Aero Atlas puts the world's airports at your fingertips. Whether you're a dedicated plane spotter, an aviation enthusiast tracking aircraft overhead, or a traveller curious about any airport on the planet, Aero Atlas delivers the data you need on a beautiful, interactive map. Open the app and you're looking at a live aviation map. Airports appear as colour-coded markers — large, medium, small, heliports, and seaplane bases — all filterable to show exactly what you need. Zoom in and satellite runway overlays appear automatically, giving you a real-world view of the field. Turn on the air traffic layer and watch real-time aircraft positions update across the map. Tap any aircraft to see its callsign, operator, aircraft type, registration, origin and destination, altitude, speed, heading, vertical rate, and squawk code. A full-screen photo loads alongside an A320-style Primary Flight Display showing live flight parameters. Tap any airport for a rich detail page: ICAO, IATA, and local codes; runway dimensions, surfaces, headings, and lighting status; radio frequencies for tower, ground, ATIS, and more; elevation, coordinates, and scheduled service information. Wikipedia summaries provide background on each airport, and direct links connect you to official websites. Live METAR weather is built in. Each airport page shows the latest observation decoded into readable cards: flight category (VFR, MVFR, IFR, LIFR), wind direction and speed, visibility, cloud layers, temperature, dewpoint, and altimeter setting. The raw METAR text is always available for those who prefer it. Every runway offers a 3D satellite flyover. Tap the approach button and watch a simulated ILS approach from one nautical mile out, complete with an animated PFD showing airspeed, altitude, heading, bank angle, vertical speed, localizer deviation, and glideslope deviation — rendered in real time over satellite imagery. Navaids are overlaid on the map: VOR, VOR-DME, VORTAC, NDB, DME, and TACAN stations, each with frequency and identification. SIGMET weather hazards appear as coloured polygons — convective activity, turbulence, icing, IFR conditions, mountain obscuration, and volcanic ash — so you can see the big weather picture at a glance. Find airports fast. Search by name, ICAO code, or IATA code with instant results. The Nearby tab uses your location to list the closest airports with distances. Bookmark your favourites and save aircraft you spot — they appear in a dedicated carousel with photos and route details for quick reference.
