Great application 5/5
Love it my kids really enjoy it
Service not included with Amazon Prime membership 2/5
Use of this app is (currently) $10 per month. Having an amazon prime membership does not grant free usage of app.
Unable to play games on iPad 1/5
Disappointed, my grandson has a Fire, it’s slow. I downloaded the app onto my iPad and we can only read or watch videos. NO games.
Daily Time Limits Broken 1/5
If I set the daily time limit for videos to “Blocked”, vides are still playable in the iOS app.
Does not have a list of audible books 1/5
I have found this app to be very frustrating, I bought the kids Alexa for my kids so they could listening to audio books. I have found it very hard and complicated to even find a list of audible books. When I ask Alexa for a list, “it usually just suggests the book for the week”, which I have no idea if the story is appropriate for my younger children. Any suggestions would be appreciated. At this point I’m ready to send the Alexa kid dots back.
Where is the 1 child subscription option!? 5/5
By Josh 11264
I have yet to find how to subscribe only 1 child! The only option I see on the Amazon web app and the FreeTime app is the family 1 year plan. Where is the monthly $2.99 plan for 1 child?
No educational apps 1/5
I got this for the educational apps and games and all I have access to are movies and books ! How do I get the rest of the content ? Ive searched all parental aspects and cant find anything. Useless without that
Small words 3/5
By cant see words @
Words are to small even with large settings
Poor quality 1/5
By Dissapointed Gma
The print is so tiny I can’t even read the books to my child and grandson. There is no way to enlarge the print.
Only books and videos 2/5
By Disappointed 543
I was very disappointed when we tried using FreeTime on an iPhone. My son’s kindle had broken and we tried letting him use FreeTime on my new iPhone for our 7 hour drive to family over the holidays. What a disappointment when it only had the books and videos!
Zero stars reall 1/5
By dont waste. your money
This app is terrible. Amazon freetime is garbage. You can get free books online through other ways. This is not an educational program at all.
No control 2/5
I have a trial of FreeTime, so I put the app on my iPad. First off, I can’t run it on the iPad my kids usually get to use (too old apparently). Then, I don’t get to choose what my kids watch. Some of the shows (and character books) Amazon thinks are appropriate for ages 5 and 7 are not allowed in our house, but the app for Apple has no blocking options. Tried doing it from my computer, but that won’t work either. I may have continued my subscription if not for that.
Font in books is really small 2/5
This font in picture books is harmful for eyes. Not kid friendly
Need more control over what apps /books are accessed for younger kids!
Loading books takes forever or not at all 1/5
Doesn’t load the books also hard to cancel subscription
No games? 3/5
I downloaded this app because my daughter loves the FreeTime on her kindle fire and could use my phone when we don’t have her tablet. But was disappointed to find out that there aren’t any of the games on here?
Just books 1/5
Thought there were puzzles and games too.??
By bekahs mom
Totally the most protective app even alerting on attempts at purchasing
Pain in the Rear 1/5
This is basically bloatware and loads all sorts of crap I don’t want on my child’s tablet.
Not what I was looking for 1/5
A “Freetime” app should mesh properly with the Amazon Household family profiles for kids, and allow granular access to content I have already purchased for them. Not cool.
Hard to read 4/5
App is great except for one thing. Reading the books is really hard as they are so zoom out it is hard to read the words. I wish there was a way to zoom in on the books or at least make the books larger to begin with.
Can’t get out of FreeTime 1/5
I can’t get out of FreeTime since the fire tv remote app is so buggy that I can’t control FreeTime with it anymore and I am stuck now. Even restarting the fire tv or reinstalling the tv remote app does not work. Total disaster!
Books mostly TV based 2/5
By SoCal HouseHunter
App is a great idea except the quality of available books is poor imho. Most books are TV show based. Seems focused on turning children into consumers, which would be more expected/acceptable if it were a free service. For $10/ month I would like to see more of a subscription based library.
Where are the games¡!! 1/5
By Sav shopper
It only has books and videos. No games as on the fire. My son is sad and wants to play his games.
Prime members need to pay 9.99$ 1/5
By Stinu S john
Amazon prime members need to pay 9.99$ monthly for this app. I get prime members when I pay 119$ yearly
This is the worst 1/5
This app doesn’t let me do anything!!!!👎😡😠😤😾👎👎👎 and also it takes my money!!👿👿👿👿👿👿🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬💸💸💸
Absolutely the BEST book app for kids 5/5
By Plain Jane 75
I have 2 boys ages 4 & 6. And I have tried many other book apps both free and subscribed ... I am extremely impressed and grateful for this one! We read delightful books everyday now together. Thank you Jeff Bezos!!!
No Apps or games!, 1/5
We has a kids fire with free time unlimited and she loves it....switched to IPad because Fire tablets do not support google or YouTube kids. I was excited about this app but am now disappointed because we can’t access apps or games 😒 I’m a prime member and fill if you have to pay why not be able to reap all benefits, Very disappointed!
By Kayden's Momma
I’m really disappointed that the apps & games are removed from the IOS version. Our subscription is up in January & I won’t be subscribing again. The apps are mainly the reason we bought the amazon hd 8 kids edition kindle in the first place but switched tablets & now were kinda screwed cause the apps my child loved are not on his account. So we’re having to buy the apps out of pocket & be paying for this as well? No we’re good. We have kids Netflix for movie & a ton of books at home✌🏻
Not really worth it yet 2/5
We’re just starting out with Freetime so there may be more content than we’ve found so far but we haven’t yet found anything we didn’t already have from another of our subscriptions
Needs better parental controls 1/5
I’d like to be able to approve what they watch, read, play, etc first. Amazon should not be the judge of what they can watch based on what they feel is age appropriate.
If there was a wish list where children could tap on what they would like to read, watch, play, etc and then parents could decide if they allow it that would be wonderful!
Amazon teaching my 4 year old there are some things available for others but not for her 1/5
How hard is it to filter out content that’s not available locally? On Netflix, my child doesn’t see shows that are not available for the location.
With this amazon app for *children*, more than half the items my child tries to use say not available in this country.
The other half are in a language she doesn’t understand. How hard could it be to add preferred language settings? Lazy programming. Poor results.
Not great for IOS 1/5
I initially purchased a fire tablet but the functionality didn’t suit our family. We then purchased an iPad and installed FreeTime and were completely disappointed by what was taken away by switching.
No apps or games 1/5
Very disappointed that the apps and games are missing from the iOS version of the app. Such a waste!
Wanted to like 1/5
I was never able to get unlimited FreeTime to work for us. As a homeschooler I wanted to use it as a way to provide educational games and activities during class time but found that it was difficult to only add the apps and videos I wanted. It became a pain to set up repeatedly and we stoped using it for several months as a result. I let them start again but since they have access to all the crappy apps as well as the educational ones, I’m still displeased with it. I can barely tolerate looking at the kindles and rejoiced when one of the kids lost theirs.
Not happy 1/5
I downloaded this app for my iPad thinking’s it had games like it does for my daughters fire tablets but it’s only books and videos. My 4 yr old son was extremely disappointed. Where are the games at?
iPad user 1/5
Books and videos work perfect but there are NO GAMES like it is on a fire tablet! WHY?
Good app 4/5
I use this app on my iPAD. Great book selection. A few suggestions:
1. Cannot make the text bigger in the app. It is so small that my kid gets tired reading it. Please add zoom option for the books or just display one page at a time instead of two pages together.
2. My kid is reading at a higher level. It would be great if the books could be searched or sorted based on the ATOS or difficultly level.
Appreciated that efforts by Amazon. This app has a great potential.
loading slow 3/5
Not what I thought 2/5
Videos are limited, no Blaze, and the book pages don’t fit the screen. Plus, I thought they would’ve been auto read but Ihave to read them to my 3yo but he likes actual books better.
No parent dashboard 1/5
Parent Dashboard (specifically the learn first fonctionality) still not compatible with Ios.
I will update my review when this feature is implemented.
Font too small 1/5
I can’t zoom in. I downloaded this so my 7yr old could read stories but we can’t read the words. No setting to zoom in. Waste of time.
Spongebob for 3 year old is a HUGE dealbreaker! 2/5
It appears the iOS app doesn’t have a way to disable or remove content native to the Freetime Unlimited app. This is a HUGE dealbreaker for our family. I'm not even sure why Spongebob Squarepants is allowed in the 2-3 year old age range!
It appears there is a way to remove or disable native content using a Kids Kindle, but there is no way to make these changes on an iPad using the Freetime Unlimited app.
I love this app. It is perfect and exactly what we need for our daughter to have the ability to read purchased Kindle books and to have access to other content, but I will not be keeping our subscription if there is no way to disable this content that is NOT APPROPRIATE!!!
I would be more than happy to contact the developer directly if possible to discuss these issues in more depth.
Buggy app, limited control and not worth it 1/5
If you are not limiting your kids screen time in any form, this app is good for you. But, the app is so buggy in Amazon tablet and so confusing in iPad. In Amazon kids tablet, we are getting “oops something went wrong for more than 2 weeks” and there is a forum in which lots of folks complained about it as well. So installed the iPad app but the settings from my profile was not synced and I had to re-enter everything. Even after entering, games didn’t show up
No games or apps! 1/5
How come there are no games or apps on the iOS version?! It still costs the same but you are missing out on a ton of content. This is nuts! Shame on you on Amazon!
Be careful!!!! 1/5
By website customer
They make it so hard to cancel!! I got a year free with a kindle kids edition. I thought it ended but didn’t realize that have been charging me. I have been trying to unsubscribe for an hour without success. I’ve read this is an issue!!!!
Missing a lot of content 1/5
Figured I’d try this app on my phone because the Kindle Fire is unbearably slow. The amount of content missing is staggering. There are no games or videos available. Highly disappointed. The Kindle Fires are garbage and I was hoping I could switch to an iPad or Galaxy tablet. Because Amazon limits content to outside devices the Freetime service is pretty much worthless.
Needs Improvement, Lacks Manageability 3/5
Very hard to navigate.
No offline capability 2/5
This app has potential however, Amazon has failed to accurately advertise its offline capability. You can only download content for viewing offline if you also own or purchase the kindle fire tablet. Will be canceling this subscription as it cannot be used on the go.
