skip those last sets of burpees and continue with the circuit.
I feel great using this. I’m scared when the deal is over. Not sure if it’s worth $20 a month, but if you see similar results like you would with a trainer than obviously it’s a great deal!
Cumbersome and lacks many features 1/5
Overall, the exercise programs seemed well done though not enough instruction, and the functionality of the app poor.
I don't usually give such poor reviews on apps, but found it necessary here. I will say that I tried to search through the Help file to find the answers to these issues, however, I was unsuccessfully. If this app has these features, and you can't find the answers in the Help file then perhaps the Help section is what needs to be revisited. Here's why I found the app cumbersome to use and lacking.
Cumbersome: 1. Many clicks just to get to your workout and activity calendar. For example: I believe that I should be able to go to the Activity calendar and then click the particular exercise for the day/time and the app should then pull up the exercise video. However, this app requires you check your calendar then go and find your exercise video for the day. The calendar doesn't appear to have to link to the videos; and 2. Suggestion: when click on a workout routine perhaps it should just list at the top what equipment is required, so it is not necessary to click a separate tab; 3. There are more thoughts regarding the clunkiness of this app ... these are just a couple.
Lacking: 1. Does not have verbal instructions to exercise, so requires the user to constantly look at your screen while trying to focus on your moves; 2. Could not get this app to work with my music. Music would play and then shutoff after a few seconds; 3. Does not appear to have the ability to change the day you want your program to begin. For example: I signed up to use this app on Monday evening, but I wanted my exercise program to begin on Tuesday. I did not find the capability to change the day a program begins.; 4. I used this app on my iPad it does not have the ability to rotate from Portrait to Landscape; 5. When using the Yoga exercise routine, I would finish the exercise meaning the time would end, but there was no audio alert just an arrow flashing. So if I wasn't looking at my screen, I wouldn't know to move onto the next exercise set; 6. I found the exercise routine okay, but lacking in information. For example: in the yoga exercise routine, should I repeat the exercises over and over or hold a pose for the remainder of the time.
Perhaps people may find my thoughts "picky'. I was just hoping these comments might provide people with some additional information. Good luck!
Charged after cancellation 1/5
Charged me $20 the next month even though I had already canceled my subscription.
Deleted progress 2/5
I’m at the end of the fourth week. The app congratulated and than asked to choose ebetween different programs. After that I returned to the calendar to see that my progress got deleted.
Can you please help to restore it, since part of the idea of the app is to keep track.
Don’t be afraid of weights - PWR workout keeps boredom away 5/5
I rarely write reviews, seriously, I always just rate and go on with my day. But Kelsey’s new PWR workout deserves it. I would say I’m pretty comfortable in the gym and have used weights before, but this program helps me so much. It’s never the same thing, and the time flies by. I actually get excited to see the new workouts each week! I tried BBG and liked the cardio options but needed something more. With PWR, you’re never repeating over and over and for me that’s really what keeps boredom away. The program also includes a few different weight workout styles so I now feel more knowledgeable - supersets, pyramids, etc! If you’re afraid of weights, or think they will make you bulky (they don’t!!), try this workout. Or if you are a frequent flyer at the gym and just want something new to keep you inspired, this is the program for you! 💪
Need more notifications 3/5
You simply can't do yoga while staring at the phone. You need at least some sort of sound to indicate to switch sides or the next exercise.
Great workouts! Easy to use. 5/5
I live a very active lifestyle but have been looking to mix up my workout routine. These training plans are easy to use, help me compete with myself. Seeing improvements in my endurance, strength, and body composition after just a few weeks.
Puts this gym rat through her paces 5/5
I’m in the first week of the workout and wholly cow! Let me start by saying I was already in good shape, particularly aerobic wise. I downloaded the app to see if I could use it in place of my expensive gym membership. I also wanted to tone up a bit more. This app puts me through my paces! I love how flexible it is and how the workouts are only 28 minutes each. I’m a busy teacher and mom of six-year-old twins so it needs to work around my life. I can fit in a 28-minute workout in the morning or after they’re in bed. After only a week, I’m feeling more toned already. I’m not following the eating plan because I already track macros and calories. So far, I love it! I can’t wait to see my progress pics in three weeks.
On Week 64 5/5
64 weeks ago I had never set foot in a gym, let alone consistently worked out. Now, I go 4-5 mornings a week armed with my Sweat app and cannot thank Kayla enough. The app breaks down Work put routines to manageable 30 minute chunks that anyone can fit into their day and really empowers people that may not know where to start. When I started, I couldn’t do a single push-up or sit-up, and now I’m racing to fit four cycles into the time limits. The app has made me feel strong in so many ways, and the only thing I’m worried about is that I run out of workouts in 8 weeks.
TLDR; Workout app is great for all fitness levels and lifestyles.
Great program-app needs more flexibility 4/5
The program is great and I’m in the shape of my life! However, please stop the app from resetting when you switch from week to week. It is so annoying when I have a busy week and can’t keep track of what I have completed! I hate the auto erase every Monday and if I just want to browse back or forward. This should be an easy change! Thanks for listening!
By Dinosaur person
I feel so strong after finishing a BBG beginner workout. Perfect way to slowly ease yourself back into working out. The food plans helped me tremendously, too!
Bait and Switch 1/5
For the “free” trial you have to sign up for a $20 per month subscription which is nearly impossible to cancel. Really an incredible waste of time. The app is just ok. Not much more than many free apps out there. Skip the hassle.
Love love love this app!!! Workouts are awesome and clearly written and demonstrated perfectly! My only (tiny!) suggestion would be to add the ability to hold your finger on an activity and drag it to a different day. (For example if I wanted to move my rest day from Saturday to Sunday, instead of having to add and delete, just being able to simply click and drag)
Screen freezes 3/5
Overall, I think this is a great app and I love the sweat program. My only issue is that the screen often freezes which requires me to force close the app and lose my spot in my workout. It would be great if the technical team could fix this issue.
Love this. So easy.
The app for ANYONE 5/5
This app can be used by anyone, from the avid gym goer to the person who is barely motivated to get out of bed. The exercises show an avatar of Kayla (or Kelsey) demonstrating each move, which is helpful. There are 4 modes: original Bikini Body Guide for anywhere exercises, BBG Stronger for gym goers, PWR for gym goers taking it to the next level, body and mind for yoga, and Post Pregnancy.
If you have an Apple Watch, it works great together! I have met my exercise goal and move goal almost every day this month!
It appears that every program starts the user out gentle, with simple cardio and exercises. I looked ahead of the program and it gets pretty crazy towards the end but there is an option to dial it back or forward.
The meal program is extensive. I will be honest: this app appears to expect you to cook every meal every day. Not good for the meal prep schedule but I just pick a few for the week and use it as inspiration. With that said, the variety of food won’t make you hate yourself for dieting!
There is a chat section too. Sweat participates in the chats. I had a question about the policy and rather than having to email or call, I asked in the forum and they answered! Pretty neat!
Let’s talk about price: $240.00 appears steep. Even the promo discount of $120.00. Let’s look at the value though. A physical therapist is your copay if you have insurance. A personal trainer can range as little as $30 per session and up. If you average the amount of times you would have to pay for either you have already paid for the app. The cost motivates me to continue to use it as well.
Personal note: 2 years ago, I suffered an injury to my right leg where I had no mobility for weeks. I have spent two years working with physical therapists trying to get it back. I also had to see a chiropractor because of the pain the limp was causing my back. I began the Stronger program and the parts of my leg that were numb and immobile are now twitching. They are sore after leg day. My back hurts less. I peeked at the post pregnancy program and almost all of the exercises were the same as my physical therapist’s. I wish I had started this app sooner, saved money and time.
Whether I lose weight or not (which I have!), I have gained so much more confidence and done more for my overall health using this app.
Add previous workouts option!! 4/5
Personally I like to do my walking workout through my Apple Watch exercise app just to be sure it counts my exercise minutes cause if I use the sweat app it doesn’t always go toward that. Plus when I do so sometimes I forget to track it in the sweat app and then there is no way for me to add it to the previous day. This needs to be changed cause otherwise I never finish my entire week.
App freezes halfway through workout. Makes you start over 2/5
App freezes all the time not worth $20 a month
I love this! I’m so much more motivated and notice actual results. Today marks the beginning of week 5. So far the work outs are challenging but doable. I started out and could barely do 3 push-ups with horrible form and now I can do 10 with great form!
A lot of bugs 2/5
I like using the app. It keeps me on track and motivated to see the "completed" check next to a workout. It's nice to talk with other users on the blog page and keep everyone motivated as well but the app has a lot of bugs. I am currently on week 5. Today is Monday and it's saying I already completed a full body workout this Friday, which is impossible. The activity planner is not user friendly at all and it's a shame. I'd like to properly be able to track my workouts. The app also lags. If I close the app to answer a text message and open up the app again, it freezes and lags.
Good workouts but app has been broken for weeks 3/5
The workouts are great but it’s a shame the app won’t let you complete them. Every time I’m halfway thru a workout the app jumps to the cooldown and won’t let me resume the workout. It’s very frustrating and it’s literally been weeks and they still haven’t solved the problem.
App has issues! 2/5
App keeps crashing on me, exiting out, freezing, during my workout. It’s so annoying!! I would have to restart my workout and skip through it all to get back to where I left off. It just ruins my whole workout. Please update or fix the app!!! I have the latest version installed too.
Awesome workout, App needs some fixes 4/5
This app and Kayla and the team are awesome. Workouts are fantastic!!! But I have had lot of glitches with the app itself. I have the most recent iPhone, so that shouldn’t be the problem. But sometimes the timer won’t start, or after a break it won’t start the new circuit.
Great but slow 4/5
By International Explorer
I don't know if it's my phone but this app is incredibly slow. It takes forever to load the pages and edit the activities. But besides this I LOVE everything it offers! I love workouts and meal options, I love how you can customize the week to your liking. A really good app!!
Great app 5/5
Super easy to use and very motivating! Love the PWR program!
WE NEED SOUND 1/5
The sound and sirens do not work in my app. Exercise is an escape and a way to get in the zone to focus on our bodies. This concentration breaks every time we have to click back to our phones to skip to the next exercise. Please give us the option of having a bell or ding to indicate to move to the next exercise and a voice that says “next exercise: burpees” that way we don’t have to stop to check our phones and carry on.
It’s the fun type of workout I needed to keep myself motivated. I’ve started with just the workouts and working on eating better. Just in the first week, and I’m already able to turn tempting foods away because I’m so motivated to keep this up. They’re fun, challenging work outs - but not impossible.
Too much stuff 3/5
Honestly I find this app very difficult to navigate when attempting to complete the workouts, it’s not very user friendly and the circuit/reps are not very clear in my opinion, also I wish she would actually talk to us and guide us through the workout instead of just showing it to us. The timer thing is very complicated to use.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this app! I only wish it allowed you to store the weight you lifted in each exercise! Best app so far! Totally worth it!
So much potential, step it up! 2/5
I won’t comment on the actual workouts or their effectiveness (yet) but from a pure functionality, feature, design, & UI- I’m SO disappointed. I also build apps for a living so perhaps I’m a bit critical but there are obvious things that are missing causing quite an inconvenience to the user. You can’t add progress to a prior day, the trackers are HORRIBLY off, & their is no tutorial for first time users. Just a few examples. There’s so much potential and for the dedicated community Kayla has built, I hope she steps up & delivers a better product.
isn't there a way to do the circuits without having to beat the clock? there is no way for me to complete a circuit in 7 minutes because of the way my gym is set up. It takes me a minute to walk to equipment and then I have to wait for my turn to be able to use it. it it terribly frustrating to me and i do not understand why i cannot turn the clock off and just do the circuits at my own pace. Please allow us to turn the clock off. I love the workouts but this is a terrible deal breaker
Rip off 1/5
I purchased both Kayla’s programs a couple years ago, that’s $150 dollars.
I would love the access to Kelsey Wells PWR program but in order to get that I have to pay monthly/quarterly/annually for all of the programs provided... two of them being Kayla’s which I already spent too much money on.
Poor development of the app. Should give customers the option to choose the program if they don’t want all of them for a different price.
I’m confused. 3/5
I bought it for a whole year, now I’m stuck because I don’t know how to use it. I get so confused as to how many laps should I be doing of each circuit? Things like that. Ugh! I hate to be trying to figure it all out. Is it just me?
Money scam; doesn’t sync. 1/5
I’m out $130 and they won’t respond.
Misleading app design has led to me being out $130 because I selected a plan designed to look like $9/month when it was really an annual plan—and guess what? They don’t offer refunds.
I decided to check out this app to refresh my workout routine and thought I’d try a month or two if it was affordable. Three days of trying to get anything in the app to work, I finally give up and decide to cancel my subscription. That’s when I find a $130 charge on my credit card for a non-refundable annual subscription. So I’m out $130 for an app that crashes, doesn’t sync to my Fitbit or My Fitness Pal, crashes constantly, and is completely inflexible if you want to modify timing on the workouts.
Definitely disputing this one with Apple.
This app is wonderful, the program is life-changing, and should you ever have a problem the customer support is wonderful! If I could, I would give it six out of five stars! Absolutely nothing compares to this!
Disappointed - overpriced, shady auto-renewal, and not user friendly!!! 1/5
BE WARNED- this app will automatically renew your subscription without warning. Do not make the mistake I did and end up paying an extra $54 because you assume you only paid for 3 months like you signed up for in the beginning. NOPE!
(I LOL when Kayla posts things on insta like “get rich in happiness not money” when she charges an arm and a leg for her app 🙄)
Anyways... other comments on the app. I liked it at first and the playlists are good. But it is not very user friendly. I couldn’t figure out how to easily check off workouts on my calendar or change weeks. Also, you can only listen to the playlists while actively in a workout.
Sweat App 5/5
So far so good 5/5
So far so good! I am enjoying it!
Very buggy 1/5
I am doing otherwise weights workout and every single time halfwau during the activation circuit the workout skips to the cool down circuit. And half the time when the final circuit is about to start the app freezes on the "start" page and I would have to redo the workout and smooth through all the parts I have done before. How is this problem still persistant considering how long this app has been around?
I like bc it makes me smell like chicen 5/5
Chiken smells nice ;) 5 stor review
Already paid loads of money for her BBG program and to have to pay monthly for an app doesn't seem right... My gym membership is less than this. I do have to say it's awesome to have it digitally instead of carrying the BBG book around. (But I don’t mind doing that.)
** Give free access to those who bought her program already. Like a membership page, special code to get in. Then charge those who haven't.
Or alternative idea
**Starting free trial so those that are considering buying her program could try it out. Then start charging maybe $10 a month if they are really interested. They might end up buying the program which is where she would make the most profit from. Not that that is her agenda. Just a thought!
Not worth the $ 2/5
I love the BBG workouts, but save your money and get the PDF versions instead (ask around, someone you know probably has them!). This app was super touchy (always opening things when I was just scrolling through and not clicking), and also I wasn’t able to back log workouts (like if I had done an evening LISS and forgot to mark it down, I couldn’t go back and do it the next day). Essentially, you’re just paying for a glorified interval timer. I bought the $20/package and cancelled after 4 days.
