Never works. It connects then if you leave the house it's impossible to reconnect. You have to delete the app then start again. One reason I bout the TV was for this "cool feature". The fact is, it doesn't work and having an Apple TV is far better. I might take the TV back and buy something else.
Vizio TVs used to be so good! I don't know what happen but the newer models and the SmartCast app is TRASH!!!

Every time i play a youtube video through the youtube app, then switch to the smartcast app, it takes at least 5 seconds for the controls to even work. Then it works for a second before a popup at the top of the screen minimizes the remote control to show me a progress bar for the youtube video. This feature would be cool if it was implemented into the top without minimizing the remote. However, because it minimizes the remote, its a terribly annoying feature. If i put on a youtube video with my phone late at night, and dont have the remote near me, i'll want to quickly turn the volume down to not wake people up. Unfortunately, the app minimizes the volume control when i open it. Also, sometimes the volume button glitches and turns it up all the way. If i want to make small volume adjustments late at night, the app cranks up the volume to max and wakes my whole family up. I decided to quit using the app because it barely works. Its too glitchy and poorly designed.

I downloaded the app again and tried connecting to the wifi network. I've tried for two days and so far I've been unsuccessful. My wifi is working with every single device in my house except this one. I never had this problem before and I don't know why it's doing it now. Please fix, I would like to watch my Netflix.

I have to delete, re-download, and re-setup every two days. It takes ten to fifteen minutes because they ask me to re-register my product every time. This had to be created by a 5 year old with ADHD on lsd.

Definitely the weakest TV and speaker maker in the consumer goods 1/5
It is the most colorful and at the same time most useless application ever. I wasn't able to connect any Vizio device. They make above average TVs ok. But their software setup understanding is from the medieval times. It has been like this since their beginning of the business. It is like they have these old fashioned IT employees who found good resting place for retirement. I don't expect much from them now and in the future. Also, they don't care much about the feedback. I love you guys.

Recently a message appeared for a free remote to exit the message you had to press the left or right arrow keys but they were not present in the app on my iPhone.

Over the past year I have had a love/hate relationship with this app. In the past few months it has been very stable with connecting to the TV after each update. Giving it 5 stars because I suggested an feature improvement. Literally 2 weeks later I saw that my TV firmware had been updated and with the update of the app my suggested feature was there!

I bought a Vizio sound bar. This app was supposed to act as the remote. Seems you can find a million things on this app except the remote! ( did find sound controls but they are well hidden)

This app is broken and needs a update!!!! It is a very useful app but it won't let me pass the "connect with wifi" section. It lets me connect to my network but then it makes me try to connect to another network too. It won't let me continue to the next step without connecting another network. I can't use the tv unless this is fixed!!!! Please fix please

Stop moving things around in the app. Relearning your the app is not helping! Please fix this. Visually the TV is awesome. App is killing the experience. Put the Picture size slider back where it was.

According to the Box, this App was supposed to convert my iDevice or Android Device into my remote. It was supposed to have replaced the remote that was included with the Display. The remote included with the Display was a minimum functionality remote. I was Assuming this App would have all the same functionality as this original remote, if not more. My bad, what the H3ll was I thinking?
I really don't care for Swiping my finger in the Gray Box to navigate the SmartCast. Always seems as if it perceives my swipe as a tap. I'm then swiftly taken to the App I supposedly tapped on. No, my iPhone isn't set to be that sensitive, my other Apps work just fine!
Just one more Remote for the pile! Luckily I can use my iPhone as a phone!
The App is a great idea. Just needs a lot of work to be a Great Remote! Don't give up on the idea, just make it the App what it should be!

This app is one of the most frustrating apps I've dealt with. They give you a 5 step set up to connect this app with a sound bar and then say to follow the remaining instruction on your phone. So when it doesn't pair or give a Temporary wifi connection then what??? Oh yeah, they don't give troubleshooting options for this; and that is idiotic. Overall a Horrid app. Save yourself from the frustration of a 30-60 minute, infuriatingly aggravating time span. Oh and this is my fourth time downloading this app. Somehow I got it working on one of those occasions and feel it should work again, right?? Don't count on that...

This app has great potential, but still needs a lot of work in my opinion. For example, while casting content through secondary apps(Netflix, Hulu, etc.) the app will randomly lose track of the content, and behave as if there is nothing being streamed. This leaves the user with no ability to pause, seek or even stop the content being streamed. As far as I can tell, the only fix for this is to turn off the tv and restart the app. Also, the app and tv quite often can't communicate despite being less than 10 feet from each other. I also feel it should be addressed that the app has a list of "free" movies, but when selected the movies only have a free trailer, and must be rented if you want to watch them. I don't mind having to rent a movie to view, but don't list it as free if you're going to charge me to watch it.
Just doesn't work. No help. Lame videos in place of help.

Still a POS. Worthless. Never can link. Loses (forgets) TV. Why do I have to re-set up a new device every time I want to set the sleep timer. Breaking news, I use the Monitor for more things than smart-casting. Give me back a useful real remote. Only one star because I can't give it a zero star.

I got the tv and the remote that comes with it is pretty worthless especially considering this is a smart tv. You can't even use it to navigate. It tools several attempts over many months to actually get the tv to correctly pair with my phone. That is really my only problem with the app. Once I get it connected properly all my apps stream to the tv pretty consistently and the remote section of the app is fine for navigating through the streaming apps on the tv. The interface for navigating with the app is a bit cumbersome but not terrible.
Definitely some room for improvements with this.
Works great. I like that you set up to only see the channels you want to use most often. Also like the watch list so you can know when new shows start.

Half the time, this app (corresponding with the TV) hardly ever works and I have to constantly reconnect my TV with it in order to cast anything. Developers, fix this, or many people are going to be without Vizio Smartcast systems because they're so non-user friendly.

The app does what it's supposed to do at a basic level, but the interface is confusing. There's no page for launching apps (or I couldn't find it). There's no iPad support, which is weird since some of their TVs shipped with tablets for controllers. The casting process is also confusing to set up, even though I eventually figured it out so I could use Chromecast. Lastly, I can't figure out how Xfinity works with the app or if it works at all.

Invasion of customer privacy 1/5
Agreeing to the terms and conditions of this app means that Vizio can change the software on your television anytime they want to whether you like it or not. You can choose to decline the terms and conditions however that means you cannot connect your TV directly to the Internet. This is not in the best interest of the consumer but is the way that that Vizio can market things to you at their will. Be warned using this app and agreeing to these terms surrenders your privacy to Visio.
I'm constantly having to pair the app remote over and over again. It won't stay connected.
