So terrible, frustrating, and hard to use, that tears are streaming down my face as I type, and a large pile of my own hair rests beside me. Hair that was in place atop my head before I attempted to use this app. Whoever designed this, should be forced to use the “swipe” interface for any interaction - Ordering pizza, booking a flight, getting the car washed - I would love to see them attempting to navigate a keypad with this... good lord, it’s awful.

App is absolutely terrible.... is a real treat when it works which is very rare... TV is fine but the controlling of the tv “potential” benefits are non-existent... Hate controlling this idiotic TV, app is such a abortion.

I want you to know this app made me never buy a smart tv from Vizio again. I don’t care if the company changes how there smart TVs are set up. Just releasing a product this awful, makes me never want to give you my money again
I do not understand the bad reviews. This app has been very easy to set up and use. I can play almost any tv show or movie and it connects to my phone very well. Would definitely recommend

Seriously, I’m tired of dealing with your horrible app.
Great picture, crap audio, but the price was nice. Or so I thought. This app and my Vizio sound bar has me never wanting to buy another Vizio product again.
I have had to add my TV on the app probably 12 times now (not an exaggeration, it’s probably been more).
The fact that I have to have the app to do basic things like set up a sleep timer is beyond absurd.
Thanks for the horrible experience. I have enjoyed it soooooooo much.

It’s always a pain to control my tv with the app, and now you’re locking me out of the app forcing me to upgrade before I can turn off my TV to go to bed. On top of that my tv is having picture issues where the image looks stained and lucky me got this defective tv after the brand new one I purchased kept randomly shutting off. Every Vizio product I’ve owned has had issues. Never buying a Vizio product again.

This app won’t pair with my E65-E1. It only says “Connection failure”. The instructions in the app say to press the link button on the remote twice then follow the TV's on screen instructions. But nothing happens on the TV when I press the link button twice. All in all, between the TV and this app, a pretty bad experience.

Just getting started with smartcast, but 2/5
I know that I am on a learning curve, but I have to ask what this software is for; why not use the Vizio remote in the first place?
Also, when I use this application, there is a difference in what smartcast applications that I see on the iPhone and what I see on the tv when using the remote. For example Prime Video smartcast app is missing on the iPhone.
Is this a software error, or the result of what Apple will let one do with applications that are related to amazon?

Doesn’t connect anymore, regardless of which method I try. Even when it worked it was ridiculously overcomplicated. And what is up with no “previous channel” feature.

The VCast feature would be great if the app worked. It disconnects from my WiFi and doesn’t allow me to reconnect. Also, the app doesn’t function well.

I downloaded the App upgrade today. Now I’ve spent the last 90 minutes trying to reconnect my smartphone to the TV to view Youtube. I tried everything and it even told me that the phone and tv are indifferent networks. WRONG! Why did you ruin a good thing. And yes I watched the setup video!

I last updated the app in Nov 2017 and gave it two stars. I never had a consistent connection to the tv from my iphone although the free remote they offered provided the functionality that the app lacked. I have recently upgraded my internet to 100mbps and upgraded my old Wifi router to Google WiFi. I now connect without fail to the tv with this app. I’m not sure if my upgrades have fixed the issue or app changes have also helped. It FINALLY works like I expected when I bought the tv 11 months ago.

When I first bought my tv the app was a bit annoying and didn’t sync to my tv most of the time, but after the last update I’ve had no issues, I’d say using this app on my phone is much more convenient than the controller the tv came with.

I can't even use the app anymore since the required update. Already had to replace this pos TV once because two bulbs died 3 weeks into owning it. Now you can't even make a simple app work. Get it together.
Cannot connect to tv at all 1/5
They really need to fix this app. I can't connect to the tv with Bluetooth and while trying to connect with wifi, it'll just read an error message after saying "retrieving op address". I pay $800 for a tv that advertises this app and can't even use it. Absolutely ridiculous.

My tv came with a basic remote and I downloaded this app and all worked fine. Then the tv was updated and the app and now I can’t access tv or cast to it with either the app or remote rendering my tv useless!!! Crappppppp!!!! Come on vizio

I own a Visio 45 5.1 sound bar and sub/rear speakers. I cant tell you how many times I have had to reload the app because it couldn’t find the device on WiFi. The device is on and on my WiFi network but the SmartCast app simply cannot find it. It only shows my phone. It’s difficult to make adjustments to the bass, surround setting with the 5.1 remote and the app is easy to use but it just never works. Can Visio not hire a decent app developer? Their app is horrible.

At least I had volume up and down never mind none, and I mean nothing, nope, nada, none of the advertised reasons to get this sound bar ever worked consistently.
Now an update, and I have to sign in??? Why on earth does a remote control have to sign in? Good gosh I don’t care if the Russians, North Korea and Hillary Clinton can come over and turn my volume down. But right now I wish they would.
Hey guys, don’t ever listen to your wife when buying electronics. This isn’t the multimedia solution it should be. I would rather be water boarded than have to sign in on my phone to control the volume. I’m an electronics power user. I listened to my wife not wanting the custom floor speakers anymore. Don’t listen to women about electronics.
This app is a joke. Can’t even cast with this, it’s unusable. Can’t get past even naming my own device or registering the tv. My theory is that these two steps null the whole installation.

It needs some work. Sometimes it doesn't recognize my tv. Sometimes it won't interact with my tv properly. Sometimes I have to restart the app a few times before it works. Otherwise it's alright. Considering I lost the tv remote, i'm pretty thankful for it, even with the minor flaws.
I feel like every time it updates it breaks a little more. Like not awful when I’m desperate, but I don’t use it unless the remote is lost.

Never finds my tv. I have to reconnect it, then it works for around a minute. Then within five minutes of using it it doesn’t find my tv again. JUNK JUNK JUNK.
Return Your Vizio TV Now!!! 1/5
This is the most use this app ever written. You have to re-pair the device with the TV every other week. For no reason whatsoever, the app resets and loses the connection.
If it is not too late to return your TV, I strongly urge you to return your TV and buy one with a real remote that works.
I updated my firmware on another Vizio TV that I have, and it required me to get another remote. Of course, Vizio was all out of the remotes that were subsidized due to their ineptness, so I had to buy one from Amazon for $30. A complete and total rip off.
I will never buy another Vizio TV because of the experience I have had with the Vizio TVs that I own. The TV is not horrible, but the remote, and this app, combine to increase my level of frustration the point that I would be happy to pay much more for another brand of TV.

I have a 5.1 Visio sound bar. This app is useless. Doesn’t connect. When it does it says the power is off when it’s not. Won’t let me change any settings on the sound bar. The sound bar sounds great. The app is useless.

I have used and enjoyed my Visio TV for about two years. All of a sudden - due to an app update - my TV is no longer paired to the app and I can’t use the TV. Naturally I went through the pairing process all over again - something I should NEVER need to do just to use the TV - and this poorly done app is unable to connect to the TV. Uninstall, re-install, try again and again just to be able to watch this TV. Unbelievable. Do better, VIZIO!!

Don’t Buy a VIZIO 1/5
Extremely frustrated with my new VIZIO TV. I cannot smart cast anything onto the TV anymore because of this app. I cannot find my tv via Bluetooth or WiFi. This has greatly reduced the effectiveness of having a “smart” tv. The app always shuts off on its own and offers no help to fix the issue. I have a brand new 4K ultra HD tv, it should be new enough to SmartCast no problem.

The power button in the app to turn on the tv has no confirmation when you touch it! It should change color or flash or do sown thing so you know it registered your finger press. This gets very confusing when you turn on the TV from another room and you don't know if it registered your button press. Previous versions made this much clearer.
Also, I don't use Bluetooth for anything, and when I use this app on Wi-Fi it always comes up with a pop up asking me if I want to turn on Bluetooth and it's very annoying, you don't need to turn on Bluetooth to use this app as long as you're on Wi-Fi, there should be a setting to turn off notifications for blutooth so it doesn't keep prompting you every time you open the app when it's off.

I’ll never buy a Visio again. If the app isn’t working correctly, it’s near impossible to do anything manually on the tv. I’m tired of repairing the app with the tv when Vizio pushes out an app update. They need to learn app development
OK for what it is, but missing key features 3/5
It’s an app that lets you cast shows and control the settings of your TV—all well and good. But the app, along with VIZIO “Smart” TVs themselves are missing key features. For example, it should be easy for me to turn on/off my TV using the app. Seems like a basic feature. Take that a step further and build out an Alexa skill, and IFTTT integrations. Would take things to the level they need to be.
This app is becoming unusable. I don’t even Cast anything, I just want to plug in my PS4 and Apple TV. Please just simplify and make it more stable.

The app updated and the ability to adjust the audio (bass, treble, center channel, surround volume) on my sound bar and surround speakers disappears???? Where do it go?? Bring back the audio controls for the devices.

I’m forced to use this app to control the settings on my tv. That part is the easiest to use but I would request that the lip sync setting on the sound could be fine tuned a little better. My sound if off due to the need for a long cable but lip synch can only be set in whole numbers.
He cast app is horrible. Navigation can only be done with the touch pad which is backwards. Arrows would be a way better option.
