I love this store. They have high quality merchandise at a fraction of the cost.
Don't Bother!!! 1/5
I sent 5 or 6 bags several months ago, and I haven't heard back from them. There was easily several hundred dollars worth of stuff. Lots of brand new things with the tags... still hasn't been processed, and therefore I never got any money. I'm starting to think I'm better off donating to Salvation Army...

Pleasantly surprised at the selection of some of the basic wardrobe items I was looking for. I will use thread up again soon!
All Around Good App! 4/5
This app has pretty much always has really cute things. There could be a couple other way in which they could narrow down the search and I have never sold to them, but I’ve over all happy with the app. Great company!
Shopping with ease 5/5
I love this app. I can easily shop from my phone. This includes shopping by category with filters for size, color, style, etc. The search and “find similar” features also work pretty well. The quality of clothing from ThredUP has been spot-on, too. The only things I’d like to change are having more filters for style (cardigan, neckline, waist) and making returns simpler to find.
Thredup love! 5/5

I'm so in love with this business online. I always find something I want! The packaging, the selling of my items, credit given fairly, everything is awesome and so much fun!!! I will always do thrifty business with thredup! They donate for you things don't sell. It's just a well run awesome experience!!!
Love the app and shop but pleaseeee no more pop ups to rate the app.
I LOVE thred up! Merchandise totally lives up to the descriptions and I’ve gotten some steals! Returning is a breeze too. My only return has been items that didn’t fit. Snagged 2 Kate Spade bags, and Tory Burch boots- should feel guilty bc I STOLE them! Highly recommend
Love it and hate it 4/5
I haven't sold anything to ThredUP, but I've bought A LOT from them.
The description of most of the clothes is usually spot on.
Sometimes they describe something as being qualified for "the basement" but I have yet to find out what that means. I've looked all over their website and can't find what that means, but I assume it's a product in pretty poor condition.
Returns are both great and a pain in the neck. They give you plenty of options and I've never had a problem getting my refund or store credit...but they take a long time to do it. I often return for store credit since I buy from them so much. They wait for the product to get back to them, and in my experience it takes a about a week even though I live one state over from where it's going. Once they receive it, it then takes another 5-7 days for them to put the credit on your account.
I wouldn't care about this timing so much, but your shopping cart expires every 24 hours. So, I'm literally waiting to hit purchase once my credit hits, but often times when I do several things have been moved out of my cart and are often already purchased by other people or in their cart.
When things are moved out of your cart, and haven’t been purchased by someone else, sometimes it's hard to re-find the item unless you marked it as a favorite. I'll often un-favorite and re-favorite something if it's something I intend to purchase soon just so I can find it easily.
Another bug is that with favorites you can sort by what’s currently a favorite or something that you marked as a favorite but is no longer available. Sometimes it’s things I’ve purchased. I think it’s safe to assume that if I’ve purchased it that it can be removed from favorites because if I return it I won’t want to buy it again. Also, I do like that they keep your favorite items marked even though they’ve been sold just in case they get returned, but I would say if it’s been sold for 30+ days, it’s not finding it’s way back so it’s ok to remove from the favorites automatically, but instead I have to go in and manually un-favorite something. Additionally, it would be nice to be able to sort my favorites by type of clothing (skirt, pants, shoes, etc.) but you can’t.
Other than that, love not spending a ton of money on great clothes! I mostly enjoy it, they just have a few bugs to work out!
Not happy 1/5
By Your sister cr
Horrible pay out $9.60 for a bag full of good condition clothes. Lots of good old navy and American eagle sweaters barely worn and bought within a year. I got rid of them because I lost weight. Very disappointed. I was better off selling each piece for $5.00 each at my church. Now I’m waiting to see what I get for my second bag. I sent them out together. I regret this so much.
Not high end , but decent 3/5
Thread Up is a great middle ground for previously loved items.
Unlike some apps, you will not find haute couture here.
I like using this for finding brands such as JCrew, Lilly Pulitzer , Tory Burch, etc.
I suggest searching by brand. Otherwise, you’ll get a lot of junk from places like Walmart and Target clogging your results.
I am beyond frustrated that I sent an entire bag of dress clothes in, and find out that my pay out is $4...this bag included Maurice's brand dress pants, Express brand dress pants, dresses, cardigans, blouses, etc. all for $4.. I won’t be using thredUP again.. 😤
I should have read closer... 2/5
Nothing for men here!
NOT HAPPY 1/5
I have gotten close with hole in then filled a complaint I have gotten no answer back!!!
Love Everything ❤️ 5/5
This is the best way to shop. So far I have have loved everything ❤️ items are very unique, have fitted perfectly, and make me so happy. I can’t wait for my package to arrive.
I’m hooked!!! 5/5
I heard about thredUP from my mom. She’s ordered clothing several times and was always happy with her purchases. I ordered 5 pairs of jeans and 2 pairs of shoes. So incredibly happy!!! They look brand new and fit so well. Quality clothing, excellent service and amazingly affordable prices! What more could you ask for? Thank you, thredUP. 🤗
Great way to shop but shipping is TOO SLOW! 2/5
Update: I used to love ThreadUp. But I think they are getting greedy with profits when they switched to slower shipping. Now it takes up to 15 days to deliver?! I’m in Seattle too, not a remote area. #threadup call your UPS or FEDEX rep and get Express shipping.
Save money, your time and the environment! I have a toddler so I have little to no time to shop. When I do I hate spending tons of money on things I may wear once. This is app is a life changer!
Drawbacks are the product photos could be better. Dim lighting does not allow for good viewing of the clothes and shoes. Wish I could sort out what I don't want instead of just what I want.
Need to fix referral link. I've referred this to several people who bought, but I did not get the credit they promised. I had to go request it.
Last, returns could be better. The last two times I have had to remind them to send me a return label.
Love this app! 4/5
I’ve bought several things from the app and I shop on it all the time. It’s intuitive and user friendly. Two things I wish: that you could have boards like on Offer Up and that it had all the same categories of clothing as the website, particularly the premium and designer options.

Sorry, that’s my two cents
#1 consignment store IMHO 5/5
ThredUP is not only the number one online consignment store but the number one consignment store PERIOD. Excellent selection. Awesome brands/designers. Something for everyone. Great deals. Easy checkout. Timely shipping. Cute delivery box and tissue paper. I can’t wait until they have a men’s selection on the app!!!
Takes forever to process order 1/5
They take forever to process order and then if you do happen to get paid anything they won’t release it to you. I sent in a order in early November and have yet to get paid for it yet even though they keep sending me messages that they have sold the stuff I sent them.
Seller Beware! 1/5
I have used thred-up for years, but for the past year I have been less than impressed. When I send clothes to them I don't get notifications or credits for months, yet there on the site was my Etro skirt. They had time to post it, but not time to notify me or send me a pay-out? I ordered a suit and I get an email that they don't have the blazer. I also recently bought a shirt that was mislabeled. It is a shame because I usually use my credits to buy other items so they are making money off me. I use to love it. I would not recommend them at this point.
Do not sell to them 1/5
Do not sell to them it’s insulting what you get for your clothes
65 day processing 1/5
I have used other sites similar to ThredUP for years. Started with eBay when it first started. About 4 months ago I ordered my first bag. Looked all the items over, made sure they met all the guidelines and shipped it. According to ThredUP it would take 65 days to process.
112 days later, they got the bag according to USPS and I've received no notice from them it was processed. Called and got the same advice a Buyer who left a review got "hang in there".
Not a good first impression.
11/11/17 update. Sent email to the one provided by ThredUP response the day after the commented on my review. Have not heard back from them via email as of today's date. Plus my bag has still not been processed.
11/18/17 update. Seems my processing date has moved again. Now site says my order will be processed by 12/18/17. So the 65 days to process is now 150+. What the fail to tell you is your order will process when they get around to logging the bag in. I would of done better donating the clothing to Goodwill or Savers, at least then I'd get a tax write off. Stay clear of ThredUP.
Total scam! Several brand new items with tags from Ralph Lauren and American Eagle. Only 1 item from first bag processed and .60 payout. 2nd bag had three items all processed for less than $1.40 each. 30 other items no payment on. Stay clear of this company. Take items to Goodwill, Salvation Army or Savers and get the tax right off.
Great concept but app is faulty and item descriptions are often wrong 3/5
I generally like buying from thredUP. I have found some great pieces here and the process is easy with free shipping and free returns if you take a credit. But the app crashes all the time and it can take a while for orders to arrive. Also, the filters on the app don’t always work - sometimes, adding a filter will cause MORE items to appear in the results, which makes no sense. Also, items are often categorized incorrectly so long-sleeved shirts show up in the short-sleeved category, J Jill items appear under J Crew, etc. I’ve also received several items that had damage (stains, bleaching, or even holes) that was not in the description. It’s also hard to see details in the photos on the app, so I’m often surprised when I receive an item and it looks totally different in person than it did in the photo.
Great find! 4/5
I love purchasing on this site. I’ve been very pleased with the products and selection and what I get for the money I spend. Like I’ve seen wrote elsewhere-the payout for selling is minuscule. And I also had a new pair of shorts with tag on it with the price showing and the “estimated retail” was lower than the tag price. Was upsetting as I felt a little swindled. Also-you can’t lower the prices of consignment items to entice people to buy them. I will certainly keep buying, but not so sure about selling.
Best Way to Shop Second Hand 5/5
Seriously this is where I buy 75% of my clothes. I’m 24 and I find great stuff for casual wear, modest church outfits, perfectly broken in jeans, going out outfits etc. I’ve never sold to them because my sister takes my hand-me-downs but I can’t imagine it wouldn’t go just as well.
Second hand clothing NOT FUN anymore 2/5
I have been a loyal customer for more than a year. I used to love this store and I have recommended it to several people that had actually purchased from it as well. However, I guess I wont be using them anymore cause they suddenly increased the prices even to the items that i had in my cart ready to check out. I had items originally worth $9 dollars that were increased to $19.99 without prior notice. I dont think this is a smart move for the company since most of its customers are actually attracted to the lower prices that they pay for second hand clothing, not brand news. From this moment on, second hand clothing from thredUp is not FUN anymore.
By Annoyed mom to be
I can’t understand this app. Prices seem fairly consistent... for awhile. Then all of a sudden dresses that were 11.99 are 18.99... wth. It’s like you get punished for shopping frequently?! This happened to me about a year ago, prices were slowly creeping up and up so I just quit shopping there. Came back after a several month hiatus and all seemed fine again, until now the same crap started again. NOT the way to encourage loyalty :(
Good concept, flawed execution 2/5
Love the idea of thred-up and the app. I place an order about once a month. It’s a very affordable way to do a wardrobe refresh.
However the app keeps crashing whenever I try to add or remove something from my cart. Because of thred ups unique concept, this is particularly frustrating since items can be difficult to relocate particularly if another user has swiped them up.
I also dislike the method by which coupon codes are distributed. They are announced once via push notification and the hidden within the app. So if you miss the push, you may have no idea there is a coupon code. Please make coupon codes more obvious within the app (like you used to do for the normal website--there was a banner along the top informing you if you had a coupon code.)
Also, returns take a rediculously long time to process (1.5 weeks to ship, 1.5 weeks to process) despite the fact that the website says returns will be processed within 2 business days of arrival... either speed up your return processing or update your website.
Update: the returns process appears to be sped up. Coupon codes are still an issue and extremely inconsistent (I will get a push notification with a 20% off code but the in-app coupon code will be for only 10% off). Also there’s a glitch now which does not allow me to place a return in the mobile app.
Upset about recent price increase 1/5
Prices increased dramatically (had a bracelet for $14 that went up to over $100) with no explanation and no response from customer service.
Love it!🤗💕 5/5
I personally love this service. I’ve seen ThredUP receive a ton of backlash because apparently they rip people off. I sent my bags in not expecting to get a dollar in return. I’ve made around $70-$80 after sending in two big bags. I could care less if my payout wasn’t what it should have been. I just wanted to get rid of all my clothes with tags. It does take awhile to process the bags, but I understand that what they do takes time, especially when they receive numerous clean out bags a day. I think the people who claim they were ripped off just didn’t read the table that tells you what amount to expect based on the item you plan to send in.
I also have purchased from ThredUP recently and couldn’t be happier. The packaging was adorable and everything was in great condition. Not to mention I purchased 10 items for only $60. What a steal! I love this site/service and highly recommend it to everyone!😊
Cheating sellers out of commissions and losing designer jewelry 1/5
Thred up just jacked up their prices on designer handbags by more than half. I wonder if the sellers were compensated? I have photos of the before (yesterday 12/1) and after (today 12/2).
They also “lost” a Tiffany necklace and matching earrings in their blue bags that I sent in last month. Still no response from customer service after requesting the item back (which I paid the insurance for).
Prices have doubled overnight 1/5
Several items I had marked as favorites have doubled in price just today. And many shirts that were originals sold for 12.00$ is up for sale for 19.99$. This is outrageous. Prices have doubled overnight.
Great for the environment and fashion for all! 5/5
Great service easy returns.
Good app 5/5
The app works well and makes buying a breeze.
Thoroughly enjoy this app!
Love the Idea! 4/5
I sent in my first ThredUp bag recently. Happy with my payout; still hoping some items accepted for consignment will sell too! Great to way to find new buyers for used items in excellent condition. Still looking to see if I want to purchase anything.
A scam 1/5
I never write reviews but felt like I had to for this one. I don't care what anybody else says, this company is just a scam. Sent in 10 pieces of brand new clothing and what did I get in return? FOUR DOLLARS, SEVENTY FIVE CENTS! FOUR. SEVEN. FIVE. Very shady company.
Used to be better, suffering growing pains now: B- 3/5
This is such a great idea and model for second hand clothing that I hope they will reverse a recent trend to expand at the cost of quality of merchandise, lower payouts for designer items, and what appears to be computerized customer service, made cutesy with exclamation points and emojis even when a complaint about defective merchandise was submitted. I have sold and bought with them many times over several years and they seem to be having trouble scaling up to a far larger, less organic operation. Somehow the ethos of the second hand market, which they certainly did not invent, seems to be eluding them in this more corporate phase. Fingers crossed that they will not lose their soul and moxie - it’s such a great model and i hope they will find their way back to being less about advertising and promotion and more about the quality of both trading and interpersonal transactions.
Really great way to recycle clothes and to keep up with kids growth and clothe them in great quality items that are out of reach at retail though.
Love love !! 5/5
Love to buy clothes for work because beautiful and in good condition mOst time for prices. Also buy clothes for going out too which are still good shape I love variety of colors styles etc
Great for both buying and selling!! 5/5
I’ve loved this app for awhile for buying from Thredup - generally happy with whatever I’ve purchased and I appreciate being able to make returns.
I’ve recently started selling on Thredup and I’m really impressed! Yes, the payout is low on “paid upfront” items so I take that into consideration when deciding what to send in. But the items taken for consignment have a good payout. Having used several other selling platforms I’m very impressed with the transparency of Thredup (in your account you can see exactly which items they’ve kept, how much they’re selling for, you can change their selling price, see how many “likes” each item is getting from buyers, what sells and when it sells, etc and you can transfer your sales to a prepaid visa without being charged an additional percentage, unlike other platforms). And I like the “return assurance” option. Yes I have some items that I choose not to send into Thredup for payout reasons but I’m VERY impressed with the site traffic and how quickly the items I send in to them, SELL!
I haven’t purchase in quite a while. When I logged on to the website it gave me a discount code. However when I tried to use it on the app it wouldn’t work. I went back to the website to search for my garment planning to check out directly from the website but my garment didn’t appear in the search.
Like I said confusion.
Basically a donation 2/5
I understand that companies are in business to make money. However just because something is not new does not justify the low payout. Sure they have shipping and overhead. But a retail outlet wouldn’t pay $.50-.75 for an item they sell to their consumer for $10-15+sh. Next time I’ll be donating locally. The good thing about thredup is that you don’t need to leave your house since the bag is mailed to you and then you give to postman/woman. I haven’t purchased anything from here so can’t comment on that aspect.

$7?! Really? 1/5
I sent a full clean-out bag with designer brand items and received $7 credit. Definitely will not be using this service again.
Ok for purchasing NOT selling. 2/5
By Winizzy 4392
I have made purchases and have been happy, though one item the zipper does not work. That came as a surprise to me because the items I sent to be sold were not even sellable according to ThredUP. All 3 items had never been worn and were hanging in my closet before I sent them. One jacket was in perfect shape never worn and it was rejected because there were too many in the category. When I looked in the category there were no jackets from Talbots size large petite.
My pay out was 17.35 for 13 items, all were brand names.
On my jacket with the broken zipper, I kept it because it was very clean and in good shape.
To buy items ok to sell, DO NOT DO IT, YOU WILL LOSE MONEY.
