Update - Colors 1/5
Please return the color scheme to the old format. I am unable to see/read many items in the app with the new white on white color scheme. Issue statuses are practically impossible to make out.

This app updated on Sunday evening, and on Monday morning at 4:00 I was unable to see what was going on in my issues list. I could barely see the writing on the screen. When i was able to see enough to get into issues, when i made comment, the writing was white on white. After restarting the program, and hard restarting the ipad, and not having success, I tried to turn off dark mode on ipad. That helped a lot, but now the rest of the apps I use are bright... uggh. The new color scheme looks ok, but when working in bright areas it is hard to see status of many issues. I liked the nice blue buttons better.
There are still things that I don’t care for at all on this app, like having to sync in the foreground. Serious waste of time.
I really want to have my dark screen functionality back. Please fix! I will be happy to change my review.

The last update took the colors from high contrast to very low contrast. Now, it is difficult to see status of items. Almost nothing is visible in dark mode. I will change my review when the problem is fixed.

Can not Sign In to view software. I have repeat lay reset my AutoDesk password and still no Sign In.

Missing basic functions 2/5
Still wont allow me to sync my library in the background. I have to give up functionality of my iPad for several hours waiting for library to sync. Doesn't allow for batch optimization of documents so I have to wait for each page I view. Sure it's only once but embarrassing when a client is waiting on you to bring up a page that has not yet been viewed. These features need to be added ASAP. Not sure why it didn't have these in the beginning??

The updated BIM interaction tools are awesome! It runs our "large" model smoothly. Gravity mode makes navigation simple and the link to all my object properties is a game changer.
Keeps you organized on the site 5/5
This app is great for keeping up to date with what's going on with my projects. When I'm walking the job I can take photos and create issues for problems I see and they automatically go to the subs to fix. Syncing with the central database is key - everybody stays on the same page and subs can know about problems to fix without me having to go tell them or waiting for the next meeting. And I can see what issues are already there so I don't enter dupes. Having drawings out on the iPad is great too - I can figure out where I am or how something is supposed to be built without going back to the trailer.

I have been using the App since it was Vela Systems and it keeps getting better and better now that they are a part of Autodesk.
NOTE: this is not just an app for one-off markups of drawings and documents (there are plenty of cheap ones for that)- it is the mobile component of the Autodesk BIM 360 Field product. It is industrial strength and intended for companies to create and manage serious programs for Quality, Safety, Commissioning and Handover using either 2D or BIM. You use the iPad app either online or offline in the field, then sync up to the web. Anyone you give access to can then get to your issues and markups on the web via the web.
It is not intended to work as a single-user application. This app gets full functionality if you are connected to a user account, which also lets you sync w the web, the cloud-based way you can send issues to other project participants, including subcontractors, the architect, owner and anybody else you want.
So, in short, if you want a strong field management platform to use the iPad in construction, this is the product for you. If you are looking for a drawing markup tool for a single user, I'd suggest checking out other apps.

Vela iPad Client vs. Vela Windows Client 4/5

I have been very impressed with the features and ease of use of the Vela iPad Client. Just received the latest version of the Vela Windows Client and I am very eager to work with it. If the Window Client works well, we would save money due to the fact that every employee has devices with the Windows OS.
Great App 5/5
Great app for work in the field and in the office. Tracking issues, managing quality control, utilizing BIM in the field and on the go has improved our work. I can access reports and issues anywhere I go. I can review equipment, status, and % complete to mitigate risk in operations and in cost. Tracking items with subs, vendors and A/E teams is effortless through reports, scheduled correspondence to all affected team members is key. Senior management can quickly grasp the work in various stages of the project through reports and the dashboard. I look forward to using this on every project and the many more innovations Vela and Autodesk create.
Piece of junk software 1/5
It is not free. I have installed it and tried to use it. I just wanted to use it for the construction of a guest house. I checked pricing and to use this app they want a thousand dollars!! A thousand dollars for an app that I can use to make notes on top of a drawing or photo? Go jump! There are twenty other Apps that are free that I can use for this. I don't see anything other feature of this app that is useful. Don't waste your time with this app. One star
This solution just keeps getting better. The addition of task scheduling for inspections would have been big enough, but taking my model in the field? Amazing!
Very good software, constantly improving 3/5
I use Vela Mobile on my iPad all day long at a construction site. The software is a bit slow, but it handles over 10,000 issues well with some minor lag. The interface is great, and every few weeks there are updates with new features. Very nice software, thankfully it's always improving.

This is the first construction application that I've found that is designed for the iPad. Focus for this first version appears to be field checklists for quality control, safety and other areas. I liked in particular:
1. It is easy to use templates to create checklists
2. Completing checklists is fast - just touch the screen
3. It works offline as well as online
Really good app if you are a Vela Systems customer. As someone new to Vela Systems you can check out sample checklists. Looks great, easy to use, install etc. and I hear they will be adding a lot of new features to it in the coming months...
