many trails missing 1/5
Very few local trails shown near me in Patapsco valley park. Paid $10. All I got was pictures of some very old topo maps. Detail very poor too. Google maps shows many more trails than this thing does. Ironically I found physical venza signs on the physical trail. But the map does not show the trail where they exist.
Surprisingly Useful! 5/5
With all of the mapping options out there, this one really snuck up on me. I used it in the Shawnee National Forest and it was very reliable in showing current locations on the various trails and spurs that aren’t as easy to decipher in person.
I would really like to have an updated map of the Ozark National Forest
Almost perfect app 4/5
By Sooooo uncool
It be only thing that would make it better was if it had an arrow with my dot so I would have a better idea of where to go at an intersection.

Love the reliability. Platform is awesome and always updated year by year when available. Price is well worth the map.
Does not support iPhone 7 screen size 1/5
Loaded on iphone 7 and cannot read any of the menus. What a piece of junk
By nicknane? right
A map I purchased wouldn’t allow me to do the free update, then disappeared altogether off the tablet, had to purchase it again. Also I couldn’t ever get the map on my phone. I purchased it on my iPad but with the same Apple ID on both.
Avenza rating 5/5
By woods rapper
As a low tech forester in northern Maine I have to wonder how we did our work 25-30 years ago without the techy gizmos like Smart phones & the Avenza app. It’s essential to know where you are, yarding distance, how many acres are in a cutting block, etc.
We use through out the year for different outdoor sports. Very handy snowmobiling different areas.
Export settings are horrible 1/5
No easy way to export tracks for work. Everytime i try to export the tracks for a job avenza always included every track I’ve ever made on the app even when I select the specific track file on a layer. I really wish my company finds another spatial mapping app that is actually intuitive to use.
Just awesome 5/5
By Yougie Bear
I used this app at Gooseburry State Park in Minnesota. It was exactly “dead on” for my location on the trails. A new tool for my hiking adventures now.
Faulty programming 2/5
Unable to rate this app as it will not function with accessibility font settings changes. My fonts are changed for a reason so I will not use any app that doesn’t comply with this change. This app should not be allowed on the store until they have fixed their programming so it works correctly with the operating system’s requirements.
Great map app 4/5
Great map app that has almost all my favorite maps and nearly always works.
Tons of free maps in my area, totally enjoying the app!
Adaptability in your hands 5/5
By T-bone Fishstick
I was introduce to Avenza via job colleagues. I soon learned the vast amount of mapping tools, features, and preloaded maps available.
Being able to turn off cell data and have it accurately track is great. Nothing will replace good map, compass, & real gps skills, but this is a great additional tool for the great outdoors.
Must Have! 5/5
Never get lost again! Works very well. No monthly subscription. Just buy the maps you want.
What happened to searching for maps? 3/5
I used to love Avenza. I still use it with the maps i have in my collection, but to search for a new map, forget about it. I liked that you can put searching maps for recreation but now that option is gone so you get ALL the types of maps they have on file. I need hiking trails not topographical maps or other kinds of maps. Don’t even bother searching a specific area because it will send you somewhere else not even in your own State. The buttons cut off so you just see the top of the word (Download, next, previous...) so I have to guess what it says without pressing the buy button. So frustrating. I want to love this app again since I’m always out on the trails. Fix the problem please so I can get new maps without going to a different app.
Great addition 4/5
By map guru 157
In a world where few paper map producers are still in business, it’s refreshing to at least be able to find a reliable platform for PDF download, straight to your phone for viewing offline. Nothing is as good as a full size map and compass, but I am very happy with this addition/redundancy.
My favorite nav. App 5/5
By marc the animal
Easy to use. Has multi-use capabilities; biking, hiking, and exploring back roads or logging roads that often times do not show up on apps designed for similar uses. I’ve tried several and this is may favorite. Backtrack feature is nice for those of us who are navigationally impaired.
Love the maps 5/5
I use the maps on my side by side out riding trails.

I would enjoy this app much more if there was a far simpler way for us non tech savvy folks to get maps into this app. Developers please take note, Some us need a very simple and easy flow with clear step by step instructions with all tech jargon explained or left out. Thanks
Support team is cordially non-responsive 1/5
I have been experiencing a reported problem for nearly a year, and the software has received numerous updates. While corresponding with the software developers, they cordially give you lip-service, but fail to fix the problem. The problem that I reported is when importing files from iTunes file sharing, the dialog window that is presented does not alpha-numerically sort the files available for selection. Note that when I first reported the problem, their developers were adamant that the dialog Windows sorts by default, which must have been determined by having two test flies loaded on the system. I have upward of 2000 geo-tagged pdf files that I have modified for hunting in the state of Colorado. When these files are presented for import in an I sorted manner, selecting the needed map becomes an aggravating exercise in futility. If you have a lot of files from which to select, you should consider this as a warning because the support team is not competent to provide timely fixes to apparently simple problems.
Crappy save your money. 1/5
Doesn’t pull up any maps or live map where I’m at. Paid money but cancellation only prevents renewal. Save your money.
Most obtuse load+use app this year 1/5
By Bizeman MT
My city offers an online trail map for its entire nearby area...but from that moment on, getting it loaded onto this app and then knowing to use its value has been fraught with directions that don’t match screens and a lack of user help. I’m stuck with this app but I sure am not enjoying it.
More devices 3/5
I like it but it needs to work on Android 9 pie. It isn’t compatible with my new tablet 😡
Great app 5/5

I like the free topos. I use them all the time for hiking and for work.
My go to map app for ski touring 5/5
Avenza is so easy to use, let’s me upload or url import CalTopo maps, or has something useful available in the map store. I never go into the back country without it!
Its great!!! 5/5

Avenza pro 1/5
By Kelley Wisher
I paid to upgrade to pro yet every time I login it tells me I need to upgrade to do something. There is no way for me to access what I paid for. I give the app one star
Updated search is terrible. 3/5
I have been looking for a handful of maps using map search for 45 minutes. It used to be intuitive. Go to the map, find the extents, download. I don’t know what this is now. Broken. If you have maps on your device you’re all set. Getting there is now way more difficult than it used to be.
Upgrade is a downgrade 1/5
The app was useful in finding specific maps but since the upgrade those individual maps are no longer an option. Must buy a bundle, but may not be specific to ones needs, like mining claims, geological formations, etc.
Not much use 1/5
Trying to use online help is a never-ending loop that gets you nowhere. No explanations of map symbols found. Trying to figure out how to use is difficult. There has to be better apps available
Love it 5/5
By OPS Team
I love my Avenza Maps and use it all the time while out in the field collecting data
Colorado Walk-In Hunting 5/5
Copied Colorado Wildlife walk-in hunting maps into Avenza Maps on my phone. Used it all weekend to find walk-in areas and know where I was. Made the hunting trip much easier and more enjoyable.
Maps I purchased have disappeared 1/5
Recently my phone died and had to be replaced. The maps I had purchased are gone. I refuse to purchase again what you charged me for already.
You really shouldn’t have to gouge. Now it doesn’t recognize my nickname.
Free version doesn’t work 1/5
I’m participating in a hunting challenge near me and they have maps made for this app but no matter what option I used, the app would not allow me to save the maps. It wants you to use the pro version for a yearly fee. Waste of time.
Over priced 1/5
App is extremely difficult to use.
Serious oversight 5/5
I backed up my iPhone with this app and the Arizona trail maps. “Restored” my new iPhone from this backup and maps are gone. The app restored but not the maps. I could not get them from my iCloud account either. Other than this fatal flaw the app seems pretty good.
App developer responded and I can re-download maps. Thanks for the quick response!
Argentina Maps Lacking 1/5
By Buenos Aires Maps Not
I’m in Argentina, free maps are in Russian and all others come at a cost. Get it we all need to make coin but at least have one English option free.

This is the best app in the world!!!!!
It has great maps available for every area I go into and the tracking and navigation is also exceptional..

This is one of the most “unuser friendly” apps I have had the experience of using.
I tried to search and find snowmobile apps with no luck.

The only geo pdf map app 5/5
By austin larson 316
Gotta have it
Very limited 3/5
Looks like a very nice app for specific locations. I was looking for something with a wider variety of information. Received a very fast and nice response to questions I had about the app though. 5 stars for that.
Great tool for any outdoorsman 5/5
By Joey Helton
I downloaded this app for a college class I was taking. We went on two searches for missing persons and used the tracking feature to show where we searched. These tracks can be exported and overlaid on a map to show multiple tracks (recorded by different people) to show areas that were missed during the search, and to show the ground we covered.
Outside of class I use this for geocaching. I recently went on an 8-mile hike that maps helped me to find an easier access point to a trail, and the tracking feature helped to make sure I was on the correct path back to the car.
You can set multiple waypoints, color code them or use a symbol, and upload pictures to the waypoints for reference. There are also several coordinate formats to choose from! I love love love the tracking feature, you can see exactly where you went, how far you went, and how long you were tracking for, just remember to turn tracking off when you are done.
There are plenty of FREE MAPS available through this app and you can filter out the premium member maps, but remember to download them while you have WiFi/signal. They do not take long to download but you cannot use the maps without downloading them.

Jeep Must Have 5/5
Downloaded this ap and some maps of some local forests. I was so impressed that my coordinates was tracked on the maps and no cell service was needed. This is an off-road must have.
Great Hunting App 5/5
Great app. But wish it worked on the Apple Watch
