  • Hate it 1/5

    By jessica_647382
Be careful with this app once you cancel your subscription they subscribe you back to their app and charge you every month without your consent check your bank I’ve unsubscribed and they manage to subscribe me back and charge me and take money from my card if I could rate this app a 0 I would but it won’t give me an option don’t waste your time with this app
  • Great BUT... 4/5

    By Bettyboo1392
I just a stumbled across this app and it is amazing but it would be great if they added a list to save our favorites as well as a system to rate or give the consumer something that indicates what the book teaches (example: I don’t like just reading any old thing to my child so I would like to know before starting the book weather it teaches about motor skills, emotions, letters and numbers, etc) I’d also like to see other parents opinions of the books
  • Limits don’t work for iOS 1/5

    By Lefty5
Time limits don’t work for iOS. Even with videos and apps blocked, they show up and can be watched or played. Works just fine on the Fire tablet.
  • Lacks basic features 1/5

    By MrZaius
Absence of search makes for a weirdly poor experience. Totally inconsistent eading experience, nothing like (and much worse than) the Kindle app or FreeTime on a Kindle Fire. Literally can’t even zoom in picture books. Gave up and unsubscribed and deleted this app.
  • Audiobooks 1/5

    By cusa-6
It is very hard to get the echo dot kids to play audiobooks that the kids want.
  • Great App !! 5/5

    By Briieluke
Apps that I would normally have to buy on the play store are already pre- loaded to the tablet with full access !
  • Useful App, awful user experience 2/5

    By DMcDutch
A good way to move content such as Audible books onto your kids’ Echo devices, but a slightly annoying way to do it....requires multiple logins.
  • QWERTY 2/5

Guys! Every single thing in the app is paid! Please do half free half paid. Please look at my review amazon

Having trouble deleting content From my personal account that I don’t want kids to watch but that automatically show up. Child is frustrated with items not downloading. Otherwise great idea
  • Can’t remove content 1/5

    By SeattleMom789
Unlike the Fire app, parents can’t remove or hide content (e.g. spongebob for 4 year old). Renders app useless.
  • Frustrating 1/5

Parental controls don’t work. The dashboard settings/menu are unresponsive in the app, and even when changed via the web, the videos still work even though they’ve been blocked. Hard to give the device to a child for them to read on without being able to turn off the video content. I still can not figure out how to turn off outside content access/browser. Maybe these settings are broken too. No save option for content, so no one way to build a list of books to read, etc. Where is the pinch & zoom for books? Why can’t you view just one page at a time? Having two pages on the screen at the same time makes the pictures & words too small. Why does the version history mention double tap/zoom improvements multiple times and yet I can fine NO OPTION for that?? The parent dashboard settings buttons are unresponsive. They simply won’t expand. The app support opens up a help menu that isn’t specific to the FreeTime iOS app. How do I contact customer service about all this stuff? Not good at all.
  • Please add the games! 1/5

    By Tay_x0x0
I upgraded my daughters kindle that she’s had since she was 2, to an iPad this year (she’s 6 now) because her kindle didn’t have the storage capacity to download the games she wanted, and most of them crashed instantly when she tried to play. But she LOVES the kid side because of so many different games on there. If amazon would add the game feature (the same as on the kindle), to this app whether it’s paid or not, (I don’t expect it to be free, I’d be willing to pay $5 or $10 a month for everything!) so that kids with other brands of tablets/iPads can enjoy those games too, I really think it would be a success. When I saw that this app was on here, I got excited thinking it included the games but it doesn’t. It’s just books and tv shows. Super disappointing. Because all the games are free of course when you have a kindle.. if you go to download those games on an iPad, you have to purchase them at $4+- each! Disappointing. So don’t download this thinking it has the games because it does not. Hopefully amazon will add the games one day soon.

  • Parental controls don’t work 1/5

    By karajabóla
I wanted an affordable e-reader for my daughter. The parental controls have features to turn off all video, but they don’t work. I don’t need videos, that’s what YT Kids is for.
  • Can’t access the app, no knows why 1/5

    By enitan1
I can’t even get to the dashboard. It keeps me at the sign in page, yet my subscription is working and valid! No one in tech support knows what’s going on. Sooooooo, I’m paying for a product I can’t use. Thanks...:I guess..

  • Books read aloud 2/5

    By MontanaAshley
I felt mislead when we got FreeTime Unlimited for the second time after the announcement of 1,000s of audible books. I can’t find them using search. When we ask Alexa, she just picks one at random. My children are 3 and 4. They’re not old enough to read the books, can we have the option to have books read TO them. It would be an AMAZING feature. Listening to books without the pages in front of them is not easy at their age.
  • Totally worth it 5/5

  • Good but bring back the games/apps and also bring back the old icons 3/5

    By Sawyer Stack
There are books, videos, and other stuff but no apps!? Makes no sense honestly, and also bring back the old profile icons they look better. 😩
  • Horrible for Managing Devices 3/5

    By RDustinB
The daily time doesn’t update even after changing times and hitting apply. Always requires OTP even though I check the box every time that says “don’t require OTP”. Can you just make an app for doing nothing more than managing my kids devices please? Can you allow me to NOT allow device usage during the week? Why is the minimum 15 minutes? Amazon has great controls compared to other manufacturers (Apple) but they could be improved!!
  • Adequate Results but unnecessarily complicated 3/5

    By Penguin Tail
The FreeTime Parent app certainly has a good amount of control available. However it is extraordinarily unintuitive. As near as I can tell, in order for my kid to be able to listen to music I have to download ANOTHER app (the Alexa app) in order to enable “skills”. I can control exactly how much time my kid needs to read or listen to audible (and props for those being separate settings) and I can control apps and movies - but I need a totally different app to link my music account? 🧐 Also, it would be really nice if I could either make a separate setting for educational apps or whitelist a couple favorites to have a separate time limit.
  • Good for entertainment only 1/5

    By dissatified mom
Bought for an eight year old so that he would have his own tablet for schoolwork and then entertainment. The Amazon Fire with kid’s app is useful for entertainment purposes ONLY! The school website can not be accessed using the required google login information and the camera does not open to scan a code as an alternate. The website he needs for his music theory assignments does not run on the browser provided. Despite setting parental controls that require time reading and on educational apps prior to videos/games, some video content (PBS Kids) still run. Keeping it, at least for now, for the subscription to Audible only.
  • Audio books? 1/5

    By Voter 2016
So far I can’t get the audio book for which I purchased this app/subscription. They don’t have in their catalogue The Hobbit, either! Not happy with this.
  • Horrible and extremely difficult 1/5

    By Joshi Bhandu
I have never seen anything so complicated to setup. Parental controls and adding content to Echo Show is a nightmare which is still not over for us. Me and my daughter have spent the last hour trying to get this to work. And after all that .... guess how many audiobooks are available? THREE, yes that’s right, three audiobooks. No kidding. And they want a monthly subscription?????? Amazon, surely this is a prank you are playing with prime members, right?
  • Not the best 2/5

    By Batyak
This app does not make it easy for parents to pick and choose the content their kids can see. Amazon appears to think they are better at deciding what is suitable at what age for your child then their parents. Limiting access to certain apps and programs without blocking the child entirely from things like a web browser or all of the prime content amazon find suitable is virtually impossible. does. The app itself is clumsy and does not always work.

This is a great app on the tablet. I love all the choices under the parent dashboard. When trying to control the device from a separate app, it doesn’t work. If I want my daughter off the tablet now, I can’t shut this off from my phone.

  • Lack Of True Parental Control/Approval 1/5

    By Bertguy12
I like the idea of a curated space for my kids, but Amazon failed on the execution. Aside from the filters for age content, you have very little say over what your kid accesses. They can go to all of the 11k+ apps/books/videos and there is no approval for the parent. There is also not a way to block all content automatically and allow the parent to pick which things the kids can see. Amazon taking a first pass at figuring out what is appropriate for my kids is ok. But I should still have the final say. Every parent has a different idea of what is appropriate for their children and Amazon seems to have ignored that and decide that they know better. You can block content, but it is only by searching or manually selecting and blocking the apps. But blocking most things is too time consuming and not practical. As a developer adding a block all/allow all toggle is REALlY easy. I would prefer to get the full view from the parent side and select which apps or developers to allow my kids to see. That makes more sense, we can pick the toys, books, and other content that comes into our home, why shouldn’t his be different?

  • The best Amazon app 5/5

    By jayden/ buggy
The reason why I think it’s the best is because you can read FREE books for no payment. I would say everyone should give this app a five star rate! You don’t even have to go to the library all you have to do is get on this app right now and read some amazing books!!
  • Not customizable enough 1/5

    By yanipique
I am really disappointed with the free time app and the kids unlimited. It does not allow me to regulate what is on the tablets enough. Even if I put that my child must read books or audio book it still allows some games to be in play. It is frustrating when we purchased these tablets to be a source of education for them.
