Inadequate Usability 1/5
By Parent of kids that read
While this app has some usefulness, it requires a constant WiFi connection to read books. Why Amazon feels the need to restrict my kids’ Kindle access to this app is beyond me. Let me deliver content that I purchase for them to the Kindle app... it’s cleaner, doesn’t have all of the game distractions, and most importantly, the books can be downloaded for reading while traveling. If there’s a way to do that in this ridiculously over-complicated app, it’s not intuitive for grown-ups or children.
Can’t remove unwanted content 2/5
This would be a 5 star product if only parents could remove unwanted videos, books, and apps. Parents should have complete control over what their children read and see - not Amazon content reviewers! Please add the ability for parents to remove unwanted media into this product.
Age Filter 3/5
By Heavy Heav
The books are not properly categorized to the right age group. Some are too advanced for the age group. We love a challenge but it is beyond challenging and was becoming quite deterring for my child.
Already buggy 3/5
Just downloaded looks like it has some great content. Though I don’t think we can download a thing to for of line usage. My really frustration is it freezes when I try to get into parental controls. Might cancel before the free trial is over.
Rip Off 1/5
Don’t get suckered into this free trial! I can’t unsubscribe or cancel now I’m being charged every month for an app my grandson can’t use
NOT Unlimited 1/5
No Peppa Pig episodes. No Paw Patrol episodes. Only 2 seasons of Daniel Tiger. Unlimited with little or no content. Definitely not with $9.99 a Month
By María de la C
I need your help. I am Amazon Prime. 4 Children. I must pay less. Please, see this.
No games or apps 1/5
Books and videos only, no games like there are if you use amazon free time on a kindle. It’s ridiculous to charge the same price for an app that only has Books and videos and not games. Most the videos are available on amazon prime anyway.
Limited learning content 1/5
I was expecting more learning content here but could not find interactive material for kids.
Love this app! 5/5
There are only educational videos on Amazon FreeTime! You have access to what your child is watching, and you can see the length of their screen time as well as set a time limit. Its $2 per month, and it is so worth every penny.
Not easy 3/5
By The Cruise Director
I’m a pretty savvy 40 year old, but navigating the app and parental controls is something you need a coding degree for. This should be easier. Maybe I’m just spoiled with Apple’s platform, but for the love of heaven!
Worth the money! 5/5
By Dog Lova 2008
Sooooo worth it! I love it so much! But my dad said it had music, I’m kinda disappointed about that but I still love it! So worth the 5 stars
I love it! 5/5
I love that you can see how many minutes they spent and I like that it has different things like videos and etc.
Difficult to quit!!!!!! 1/5
I don’t want this charge anymore!!!! Impossible to find where to quit!!!!!
Nice content, would like to read but impossible 2/5
Ok so we usually open the books in our kindle but when we forget our kindle st home we still would like to read in the phone but the letters are not legible at all, it’s disappointing because I would like to use non amazon products to be able to use my subscription.
Very limited content, picture books words are extremely small, hard to read, and cannot get larger.
Keeps hanging up 1/5
Keeps hanging up. Difficult to use.
By Zoo 121
Signed up for free month had to do a renewal. Not at all what we needed. Can’t find where to CANCEL
Gender Stereotyping 1/5
I’m a little offended that my child’s biological sex is selecting the programs he may like. He identifies male, but enjoys all kinds of entertainment. If you want to provide preferences please start off with genres or themes that do not stereotype.
Needs audio to go with the books 3/5
I would like to see audio with the books for the little ones who are not able to read yet but still enjoy listening and looking at the books.
I can’t figure out how to unsubscribe from an iPhone 1/5
By Yolanda Vega
all of the unsubscribe instructions are for kindles. I don’t have a kindle. I have an iPhone. And I want to unsubscribe.
Wish it was books only 3/5
I understand that it is great to have options for children but I’m not keeping the app. I already allow my children viewing time for selected shows but when I want them to read from an app, I want to make sure that reading is the only option; not viewing. There are enough viewing apps - I needed something that wouldn’t distract from reading. Glad we have our library card.
How to cancel subscription! 2/5
In ITunes Store(not App Store), go to the bottom and select your Apple ID. Under the account settings menu that pops up, scroll down to subscription. You can cancel there.
As for the app itself, you can’t see the selection until you agree to the trial. Lots of books, which I give 2 stars for, but almost everything in the video section is already available on Prime. Also, I hear on devices other than Apple, they have more options, such as children’s apps and games. It’s ridiculous to charge IOS users the same subscription price, but not give us the same content everywhere else. I’m sure the reason apps aren’t available is licensing issues with Apple, but at least reduce the monthly fee. Won’t be keeping the subscription...
Time limits and educational goals don’t work on iOS 3/5
By dexter and toby
The content available in the app is great. 5 stars on that.
However, I really want to use time limits and educational goals to require reading before video watching. We had an old Kindle Fire tablet with FreeTime where that all worked as expected. But with iOS, no matter how I configure things in the parent dashboard, nothing is restricted.
My other complaint is that I have a FreeTime Unlimited family plan but the app will only let me select one child’s profile. I can see the other profile but I get a confusing error message when trying to select it.
Not worth it 1/5
Great but.. 3/5
It’s a great App that is easy to use. However, I really wish they had a feature to read the books to you. My daughter is just learning. It would be very helpful and important to add a feature, where kids could have the book read to you, or an option to click on the word she doesn’t quite know, in the book, and it can be read to you out loud.
Keeps saying I am not in the US 1/5
Really want to get this for my daughter, but won’t let me log in even though I live in the US 😐
By horribly frusterated
Just purchased the device and now my child can’t get on the internet at all unless I control it and there is no instructions on how to get them access to it on amazon freetime
Hey girl what time are you going home do you do want a turkey and Domenic 5/5

I’m sorry about to your mom
Need to have some teen stuff 2/5
My grandkids hate that it is so baby looking!! They are 10 11 and 14
Won't zoom in; wear magnify Glasses 2/5
I like that you can open all sorts of books but, it is super tiny on my iphone and it won't allow me to zoom in to make the words larger. My son is going to strain his eyes trying to read this. I wish the pages would show one at a time instead of two stretched out at a time. Amazon please fix suggestions written above. TY.
Disappointing - can’t mirror shows on the TV 1/5
By Jemima Kiss
Part of the reason I bought this app was because I want my kids to be able to watch quality TV on the actual TV and not on the small iPad screen. But only now that I’ve paid and subscribed do I see that we can’t do that.
Please add screen mirroring so we can share with Apple TV and watch on a big screen.
Hard to program, I can’t even unsubscribe 1/5
Looking for a better app.
There is no option to zoom the text, while reading the books. 1/5
No option to zoom the text while reading books....
Could be amazing... 1/5
Could be amazing but parental control to remove videos does not work. Child still able to view videos even though I have setting set to block.
Parent restrictions for videos do not work 1/5
Any way to set restrictions on videos or disable the app through the parent dashboards does not work at all.
No games on iOS 1/5
Thought there would be games for kids but only books and shows on apple devices.
Disappointed about options for iOS 1/5
I’m forced to purchase a fire tablet I don’t need because we have a family shared iPad according to parental dashboard.... not purchasing new device or renewing freetime going forward until iOS option equal to the rest.
Impossible to try and unsubscribe. 1/5
Impossible to try and unsubscribe.
Simple video block not available 1/5
The parent dashboard is ridiculous. It needs reasonable improvements. You can not even block inappropriate content after you adjust the so called 'smart' setups.
Books can’t be downloaded, can only use if on Internet 1/5
By Busy teacher in KY
I’m very disappointed. I was really hoping for an app that we could use to download books my granddaughter could have on the plane on our way to France and to read to her while we are there, so that we wouldn’t need to bring dozens of books with us, taking up space and weight. This is not the case. If I turn off my cellular and WiFi access, I cannot reread any books I thought I had downloaded. And I have just read that this app is useless and will not work outside of the United States. This on top of the fact that there does not seem to be a good way to filter through junk books, so that she only selects quality literature has this retired teacher feeling that this is not an app that is useful for our family. I do not want to have to prevent her from selecting the prominent junk books, to get to the actual quality literature. I’m very disappointed!
Very limited catalog in Germany 1/5
There should be a notice prior to installation
It’s Great for Books 4/5
I just joined this app for the trial and browsed titles to see what was available. I love the selection of books on here! We have a small house and no room for books although I love reading my kids new books everyday. This app allows me to do that without adding clutter to our home. As for shows, this app has some good show titles and a lot of random shows my kids aren’t interested in. Very similar to what’s free on Amazon Prime for kids. I think the price is great for the reading options alone. I haven’t gone through the games yet so I will update my review once I see my kids play with it and see how engaged they stay.
Would love to be able to make font larger
It’s good except 4/5
The books don’t fit to the screen so on a lot of them you can’t see the words. And there is no option on screen for the kids to zoom or make it bigger:(
Ok not great 2/5
By Gowith D'flo
It is the only FaceTime. In reality it is often a slow and clunky interface that can be hard to figure out. Would like to see sorting by age and/or grade. Would like to see details about the apps, games, and books to help decision to download. “Remove” downloads does not always work.
Should be linked to Prime account 5/5
My 5 yr old loves the app. If you’re a Prime member, the monthly fee should be less than $9.99.
Good tools but needs more to be great 3/5
Don’t get me wrong, I really like Freetime Unlimited. It is a really good tool for monitoring and managing my daughter’s time on her Kindle. I’m just so frustrated by shortcomings that I think could easily be fixed. For example, you can set time limits, but it only for weekdays and weekends, not individual days. So my daughter gets frustrated that I can’t easily extend the turn off time on Friday night when she has a bit more flexibility, and I need to remember to adjust Sunday night so she doesn’t stay up late listening to Audible on a school night compared to Saturday nights.
I love that we get access to a lot of free content, I just wish as a parent it was easier in the dashboard to search and add that content.
I also wish it was easier to give this feedback directly to Amazon vs a review in the App Store. With a little improvement on the parent dashboard and tools to better manage time limit and content, this would be a 5 star tool I would gladly pay for.
No offline access to books on iOS 1/5
No offline access to books on iOS app. It also doesn’t have kids apps. Half baked product.
