Wifi does not connect 1/5
I have the app running to connect to my wifi. Everything else on my network (15+ appliances) take less than a minute to connect. This has been running for more than 5 minutes. Plus once you say cancel it starts all over again. Are you telling me that it cannot save any of the information I have already entered?!?! So needless to say casting to the TV is a fail.

When you update the app why not make it work like the replacement remote. It would save you a lot of money from having to ship out replacements. The swiping square is a little iffy sometimes. Overall a good app as a work in progress.
I’m convinced Vizio hires chimps to code for them. Pushing out update after update after update and with each update incredibly, becomes worse. Get your act together. Stop using the public as your beta testers. It’s annoying and frustrating.

Latest firmware update ruined it! 1/5
Okay, turned on my Vizio today, it says we need to order a new free remote because we need left, right, up, down arrow keys and our current remote doesn’t have them. Wow, that’s a first... went to the link provided in the tv dialog, on my iPhone, entered the code, and lots of other info about what we paid and where for the tv... finally, it says the new remote has been ordered, expect it to ship in 8 weeks! Lol. This is pretty sad. I’m a tech guy, so I’m laughing, but concerned at the same time. The website says in the meantime use our iOS and Android SmartCast apps. I’m like okay, cool. Went to the AppStore and got the free smartcast app which was rated pretty poorly, but I’m like let’s try it. The app looks okay at first, but has 0 directions, it’s supposed to be a remote but has no remote functionality immediately, you have to add your tv via a menu option at the bottom of the scroll panel. I turn on my tv to pair it with the app.. the tv dialog now says, congrats your new tv remote has been ordered (yeah, 8 weeks)... to close the dialog it says click RIGHT arrow... I don’t have a right arrow remote yet? It shows a picture of the smartcast app with arrows... after I get the app paired with the remote and try to figure out where the frigging remote controls are located (again no directions at all and not intuitive at all), there are no arrows. I click, flick, touch, swipe and the tv changes color, size, contrast, sound, and everything but closing that modal dialog that sits on top of everything on the tv screen! Finally, after literally trying everything, the dialog closes... I have no idea how or why. The remote will now allow navigation up and down and sideways to select apps like Hulu, Netflix and so on. It’s clunky and not easy. Can’t believe a firmware update made this tv nearly unusable. Why would they make people jump through hoops for a firmware update without good directions (at the very least). Never seen anything like this! Did anyone review this process before shipping this update?
After getting a hold of customer service and resetting my surround system, it is work better. The app is a bit more convenient as well.

A little disappointed I can't airplay content from any app other than what Vizio "approves", I understand they want to stop piracy and that's great that they work with so many companies, but I want to be able to cast a video from safafi.
I will be in big trouble if I lose the physical remote! This app doesn’t work when trying to pair my smartcast vizio 3.1 soundbar to my phone. I have an iphone 7 with the latest iOS software. The bluetooth works but I am unable to control my soundbar with my phone. Vizio plz update your videos! Really disappointed:(
CALL VIZIO AFTER UPDATE! 4/5
I updated the app as well and the functionality of my phone as the remote no longer worked. All I had to do was a power cycle on the router (unplug it for 10 seconds and plug it back in) the app then worked just fine, although you have to click the bar at the bottom of your screen. But the real reason to call is to get the new free remote. It takes 4-8 weeks to get to you but it's free. And the app still works. Many thanks to Adam from South Dakota!

I have to agree with the other reviews on here. Visio should’ve never done an update where the app can’t even support the TV. The TV did an update and you get a notification with the code to order your new (Free)TV remote that they will send you but yet this app can’t even get rid of the notification screen for you to be able to continue to watch your TV (streaming) bad timing horrible app

This is a joke. I spends hundreds of $$$ for a TV that I can only control via this app that doesn't work right. I was forced to Update the app and now there is no volume control. Tell everyone you know don't buy a Vizio TV. What a waste of money! Totally dissatisfied!
Smart TV? More like dumb TV 1/5
Picture and sound quality is good on the Vizio “smart” tv but that’s about it. It’s not even a smart tv without this horrible app. The app won’t stay connected to the tv. Half the times it’s impossible to stream Netflix or Hulu to my tv because it simply won’t connect to those apps either. I said screw it and bought a roku to hook up to this tv because this app and the connectivity issues are so bad. Luckily the tv was a Black Friday special and didn’t cost me much, but I would not purchase again or recommend.

Had high hopes for this TV but it’s absolutely trash! Everything evolves around the app which doesn’t seem to ever connect to the tv. The remote can only turn the tv on and adjust volume and input. Zero settings. Can’t put of sleep mode or adjust anything.
The app never seems to connect to the tv. When you finally can connect the streaming for Netflix, YouTube, sling etc is awful with static. It looks like the tv is flashing on and off. I’m forced to use a firestick with the TV to make it somewhat useable. The only time it works consistently is when using a video game console.
I’ll never buy another Vizio product again.

So frustrating to see such possibilities with such poor performance. You have to survive the first blotched minute them MAYBE, and that is a big MAYBE you can actually listen to a song. Then your next song comes on and back to the same nonsense
Yet another failed update. In fact with so many updates it prevents me from using this app on a regular basis due to having to resync EVERY UPDATE. So I keep the app just to laugh at the poor people that still struggle in vain to use the app and to make sure to write current scathing reviews. Which turns out to be more than I have time for since there are updates are more frequent than having to use the bathroom. If you do decide to give this a go and ignore all the negative reviews please take the time to gather all your frustrations about the spoiled kids, the money hungry wife, the dog you didn’t even want in the first place... AND this badly written app and release it all in one terrible review warning everyone else to STAY AWAY!!

Does not allow PlayStationVue TV provider login! Please add! Why isn’t this integrated with the Apple provider login UI?
Needs Landscape View & a streaming content source list. There should also be an app-wide filter showing all FREE content only!!! Also a filter to show only Dolby Vision 4K content only!!!
Also really needs an Apple Watch app, and HomeKit compatibility! A macOS app would be nice or a web-based interface from the computer.

Disconnects all the time. 80% of the time it can’t find either of my two TVs. Sometime, cancelling the search makes it magically work. It’s incredibly frustrating and unreliable. I have two vizio TVs with one more on the way. I’m beginning to get buyers remorse.

It would be nice then when you advertise a television that can play Netflix, it should play Netflix. Not conch out every four minutes with an excuse page. And trust me, I have tons of bandwidth. Awful app with buggy streaming, no real remote control (app based), and can't deliver on what's promised? This is one terrible app for a terrible TV

It’s responsive and does exactly what it’s meant to do. Finally. It finds your device. Links with it. Detects whether it’s already on or off. All the features work. Please, please don’t screw with it. I saw you updated to 1.1.62…we’ll see how it goes.

Needs to add airplay 2 support 3/5
The app in its current state is okay, it crashes often but for the most part it does its job. Really think it would be much better if Vizio rolled out an update for airplay 2 at least to its sound bars instead of having to use Bluetooth.

Wish I could leave '0' stars. The idea of having your phone run the tv is great....if it worked. Does not include a 'full function' remote for those who want a no fuss-no phone option. So my guests have to have my phone to make the tv work? Apparently the remote is something you can buy separately? My smart tv should have been smart enough to include this remote.
The app is worthless. Stuck with this product now, but will NEVER buy another vizio.
All I want is a TV that works with my DVR and my DVD. My TV does neither right now.

OK for what it is, but missing key features 3/5
It’s an app that lets you cast shows and control the settings of your TV—all well and good. But the app, along with VIZIO “Smart” TVs themselves are missing key features. For example, it should be easy for me to turn on/off my TV using the app. Seems like a basic feature. Take that a step further and build out an Alexa skill, and IFTTT integrations. Would take things to the level they need to be.

This app never connects to my TV. When I try to connect I have Bluetooth and WiFi on. It says bluetooth is off and will not reconnect to my TV. So now I can’t change and settings and basically just stuck with a TV without a remote. Pointless app.

Bought tv in January and Visio updated the tv software. My original remote no longer works and you can’t find a remote on the app to accept the terms and conditions on the tv software rendering vcast useless. Vizio come on add a remote in your app so I can still use my tv.

This app wasn’t that great to begin with but the recent update is just garbage. Removed the connected devices and had to set them up again, but it no longer allows for configuration of the sound bar and I can’t control the volume through the app.
