App not working 2/5
I have used this app a lot in the past, but it is not working at all with the iPhone X.
The apps looks great but it is missing football. Please add something to test your throwing speed.
This don’t work, I am requesting my money back. What a waste. Do not waste your time on this app
Lack of support 1/5
Lack of updates, esp for newer model phones, wish I would have not spent the money on in app purchase.
Looking for to trying it out 3/5
Going to try it with tennis and baseball this week. We'll see how well it works. Developer finally contacted to help, we will try again.
Don't download 1/5
This app is horrible I dumped $12 into it and came back 2 days later and says that I still need to pay to unlock speeds over 40mph. Plus even when I tried using it, it never said any speed.
Very limited and difficult to use 1/5
For baseball, you can't use during a game since you need to be on the field. Must hold phone absolutely still to use. Was not accurate for me.
This app is crappy, and it charged me after offering free if I invited friends!
Not free 2/5
Only free for kids 8 and under. The free version is only for speeds up to 40 mph. They say "free upgrade" if u share the app with others and again it only goes up to 40 mph. Other than that it's ok.
Velocity app 5/5
By Bozeman Lax
This app is lots of fun! The speed seems to be very consistent and it is easy to use!
Been using this app for 3 months and able to build up my pitchers speed by 3-5 mph faster.
Don't buy the upgrade 1/5
Downloaded thinking I could clock my sons pitch speed in game. Found out I had to purchase an upgrade to unlock speeds over 40. Purchased the upgrade. Next, I find out the camera has to be set up 20ft in front and 20ft to the side in order to work! This should be clearly stated before the upgrade not after!!! Don't spend the money unless u wanna just check bullpen!
Impressive speed radar from iPhone 5/5
I measured app against tennis speed radar item called netplayz and got similar readings. So $11 for the app or $100+ for radar gun or tool.
4.5 tennis player. I use it for serve and measuring different strokes and seeing speed variation.
Great idea 5/5
Idk if it's free or not 2/5

Works great 5/5
Saw this app on Facebook and decided to give it a try. I have a Bushnell Velocity gun that I normally use during baseball practice or my 13 yr old son's pitching practice. This app is way better and much easier to use. I purchased the higher velocity in app purchase ($11.99) due to my son throwing harder than 35-40 mph. The regular app is free. Set up was super easy (they have an instructional video if you need it). Based on their side by side comparison video (YouTube), it's more accurate than my Bushnell gun too. The Bushnell gun didn't readout about 25% of the time, and so far, this app hasn't missed once! My son tried off speed, fastballs and breaking balls, and it picked up every pitch from the mid 40s to the upper 60s. This app works great!
Stay away! 1/5
Not used like a real radar gun - set up is absurd
Save your money
Love the app 5/5
Great app for all sports
App does everything it says. Me and my son used it in our back yard with a fence and trees without a problem. I will say that you need light. We tried it outside the first day around 8:30 pm and didn't get the results. The next day we were back out there around 4 and worked like a charm. We both love it
Fun app 5/5
Love it. Use if for my daughter pitching fast pitch softball. Seems consistent and fairly accurate.
Works just like a $1200 gun. They also have a great partnership with one of the best trainers in MLB. Pitchharder. Video analysis offered through this app is spot on.
Amazing App! 5/5
Amazing App! Just downloaded.. Be sure to watch the set up videos... Definitely helped. Works great!! Thanks !!
Excellent for personal metrics! 5/5
This has been an excellent tool for improving my tennis serve--I highly recommend it for anyone looking to measure their performance.
Definitely a fun app for the family! 5/5
I saw an article on this app written up by Inc. Magazine and just had to try it out. I had a little pitching contest with my nieces and nephews while they were in town for a visit. To my surprise my 16 year old niece was able to pitch almost as fast as me! (her marathon running, gold metal athlete uncle) I definitely recommend downloading this app. It was easy to use and a lot of fun for my family. Who knows, maybe you'll find some hidden talent in yours…!
I can only imagine that users with negative reviews either didn't watch the setup tutorials or are trying to use the app in environments with too much background movement because it works great for me!
Great tool! 5/5
I've used this app many times with my 11yo select player. If you set it up exactly how the directions tell you to, you will see how great and accurate the app works. It's also a great motivator. When my son doesn't want to work bullpen, I tell him i'll set up the radar and we can see if he can beat his fastest throw. That usually gets him off the couch. It's also great because I can see his fastball progress (he can hit 60 regularly) but when working on his change up, it's good to have a quantifiable tool to show him how much slower his change should be from his fastball. We aim for 45 mph and ensure mechanics are the same as the fastball. Without this app, it would be a lot of guessing about what it working and what isn't. Highly recommend the full app.
Great for hockey. 5/5
I don't know what the negative reviews are talking about, this app is awesome. I've used it on ice and my outdoor training area at home. High quality, shows a lot of information. Fun to use. Definitely a great training tool as well.
My ice hockey coach has a high tech hand held police grade radar gun for clocking in our shot speeds so we decided to put this app to the test and it didn't fail. If it wasn't exactly the same reading then it was within a tenth of a mph. Didn't expect an iPhone app to work so well. Highly recommended! For fun and for ice hockey training.

Really works!! Watch the video on how to setup and it works perfectly! Best app on the App Store. I used it for tennis. AWESOME!!!!
Don't buy! 1/5
I bought the app and the next day it wanted me to buy it again, ripoff. I set it up as per I instructions for softball. 20 ft and 20 ft and the speed is at least 8-10 mph off. It is consistent, however; it doesn't show the correct speed the ball is traveling. The app needs much more work before it will meet it's advertise goal.
By System don't work
Set up doesn't work and they ask you to upgrade even after I paid $11.99.
I'm giving this five stars because it seems to actually work. my primary use is for tennis and I get consistent readings and it is ACCURATE. It becomes a lot easier to use after watching the videos. Love it so far.
Awesome.....When it recognises that it's purchased 4/5
Very consistent with good lighting. Sometimes does not recognize that its been purchased. Also, only good for about 25-30 pitches before it locks up.
The technology that went into this is impressive. The comparison with a radar gun really shows how accurate this can be. You need a ton of light, so make sure you use it outside.
As accurate as professional radars!!! 5/5
This app is crazy cool. I have used professional Doppler radars before and Velocity is just as accurate, easier to use, and doesn't cost $1,000. I highly recommend this app for any baseball pitchers or tennis players. Could definitely see it being useful for the other sports available in the app. Can't wait to see how this app evolves as the iPhone processing power improves.
Doesnt work 1/5
It appears you have to be EXACT on its placement, or its not accurate. Not able to place it there for game use obviously. Wasted $11.99.
I wanted to test tennis serves and swings. It seemed to work well but the free version only checks to 40 mph. You need to pay 11.99 to get any faster speed.
Great in perfect settings 1/5
By trey vince
Ok so this app would probably be great in a perfect setting not good for in game radaring you need to be in a well lit area so practice at night it works but maybe at 50% and i think the timing is a little off
Heres an example my son who is 12 probably can throw a baseball around 45-50 mph the radar gun would slip about 40% of the time and say he just through 93mph or 110mph lol there is no way he can throw that hard and its constantly freezing i feel like i wasted 15$ on this for nothing
Ummmm.... Awesome! 5/5
What a great application and tool! Super simple to setup (be sure to check out the very helpful videos) and very accurate. Not only does it help me with coaching my son but also our 10U travel team. I purchased the pay version within 20 minutes!!
By Swag Master Damon
It was impossible to use outside and it would only go up to 35 don't get
Free Version Max 35 mph 5/5
I downloaded the free version to give it a try. The max my daughter hit was 35. She has been clocked at 43-48 with a radar gun. Now I know that they say the max for the free is 40 mph. My expecations was to see the app do whatever it does when the speed is ABOVE the max(aka say "over Max", "Be blank" or just read the max number "40"). I got a few questions into their support to see why the free was only hitting 35 when my daughter has hit 45 mph. It could be explained, so I am not going to give this a bad review, but won't give it a great reveiw until I hear back from them .
It definately does detect the ball speed. Her change up was slower than her fast ball. I threw some slow ones and it read 22mph. I just don't know how accurate it is. It could be a good tool just to say "You are faster than that person" or "Your change up is X mph slower than your fast ball".
SO 3 stars it is. Until I hear back from them.
I heard back from the company, within a few hours. If you don't send a friend request/email, the max speed for free app is 35. It goes up to 40 after friend request. When the speed is higher, it says "Greater than 40", but displays 40.
It is enough to for me to buy the full version.
Have a tough time using this outdoors if there's any type of breeze blowing. The app tells me that there's too much motion going on so won't take a reading. If the phone is moving at all then you will not be able to get a reading. So it's not that often that I can go out on the field and bot have some type of breeze that will disrupt the phone.
It's very hard to read the screen on the iPhone after a ball goes by. The brightness of the readout numbers between the background is not very good. The best thing to do is link between two smart phones so you can have the reading in your hand as seen the ads instead of trying to read the one that's on the ground.
For the red light issues 5/5
By Portland Little League Coach
For anyone who has issues with the red light (most complaints are about this this), you can't hold this in your hand. You MUST set it down. Lean it up against your water battle. I have NEVER had a Red Light issue when it was on the ground. Nobody has steady enough hands to hold their iphone or ipad still enough to make it work. Don't make it harder on yourself. Set it down, walk away and let it do its job
At first I wouldn't get a reading. I emailed athla and they got back to me in a flash. Finally worked very satisfied. Worth the money.
Waste of Money 1/5
Couldn't get this thing to work AT ALL. Paid $8 for baseball, nothing. No matter where I placed my phone, no matter how it positioned, never got one single reading -- always an error about too much motion. Funny that there is a video on the company's website that shows the primary camera being used, yet the app only uses the front camera. And there is ZERO visibility to where you are pointing the phone because there is no picture displayed back, only the black screen ready to display speed - yet but the blinking red dot saying "too much motion" I can't believe the total lack of anything useful. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MESS.
This app is awesome. It just took a while to set up the location of the phone but after that, it worked so well. This is so much more affordable than a real radar gun and in has the same accuracy.
Great App! 5/5
The app can indeed detect fast serves. I got several that were over 80 mph. One key is that it requires bright outdoor sunlight to work properly. Short of a $2000 radar gun, this is the best app for checking on and improving your tennis serve speed.
Great, ingenious app!
Great app! Easy and accurate. 5/5
My friend set it up at Golden Gate Park with the Varsity Boys Gateway High School Baseball team. They threw pitches for over half an hour and it picked up virtually every one. Ten kids lined up to test their throws and then kept getting back in line. Most kids threw in the 50s. The pitcher threw as high as 69mph. Even a girl from the stands came down and threw in the 40s. Then one kid on the team, who wasn't even a pitcher, threw a 78 mph ball. The kids gasped and thought it was a mistake - but then he threw them again and again. He had no idea he had such a great arm. The pitcher said, "you should try out! We need more pitchers!" The team was second in the league at the time. It makes you wonder how many other kids out there have hidden talent and don't even realize it! Not sure why the other reviewer had a problem. Just be sure no one moves during the pitch if they are standing in view of the device. At 10x cheaper than the least expensive radar out there - this is a great app!

App is very cool could you add lacrosse please.
Tried to use the app in our backyard. We followed the instructions to a T and never got one reading on the radar. It kept reading too much motion, even when it was on the ground like it said in the instructions.
Now working on iPhone 6 3/5
By Add LY7WU2
Forgot to post last time. The last update before this one, fixed the app. I got no reading before and now it works! I accurately got my sons speed in a bullpen. One recommendation is add something to help with setup angle. That took the most adjustments to get right.
Don't buy it.
