Great App 5/5
This is an excellent app to use for math solving.
Love this app.. helps me a lot
Not a free app 1/5
This app provides nothing that you can’t get for free online. As of writing this review it just gives you the runaround until you subscribe to the paid version. Not worth a download.
wouldn't recommend this
Better than photo math because....... 5/5

Can solve complex number problems😍
Life changer for 3 years 5/5
This is amazing and with the extra features for an extra price. I have enjoyed this app for 3+ years now!
just use wolframalpha. it's 10c better
Trying to be fair 3/5

For the free version:
PROS: it works. The user interface is fine. For the questions it's willing to answer, it's answers them well. It doesn't crash your phone.
NITPICKS: The keyboard is... serviceable. It's a bit cramped, and two of the bottom rows have four different 3-page scrolling things (it's difficult to describe because of how weird it is). I can't give it too much grief for that, given how much more space a regular keyboard has over a smartphone. If you want big buttons on a calculator, get a TI-84 or something. Also, it can't do indeterminate forms? Maybe? If it can, I can't figure out how.
In the FREE VERSION:
• Ads. Every time you solve an equation, you get an ad.
• You don't get to see the steps, unlike on the website. It's a small thing, but it's significant.
• It doesn't work offline. If this is a free version only issue, then that's fine. But something tells me it isn't. You aren't downloading a calculator, you're downloading a thing that grabs the answer from an online source. That, or its to make sure Symbolab gets that sweet ad revenue.
If only one or two of these cons were present, I wouldn't have even written a review. It's the combination of all three that really grinds my gears.
- In app, it says that the $7 paid version is a "one time purchase." However, I've seen multiple recent reviews claiming that it's "$7 per month." If true, then the app straight up lies to you.
EDIT: Developer, thank you for responding! That's more rare than it should be. Your response, plus the confirmation that the premium version is a one time purchase is good news, and adds a star.
However, you haven't clarified the issue of wether or not the app will work offline in the premium version. It's a minor issue, but I feel it's worth the clarification.
too hard to find the calculator u need
Upgrade required to see steps to solve 1/5
By Abigail Freely
One aspect of this program on the web was that it allowed you to view the steps involved in solving a problem. The app will only allow you to see the steps for a $6.99 fee. What is even more annoying is that it says "to see all steps advertisement free..upgrade." But there is no choice to see the steps free with advertisements! Terrible!
Worst app. 1/5
First off; they force you to use their IOS application. Understandable, but I'd like to be able to use the website WITHOUT the app. Please; if you listen to feedback, fix this.
Not very helpful 1/5
Sure it’ll give you the answer easily, but you have to pay in order to see the steps to understand how it was solved. What a crock.
Stupid ads 1/5
Ads are too annoying when you are trying to make a quick calculation
This app has been a lifesaver! It's easy to use and has full explanations. Much better than any other app I've tried!
One of the most frustrating apps I have ever used 1/5
The user interface is an absolute pain to navigate as well as in inputting questions.
Paid $7 for the steps and it literally just repeated the problem. I can't click the graph and see what points are graphed. Kind of hard to see exactly the plot points when you having it going to 50 in 10 squares.
Great calculator! 4/5
Works great, only downside is you have to pay $7.00/month if you want to see the steps in solving the problem. At least it gives the answers for free. I'm happy my teacher doesn't make me show my work!
Really useless 1/5
Very tedious and not at all easy to use.
It was better before 2/5
You used to be able to see the solution before and not just the answer. In order to see the solutions, you are now required to upgrade. Shame.
Best app ever i know
It gives answer. 2/5
Why does it it she the steps like online on a computer.
Not the best 1/5
There are plenty more apps just like this that SHOW THE STEPS AND DON'T ASK FOR $6.99. Also there are a ton of ads.
By Melanin Goddess😘
It's ok but it doesn't help with all of pre-calculus, just easy questions
It's a lifesaver. 5/5
Paid the fee to see the steps. It's really getting me through my Algebra class in college. Thank you!
Impossible to read user interface. Can't even enter a sample to see if it works without being asked for a $7 upgrade. Crap
Not free 1/5
Doesn't do anything if you don't pay. Just gives the answer, which isn't helpful for anything above middle school level.
Waste of time 1/5
Have to pay to see steps while you can use the computer to show steps for free
Great app 5/5

Symbolab is like an online version of the TI-36x Pro, whereas Wolfram is like the TI-83.
It's far more user friendly.
HORRIBLE!!!! DO NOT GET 1/5
By CA B
IT DOES NOTHING IM TRYING TO DO MY HOMEWORK ITS DOSNT WORK DONT WASTE UR TIME ON THE APP! 0 stars! I WISH THERE WAS A 0 CHOICE FOR THE RATING!!!! IT SAYS PLZ RATE IDC APP!! CHANGE IT!
Annoying to use and has pop up ads. Like really?
Worst app. Give zero stars if possible 1/5
Terrible. Don't download
Would be good if you didn't have to pay for it to show you the steps
It's great! 5/5
By Black flash223
I really like how it shows you exactly how to do the problems. Helps a lot when you're unsure about a problem!
Internet connection. 4/5
Wonderful app. Wish we could use it offline though.
I like it too much 5/5
By Omar pospos
He help me to solve many problems ❤️
Best math app ever. 5/5
This app helps me on a ton of school work. Thank you.
You have to pay $6.99 to get the answers to your problems. Not worth it!
Best Calculator Hands Down 5/5
I came across Symbolab on the web first, then found the app! Happily paid for the pro version! Why spend a lot of cash when you can spend only a little?!?!
Interface needs updating 4/5
The format for the app is still stuck in old iPhone 4/5 view. It would be great to see that fixed for newer iPhones
A t 4/5

A tab for suggestions for the user will be useful. In some problems, I wasn't able to input what I was looking for in a equation.
example: (finding the focus of the parabola)
Helps with the small details 5/5
By Math Rules
I paid money for a different calculator app made by a very well known company. This one is better. The customer support is very quick and helpful. And, the step by step explanation are easy to follow. I like the fact that the formulas like the power rule, the chain rule, or integration by parts, etc. are given as part of the explanation. The only drawback I have experienced is that the keys are kind of small, so I sometimes hit the wrong key. Paying attention to what I am entering helps solve that issue.
Pay for steps 1/5
They want 6.99 for the steps and there are adds EVERY time you calculate equations.
Hidden gem, wonderful app. 5/5
I used this app to get me through algebra 2. The customer support is amazing and they are constantly adding and updating features.
Great for double checking work 5/5
I used Symbolab a ton to double check problems and my answers for my Calculus 1 class. Amazing tool, I mostly used the PC version but the portable app is great if you don't have access to a PC, they both work the same way which I was very happy to see.
Great Calc app 5/5
By BS Smith Family
This shows all the steps and graphs to solve AP Calc Problems. Pro version
Not worth it 1/5
They require a payment in order to do something their website does for free.
Great app 5/5
This app is amazing solves every problem with steps. Only thing is that I hope they add Rational Expressions with correct solutions for denominators.
You have to pay for them to give you steps 1/5
Pretty ridiculous when hey already have ads playing.
Didn't know my first problem 1/5
I tried to use the camera, which is terrible FYI, and it couldn't read that problem yet. My first problem that I attempt to use this app for and it couldn't compute it. So much for being able to solve any math problem
