App is not working... 1/5
I have restarted my phone to make sure it’s not just my software. But the app still won’t work and I have a brand new phone with updated software. Really frustrating.
Error retrieving data 1/5
I just downloaded the app on my new Apple iPhone 8+ and it cannot retrieve my data. I use this app daily. Please help.
Easy to use! Every aspect of this app keeps me motivated! I love that I can create my own goals. The articles and spark feed provide fun and useful information. Spark point are a great way of keeping me on track.
Too Much 2/5
Too much work to record everything which discourages me rather than help. Installing this app also triggers a flood of emails, meant again to be encouraging, that seem like spam and pushiness instead of support.
The Beginning of my journey to health! 5/5
As with all new things you need time before you can give a true assessment!
This is my first day using this app and it will take time to see if it provides all that it offers. I gave 5 stars in hopes that along with many other members it will meet my/our expectations. So as 2017 has passed quickly I will give a mid- review along with a final in October of 2018, trusting that wit guidance, hard work, I will be a healthier me!!! cindiakanani 👍🙏
Nice app, great company 4/5
App has asked me for my goals repeatedly. It’s like there’s some kind of glitch. Very annoying otherwise fantastic and it would have gotten 5 stars.
Great app... 3/5
For the most part, I enjoy this app, however, I don't feel as though it adequately represents or translates the website into a user-friendly app. I love SparkPeople and all they stand for, I just wish all of the features on the website were readily available and easily accessible within the SparkPeople app. I also would like to see a SparkPeople.tv app featuring all of the exercise videos they have on that website. They are not all on YouTube.
Almost good 3/5
Most of this app's functionality is decent... except that so many foods are labeled incorrectly. I basically have to custom enter every single item I input.
It may make paying for MyFitnessPal Premium worth it.
Great App! 5/5
I’ve used the website off and on for years. Love the app and how easy it is to track my food, water, and exercise. Community engagement is good too. I’m using the free version. There is a premium version too. Wish there was a way to correct nutrition info for foods I scan but information is wrong.
Love this it 5/5
This app is so easy to use. I tried other apps before this one and was disappointed. So happy to have found SparkPeople
No sugar? 4/5
By Brawby A fissure
Love the app but why doesn't it track sugars?
Needs work 3/5
By Veronica Anne W.
The ads are annoying.
And the app doesn't properly sync with the iOS health app so my step/walking distance for the day is never tracked correctly inside the SparkPeople app
Won’t stay logged in 4/5
Really like the App as a companion to the full online version. However, having to constantly login on my phone is a pain in the butt. Once logged in (whether on my phone or computer) I should stay logged in. Very annoying. Makes me want to use the App less.
Love it 5/5
I highly recommend the sparks people app! It is easy to use and has many motivational articles and community support to help you on you journey to healthy eating.
App not working 3/5

Linking other apps 2/5
Wish this linked up with MapMyFitness and MyFitnessPal. I have a notification but I need to shift through the profile, blog, community feed, and posts to find out where it is.
I like the app otherwise!
It's okay- could be better. 3/5
First problem- almost every time I open the app I have to sign in. Not the biggest deal in the world, but damned annoying.
Second- the UI is too complicated.
App crashes every time I use it 1/5
By #1 News Junkie
This is so disappointing. I tried to track my lunch calories as I was sitting in the restaurant and it kept crashing. I restarted my iPhone and same thing. I can’t even use it, and I want to!
Might be great if it worked 1/5
Can’t get the app to accept my login or password even though I set up an account. Useless.
The best low cal recipes ever! 5/5
I enjoy cooking some of their recipes!!
Not updating stepa 2/5
Hasn't automatically updated steps to server since I started using his app; have to hit the refresh button to get it to register steps, however even refresh stopped working over last two weeks. Only doing this for work, but if it doesn't count my steps it's worthless to me
Really like the tracking/logging of food and exercise! Like that it helps visualize your daily limit of calories and calories burned.
So grateful! 5/5
A friend told me about Spark People and I am so thankful. It has helped me so much to track my food. It really is working for me. I have lost 32lbs so far and have at least 32 more to go, but I now know that I can do it!

i love this app and use it daily... when it's working it's a 5 star app for sure... but lately it's been slow and crashing and super buggy... what's going on??? it's so annoying and i'm about ready to find a different app that i don't have to close and open 6 times just to add a meal!!! is this gonna get fixed soon??? i hope so!!!!!
Great use, could use some streamlining 3/5
By Navigationally Challeneged
I really like the concept of this app and it's pretty easy to use. I wish it was even easier to use by being able easily upload nutritional information from restaurants webpages into the app. At the moment, I have to sit down and manually add each nutritional fact from their website into a new template. It would also be great to be able to create a recipe without having to figure out my own nutritional facts. ..if I enter 1c milk, 1/2 medium banana, and 1/2 cup dry old fashioned oats as a single smoothie recipe, it would be nice to have the nutritional information updated automatically for that recipe rather than having to input each ingredient as a separate item on my daily meal. Tracking calories is already frustrating and time consuming and cut out seconds to minutes of time for each meal input makes for a better and better experience and will keep me WANTING to use this app in the future.
I hate that there's a premium mode now 1/5
This app used to be great but now I can't get half the reports unless I pay $20 to upgrade to premium. I don't want premium and I don't think data export costs SparkPeople enough to charge everybody $20. Oh but you won't see ads, I don't care about ads, I'll watch em all day, not sure how people could be so bothered by them that it's worth $20 to turn them off. Just ugh!
I want my money back. 1/5
I didn't purchase an app to have to have advertisements all over the app that discourage the use of some of the functions that I was looking for for the app in that case I would just login online on my phone.
Great site 5/5
This site is the best site for inspiration and motivation.
User friendly 5/5
This is very useful, I've been using it for years and it gets better over time. Just about every food on the planet has been entered by somebody by now. The recipe part is a bit clunky but food groups are handy for things like your smoothie or your favorite taco salad or whatnot. The app integrates with Apple Health, which is cool. I wish apple health would push info back to Sparkpeople about the exercise it recorded from other apps. Maybe someday. The social media feed is pretty motivating, too.
SparkPeople calorie goal might be too high for you 3/5
The daily calorie goal set by SparkPeople might be too high for some people, and SparkPeople's goal is the only goal used in the daily comparison charts, thus making the comparison charts inaccurate. Keep reading to see how to get around it. When I was not using SparkPeople I lost 10 pounds. I started using SparkPeople, and I started gaining weight. I modified how I use SparkPeople,
and I am losing weight again. My mistake that caused the weight gain? Several times a day I glanced at the screen that tells me how many calories, and grams of carb, protein, and fat I have left for the day to meet the daily goals. That little chart is what I used to see how I was doing as my day went along to adjust my food intake for the rest of the day. My mistake was in not realizing that the comparison chart compares my recorded food intake to goals set by SparkPeople itself, not to the calorie goal I created for myself in the app when I started using the app. The calorie goal set by SparkPeople is about 200-300 calories too high (using the low end) for my body's actual needs. I have a health condition that lowers my daily calorie need. So be it, I can still lose weight, but inadvertently using the goal creates by SparkPeople made me stop losing, and slowly start gaining weight. When I studied the daily comparison chart more closely to see why I had started gaining weight, I was shocked that my own self created goals weren't being used in the comparison chart. Ahhhh, I understood why my weight loss had stopped. Now, I completely ignore the SparkPeople chart that tells me how many calories I have left for the day. Instead, throughout the day, I look only at my self recorded calorie intake total (and I compare it only to my calorie goal I set in my mind). I also use the circle graph throughout the day that shows me the percentage of carb, fat, and protein in my self recorded calorie intake. The circle graph helps me know what type of food (more protein, less carb, etc.) I should eat for the rest of the day to meet the percentages for carb, fat, and protein. (The percentages are correct for my body, but the absolute totals of calories and grams of protein, fat, and carb are not). Now, using the app in this new way, I am losing weight again at the rate I intended. For the record, I am a dietitian with decades of experience in recording food portion sizes, and knowing food specifics that might affect weight changes.
Took some time to get comfortable but it's cool now.
Works great! If you have the willpower. 5/5
By Ryan C. N.
I've always been too lazy to write down calories and track everything I'm doing and similar things. It's really nice to have everything I need right here. The only catch is that you have to follow through with stuff, or else it's useless.
SP is great 5/5
I love the support and feeling of community at SP!! I have made great friends from SP.
We used to be able to edit what we would eat from the menu plan when there was something I didn't like. If I wanted to change it I could choose an option or do my own thing but now I don't see how I can do it bc there's no option for me to do that anymore. Did that change?
The Spark People app is so user friendly!!! It makes it so easy to connect w/others trying to improve their health!
This app doesn't jive well with the website. They look and are different and it's not easy to sync.
Best out 5/5
By Trenton in the block
Best app to loose weight. Period.
Great App 5/5
Try it and enjoy the ride.
Love love love!!! 5/5
I use the website on a computer as well as the app. It's all completely free! There is so much support! I love the feed, everyone is so supportive and post about their healthy choices which is so encouraging. When someone posts their struggles you can play the supporter and it really helps your own journey. I also post blogs with my progress and it has been the best. Lost 5 inches off my waist so far using this app!
Outstanding app 5/5
This app makes keeping track of goals and choices easy and almost fun!
Awesome app 5/5
Great app for keeping track of weight food and diet.
Love it 5/5
Good app. I have been using spark people for many years. I have tried other app but the improvements are always good and it's the most comprehensive app out there. If lifestyle change is what you are after this app is it.
Love this the best! 5/5
I love this the best out of all the diet apps I tried. The community feed is my favorite it's like being on Facebook! Everyone is positive and the motivation is really high. If you are down or feel like giving up there are definitely people to pick you back up here:).
I wish... 2/5
I wish this app would open its own slide shows. I wish it would let me find helpful information about exercising with knee pain. But I can't follow most links within the app--except to articles. Of course ads everywhere. And no exercise plan that I can find, just urging to DO exercises. Well duh. The website is FAR better.
Would be great if it stayed logged in 2/5
By paul conlin
Probably every other time I open the app I have to re-log in and each time it does t recognize my password. Other than that this program would be great but it's super frustrating to always have to log in.
This app is total garbage. The only reason I downloaded it was so it can sync to Apple Health and track my steps automatically. Well, the page where you're supposed to be able to connect apps/devices is malfunctioning. All it displays is a blank screen. And SparkPeople doesn't seem to have an option to submit questions for guidance (they only have a page of FAQs). So I'm posting here hoping they see this. SparkPeople is a complete waste of time.
Lost my tracking! 2/5
I have been using the app a few days and loved it. This morning I opened the app to add information and everything I had logged was gone and the app was like I had just started using it. Very disappointed 🙁
Love it 5/5

Great way to really see and track all my food and see what is beneficial to my weight loss goals.
I've never seen another easier to use health app 5/5
This app is helping me to reestablish healthy habits. I'm so pleased with how much it does to keep me on track. It's interface is so easy, there's no learning curve at all.
