The Economist Espresso app reviews

  • To the Point and Insightful 5/5

    By Gines Passmonte
Espresso is the perfect way to start the day. Concise news about stories you won’t see on the morning news.
  • Brief, yet complete 5/5

    By denniseck
Provides easy access to an overview of the latest news, and links to extended coverage where necessary. Summary is reliable and good for prioritizing reading. Clean interface, slow startup and access on older devices.
  • In a nutshell 5/5

    By blewphish
Nice synopsis when one doesn’t have the luxury of time.
  • Morning News Quick Run Down 5/5

    By Eagle Eye 7
The Economist Espresso provides a short list of of world news highlights that's detailed sufficiently enough for a great understanding of the real news provided. The Economist editors do their list well, which includes a highlight of the world stock markets. Their news offerings are always on par and written well! Thanks Economist Espresso Team! Those end quotes are really nice!
  • Best News App 5/5

    By Rhone B
The Economist has always been one of the most sophisticated sources of news out there. The fact that they were able to connect with the new “A.D.D.” age of America is another sign of their keen sense. This is my favorite app and I start everyday with a cup of Joe and Espresso.
  • Loving it 5/5

    By Mb5719
Love the fact that it’s short, it gives me the gist of the story, don’t have to read 800 word story to know the basics. If I want more then I search, but this is just great. Of course for a US audience there’s too many UK news, but I’ll take it, nice to see outside our borders.
  • The app is fast and easy 5/5

    By Denis_Not taken name
Couldn’t be more happy with this app as I use it for 2 years with no issues whatsoever. Consistent, easy, fast, quality content. Thank you!
  • My daily shot of espresso 5/5

    By SavCorona
I use this app daily to get a quick brush up on the big news in the world. So far the stories have been very intriguing and well written. I highly recommend it to those looking for a fairly unbiased and high quality news source.

I love this app but it could be better if we can use the app from ipad, too.

  • Not Updating Content 2/5

    By Chess beats Facebook
I used to love waking up to a fresh new issue of Espresso but now my wife and I have been having the same issue where it's a few days behind. I even reinstalled the app and nothing improves. Please fix!!!
  • Very disappointed in their customer service 1/5

    By Epleh
Make sure you know how to cancel your subscription on iTunes because you’ll get charged even if you contact them before the free trial is over. They’re slow in responding and after you’ve been charged they’ll say it’s an iTunes issue and they can’t do anything about it.
  • Love it; wish it would pre-load the articles 4/5

    By EdspressoEd
This app is one of my favourite parts of my morning routine. It's also simple and to the point! One thing I wish for is for the content to always be fresh and pre-loaded *before* I open the app every day, so that I can access the content even on my underground commute where I don't have access to the internet.
  • Almost impossible to cancel subscription 1/5

    By _kumako
    Just like their print subscription
  • Exactly what I needed 5/5

    By k2kphilosopher
The sleek clutter free user interface design and cap on news items was the perfect combination I was looking for!
  • Excellent summary, bug free 5/5

    By Jackdaniels87
Simple and useful. You get what you need every morning for 10 mins
  • Very Informative 5/5

    By Snuppy12335
This is a very informative and well researched app. I would recommend it very strongly.
  • Broken on my iPhone 4s 3/5

    By CyberClops2
I suppose all good things have to come to an end sometime. This update won't open on my iPhone 4s.
  • Excellent App, but room for improvement 4/5

    By BOSS51999
The app delivers on its goal of giving you a brief look into the world; however, the app could be even better if there was an option to expand upon the story you are currently reading. Also, it would be very nice if a notification popped up in the morning to facilitate your going into the app.
  • Great way to start the morning 5/5

    By mithunm93
I’ve always liked the economist because of its substantive articles, and getting a quick round up of the world news every morning really makes me feel like I’m keeping up with the important events that are going on.
  • Currency/Stocks addition 4/5

    By KingCam25
Hello, Your app is concise and very informative. It's a terrific morning coffee briefing. I would however like to see the bitcoin, as well as, other digital currency exchange rates included in the final page. Food for thought. Best, Cameron moulene

  • could be amazing 1/5

    By meDaBoss
great content, great editing...but one of the worst iPhone apps i've ever come across: slow, a bandwidth hog and unreliable!
  • If you love the Economist, you will love this app! 5/5

    By JohnClark76
This app is perfect digest of daily news for those who love the Economist magazine. Articles are timely and unique. I really like sharing the daily quotes with friends and coworkers—for at least ten minutes every morning I look and feel smarter and more worldly! My hope is that the developers consider a version of this app that would work for e-ink android tablets. Thanks!
  • Not easy to cancel 1/5

    By sodbuster137
There is no easy way to cancel a subscription so you better make sure this is what you want before starting your free trial. This of course defeats the purpose of a free trial but what do they care.
  • No option to cancel 1/5

    By grindels
Easy to subscribe, impossible to cancel Good luck. The news is fine. But this approach to business online is unprofessional. Let you product stand on its own merits. Make it as easy to unsubscribe as it is to subscribe. I’ll post a follow up on how long the process takes. Just searching online was an hour and there is no feature to do this digitally. E-mailed cancelation request and will call tomorrow
  • Beware - incredibly difficult to cancel subscription 1/5

    By Bodomfan16
The app itself is a pretty basic source of news, the issue is with their subscription model. There is no way to cancel your subscription within the app or even on their website! I called their customer service number and was told I have to call ITunes directly to cancel. For an app to not have a way to cancel its own subscription is a joke. There are much better sources of news out there that don’t make you jump through hoops to cancel their subscription.
  • Just great 5/5

    By Payam 6567
It's really the best . And they are getting better by the day.
  • Good reads! 5/5

Both a deep dive and an overview of news not often found elsewhere
  • A Good Read... 5/5

    By imciberrana
The Economist Expresso is a good source, and a good read in summarizing the international occurrences.
  • Timely, critical, concise information. 5/5

    By BH701
Always a must read and requires little time.
  • Have to read everyday 5/5

    By Danstreet
After working out in the morning, reading Espresso is a refreshing start of the day. But distance from other popular channels, espresso has characters and uniqueness.
  • Garbage 1/5

    By Ara Ghanbarian
Garbage app garbage customer support ridiculous steps required to cancel your subscription. This is nothing but predatory.
  • Digestible 5/5

    By Whatsahashtag
Smooth, quick, and enjoyable. That’s how I like my news. I just wish I knew what time it was published. 6am EST?
  • Tres bien 5/5

    By lodrodorje
    Very good
  • Pretty precise 5/5

    By Layla313

  • Double shot, well balanced 5/5

    By GaryMichaels
Helps me quickly digest the news deluge without the bad after taste most digestives with the added flavor of a world view
  • I love Espresso in the mornings 5/5

    By Afsm1
Aggregating the most important news in the world is no small thing to do, but The Economist has managed to do it. My only complain is that sometimes the exact same versions of the short articles make it to the The World this Week section of The Economist magazine, but other than that, great read in the morning.
  • Audio edition is needed 4/5

    By Jazz Picasso
Some great content in here but my morning news intake generally involves podcasts as part of my commute. So this is not my go-to. It would be awesome if they provided an audio edition. Then it would definitely be my #1. Also - duplicate notifications are a problem.
  • Poor packed 5/5

    By MsMeadow
Concise, excellent writing. Packs a whole lot into a few pages. Most important sound bites you start my day..
  • Great format, great content 5/5

    By Alexander in NY
Perfect for getting up to speed
  • Espresso 5/5

    By pereztla
Awesome morning summary, super professional and right to the point! Great company for the first day’s cup of coffee! Thanks!
  • It has become a habit 5/5

    By modahlawi
It's amazing how they present you with a collection of articles that involves politics, business, arts, social, sports and technology news, all in a simple way that helps you catch up with what's happening around the world daily in a matter of five minutes. Two thumbs up!
  • Amazing App 4/5

    By Appesque
Clear, unbiased news to start your day, highly recommended :) Not a fan of the ads as another reviewer wrote. If I’m paying, clearly we shouldn’t see ads in my opinion. Come on… no tracking or ads please.
