I don’t seem to have the “become a charger” option on the app. The website isn’t being helpful either. I really am interested in being a charger and getting frustrated.
Too bad application, the app charge surcharges you don't know why and the rides are very expensive!
Constant Overcharging and App Errors 1/5
Expensive and doesn’t work. I gave it one star last month and I give it one star again. Deleted the app. Customer support is completely useless. These rides keep limiting my speed at 8mph and charging FULL price to ride. They call it bird because they fly away with your money.

The first couple scooters I tried, I couldn’t get them to unlock or work and you start getting charged before confirming the scooter is unlocked. Once I had one that was working, we had a blast cruising around San Francisco.

The Bird scooters themselves work great and are easy to start and end given the service works and you park in designated areas. However, when a situation arises when the scooter malfunctions and you are unable to end your ride anywhere, you are suddenly waiting 30 minutes on an active scooter ride trying to find any customer support number inside the app or company website. This company makes it ridiculous to get a timely response on a time-sensitive issue (the scooters charge by the minute so I expect a speedy response when something isn’t right). The chat bots tell me I need to wait 2-4 hours through an email to end an actively running ride. There are no company numbers on the app or even the main website, and I had to resort to Google to find a phone number.
When these scooters work properly, they are a great travel method, but customer service should absolutely be looked at and changed, because this is outrageous.

Cannot end ride 1/5
Rode for 10 minutes to try it out the walked around fruitlessly for 20 minutes trying to end ride, there were other scooters all around us. Tried to contact support which also was useless. Finally just left and got charged for far more time than we actually rode scooter. Rip off.

It says we logged in error and will look in to it. It said that for 2weeks!
I mainly use to get the bus stop if I’m running late so I can make it to work. They are fun to ride and really come in handy!

Bird does not do a good job at communicating how much the ride rate is. You pre load money, and they charge you again to “refill” without letting you know you’ve used up your prepaid ride. Horrible. Will not be using them again.

I rented 2 scooters for $10 each. After that authorized charge Bird just kept charging me and stole in total more than $80 through several unauthorized charges on my bank account.
There was no way to reach a person when we called and no reply on the email.
How can a company just get away with stealing from people just like that?
DO NOT trust your bank account info to this company, they are licensed thiefs.

I don't understand what is going on with my bird app. I have even switched to completely different phones, emails, phone numbers,SIM cards, everything and for some every single time I try to log in to the bird app it gives me the same issue. It's says that there is a network connection issue and to try again. For months now. Please help!

i never write reviews because i tend to just try to find the good in everything i buy but me and my friends got the day pass for this while on vacation. it shut down at 9:10 before we even got through our first ride, then the next day we tried to ride again but got charged ANOTHER 20 DOLLARS even though we had the day pass! this scooter company is unclear, tricky, steals your money, and is absolutely not worth it

I took a bird for what was suppose to be a 2 block ride up a hill to my car.. then when I got there it wouldn’t park saying it was a no ride area but the map not the bird notified me.. I ended up spending the next 10 min trying to find a place it would let me park the dumb thing.. which was back where I found it..
Customer service was “kind” enough to refund me for $1.26 of my ride.. when it was literally the bird and the maps malfunction. I even showed them where the map said I was clear to ride and park in that area..

The app is simple & effective with the bonus of showing battery charge before the ride and the tone to pick the right one out of a parked cluster. The other part of the experience is the scooter and the rental of the scooter. I spent $60 in four days on seven rides. None of them were particularly epic; four miles here, six or seven there. It adds up quick and makes for an ineffective means of transportation outside of just wanting to have a little fun once in a while. The price of it gives a sense of urgency to get to where you’re going instead of stopping to smell the roses along the way. Also, I don’t know about other cities but in mine the scooters don’t seem to be being maintained very well as every other one has a warped brake rotor and they don’t seem to be charged regularly. Sunday half of the scooters downtown were out of commission and I couldn’t find another with more than 60’s % charge. It was fun while it lasted. So much so it makes more sense cost-wise and function-wise to buy a scooter of my own which I have done.
