Great app 5/5
By Christine AW
After growing up as avid reader, I had stopped reading years ago after graduating from high school. I have maybe 50 to 60 books that I’ve bought throughout the years but never read. This app has helped me get back into reading. I like to see how I’m doing with the goals. And I like unlocking the achievements. After giving up reading 24 years ago, this app has helped me get back into it.
Love it 5/5
Bookly is such a great app to get lots of stats on your reading!
I love this app to be able to keep count of my books and how long I read. Never read so much so far in a year. I wish this app had more ideas. But so far a great app just love it.
10 book limit 4/5
I would gladly watch an app to add more than 10 books.
I think there should be a cap on 10 “currently-reading” books but books that you have read in the past shouldn’t count you’re not collecting data on them.
🤞🏻maybe in the next update?🤞🏻
Simple and yet, robust 5/5
This app has sincerely aided me in my quest to pursue a greater discipline in reading. I’m amazed that all it took was an app that was easy to use, to hold me true to daily reading once more. I had become concerned with my lack of personal reading outside of my post-grad studies; but now, thanks to Bookly, once more I can count myself amongst those who happily read daily. Thank you!
Best reading app 5/5
This is the best app that I’ve used for reading. I like that you can see trends and set goals. It gives you something to work towards. It is reasonably priced and is one of the best apps that I have now.
Amazing!! Five Stars 5/5
I love it. If you are a Book Lover like me then you will love Bookly. You can read books and it will keep track on how fast you read and you can keep up with your favorite quotes in your books. It is a great app.
I love this app so much! It has completely changed the way I read. Sometimes there are random glitches and I won’t get an achievement when I reach a certain goal but that’s rare.
If you are a bibliophile, you need this in your life.
Great info graphics...$30/yr?!!?! Not worth it. 2/5
It’s motivating and kinda fun to learn my reading pace but seriously why are they charging $30/year?!?! That’s insanity for the few functions it provides. If they had a one time $2.99 or $1.99 I’d probably buy it but hell no to a subscription plan for a timer and a log of books. Not worth it.
Great App 4/5
The app is very easy to use and I love the layout. I’ve had some problems with small glitches but nothing that can’t be fixed.👍🏼
Great but the new updates.... 3/5
By Cool piol
I love this application! There are some important improvements that could be fixed though. I have recently noticed that my reading streak went down to a lower number, after I had more than a 175 day streak. I know I have logged pages everyday. Thanks.
Love this app but not allowing transfer of data is a big no from me... 1/5
I love this app so much I was willing to leave behind goodreads tracking... However, there is a huge problem. This app doesn’t allow you to transfer your saved info onto another phone. You can’t sign up for an account, there is no recovery code.
I have switched phones twice since using this app and both times I had to start all over with my books I was currently reading which meant I wasn’t awarded certain stats within the app(like the award for “reading an entire book using this app”).
This app is far from horrible(it’s actually seemed to have helped me read faster!) and I would love if you guys could shed some light on how I might recover previous data from the app. Maybe I’m doing something wrong? I’d love to use Bookly as a full-time tracker.
Edit: I was contacted and told that the app backs up data through iCloud, which is fine but if you’re like me you never have space on iCloud haha. I wish they could backup using codes like Musi does. It’s much simpler.
I also wanted to revisit this review because I downloaded again a few months ago and have been finally realizing why this app just isn’t for me.
I find that logging books is actually a huge pain in this app. With goodreads, if you scan the barcode or punch in your book name, it will come up. I hate that you have to input so many things before you can get reading. Another problem is the pressure this app puts on my reading time. Initially I wanted to use it to see if it was a better alternative to goodreads, but then I got curious about my reading speed. The problem is that there is not a more efficient way to start and stop the timer.
I like the idea of the app but it’s still too clunky for the free version to be worth it. Most of the perks are only available when you pay. In the meantime, goodreads has fixed all of their usability issues and added some really helpful features. That is my opinion, may be different for others but I prefer GR as of now.
No free version 2/5
I love this app and all it’s features, since I’m an avid book reader and love keeping track of what books I read and all the stats associated. However the lack of a free version is disappointing, so I’ll have to move on to other apps. :/
Good but please add a want to read 4/5
I really love this app and it’s caused me to read more, but I really would like a feature where you can make a list of the books you would like to read next, and the check it off when you’ve read it, like on Goodreads
Love it!! 5/5
Ohmigosh. As a bookworm this app is so great. Sometimes on trips I forget to pack my books but this app always comes in handy. I recommend this app to anyone who loves books as much as I do
Love it-lifetime membership? 5/5
I normally don’t write app reviews, but I’m making an exception for Bookly. I love to read and I love this app-it’s made a huge difference in how much I’ve read this year. I purchased the one year membership but hear there’s a lifetime membership option as well. I’ll definitely be purchasing that when mine expires-or now, if I can figure out how to do it!
Very disappointed 1/5
By J Lawz
I asked for Science fiction books and I got everything but that. Classic bait and switch. My guess is they are pushing what they get commissions on.
Waste of time if you want a specific genre.
Not optimized for iPad 4/5
Great app, BUT... NOT optimized for the iPad! Please change this soon...
Crashes on latest update 3/5
I start to use the app with latest update and at random it just crashes whenever I pick back up on reading later. Have to repeatedly delete and restore everything
Love app but latest update crashes 1/5
Love the app and have been upgraded to Pro for 2 years; however, since most recent update I cannot open the app without it crashing. Have iPhone 6 with latest iOS installed. Please fix!
Beautiful app, but lacking without pro 3/5
Out of all of the reading trackers I have tried, this one is by far the best. The layout makes the app simple and easy to use and I particularly love the feature that tells you how much you will need to read each day to finish the book. With all that being said, the company really beats you over the head with the pro version, every time you open the app, an ad for the pro version pops up and there are a whole slew of features that are only available on pro. My biggest issue with this is that it is a monthly subscription to pro($25 per year when most “pro” apps are a $10 one time payment at the most). I would be much more willing to buy pro if it were a one time payment.
Love this app! 5/5
I love it. It’s highly motivating and super easy to adopt this new method of tracking before and after reading. However, the latest update will launch the app and immediately crash it. Can’t log anything. Hope I don’t lose my stats.
No More Distractions! 5/5
By Harley Bear Book Blog
I’m a big fan of BookTube, Bookstagram, Book Twitter, you name it! But those things can be very distracting when I’m trying to read. I tell myself I’ll just scroll for a minute and 2 hours later I’m lost in the black hole that is social media. Since using the Bookly app, I’ve been able to stop that behavior. Since the app tracks my time spent reading, I feel like when that stopwatch is going I have to be truly reading. Which means I’m halfway through the year and I’ve read more than I did last year already.
As a Ravenclaw who loves recording random personal stats, I really enjoy the infographics feature. I use the quotes feature to nerd out and track words I come across that I don’t know and want to look up later. The thoughts section helps me organize notes for my Book Club discussions as well. And since I don’t like annotating in my actual books, I don’t need to carry around an extra notebook because I always have my phone and this app with me.
And my final reason for rating this app 5 stars is that I am a fan of the company. I always see them interacting with the bookish community on bookstagram and have only had positive experiences.
So if you’re looking for an app to help you focus on reading, organize your thoughts, and track some cool stats, I highly recommend this app!
Wish I could get suggestions without getting pro😕
Exceptional and Constantly Innovating 5/5
I originally downloaded Bookly because I needed a simple app to keep track of my reading. Bookly delivered above and beyond. From tracking my reading with an easy to use interface to helping me keep a better reading schedule with reminders and goals Bookly beat all my exceptions. Even more impressive is how Bookly’s team is continuing to refine existing functionality and add new features with each update. This is the only app you’ll have to download for your reading needs.
Good but hard to save notes 4/5
The app is great to motivate you to read regularly and track progress. Only complaint is I had trouble logging new vocab words and quotes because the submit button is behind the keyboard. Keyboard doesn’t have a submit button or collapse when you press elsewhere.
v1.9 crashes on iPhone 7 Plus 2/5
This is a great app.
But the new update crashes on launch on my iPhone 7 Plus running the most resent iOS.
Can’t log progress.
Excited to see what changes have been made.
Simple. Beautiful. Effective. 5/5
By Pass for now
Love this app from the day that I got it. The UI makes it easy to use the app and really stay motivated to read more. If you’re looking for a book tracking app there is no better than this.
Pretty good app 1/5
I like this because it’s an easy way to keep track of my reading and to encourage me to read more.
There are a couple of things I would change. Mostly in the “oops, operator error” category.
1) If a button is accidentally pushed to start reading another book after finishing a book, there is no way to undo the start reading. As I frequently have multiple books this has happened 3 times. The app requires that the page I’m on is a higher number. I know this doesn’t sound like much, but the book it keeps opening is a workbook!
2) If I forget to hit STOP and go to bed; I end up having read for 7-8 hours while sleeping! I wish there were a way to adjust the timer so I could reflect actual reading time and progress. As it is, I “finish” the book and just read on my own time.
Aside from those two operator error issues, I enjoy this app.
Semes nice 5/5
By lover 234
It seems nice but when I try and read it doesn’t work help?
Used to love 1/5
After I tried this app for a few books I was hooked so I bought the Pro version of the app. Then a few months later the developers are "happy to announce" that they are moving to a subscription model instead. There was no grandfathering those of us that not the Pro version of the app. At that point I stopped using the app. What was the point of purchasing the Pro version of you were going to offer a subscription service?
My favorite reading app 5/5
I have pro and it’s amazing
Access my photos without permission 1/5
This is a awesome app! 5/5
Helps me read easily.
Great app with one issue 4/5
Loving the app so far. Great UI and easy to use. My favorite book/reading-tracking app that I’ve found. Only issue I have is when adding books I’ve already read. When I select “read in the past,” I am unable to click “save book.” The text “all fields and book cover are editable and required” is over the “save book” button. Really hope this can get addressed because I’d love to add the books I already read this year before having this app
Help me plzzzzz 3/5
I have used this for not even a day yet and when I go to put in a book I have already read and I use the button read in the past then the button that says save book won’t let me save the book
Unique app in its genre 4/5
By L. Burn
Thanks for all your effort.
Do you mind please if you can you add the timer and countdown on the lock screen. In fact, it's a little bit painful to unlock every time the phone to pause/resume the reading session.
Highly recommended 5/5
Awesomely is what it should be called
We stan a queen
Good tool, love the pictures. We need a Green New Deal to combat the terror climate change will create.
love this but one suggestion 4/5
love this app, organizes my books in a great way and lets me review them whilst reading. the only thing i wish is that it was easier to add a book to a collection once i enter it into the app. maybe make a tab in the book or under “edit book” let us add it to a collection because right now we have to go to the collection and scroll down and find the book within all our other ones. other than this, it’s a great app!
also, one question: is there a way to reread a book that has already been stated as completed?
Worth It! 4/5
This app is perfect to keep record of any books you have read. I’ve never before been able to accurately track the books I read in x amount of hours. I love it!
Seems good 5/5
Will give it a go
By love dobby😁
It won’t even let me read the books. It’s irritating that there are really good reviews for something that doesn’t work :(
This app has really helped me get back into enjoying reading!
Beautiful App! 4/5
By Mr. Runfola
I don’t usually leave reviews for apps, but this app has such a beautiful and pleasant user interface, that I just had to! The features are all nicely and intuitively laid out such that nobody should have any issues navigating the app. The fonts and colors are easy on the eyes, and some of the features are amazing (my favorite is the ability to add your favorite quotes from the book). Occasionally, the app does have difficulty finding a book or its cover art even when using the ISBN number.
My only major gripe about the app is the lock screen widget which displays books that you have added to your library. When you tap a book, it opens the app (you have to unlock your phone first) and takes you to the book you tapped. From there you can view stats and all the other features, including starting, pausing, or stopping the timer. I feel the widget would be much more useful if tapping a book let you start, pause, or stop the timer, rather than having to open the app for such a simple operation (or even start/pause/stop directly from the lock screen). This, and the ISBN lookup issue, are why I am giving this app three stars.
Based on the developer’s response of having considered the widget timer feature I suggested, but being unable to due to limitations beyond their control, I have changed my rating from 3 to 4 stars.
I really like app, just wish they made a version for the iPad without it shrinking to the tiny mobile version
I. Love. It. 5/5
Awsome!!!! Don't even pay, it's good already!!!!
You can’t read 1/5
By thais rubio
I tried to read and it doesn’t work the e books or the aodeo book don’t work ether so don’t waste your time
