Bluefire Reader app reviews

  • Bluefire reader 1/5

    By NurseKillsHitman
Retired nurse with excellent computer skills and competent using lots of apps. Wanted to read the book about Edward Wayne Edwards by John R Cameron since I am writing a true crime memoir. Multiple attempts to access the book unsuccessful. Disappointed in my first and likely only experience with this app.
  • Arrival Rocks! 5/5

    By TFDrifterJJRX
It s nice to see (well sort of) that I m not the only one who has/had problems with finding that one particular mate. I never thought about casting a spell to lead me to her, then again I don t have three friends that are close to me either. Lucky for you -that the four in the book capture your imagination- turning yours and mine fingers into page turners, while their story unfolds like a movie. One of the characters is a practicing Wiccan, while the others just employ that special magical style that all women have. They all agree to try to cast a spell to change their luck with finding mates. From that point on: they and you are no longer one Earth/Terra/Sol 3 (whatever you call your home planet), {I would place the world on which they landed as being 6 or so spacial co-ordinates down either the Tau or Teh axis using N-Dimensional Mathematics} the best way to figure this planet is: if it s a myth here, they have them there. By the same token you ll find other creatures that can make your worst nightmares seem tame. If you like strong heroines in Science Fiction/Fantasy novels, this is a good read. I look forward to reading the next book (especially since the author left the book end as a cliffhanger). If this is going to be a serial, it promises to be an amazing one!
  • Bluefire is ok 2/5

    By ARC readin' Amy
When you are reading, it does what it needs to do, but it is pretty basic and I wish I could sync between devices.
  • Ok 2/5

    By Weylansbeffie
The book I just finished was bought because of points from a credit card. The app wouldn’t let me change the spacing or font. I constantly had to turn the page because of how few words were on the page
  • Easy reading 5/5

    By Guiltyreasons
Great layout. Nice and clean. Easy to use. Easy to add new books from laptop
  • Voice over is not supported 1/5

    By Wlm Sadie
I continually run up against this obstacle. One would think that in this day and age there would be more support for people with visual disabilities. VoiceOver has really improved my ability to access written materials. However, I am surprised that there is still supposedly excellent software out there that is incompatible with voiceover. I am currently taking a PhD level class I am unable to have full access to some of the library books due to PDFs not being able to be read by voice over.
  • Worse reader app 1/5

    By Calvin8662
This app doesn't allow you export your highligts, or book reference in order to use it for write paper, only allow to export the page number, it is a very low profile app for academic papers
  • The White Houses 5/5

    By Susan's Literary Cafe
I just loved Amy Bloom's White Houses. The love affairs of Elenor, and her lover. From the perspective, and voice of Hitcock. I loved the writing, the prose was poetic. It reminded me of the writing of, Paula McClain. I am a history buff, and Ms. Bloom description made you feel that you time travelled back. With everything exactly in the time. Down to the street lights. I had a difficult time at first reading. Because you think of our president, and First Lady with no flaws. That is not true. We are all human. Just keep that in mind while you read. I enjoyed reading, and recommend it highly.
  • What happened to my books? 1/5

    By MMills101
Bluefire has always been glitchy, but I have continued to use it because sometimes a book I purchas3 won’t open in my preferred app. So I updated the app, and all the books that were in my library disappeared. Of course, most of these are ebooks that I purchased from on online bookseller that has since closed, so I have no way of retrieving them. Not happy.
  • Good light-weight e-reader 3/5

    By JeremyCaney
Bluefire Reader is a pretty simple e-reader that covers all of the basic features, and works nicely. As with most other readers, it can connect to cloud storage (e.g., for downloading e-books), bookmark content, highlight text, and add annotations. It also has the ability to organize books into collections, which is handy if you have a lot of books. It isn’t as sophisticated as e.g. Marvin, which may be an issue depending on how you engage with the content. For instance, Bluefire doesn’t allow different colors or bookmarks or highlights, nor does it make it easy to copy selected text into an annotation (this is a several step process). That said, it does automatically date notes, and allow sorting them by date or location. The free version doesn’t appear to have any intrusive advertisements or visual impairments, which is nice. Personally, I’d like to see some more features, and especially in terms of organizing, sharing, and synchronizing annotations. But I’m also probably not the typical user here, in that I mostly read non-fiction for work and education, and take careful notes in the process. If you’re just reading e.g. ePubs casually then the features here should suit you perfectly fine.
  • Color schemes didn’t work. 2/5

    By Crissa Kentavr
Weird bugs in rendering. For some reason the color select is giving odd results. Since that’s why I was trying this reader... it does render things into single pages and is otherwise quite readable and free, which is a plus. I just wish the colors weren’t nearly random.
  • Does not sync—lost ALL my books 1/5

    By Stacybh
Despite what it promises in the description, the app does NOT sync between devices. What’s more, I got a new iPad, restored it from a backup of my old one, and the Bluefire app’s library on the new one is COMPLETELY empty. I even reset my new iPad to factory settings and restored it from the backup of my old one again, and still nothing. I’ve lost hundreds of books I am no longer able to download anywhere. The reading function itself isn’t bad, but it is unusable as an app if it loses all your books and doesn’t sync between devices. I’m logged in with the same Adobe username across all three devices (old and new iPads and iPhone), and none of them have synced with each other. To the app developers: fix this, and I’ll change my rating in a heartbeat, but as of now, you’ve cost me hundreds of dollars in lost ebooks, were I to sell my old device. I can’t sell my old iPad until this problem is fixed. It’s ridiculous. When it breaks fully (it’s already partly broken), I’ll be really screwed.
  • THE BEST! - And I’ve tried them all! 5/5

    By Baskim
I read a lot, and I responsibly claim that this is the most adaptable, and therefore the best reading app! The only app that allows me to utilize the full screen of my iPhone X.
  • Easiest reading app I’ve seen 5/5

    By TrullySunee
This app is very efficient and easy to use. It is very nicely made with all the features I need!
  • Characters Lives Melding 4/5

    By wileygreen
I enjoyed Book 3 in this series with all the child cooks and parental interjections. Wanda can keep me interested with her storytelling abilities. There’s nothing complicated about the plot; just building one story after another as she ties the characters lives together. As expected with children, their interactions are uninhibited. I like how the relationships between all the characters are developed and how Heidi Troyes balances it all and still manages to teach cooking. Life is about relationships and this series portrays it well. Enjoy!
  • Lost it’s glow 2/5

    By Indy2016
This last year the app has gotten progressively worse. When trying to return books it crashes. I read extremely fast and it crashes at the end of chapters. Unfortunately this is the app used by our public library and I am stuck with it. Developers please fix these bugs.
  • Bluefire Reader 4/5

    By cheapskate reader
Bluefire Reader is a good Kindle app clone that works for Adobe Ebooks that I download from the library. No bells and whistles. Has an annoying “verifying loan” feature that sometimes makes me connect to the internet to read a book. Good solid app.
  • Has potential, but needs improvement 3/5

    By C Farber
I like that it’s more customizable than other readers, but there are a couple things that annoy me. 1) Every other reader I’ve used, when you leave the app and come back.. it brings you directly to the book you were reading. This app brings you to the library instead. I know I can just press ‘now reading’, but it’s an unnecessary step. Once you’re in the middle of a book, odds are high the you’re gonna continue reading that book! 2) the app hangs frequently! I can be reading and flipping thru the pages, when all the sudden it doesn’t respond. Swipe, swipe.. nothing. It’s not the iPad because I can switch apps and do whatever else I want while the app is hung. This happens on multiple newer devices. If you give it 10 seconds or so it seems to come back, but it’s pretty ridiculous. The app has one purpose and that’s to display text. It has all kinds of time to have the next page ready while I’m reading the current page ** added note here, when it hangs it always seems to be at the end of a chapter 3) this is minor, but with all the freedom you have to pick your background and text color.. you don’t have the freedom to pick a highlight color. I had found an interesting color combo, went to highlight something and it didn’t highlight because of my color scheme 4) also minor, when dealing with RGB color selection, I’m used to seeing 0-255.. but for some reason this app uses 0-100.
  • Thank you for fixing my favorite reader! 5/5

Was bummed when I kept getting an error linking Dropbox. This update definitely made my day.
  • Dropbox support fixed! 5/5

    By asernick
    Love this app!
  • Worst PDF reader ever 1/5

    By 7Z7
I got this atrocity of an app to read a DRM protected ebook I need for my university classes. I need to log in with my Adobe ID, and it just gives me errors. Now I’m out the cost of an expensive ebook and the necessary materials to complete my course. This developer is awful.
  • Help!! 3/5

    By ArcticArtist
For some reason it is saying that there was a problem while downloading a book I want to read, I’m not sure what is going on or if it’s because I updated my phone to iOS 11 or if it’s just a glitch please fix this!!
  • No longer links to Dropbox 2/5

    By Maine743
This app needs an update to the new Dropbox API -- I can no longer download books through Dropbox. Please fix.
  • Great app but needs 1 thing 4/5

    By rekkss
Great app. I would just really like it if the night mode applied to the whole app’s interface as well. I always read my books with night mode on (white text on background) but then when I have to open the table of contents or the app’s main menu, I get blinded by all the bright whiteness. This is especially irritating when you’re reading in the dark at night. Can you please enable the night mode for the UI as well? Thanks!
  • Thanks 5/5

    Great App!
  • Dropbox 2/5

    By abillionlights
Can't link it to Dropbox. I've been using this app for years and I've never had any problems until now. This is my favorite ereader and it won't connect to Dropbox. :(

    By Teacher1941
I am a new user, so matters may yet go sideways, but currently I’m as happy as a clam at high tide with no one digging.
  • Bluefire 5/5

    By lovegiraffes
    It makes reading PDF's perfect.
  • Romance not to be missed 5/5

    By lovleelorraine
When I first started reading the book I thought oh no another Cinderella type story. And then I realize this is one of my favorite authors. She did not disappoint. A wonderful story with suspenseful characters. Yes there was romantic sex and the Author held it back into a waiting for it. By that time you really stand up and cheer. Or wish you had someone sitting next to you to share the romantic sexual moments. A true love story not to be missed
  • Best Ereader 5/5

    By Minneola Tangelo
For versatility of format downloads I've found BluFire Reader to be the most user friendly of all the one out there including Kindle and Kobo. I have an iPhone and I much prefer BluFire to the Apple reader.
  • Books disappear 1/5

    By HaroldnCA
Every now and then they update the app and all my books disappear. So very f-ing annoying!
  • Constant cashes 1/5

    By Darth Baizer
I just downloaded this reader as it was the required reader for a certain book. I cannot read the book because of this reader. Every time I try to turn the page, the app crashes and shuts down. Really disappointed
  • Good 4/5

    By Swaveybabygirl
Please add an option to increase text size
  • Wonderfully Balanced Excellence 5/5

    By B Nathanael
This book balances the research with the practical aspects
  • App Great When It Works 3/5

    By Sportsbiz
When it works, this is a great app that makes reading ePub books a very pleasurable experience. However, lately, it has been crashing more and more to the point where right now I can't use it at all. Books seem to load and if I click on information, it will return the proper information on the nook (title, publisher, pages, etc.) it just won't load any pages for me to read - very annoying as you can imagine. I can't figure out a work around and don't know who to contact so I'm hoping the developer reads these reviews and will tell me what to do.
  • Awesome way to download the best arcs 5/5

    By kimsbookstack
This wonderful website lets me speak directly to publishers and download all the newest books I need to read so I can make clear cut purchasing decisions and help patrons find the next best thing. Everything is organized well and I have never had to wait to get help from the help desk. Thank you for filling up my tbr pile!
  • OK app but a few bugs 3/5

    By CAMarathonRunner
This is a nice easy to use app. But a bit buggy because freezes or crashes on iPhone intermittently. Maybe time for an update to keep up with the iOS updates. Last one was over a year ago.
  • Slow, have to swipe 5 times or more 2/5

    By Nalacalli
My choice was this reader or Overdrive. This reader is slow and I can't never swipe the page to turn just one time. Have to swipe at it numerous times. It locks up and overall annoying reader but For harlequin books this is my only choice. I do like being able to edit the library which is why I still use it.
  • Terrible 1/5

    By Woolsac
    Embarrassingly bad. Wow.
  • Terrible search 1/5

    By nawhem
I'm reading textbooks on this app and the search takes 5 minutes using my iPhone 6s Plus. It's a terrible reader as well. I am looking for meaningful ways to transfer to another reader so that I can get work done time effectively. I hate this app and it's reader but there seems to be no other choice or options.
  • Potential 4/5

    By EEPPP
This needs improvement. Dictionary Orientation More appealing user friend home page Ability to have different shelve.
  • Response time by flipping pages 3/5

    By Infehen
Help Help Help!!!! Management of Bluefire Reader pls. FIX the delay response time when trying to flip pages. It makes reading a book with a Bluefire Reader a TORTURE😳😱😰😰
  • I like it 5/5

    By -KenB
    I do
  • Infuriating app 2/5

    By Púca
The only thing good I can say is it lets me read books from my library. You can't look up a word! Isn't a book the logical place to look up a word? Every other app can do it, why do they block it? Likewise, you can't copy text. Not a paragraph. Not a sentence. Not a word. Not even a single character. I like what iBooks does, which copies copyright material along with any text you selected to the clipboard. Everybody wins. But this app blocks it all. Since I can't copy a few key sentences to blog about (you know, to give the book publicity), I try to swipe from the right side of the screen to open up the Notes app on my iPad. But go anywhere near the right side of the screen (swipe or tap), and it goes to the next page. Infuriating. On an iPad, you can't do 2-up pages, to make it easy to read. No, you just have to crank the margins way up so that a line of text doesn't have 200 characters in it. This is a huge waste of the 12.9" screen. It does allow you to change the font and linespacing, so that at least is good, although it's about the minimum one would expect from an ebook reader in 2017.
  • Only syncs to Dropbox... 2/5

    By YLC76
This is a no go for me... in 2017 you HAVE to support OneDrive and Google Drive, at the very least.
  • No Backup! 1/5

    By Nickname1x
This is just plain stupid. There's no way to backup downloaded files that have been PURCHASED. Their suggestion that one connect and backup to a computer is technologically SO old!
  • Lost everything 1/5

    By Sm192837465
Lost everything with no warning. For some reason I was only allowed 2 week access although my license allows 180 days. I tried backing up my annotations but was unexpectedly locked out of material at 9:53 pm on date of expiration. No warning given and lost all of my notes and annotations. What a disappointment. App was also slow and glitchy when reading. Avoid if you can!
  • Lousy app. Back up books if you must use. 1/5

    By Fizzicyst
Like another reviewer, lost my library of University of Chicago book-of-the-month downloads--app just stopped working. Less-than-helpful support website advice to just delete app (& data, I.e., books) & reinstall. I have the books backed up on MacBook, but a pita nonetheless. Mediocre reading app, only minimal functionality.
  • Horrible 1/5

    By ListentoAll
Can't open my book because it says it is registered with a different account. I only have ONE Adobe account. Never again.
