A dog 1/5
I’m a 2+ yr user. Good in concept, but so slow it’s not usable. Not to mention buggy. When my pro license expires, I’m moving on.
Useful but need an iPad version 3/5
By by Fishy
It’s a phone version, not a full screen iPad version. However as far as content and features it is very good.
This is a great app! Highly recommend.
Great app 5/5
So happy I found it I have been on so many great hikes and adventures thanks to this app. After I used it in Northern Ga, I just went ahead and bought pro. Was also very worth it for downloading capabilities and directional features and such. Thanks for putting such a great app for hikers out there :)
The way I find my adventures!
Love it! 5/5
We are so glad we have this app! So much information and updated regularly! Cool to be able to read about other hiking friends’ experience!
We totally love the access to hiking places in the areas we will be visiting!
Trail dweller 5/5
By Trail dweller
I love the app.❤️
Best of the Best 5/5
I use this app every time I am out on a hike. Easy to navigate, you can download maps and gos is very accurate. I used it on my McKinley ascension and it was on point on high altitude as well
Uses notifications to drive engagement. 1/5
Misusing notifications to drive engagement or to send spam is my pet peeve. I don’t want to be interrupted because some app product manager is trying to meet an internal KPI. As a customer I think I deserve more respect than that.
Now I have to disable notifications, which in turn disables off trail notifications which is why I had them enabled. Why undermine trust like that? Idiotic.
Best trail app I have found 5/5
By Ellio Blox
What else could you need?
Please integrate blazes into trail maps 4/5
This is such a great app and I am happy to pay for the service to hopefully support the app and the peace of mind of having offline maps available. It would be perfect if the blaze colors were integrated into the maps.
Game changer 5/5
I love being able to track my hikes and find new hiking trails. It’s super helpful to see exactly where I’m going if I get lost on a trail, and I like being able to upload pictures of my hikes!
Love it! Great for finding places to go herping. 4/5
By The Great Freddy Gecko
When paired with iNaturalist it is great for finding places to go herping. One thing I would add would be a feature to search for hikes based on words in the reviews. Say I wanted to go find a king snake. I could type in snake or king snake and only hikes with those words in the reviews would pop up. Otherwise its fantastic.
The app has gone downhill 2/5
I’ve been using AllTrails for a few years now and upgraded to pro a couple years ago. Now it is glitchy and pictures won’t show even after I download them. I have to download at least 2–3 time for them to show. My latest pictures still haven’t downloaded when I view the hike. Very frustrating!!
No Dogs Allowed??? 2/5
What happened? I used to be able to click the dog friendly choice and get several trails. Now when I choose dog friendly it gives me ZERO choices. Did they all ban dogs? Or does the app now ignore dogs? Please help me find the dog trails again!
Worth paying for! 5/5
By Healthy in San Diego
I love AllTrails and have had a pro membership since 2019. Why?
1. See recent reviews for current trail conditions
2. Find new trails in my area
3. Send “Lifeline “ notice to my husband so he knows where I am on the trail
4. Save my hiking history
Extreme waste of money 1/5
This app is extremely difficult to use. What if you want to change your trail mid hike? Nope. Can you plan a custom trail? Nope? if you have a trail selected and you don’t have the GPS running, will it show you how for you are in or to the end of the trail? Nope.
Update: all trails responded to this review suggesting that I email the support. I did, and no response. It’s been 2 months. I reduced the rating from 2 to 1 star. Please refund my money!
It is ok for hiking 3/5
By Barney Loose
It seem to work alright…be careful the pictures on the app are only the beautiful scenes
Takes Getting Used To 3/5
App. can cut in and out in Desert Canyon hikes due to cell service. One out of two trails failed. Only captured part of the hike. But hey, it’s free so not complaining.
Integration With Apple Health 4/5
Would like to have the workout record heart rate. Also would like a larger map on the Apple Watch. One without metrics on the bottom
Unusable navigation 1/5
This app gives no more information than google maps. It navigates like any maps program, but has no special usefulness for trails except maybe looking at reviews. I downloaded in hopes that I could look at the map of my area and choose the trail from the map. It doesn’t let you even click it. It just recommends the most highly trafficked trails. Not useful at all past the first glance
New to hiking 5/5
I am a weirdo who used to think hiking was pointless and exhausting, but recently I’ve had a change of heart, and I’ve really been getting into hiking. This app helps you learn a lot about hiking in general, discover cool trails, and just overall very helpful. I think I’m going to take the plunge and purchase the $35 all access year-round subscription to experience all of its features.
Great Trail Suggestion, some tweaking needed 4/5
Hello! I have been using the all trails up for a few years. I have just upgraded to pro recently. I can tell you all the things I love about this app. I mainly use it for hiking but I do also use it to find cool places on road trips or for biking. I love all the great filters to narrow it down based on my interests and capabilities. I love reading the comments and seeing reviews before attempting these trails. They have been so helpful. I love how I can plan my trips and save my favorite hikes and keep track of my completed trails.
I do not yet find pro worth it though. It’s not much different than the free version in my eyes. And I had a poor experience using the offline, downloadable maps. It was very inaccurate. Kept leading me off trail and lead me to a dangerous situation and ruined my hiking plans. I love AllTrails but as a promember, I have not found “pro” all that worth of yet.
Best app I’ve used! Helps me keep track of what Im trying to plan for a trip with my wife and I! Also it’s easy to keep a note separate on your phone if you want to share with someone who doesn’t have the app!
Best app of its type 5/5
This is the best app of its kind for the multimodal trail traveller.
I have a Pro subscription but can’t sign in on my iPhone 2/5
I’ve tried repeatedly by nothing is sent to my active email to help.
Indispensable Trail guidance 5/5
As a hiker who enjoys particular kinds of things on a trail such as a Loop or being able to bring my dog it is incredibly helpful to have this tool to select and then navigate these trails. My only criticism of this app is it’s navigation to the trail heads can be off. My workaround is to look at the trail head start under “navigation” and not “directions” and find my way there when I get close.
Tracking Trail Completions 5/5
We love going outside. All Trails helps me find trails, record my hikes and notes/photos/memories, and let’s me review the things I’ve done (with pics) and find hikes I’ve never done before. I use this app weekly and I love it. Great job.
Great app 5/5
All Trails is my go to app to check out unhiked trails for our group. Reviews are great and hike times are helpful for planning the trip as well as difficulty, trail tips, crowds, etc
Best hiking app 5/5
I love all trails. I even recommend it to friends. Easy way to find trails and know the difficulty and length. Love to down load the map so I don’t get lost too! I use google maps to find the trail head though. I have notice some trail head are not correctly marked on all trails.
Best hiking spots 5/5
My go to hiking app for all my hiking needs wherever I’m at!
Love it 5/5
This app keeps me on track every time I hit the trails!!
Pro a must have 5/5
This is a great app. If you are hiking where there is no cell reception your really need the Pro version so you can download maps for gps use. The money is definitely worth one’s safety.
Great App for Walkers and Hikers 5/5
I love this app and all the features it offers. Am part of a healthy women movement GirlTrek, and this app allows me to find trails in all cities and towns around the USA.
It decides to stop working 2/5
By Walter Sedoux
Went on a 13 mile hike and it just default decides to stop recording by hike. It pauses when I stop?! Why? Can’t I decide when it stops recording? It just decides for you. Guys, hiking often involves stopping from time to time. I’d like to know how long my hikes took in reality, not just while I was moving. How about letting users decide if they want to pause? So annoying
The best hiking app 5/5
By Alè Pal
This is my favorite app and I use it every time I hike!
Koko head step to the crater 5/5
By the Peruvian sherpa
Very challenging climb all the way to the top. For me at least at almost 70 years but exciting. I bypass the bridge the steps too wide, a little scary. Once on top the views are magnificent and you can explore one of the bunkers. Take lots of water and rest when needed.
Use it for all my hikes! 5/5
Perfect app for finding new spots to go hiking and keeping track of where you’re going while hiking.
All Trails 5/5
A must have for new and experienced hikers!
Great for finding trails 5/5
We nearly exclusively use this for finding all our hikes. The community is great too
Awesome tool to find new trails 4/5
It is a great way to find new trails the only issue I have is with tracking my hikes. I wish it would auto start and stop when is sees you have went onto the trail. The start and stop button just doesn’t work well for me.
Best hiking app 5/5
I’ve tried every hiking app. AllTrails is easily the best app.
Almost Perfect 4/5
By the El Dubya
This app is almost perfect… there’s one thing that is missing… the option to have your “activities” list be displayed as lined item bars without the bigger map photo. This way once a lot of activities have popped up you can see them easier/quicker. Just a strong suggestion. Otherwise, GREAT source of information that leads to all sorts of outdoor discoveries. Walking and hiking with my dog out and away from “civilization” is like therapy to me. And this helps one to discover all sorts of places.
Renewal squeeze 4/5
Apparently any downloaded maps disappear when membership is up- but after paying, you can get them back with “restore purchases”. I found it hard to get details on pricing, but it probably costs less to auto-renew than to re-subscribe. Old rate $30, new rate $36.
All trails 5/5
Very helpful on finding trails and trail length also the physical levels of the trails very helpful It would hard to navigate without ALL TRAILS 👍👍
Lost my pro membership when I got a new phone 1/5
I loved this app until I opened it up after purchasing a new phone. Lost all my hiking/walking history and it tells me to upgrade to pro (still has my name and location correct though and didn’t ask me to log in). Problem is when I go to my subscription history in my iPhone, I’m still paid up until May 2, 2023. Emailed them asking to please fix the problem and no response. What’s going on??
Great way to check out new places 5/5
We sit down to find a local trail that we haven't exploded yet. Amazing how many trails/ walks/ good ideas are around us. A great way to check the distances on our common daily walks too. 5 Stars!
Opens up a whole new world! 5/5
By Dickens Mabutt
Thanks to AllTrails I've been able to consistently find new and exciting trails, all for FREE! Must have for any hiker
By why? what hasnt been used?
This app literally saved my life. I was far out on a trail alone and was going to take a short cut to get back before dark. Before I got back the path suddenly disappeared. I could not see any sort of path and did not have time to turn back around. This app was the only thing that got me back before dark!!
