THE GARAGE A card for each vehicle: make, model, year, when it was bought, the mileage it is on now, fuel type, a photo, and which member of the family it belongs to. Two cars, four cars, a van only your father drives, each with a separate history. Local profiles keep track of who owns what, with no accounts and nothing to sign up for. MILEAGE AND SERVICE Update the odometer whenever you think of it and every reading is kept, so the history shows how hard a car is actually being used month to month. Service records sit alongside it: the type of work, the date, the mileage it was done at, what it cost, where it was done, which parts and fluids went in, and a note for anything that does not fit a field. Routine maintenance, oil, filters, pads, battery, tires, a repair, a diagnostic check, all in one list that stays with the car. WHAT IS DUE NEXT You set the intervals. Repeat after a number of months, repeat after a number of kilometers, or both at once, and the app works out the date or the distance still remaining and shows it on the home screen. Oil change in under two thousand kilometers. Inspection in three weeks. Nothing here is guessed for you: the app does not know your manufacturer's schedule and never invents one, it only counts from the figures you entered. COSTS, DOCUMENTS AND NOTES Any record can carry a cost, sorted into categories you can extend: service, repair, fuel, tires, insurance, parking, cleaning. Totals come out by month, by year or for the whole time you have owned the car, which is usually the first time anyone sees what a vehicle really costs to keep. Insurance, inspection and registration are kept as your own entries with their own deadlines, and a plain notes section holds the things you only remember at the wrong moment: which oil this engine takes, which door needs a second pull. THE DAYS YOU DID NOT DRIVE This is the part most car apps do not have. When you could have taken the car and walked, cycled or caught a bus instead, you log it. One tap gives you the short version, the car and the alternative, and everything else is optional: distance, a note, your own figure for what it saved. A whole day without using the car can be recorded as a car free day in its own right, which is counted separately from individual trips. HOW THE SAVINGS ARE WORKED OUT Only from numbers you provide. Enter your average consumption and the price you pay for fuel, add the distance you avoided, and the app multiplies them out and labels the result an estimate, because that is what it is. You can also skip the calculation and type one figure yourself, which is the better option when the trip would have cost you a toll or a parking space too. Nothing is looked up, and no number appears that you did not supply the inputs for. WHAT THE MONTH LOOKED LIKE Service and running costs for the period, car free days this month, this year and in total, how many trips you replaced and with what, your longest run, and the estimated fuel and money not spent. Look at the whole family or one vehicle, and set yourself a target such as a number of car free days or bicycle trips, with the progress shown plainly and no badges about it. WHEN A CAR LEAVES A sold car is archived rather than deleted. It leaves the active garage and keeps everything: its service history, its costs, its mileage record, the dates and the distances it covered while you had it.
