    Visio SmartCast TV was fine before the update. Now unusable 65” garbage while I wait 8 weeks for a remote that will work with the television. The app is garbage and does very little to fix the issues.

    $1000 for a tv but can’t get any connectivity to it. This app is atrocious. I’ve managed to connect it once but now it’s a constant connectivity fail. Troubleshooting is a joke. Menus spin and never actually open without restarting the app. I consider myself tech savvy. I manage a network of 50 PCs. I’m into day 2 here and I’m no further along. TV picture is great but if this TV is ‘smart’ then my previous TV must have been Einstein. My third Vizio Tv over the years but it will be my last.

    The app, the television, and my network do not like each other. In the month I have had the television, I have had to reinstall this terrible app three times. My network is fine with other apps, so this app is the problem. If I could find a way to work around it, I would.

    I recently bought a brand new Vizio television for my bedroom, as I have a newer (about a year and a few months old) Vizio in my living room that I really like. That one has the Smart TV function where you log in to your apps on the TV. I read how bad the reviews were of SmartCast but I bought this model of new TV anyway because I thought people were exaggerating. Boy, was I wrong. I have had so many problems with this TV, including randomly having to re-setup everything (settings, SmartCast, WiFi, accepting terms, etc) every few times I turn on the television. My final straw was tonight I tried to watch a movie on one of the pre-installed apps (one you don’t have to play on your phone and cast it to the TV). I got about an hour in and I lost my WiFi connection. I restarted my WiFi about 5 times before I gave up as the problem persisted. Just for laughs I decided to go see if it would work on my other tv. It did, and I wasted 2 hours trying to fix my WiFi when it was my stupid TV and stupid SmartCast the whole time. Bottom line, if you’re gonna get a new Vizio, GET ONE WITHOUT SMARTCAST.

    Just updated my iPhone 5s to the last iOS 11 series,and installed this app to utilize all features on my new vizio smart cast TV and works great with no problems,if you follow the on screen instructions and have wifi. Also thanks Vizio for updating my TV to the more expensive version and sending free very cool remote.

    I will not use this app. Just downloaded it minutes ago, and went to open and it tells me it needs to be “upgraded” and to go to the App Store to do so. So I go to the App Store, and I find no upgrade - just an “open” button. It’s an endless circle. Now deleting this pile of crap from my phone.

    I hate that I wasted my money on this dumb tv. What a waste of time and money spent trying to watch anything. Talking to customer service is a waste as well.... try to tell you how awesome it is to download hundreds of apps in order to watch what you want. Use my phone memory in order to use my tv?! Ummmm no. Don’t buy this tv.

    It tries to do everything and actually does nothing. I’ve had it installed for close to a week after I installed my new tv and it’s not really worth keeping. I’ve definitely tried to use it, it’s way easier not too. I can see why they gave up on the only casting strategy - I think it probably would have succeeded if the app was better.

    Every single day i struggle to use this app It freezes and it won’t work well!! I regret buying this TV :( It’s been like 5-6 months that i bought it and i had to exchange the TV because it wouldn’t work. But now the app which is the control that i have to use won’t work!!!😣😒 Please improve it!!!!

    After recent update 4551 sound bar always turns off night mode by itself when sound bar is turned off. Please fix this. It's annoying to have to adjust this every time I use my TV. Makes no sense for the soundbar to not retain this setting.

    This app is useless. Shame on Sony for even putting your name on this garbage. Add 5 dollars onto your tv and provide a remote that has more functions than volume and channel controls. I feel like all your products are getting cheap and will no longer buy, maybe you should remember that it is a consumer driven market......bye bye Sony

    This app should be handy. And it would be if you could do things like enter characters like @ and a period. Little things that are necessary when entering an email address. This is the level of quality these people devote to their products. This will be the last Visio TV I ever plague myself with again.

    Took a minute for me to navigate the ‘remote’ portion of the app, but once I did everything fell into place. Very fun in fact. I can choose a plethora of apps to project on my tv and I don’t even need to be in the same room.

    I’m going to have to return my tv because I can’t cast a thing. It constantly disconnects and I have paired it probably 100 times. The app is slow and touchy I can’t use my tv for anything now. Disgusted. What a waste.

    There are no options in the app for my sound-bar any longer. Prior to the update I had adjustments for everything, now only volume up down and mute. This is a very bad update and should not have been done. I may return the sound bar as this renders it totally ineffective.

    Bought the TV, and lost the remote in a move shortly after. Thought no problem we will download the app. The app wants access to my location and phone info. It also takes forever to turn on the tv and load up. The designers and programmers of this app should be fired. It’s so bad my wife and I don’t want to be the app/remote holder.

    I was able to throw my Spotify up on top of my friends YouTube but when I want to stop Spotify and put is you to back it was gone.It’s probably my fault because I didn’t read all the way through I was just trying to find something to control the audio on the TV to begin with thank you for your time

    I bought my very expensive 70’ tv because I have owned their TVs before and loved them. But this app is junk. There is a update every other week and each time the app updates u have to re-add and configure the app for ur tv. It doesn’t keep the settings ... I can’t enjoy my tv because of this app ... should have spent $200 more for the Samsung or LG tv

    Every time I see an update on this app I get excited because I think it is going to get better, but it is not, this thing gets worse with every update. Vizio should hire new programmers and try to make this app a decent one. Was unable to connect to my tv and had to reset it to factory setting because it just wouldn't work. Wish I could return it. Will have to buy a google chrome cast device to make my life better with this tv.

    I have owned the P-series tv since the spring of 2017 and this app has never connected to the tv from my iPhone 6s on anything close to a consistent basis. The included android tablet connects great. So I don't know if it is an iOS app issue vs android. When I open my Sonos app it always connects via my wifi. Why can't the developers get this to do the same thing? I like the tv and have owned vizios for a long time. I'm rooting for them to get this right but keep being disappointed after every update. On the other hand the free remote I ordered from their website was exactly what I wanted from them and works great. Order the remote if you can!

    App doesn’t work. Barely ever links to my Vizio and when it does it drops the link a few minutes into watching. I can never cast anything in its entirety. Watched all the tutorials. Nothing seems to work. Worthless and frustrating.

    When I try to cast using the app from YouTube or a cast app my TV won’t pop up. I don’t know what’s going with this app but it’s ridiculous, I’ve even called the tech people and they tried to walk me through the same steps I already know. I know exactly how to cast but my TV isn’t showing up when I try to cast from a cast app. At one point it let me but now it doesn’t and I am upset about it!

    This app will not connect to the tv, whether it is via Bluetooth or a WiFi network. You would have a better investment in another tv if you are interested in streaming or really any other function. Customer service is an absolute joke.

    For as much as I love my tv, the SmartCast app is absolutely terrible. The layout is poorly designed and the control features are not easy to access. The best way I would describe the poor functionality of the app is that it is not user friendly and it is not intuitive. I would highly recommend making the remote feature more of a focal point of the application. Streaming content to mobile devices is neat, but why do I want to watch on my phone when I’m in front of my TV? Make the TV settings and remote control a focal point and redesign the layout to be user friendly and intuitive.

    I bought a Visio TV because I had helped a friend buy one last year and he loved it. I remember it being different and it actually came with a remote you could use for everything. Now, a virtually useless remote comes with the TV and they “send you a free one” which is supposed to take 2 months to get here. As far as the SmartCast goes. The app is terrible and the quality of whatever you watch using the app was terrible. I went out and bought a universal remote so I didn’t have to ya emu phone. Comes to find out that if I want to use the YouTube or HBO app I have to do it on my phone. It may be convenient for some but it’s absolutely ridiculous. I just don’t understand it. Thankfully, I already had the Roku stick which I absolutely love. I’m incredibly disappointed with Visio because they are forcing people to use this ridiculous app. It is to hard to ask for a smart tv that connects to the internet BUT YOU DONT HAVE TO USE THE PHONE TO CONTROL IT or if you’re gonna have us use a phone make sure the app is flawless.

    After many months of frustration with our vizio display, I went on the website to chat again with Vizio. I found that there is a new remote you can order. I ordered the remote then tried to update the software on the tv. My tv said it was up to date, but the software version showing was not the most current available for the display we own. I followed the instructions to download the software update onto a usb Drive. I inserted the drive into the usb slot on the display, downloaded it, and kaboom, problems solved. We were ready to return the display to Costco as defective, that’s how many issues we were having. We invested in a 4 k DVD player, a 4 k tuner and every time we played a move the picture would repeatedly drop out. I am thrilled now that 10 months have gone by and everything is working. Try to force the software update on your TVs , people, see if that helps. P.S. the new remote is much better. I honestly prefer to the 6 inch display remote that came with the 65 inch display. We are actually looking at another vizio hat sams is putting on their one day sale 11/11

    I’d like to use this app. In fact I have to use this app to access the setup menus on the TV, which is being used as a computer monitor in my workplace. But I can’t, because the process for pairing the tv with the app assumes that connecting the tv to an internet-connected WiFi network is an integral step. But there is no WiFi network here that is Internet connected. Stuck at that step unable to complete setup. Why couldn’t they have included a “menu” button on the TV or the remote?

    I bought the TV a year ago, and ever since the update in which I have to use this app to control what I cast to my TV was implemented I can’t stream a thing. I bought two TVs, a Samsung and a Visio. Had NO problems with the Samsung. Should have just spent the extra and bought two Samsung’s. I’m super disappointed in this product.

    I tried setting up with iPhone 7Plus using this app. Nothing happens during process where phone is suppose to “speak” to tv when placed near corner of screen. My 75in 4K as a tv works fine without the app set up. But its remote looks and feels like a cheap toy. Power button requires holding the button for 5 or more second just to turn it on. Even then it’s only successful 1 out of 3 or 4 times. Brand new battery. This tv is also technically a Display which lacks a tuner. This required purchase of a tuner to watch over the air digital channels. Finally, the SmartCast apps are limited and quality of image pales in comparison to Apple TV, not to mention the new Apple TV 4K. For example, watching Netflix through VIZIO SmartCast app is miles behind watching it through the Apple TV Netflix App. The Roku is far better than SmartCast as well.
