Outstanding Shared List Application 5/5
Simplifies the planning, listing, shopping, preparing and sharing of food preparation from beginning to end!
Fabulous Organization Tool 4/5
We use this to track groceries, packing lists for vacations, to do lists. The family sharing is awesome.
Doesn’t update shared lists ...... 1/5
App rarely syncs updates to shared users
I was trying to clear a pop up for a subscription thru the AnyList App. Instead I accidentally purchased it and when making inquiry about cancellation they tell me this is controlled by Apple and not by them! The subscription was for Any List not anything Apple controls. I used to recommend this app but given their lack of customer support I will no longer recommend to any one.
The best way to share a grocery list 5/5
Lifesaver for grocery shopping for my family. Love the family subscription plan. Keep up the great work!
Best app for recipes & lists! 5/5
I’ve tried every app available in the Apple App Store for Recipes and various list management, and nothing comes close to the versatility. Well worth the subscription fee.
Love this app! 5/5
I don’t know how we survived before we used AnyList. My husband and I have crazy schedules and this app makes life so much easier!
Helps at the store 4/5
I like the categories and quantity features. Makes my trips to the store easier
Great app, but... 3/5
By Tom McElvy
Advertised features are confusing to set up; it required an email to understand. I THINK we have everything working now
Great shopping app! 5/5
Works really well between Apple and Android phones. Easy to use.
Additional view would be helpful 4/5
Please make it so that when I am viewing a recipe full screen on my iPad in landscape mode, the ingredients and steps show up next to each other, essentially split screen. That way I won’t have to constantly scroll back up to see quantities of things as I’m going through the steps. That would be a huge improvement to a wonderful app. Thank you!
Your recipes everywhere! 5/5
Anylist is free and it is great. Start your list on any device and continue it with whatever is at hand. I have the paid version and it is worth every penny I’ve paid. I can import recipes straight from the web and drop the ingredients into a shopping list. I can also change the number of servings and the ingredients are adjusted accordingly.
Great app! 5/5
I highly recommend this list app! I’ve been using this app for years, both free and paid. The free version is awesome, but the paid version offers more features and I don’t mind paying the $14.99/year. My husband and I are both huge fans of being able to compile various lists to share that sync, so I can send him to the store and know what’s been grabbed or I can add more stuff and know it won’t be forgotten. Another great paid feature is recipe import feature and it works on most websites, I’ve only had a few issues where a recipe didn’t import quite right. Overall this app has always been top notch with minimal “bugs” needing to be fixed.
Must have 5/5
Much more powerful than Notes. This app immediately made it to my home screen.
Just another stupid list 1/5
Why doesn't anyone make a good shopping app for iOS? This is marginally better than the rest, but it's extremely annoying. All shopping apps need to be compared to Handy Shopper, which was originally made, many years ago, for the Palm Pilot. Why? Because Handy Shopper was designed for HOW we shop, not for WHAT we shop. The Android apps, To Market and To Market Pro do this too, although a bit more unnecessarily complicated than Handy Shopper.
Your app does a really lousy job of working the way we shop. For instance, i don't want to see a bunch of stores listed under each item. Is that really how you shop? I mean, do you think: "I need butter, now where do I get it?" Of course not.
Here's how a person shops: You're passing by Trader Joe's and think--I think I need to stop here, but I can't remember what I need to get. So you click on TJs, and there is your list! If using To Market, that exactly what happens. No extra words under each item, nothing cluttering up the list.
A list should be a helper, a memory- saving device. But an electronic list should do much more. It should gather information, hold information, and offer back that info in the more seamless way possible. This list makes it impossible to do those things.
The examples of how well To Market works compared to how poorly your app works are endless. And endlessly frustrating for this consumer. And after finally paying your $10 fee, I find that the added features make this weak app even more unusable. Ironically, To Market is half the price of yours. For that price one gets an app that can be customized for everything from grocery stores to auto parts, all under the same list, without any store lists conflicting with each other.
If you want to create an app that works the way people shop, hire some female designers who have shopped for family for at least 10 years. Clearly this app was designed by 25 year old men who have little to no household experience.
I want my money back.
Great app 4/5
Love that it keeps my recipes, I can meal plan easily. Next they need to link it to and instacart type app so I can purchase groceries easily.
Is there a feature to scan the barcode on food items? This would be AMAZING
AnyList rocks! 5/5
Awesome app. I keep finding more uses for it every week.
Love the flexibility, true to its name AnyList 5/5
Love the import recipe feature, add to grocery list, I use the lock list feature when doing Christmas shopping.
Really helps the family communicate
No QR scanner?? Used Grocery IQ for years. Loved scanning empty packages to add to list. No scanner...no good.
Helps us eat better! 5/5
By Dan 1.0.0
My wife asked me to help out more with meal preparation. I really needed some help, including finding good recipes and managing grocery shopping . I checked out several grocery list Apps and chose AnyList as it seemed to be the most capable.
I have found AnyList to be a huge help. So far what has been most helpful has been:
A) Easy recipe importation, can pull from many sources. Also easy to share recipes with others, whether they have AnyList or not. It was easy to compile enough recipes to provide good variety. As a result we are eating less prepackaged food and have a healthier and more varied diet. My wife agrees.
B) Clear recipe layout. This makes it easy to follow the recipe on screen while cooking. My wife agrees.
I opted to disable screen timing-out while AnyList is in use. I have used recipe scaling several times as well.
C) Easy grocery list generation. This took a couple learning attempts to more or less master in practice. I find it better to use, as much as possible, units of measure such as cups, ounces etc, rather than “eaches”, as it is easier to resize recipes and substitute items at the store if necessary. I need to do a bit more category customization and to create a list of sundry items not included in recipes.
My wife disagrees. She still prefers making her shopping list from scratch on paper. She tried using a printout from AnyList and found it somewhat cumbersome. She would like to see the list compiled such that items do not repeat when called for by multiple recipes. Other on-line reviews have also mentioned this. I find shopping from the list on my mobile is much less cumbersome and repeated items are a negligible nuisance. Sometimes I like being reminded of the menu item and other times I am annoyed that this has crowded out notes I had added to the recipe ingredient.
D) Recipe categories are nice. I found it useful to split vegetarian main dishes from non-vegetarian. I am trying to build a good library of vegetarian dishes. Other categories such as soups, salads, deserts etc make it easier to find recipes and to plan a weekly menu.
At this point I am sold on AnyList and expect to rely on it more and to use more of its capabilities. I plan to upgrade to the family version and get both of us more fully on board.
Best in Class! 5/5
Even years after I first started subscribing, I continue to have zero desire to wonder if there are better apps out there. Which is significant because I am the type who will download a huge amount of similar apps, choose one, and then either remain fiercely loyal or have so many things pop in to my head that I wish the app did that I’m constantly looking for a better app.
My review from years ago had some feature requests. Those were worked in long ago. Don’t have any requests right now. The developers will find out when I do 😉. The app has grown a lot!
No need to write more because all of the other reviews are super long!! Passionate users, great app. I never subscribe to anything except the family subscription for AnyList. That says a lot.
AnyList is Awesomely Useful 5/5
By Word Crafter
I have been using the Complete version of AnyList for about 6 months and I absolutely love it!
For starters, I created a multiple-category list before Christmas (gifts for others, homemade projects to complete, items to bake, etc.) to help me stay organized and focused. I actually have about 8 lists (e.g. things to do around house, categorized by room; project ideas that I can order by priority; shopping lists for non-grocery stores; old movies to watch when I have time; etc).
Specifically I love that I can individually decide to use or not use categories. Its great that I can change and/or reorder categories as well as items within categories.
Of course my main list is for groceries. There are many helpful tools within that list that I haven’t quite mastered (related to tracking prices, viewing by store, etc), but I know they’ll be great when I do. I love that I can check ingredients in a recipe and have them added to my grocery list, along with what recipe they’re for.
Speaking of recipes, that component is awesome, especially being able to download recipes from websites. It’s great to have all my recipes with me in case I get an idea when I’m shopping.
In addition to using the Meal Planner in advance, I also use it to track what I actually ate after the fact so I can monitor my nutritional input.
The Help section is extremely, well, helpful. Once I sent a question to Tech Support and I heard back within a few hours (if not less).
I downloaded the app to my desktop and appreciate that I can enter things using a keyboard instead of fingers on my phone. It’s so slick!!
I wholeheartedly recommend AnyList Complete version.
Always with me 5/5
By The roundboy
My wife and I have AnyList on ALL of our portable devices(iPhones, iPads)! We have lists for grocery shopping (today, tomorrow, food projects and for different stores) and lists for travel (favorite restaurants, places to visit and things to take with). When we go into a store to shop, she goes in one direction me in another, when either picks an item from the list the list updates and there is no duplication. We both use the recipes (storing favorites by rating, internet searches, populating shopping lists and adjusting batch sizes and quantities . . . and Yes! Cooking). WE WOULD NOT! WANT TO DO WITHOUT THIS..........!
Best App in the App Store 5/5
By Lady Aero
I’ve had this app for about a month and it’s been one of the most useful apps I’ve ever had! I signed up for the subscription and it is so worth it. I love being able to import recipes directly from the web, categorize them myself, and easily click on ingredients to make shopping lists that my husband and I can both change. You can even click a button to see ingredients quantities for modified serving size. Kudos to the developers for making a truly useful app!
Works perfect. Love it
The BEST ( easy, customizable, daily ) 5/5
By SEC CT
This is hands down the best list maker app ever. I’m going into my third year of using it, DAILY, at that. I’ve tried ToDoIst, and many others.
This is it! Easy. Quick. Intuitive. Customizable. I use it daily for over 7 running lists from ToDos, Groceries, Gift ideas, Job Searches etc.
JUST A THANK YOU to the developers. I’d be lost without it. And I now have far less scraps of note papers :)
Spot on .
Incredibly helpful 5/5
Best app ever!
Love it!!! 5/5
Great app! Keeping in sync with the wife is totally worth the subscription!
Honestly one of the most convenient, easy to use and efficient apps I have! I love this! It makes grocery shopping so much easier and I can coordinate with my boyfriend to keep meals easier! The family plan is totally worth it, too!! I definitely recommend this app (and do to anyone I come into contact with 😁)
Best App for Recipe organization!! 5/5
Thank you for creating such an awesome app! I LOVE AnyList. It allows you to keep all recipes in one place, loads a picture for you or u can load one yourself. It is so easy to use and I was pleased to receive updates to know what other things I can do through the app! I have been recommending this app to my friends, it is awesome! On Pinterest, I found that it would not let me load the recipes from there... but it did after opening them up in safari and then loading them to AnyList right from the website:) Thank you for such an amazing app! Now I don’t have to keep taking screenshots of recipes and forgetting them somewhere in the hundreds of pics on my phone. 😉
Best place for all your lists and recipes 5/5
I have used this for years and it is the best place to keep your grocery list. You won’t forget the list in the house and it is always handy to add an item.
I have also used the recipe feature for years. I like that not only do I have my recipes easily at hand but the ingredients can easily be imported to your shopping list. Recently they added a feature where you can import a recipe from it seems any website and it comes in just perfectly. I have used this a few times now from different websites. The other day I decided to make a salmon sheet pan dish and when I was in the supermarket I downloaded a new recipe and then imported the ingredients to my shopping list. It is the best!
I am the master of lists so I have all kinds of lists on this app. For example, I have a list of books I have read alphabetized by author name and I take a picture of the summary from the book jacket to include with it. I have a standard packing list since I travel a lot. I have a to do list, etc...
Also, when I got a new phone the lists imported.
Try it you will love it.
Love how this app sinks across devices 5/5
Easy to use and very functional.
UNPARALLELED Support & ACTIVE Development 5/5
I’m STILL using and depending on this app for any list that I need. And now, with the improved handling of item categories in version 4.9, it’s even better! My roommate and I share a shopping list, so now we’re assured of getting all our new items into the same category, thus helping to avoid duplicates. It’s also almost instantaneous when using shared lists, or with syncing between multiple devices (or both)! And, as the years go by, AnyList is now even more INDISPENSABLE, as my memory is failing me at a (seriously) alarming rate :(!
My point is that, if you NEED a dependable app, that ALWAYS works, NEVER fails (as far as I can tell), and is easy, fast, intuitive, and very reasonably priced, this is your app! I usually don’t remember to write a review ;), but in this case, I tip my virtual hat to the developers (or doff my chapeau)?
The release of version 4.9 also emphasizes the point about ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT of the app by the developers, as the years tick by. So, thank you very, very much, indeed. I literally use this app many times, EVERY SINGLE DAY, and it’s response has always been STELLAR.
This may even push me over the fence into getting an Apple Watch (or give me a good excuse to have one ;).
(And, NO, I’m not connected with them in any way whatsoever. In these ultra-cynical times, unfortunately, I thought it necessary to specifically say that.)
Not so free 1/5
This App is stated as being free, but as soon as I try to use the meal planning portion, I am asked to upgrade and pay. And no way to cancel the account once you want to delete. Irritating! - never wrote a review before but I felt now is the time. Don’t boast about being free and then charge me for services.
Easy to use 5/5
By mostly satisified
I have finally found a good to app for recipes and shopping lists. This app makes it easy to combine recipes from other sites and add to my shopping list.
Changed our household 5/5
Coordinating our grocery shopping was a challenge but no more. I bought the subscription so I could have a list on my watch, so I never have to take the phone out of my pocket when I’m in the store. AnyList is beautifully done, and improves with every version.
We use it for everything! 5/5
By Timothy (Family Dad)
Tremendous collaborative planning tool for device-enabled family. We use it for grocery and shopping list, but also chore list, projects, trip preparation, event planning — so much better than paper list or white board. Has eliminated a lot of miscommunication and time wasted. More time for fun stuff!!
Incredible App 5/5
Love this application.. it is compatible with Siri and Alexa. So easy to add items to the shopping list or to do list and it is immediately available on the iWatch or iPhone. Mrs can tell Alexa or Siri of an item while I am at the store and it is there on the spot. This has done wonders for our communications.
Deleting lists 4/5
By Gamma Rays
Is there a 2 step process to delete a list. My well planned lists have disappeared a couple times.
Highly Functional per long-time user 5/5
This app is a lifesaver!!! The functionality is simply superb!
It has an import function so if you find a recipe online, you just press a button and it pulls the whole recipe in. You can manually enter too. I love saving all my recipes electronically so I can have them all in one place. When it’s time to cook, I pull up the recipe on my iPad and cook away! One of the best features in the recipes is that it will multiply or split the recipe for you, so if it’s six servings but you don’t need that much, you can cut it in half if you’d like and it will adjust all the ingredients amounts accordingly. It will do the same if you need to double or triple the recipe. Yes, it will.
The meal planning function is incredibly useful. It’s easy to plan, visualize, and even adjust as needed. I just love seeing the whole week planned out. Other than deciding, it makes all the planning so easy!!!
The grocery list function is the reason I started using AnyList, after trying several others (and by several, I do mean 7-10 others). It has everything you need. First, just being electronic means I can add anything to my list at any time (while at work, out with friends, walking the dog) because I always have my phone with me. Plus, I will always have my list with me, even if my trip to the store is spontaneous. You can have multiple lists. My favorite part is that you can pull the ingredients from your recipes into the grocery list!!! So after meal planning, that’s the first thing I do so I’m all set when it’s time to shop. It really is an all-in-one app.
The interface is easy to use. It is pleasing to the eye. It is customizable. I will also mention that I have made more than one improvement suggestion and the AnyList team is responsive and has even implemented some of my ideas!
I would highly recommend this app to anyone who is looking for a grocery list, recipe, or meal planning app. It’s all there at your fingertips. Couldn’t ask for a better app!
Great app 5/5
By Gene 66
I find this app functional and very easy to use
Love this site. Keeps me efficient 5/5
I’ve used several different sites and AnyList keeps me organized with lists and recipes that pop items for your recipes right into your grocery lists. I also enjoy being able to email recipes to friends and relatives. In the past week I have sent recipes to my granddaughters that they requested. They were impressed at how quickly I responded...thanks to AnyLists recipe option. I am also so pleased with the customer support...they are fast and efficient to help you with any questions or issues you might have. I love AnyList!!
Love Any List 5/5
This app helps us buy less. My husband and I share the list and try to only purchase list items. So glad we started using it!!!
The best list app ever 5/5
I used lots of list apps over the years for grocery shopping, packing, etc. this is by far the best list app, especially for lists that contain lots of repeatable items.
The interface is very straightforward and easy to use. With the reasonably priced subscription, you get syncing across all devices and other features. The support is excellent. Highly recommended.
LOVE this app! 5/5
By Mama Sm
So far the best recipe app I’ve used. Very easy to use! I love the fact that if I need to add a new recipe that can’t be transported over, I can just copy and paste ingredients without having to add each one individually.
My favorite app! 5/5
I originally got this app to use as a grocery list for my phone, but soon discovered it did so much more! I love being able to easily save any recipe I find online to one convenient place... the new direct import feature is amazing. This is a very user friendly app that does what you need it to without cluttering it up with a bunch of unnecessary stuff. This is always my go to app when deciding what to make for dinner; I use it regularly. One of very few apps I pay for, and worth every penny!
Sharing Lists 5/5
By Loyal Rams Fan!!!!
This app is the best! Great to have the option to share with as many people in your contacts!
