I’m a beginner and this has been a lot of fun
Good for multiple instrument learning 4/5

I’m learning how to play a guitar and ukulele at the same time, it’s really fun 🎶

I go to school if rick yes it is better then this but in my off time I will spend hours in just guitar
Great app!!! Works well!!! A little pricey 5/5
Great app works well. It’s a little pricey but I get it they invest a lot in this app. Making an app of this caliber is not going to be cheap. Parents it’ll be cheaper than paying a music teacher. However, if you find a teacher that is using the app to help teach then you have found a teacher who does care that their students are learning. Excellent app highly recommend it. I’m using it to see if it helps me learn bass.
Thought it was good 2/5
Tried Yousician out with the free 10 minute session and was liking it and considering purchasing so I could have longer sessions. Then it started ending my lesson after just doing a single song warm up (about a minute of play). When a app starts behaving like this it makes me leery of spending money on it.
Fix this now!! 1/5
By ... it's ok
I'm fine with the one lesson a day but jeez guys seriously I am learning to play the guitar and I am hitting every note and it is not counting it and I get the 30 second advertisement every time I play a f***ing song and it really annoys me. Also I have never gotten more frustrated at anything than I have at this app. Every time it updates you have to log in I tried to log in to my account but I forgot my password and they update frequently!!!! I would not recommend this to anybody in a million years!!!!:(
Great app one big problem 4/5
So I love this app it’s great and I have learned a lot on this app but the huge problem is that if you have ever tried to make a song and you use detect bass notes it does it completely wrong like not a missed not here and there but completely wrong in every way I think the creators of this app should add songs that people suggest and make sure they are right but anyways great app love it I use it nearly every day I can
write music in piano 5/5
why we can,t write music in piano mode???
Ukulele practice 5/5
I like Yousician it’s cool and understandable even though I’m 11 years old I think it’s pretty nice how you can learn different instruments just by using this app, I am currently learning how to play the ukulele and I hope one day I can play amazing songs.
I honestly think this app is amazing reason being is because for years I wanted to learn the guitar I tried YouTube but that didn’t help me and I didn’t have the money for lessons but even if it’s only 10mins a day not premium this does help me
Finally, a program that works! 5/5
Being a classically trained pianist, I was skeptical of learning guitar in this way. Other programs I tried just didn't work. But after two weeks, and seeing great progress, I'm SOLD! I didn't even realize how much I was progressing at first, but the lessons are so incremental and focus on building skill that you almost learn without realizing it. A fantastic investment!
Great App, BUUUUUTT... 4/5
Overall, great app to learn an instrument; especially guitar which I have purchased a year's premium account for. However, as great as this app is in teaching you, it does have many flaws. For example, when I go to restart a song over, sometimes the audio does not play and I have to restart 1,2 more times before it comes back on (not sure if thats just a feature to hear yourself play better but it shouldn't do that automatically). Also, the app quits out on me from time to time which is also annoying. Keep in mind, when practicing, it's good to have full battery on your iPhone/IPad or even plug it in because this app drains your battery even with it charging.
The songs they have listed you can learn to play also don't sound entirely like the originals so I'm going to have to go elsewhere once I get good enough to play on my own. Wouldn't recommend to any experienced players, but definitely for beginners.
The tuning mechanic for the guitar is buggy.
Doesn’t recognize WiFi connection 2/5
It’s been trying to connect to the net and keeps telling me I don’t have n internet connection while I’m sitting here watching Netflix, and I’m clearly connected.
The best app for learning music 5/5
So when I got my guitar I was recommended to this app. I would say that this app is the most helpful to people like
I find that face to face personal lessons is harder than expected. With Yousician, learning is so much easier.
And the best part is, it’s free unless you want to upgrade. It’s not like the free version is useless, it still provides the same material, but with a time limit. This is good for kids who want to pick up guitar, without parents paying for a personal instructor. I would personally say that paying for it is worth it, but the free version will teach you the exact same thing, it will just take longer.
Another great part about it is that you can use songs from YouTube or other users to play songs. This is useful if you want to play instead of learn to take a break, and it comes with the free version, so you don’t have to play extra.
Now for the cons.
First, I don’t know if this has happened to anyone else, but the app has glitched out on the screen where it promotes its payed version, where the background is black and there is no audio, and it cuts my lesson short. This has only happened once to myself.
Second and lastly, the computer version of the app will not start up on my computer. I know this is not related to the phone app, but after I downloaded it from the official site, it just says its updating, updates, then never launches.
This app is wonderful and I would recommend everyone to try this before paying for a personal instructor.
Fun and effective 4/5
Very fun! Brings me back to guitar hero, but even more enjoyable. $10 a month for unlimited lessons? What a deal! One problem I have; Am I the only one who feels like the music playing through the phone speaker can sometimes interfere with your correct notes? EVERY song I play with the volume up, the app doesn’t pick up correct notes here and there... which can be pretty annoying if you’re shooting for a perfect score... and the problem seems to go away when I turn the volume down! If there is any way to fix this, it would take a lot of frustration away... besides that, this very a mature guitar player very much enjoys your app :)
😡👎👎👎hate it 1/5
Great App! 5/5
My Music Teacher at school requested I buy this because we are learning Piano at class and I used this to help me more. Great app once again!
By Samuel Tasmaly
Good app! I’m starting to play piano and this app helped me a lot!
I like learning from Yousician but I want to play longer than my free practice time but I don’t want to pay for extra time. You should be able to play and practice for as long as you want without paying anything. The app is free but the time you spend on it shouldn’t.
Best app!! 5/5
I barely started playing acoustic guitar. I found this app I find it amazing!! I grew up playing guitar hero and this app reminds me of it. It’s worth the 10$ a month. Feels like a video game to me. You got to progress to get to the highest level. Get this app now!!
Its bad 1/5
The app doesnt recognize the sound i play so it doesnt let me go on from the warmup and ita really annoying and also it treats me like i just picked up a guitar when i pressed i know alot of things
Loving the App 5/5
By The Christian One
I love this app I wanted to play guitar so bad and this app helped me. It’s annoying just getting the basics at first but it’s worth it because you learn more along the way.
Good, but not great 3/5
I would give 4 stars, but for some reason it won’t acknowledge the fact that I am playing certain chords correctly, then others register as correct no matter what fingers I am pressing down. It also bothers me that when my lesson time is up I can’t just play songs from the library.
Get this app! 5/5
Great app and fun for all ages, probably the best free piano app out here that actually teaches you!
Useful App 5/5
Great app for those who want to learn how to play the guitar.
Bad listening skills 1/5
By Jacob troxler
When I play a song and it tells me to play whatever note. It don’t register that I played the note. It’s like it can’t hear. But maybe 10 notes it can out of 30. Even if I play the right note it says it’s wrong or it says I play the wrong string, which I don’t. Right now tho app is trash and I can’t stand it. If you fix this problem I’d greatly appreciate it.
Finicky note matching 1/5
Tried it, but uninstalled. It isn't consistent at matching the notes from the midi set to piano.
Great but two problems. 3/5
I have used this off and on and want to give it five stars but they have two issues I don't like.
One, guitar and bass does not teach proper music reading but instead it is a game style format but piano it does teach music reading. This is sad because music reading does help with memory and combat neurological diseases plus allows people to play music with a band that they may never have heard the songs before but only have sheet music to use.
Two, lack of popular songs including Christian music which does sell millions worldwide.
If they gave the option of proper guitar music and bass music like they do with piano and add more songs especially Christian music this would be the best app easily.
The problems 4/5
For some reason when I go into songs pick one is freezes and I can’t play songs and I keep loading and loading and I wish the payment was not every month just one payment
This is the best app ever for playing guitar I never rate apps so the fact that I am says a lot I’m learning how to play guitar and it’s great
I love yousician! 5/5
This app is a nice tool to anyone who loves music but doesn’t know how to play. I give this app a 10/10. The lessons always are specific enough for anybody! I have one suggestion. This may be a lot, but could you add more instruments to learn like, trumpets or even flutes! Even if you don’t the app is awesome for even kids! 🤩👍👍
I’m having fun and learning! I feel like I can stick with it.
By Yousician trial
This app seems like a good idea. I tried the trial version, but the app doesn’t even recognize the beginning lessons of playing the open string. If it doesn’t recognize me playing then it’s useless. Will try later on the ipad, but this was pretty frustrating as someone who really doesn’t know a lot about playing a guitar. So far I’ve learned the most off of YouTube.
Pretty good overall 4/5
By Joe cool 777
Pretty good app. I’ve had some issues with it detecting my chords and notes when I strike them on my uke. Also it’s given me credit when I know I flubbed a note too, so the input’s a little off. Which irritates me as a perfectionist gamer. (Gotta get ALL gold stars). But pretty good ocerll
I think what you guys are doing it amazing! Thank you
Best guitar app ever 5/5
By Great app! A must have!
This is without doubt the best guitar app in the world!!
I love Yousician and I would 100 percent recommend it to everyone who plays beginner intermediate and advanced. Yousician has something for everyone. Also comes with a fantastic tuner. A must have!!
Not bad but needs work 3/5
I saw this on a YouTube ad and it looked interesting so I decided to try learning piano again. Overall the app is pretty good, I’m not a fan of the whole premium thing but you have to earn money somehow. But the biggest problem I found was I kept saying I was playing the wrong note when I was playing the right one. I am aware that my piano is very old but I got it tuned very recently and when I try playing notes and cords it says I’m playing it wrong when I’m not! I am currently stuck on a level because I can’t get it to understand the notes correctly. I would recommend installing something so you have to play every note and it can somehow recognize that sound on your piano so it knows that even though it may not sound like for instance an E, but it is on your piano. Overall I great app and I love the idea but still needs lots of work.
Have not ever played guitar. My family received a guitar for Christmas 6 weeks ago and I just made level 4. I am super impressed how easy the lessons are. As long as you make time to practice I think anyone could learn with this program.
5 star app!! 5/5
By Dragon gymnastics
This app is great!! I’m just starting, and it’s very helpful! I was looking for a great to learn guitar and this definitely it!
I think this app is great but.. 3/5
I like how this app handles everything, and I get the premium deal and everything, but not letting me practice the songs for next time is stupid, especially once I start getting into the more advanced things. Once your time for the day is up u should be able to practice the songs for the next day. Especially if it’s one that you’re struggling with. Maybe I’m missing something but at least for me it won’t let me practice songs that I’ve already completed. Fix that and I’ll give 5 stars.
Useful, but frustrating 2/5
I wanted to learn how to play the guitar, and saw an ad for this app. At first it was very helpful, learning new chords was easy, but as I progressed the app’s flaws became apparent. Obviously, learning an instrument is hard, but the app’s terrible ui made it infuriating to learn anything past “level 2” skill level. Songs are displayed in tabs, but the songs are auto scrolling, making it difficult to correct any mistakes you make at a certain point. This also makes it somewhat hard to judge what string to play, if a note is on the 3rd or 4th string. This combined with the auto scroll makes the experience even worse. If you misjudge the string and play a different one, it is exceedingly difficult to correct yourself. If you pause it, you are almost guaranteed to miss the next note as it plays immediately after you unpause. If you don’t pause you will sacrifice the next few notes in correcting yourself. The auto scroll becomes even more infuriating as you are given new notes that you have not yet seen halfway through the generic SoundCloud songs the app uses. One other problem I found with it was that there is no warning that you are to move your hand down the neck of the guitar to play new notes. Yousician uses a color coding system to differentiate what fingers should play each note, which is helpful, but if you glance between the guitar and the music, only to realize that the next blue note is in the 10th rather than the 3rd. You will then likely mess up, attempting to play the note, only to miss the following ones. One final complaint is that it is very hard to look between the music and the guitar for accuracy. If you are playing one of the songs and you don’t look to the guitar, you will likely mess up your finger placement, failing to properly do the following notes, and when looking to the guitar to then correct this, the song continues without you. These complaints are mostly for beginners like myself. I completed the early lessons, and saw improvement which I thank the app for, but after a while it was as though a was being thrown into the wilderness to fend for myself. It would be much different if the “lessons” of SoundCloud, royalty free music were actual famous songs that you would want to know, or at least basic versions of them. Most people learn songs like smoke on the water as their first song, but yousician has no trace of actual good songs in its lessons. It includes an “explore” tab where you can do actual songs, but they are ranked by a level from the lessons, and need to be sought out. This app is helpful, but I do not see myself doing anything beyond the free trial. I would much rather buy a game like Rocksmith on my pc to learn than use this. However, this is just my opinion, and maybe my frustration is due to my lack of experience, but the flaws of this app are quite evident.
Hated it! 1/5
On the second lesson it told me to play fret 3 on the thinnest string and I did and it worked at first but eventually it would tell me I wasn't playing it and I was doing the exact same thing I was originally.
My guitar !! 2/5
By Neema Tristan
It seemed to be going fine but after I used the tuner it snapped my guitar string I tried really hard to get to sound right but instead it snapped it plus I cannot get past the stupid fret thing because it can’t hear the notes so overall don’t tune your guitar using the app and make sure it can hear you
I liked the beginning but then it was just stupid 2/5
I’m learning to play guitar and this was really great in the beginning. But once I got past frets I hated it. Whenever I would play a note it would say it was wrong even though it was right 90% of the time. Maybe my phone just isn’t picking up the sound or something? But my phone is less than five inches away from the guitar and still says I play wrong notes. I don’t understand it. And it never bothered telling me how to transition between frets quickly.
Not a big fan 2/5
The app was nice at first not glitchy or anything but, I am a beginner and I know most cords and can play frets. Keep in mind I selected beginner!!! and it was moving so fast and telling me to do 4 different frets on two different strings in like two seconds... please slow this app down. FOR THE SAKE OF BEGINNERS!!!
I Love Yousician 5/5
I used the demo program along with a few others. I was so impressed I upgraded and it’s worth it!!! I would like a few mods. Apple TV support. 2 lines of music instead of one so you can get a better look ahead. The little bar at the bottom is fairly useless except in practice mode. I like that you have added many songs recently. I would like some 5 string options for bass guitar.
Great product. Thanks.
Best music teaching app. 5/5
Love it. My kids love it. One of the best uses of a phone ever.
Likes...a lot!!! Dislikes...one!!! 5/5
Why do I have to upgrade to premium to learn piano if I've already paid for the app to learn guitar? Ridiculous...
