Won't Renew 2/5
As you have shown no interest in improving this Ap will not renew
Content excellent-app clunky, awkward 2/5
Needs work! Does not remember last place read, no date on article listing, must scroll or flip many pages to find correct place.
Definitely Needs Improvement 2/5
It would be nice to have the ability to access the daily devotional without having to scroll through the pages. Not user friendly at all. Probably won't renew my subscription if this doesn't change.
Good Idea, Bad Delivery 2/5
If this product would just be delivered in Kindle format that would cure pretty much everything wrong with this app. Looks pretty but not functional. Won't save your place where you left off. Tried it won't renew.
Not user friendly 1/5
I'm very disappointed over paying a yearly subscription of $10. This app is not user friendly. You cannot access the devotional of the day by use of dates. You have to scroll up and down and hope you get near the date you need to read. In addition, you cannot access the daily verse that is part of the daily devotional. There is no link for it. All of this for a $10 yearly subscription? Accessing the " lite " version was easier not to mention free! Very disappointed.
When you press the icons nothing happens. Use the devotional on iPhone
Needs some work 2/5
When I open the app and choose the current issue, I would like that day's devotional to come up.
Pretty good; could use some improvement 3/5
Like other reviews, I say it would be nice to have the app remember the last devotional read, so when it comes up for another reading, you don't have to start from scratch and scroll to try and locate the current day. A calendar or "jump to" feature would be terrific. Why aren't they addressing these issues and making improvements?
Another problem I'm having with the app is that if I can't get on-line through Wi-Fi or cellular, then it's not possible to use the hyperlink to the Bible verse that is to be read. I have versions of the Bible on my iPad and iPhone, but it's rather inconvenient to switch apps to read them, then return to this app for the reason stated above. It would seem simple to embed the small amount of Bible text into the downloaded version of the Upper Room rather than depending on the Internet to provide it.
Love UR - hate this app 1/5
This app is very difficult to use. Don't bother. Read it online or grab a print copy. I'm trying to figure out how to cancel so I don't have to pay for it again.
Difficult to use! 1/5
By Pastor Nat
If this is a DAILY devotion, the app should remember / go directly to today instead of the cover! Every other book / reading app can remember where you were last reading when re-opening the app! Also, how are the bookmarks accessed later? Would it be so hard to add in the referenced scriptures? Could you give us the ability highlight at least?
Great devotional but app needs work 3/5
By Alabama Lamb
Having read the print version of the UR for years I thought it would be convenient to have an e-version on my phone so I downloaded the app. It was nice to have a link to the Bible verse for the day via the on- page hyperlink without going to my Bible or a Bible app. However, that feature, as well as all other linked content, stopped working suddenly, possibly due to the latest iOS update. Also, as others have noted, the entries are not dated in the index view and you must open the pages and scroll through to find today's date. The bookmark feature does not work and it doesn't open where you left off. Finally, the app must be accessed via the magazine app and is not directly accessible from the home screen. I will go back to the print version when this subscription expires.
I'm not sure why I daily have to re-down load my booklet. It takes spongy about a minutes but it is a hassle. Why can this app act like an e-reader keeping booklet down loaded and keeping my place for each day. It's a Hassle having to flip Thursday many pages trying to find the day I left off. I had The UpperRoom for almost20 yrs and decided. I wanted to go electronic but now I wished I'd never down loaded the app. Please fix the bugs or give better instructions on how to get around he inconvenience.
Great App but... 4/5
Really great app. But something happened to the text & background. Very hard to read. Text size OK. But the text is extremely light. Please fix! Otherwise, I really like the app & look forward to reading it everyday.
Very Good Digital Adaptation of an Excellent Devotional 5/5
The Upper Room has been an important devotional for three generations of my family. I appreciate being able to view the both as it appears in the printed version, the text only version that is easy on my older eyes and the links to Bible passages and references. Thank you!
Great app 5/5
By Mall Tigger
Great devotional with links to Bible verse referenced
Hard to navigate 2/5
Too much time required to find the specific devotion for the day.
NOT free 1/5
Oh yea, it's free to download the app but all it does is waste time and space. You have to download all content at $3 a book!!! Make this known up front, please!
Cumbersome to use 2/5
Wish this app was easier to access and use. Needs a lot of improvement. Think I'm going back to the hard copy for my daily devotional.
Wonderful content 2/5
Worth every penny, have been ready everyday for years in hard copy. So happy to be able to have each day with me now wherever I am at on my phone. It does need work however, please fix so we can open each day without having to reload library every day then hunt for today from the issue every morning. Also please allow us to remove old issues we no longer need or want. Start every day with this reading thank you for giving it to us but please fix
Getting next copy 1/5
Just finished March-April edition, went to library to download May-June and nothing there. Having paid for year, you would think it could be downloaded anytime it became available. Not so. Very frustrating.
So very user friendly! 5/5
I've been a subscriber and reader of the print edition for many years---almost 40, in fact! It's been the foundation of daily devotions ever since. Having just discovered the App, I am so impressed with how efficient and easy it is to use! Every scripture is a link to that verse in the Bible, the Thought for the Day is a link to an expanded version of it, and the app allows readers to see a large-print version as well. And as always, it's uplifting and full of other sound Biblical information! Really happy to have found this!
Can't read the right side 1/5
I'd be able to give this app more stars if I could read the text. The daily devotional text is not formatted to fit my ipad screen. The entire right half of the text is cut off.
Version 6.4 has serious issues on the iPhone 5. The article list does not show the date for each article. After selecting an article from the list the forward and back navigation arrows don't work properly. In page view mode the links to the Scriptures and the author information do not work properly. Landscape viewing also does not work on the page mode. I hope these issues can be resolved in the next version I really love reading the upper room on my iPhone.
Keeps crashing after 10 days 1/5
The app worked great for about 10 days bur now goes black and shows nothing when I try to open to it. The Upper Room doesn't support this. Still waiting to get an e-mail from GXTcel, which bought Texterity. Needs a lot of work!
Needs work 2/5
Very difficult to get to correct page. Have to scroll thru pages to get to correct day for each use. Developers need to take some lessons from the developers of Our Daily Bread. Can't click on listing of bible verses to read. Will be asking for refund.
Great Devotions 5/5
I have one suggestion for improvement. I would like to see a link to click for the entire scripture suggestion. That way, the scripture could easily be read and you could return directly to the devotion.
All of a sudden started crashing today on my ipad, cannot open. What happened ?

Awesome reflections as I became n touch with this literature n prison n still follow it outside thanks 4 helping me stay strong on the way :-)
Favorite devotional 5/5
For years, I have picked up hard copies at church. I decided to go green and try the electronic version. I love it. There are links to the extra bible verses and to information associated to the text. Each daily devotional is written by a different person from all over the world. It makes each devotional unique.
Yesterday I downloaded the update. Now I am unable to open on my IPad please fix:(
Love Upper Room. App needs work. 1/5
By 5 pets too many
I've had paper upper upper room magazines for years. When I saw the app I thought it would be a great way to save paper and get it automatically. It's free from the church but I decided to do it anyway.
Content is great! However, when I click on the Bible verse, it's tiny. And there's no way to make it bigger. Pinch and spread doesn't work. If I switch to text mode I can make the font larger but the link to the Bible verse no longer works. I'm rather unhappy that I now have a one year subscription...
It would also be helpful if the icon could be on a page rather than in the newsstand.
Not free but great content. 4/5
I have used Upper Room for years and now it's so convenient to have it on my phone. It costs about $5 to purchase for the year and I don't mind donating that to an organization that tries so hard to make these great devotion books available worldwide. Great easy resource for keeping myself reading the bible daily.
Bait and Switch 1/5
By Tiger Rok
This is a free download, not a free app, giving Upper Room a black eye for misleading information at best, misrepresentation at worse. Bad PR. Would have loved to have gone green, but instead will pick up a free copy at church.
Is this free? 1/5
By Pillow butt
I downloaded this app...but I thought it was free! I'm not able to open it at all..
Nothing about this app is free. Don't waste your time. There are truly free devotionals available. Might have subscribed had it not been misrepresented.
It isn't free. It is only an advert for a subscription! I was actually going to subscribe, though, but it's an automatic renewal deal, and I'm not doing that. Very disappointing!
Why advertise this as a free app? What you download is another advertisement for the $10 real thing! $10 is reasonable for The Upper Room - I like it's content. I just don't like the way it's presented as a free app when it's not!
By N8s Mom
Although I like the devotional, there are many things that could make the app better. For instance, it would be a great help if it came up to the current day when you opened the book. Adjustable font, choice of bible version, and a bookmark that truly works are only a few of the things that could make this better. As I said, I like the publication but I now wish that I hadn't spent $10 for it. Our Daily Bread is only .99 and does all the things that I wish this one did.
