  • Really like this app 5/5

    By snowdivayo
I really like this app. I use it more as a to be read list keeper so I really appreciate that I haven’t came across a cap for the number of titles you can have (I am at 230 so far with more being added every day).
  • Everything I was looking for! 5/5

  • Handy Reading App 5/5

    By monday731
Bookshelf is a simple way to make a list of books. You are supposed to list books on your To Be Read list and keep track of your progress, but I use the app to keep lists of all the books I read by year. The app lets you choose the exact cover of the book you read which is pretty and brings to mind the book as you remember it. The only thing I dislike is that they sometimes change the cover you have chosen, apparently when that cover of the book is out of print. I find the app very useful because it is on my phone and so is always nearby. I can instantly list a book as I finish it and that way I am less likely to miss or forget a title.
  • Easy to use 5/5

    By seagraves22
So easy to setup a bookshelf and scan in books. This lets me easily see my TBR, and where books are in my shelves.
  • Great for organizing books and keeping track of a large collection 5/5

Love it, I tell all my book ish friends to get it
  • Great 5/5

    By TAleksandraT
I’ve been looking for an app like this for so long but all of them you can only add 30 books before it wants you to pay or you have to buy the app. It’s great for me because I don’t have to pay for it as well as it helps me keep track of all my books and keep them organized
  • Beautiful 5/5

    By juliiebabiie
This app is beautiful. I’ve been looking for one that is simple enough to use efficiently, yet has many options. I love being able to make different shelves for borrowed books, or for books I read as part of a book club. I like that I can keep track of how many pages I’ve read and what date I started and finished reading the book. You can keep track of how many copies you have, whether your book is signed or not, when and where you bought it, and for how much. I also really like the search bar function when I’m at a book store and a title sounds so familiar but I can’t remember if I have it or not. With a few quick taps, I can check if the book is in my collection or needs to be added. This app is perfect.

  • The latest version broke the app 1/5

    By Chillyniftycone
The latest version upgrade broke the app. My bookshelves haven’t loaded for the last week. Even though I have great wifi and all other apps are working, Bookshelf keeps erroring out with a “no connection” message. I have deleted and reloaded the App 3 times with no luck. There is no way to find out what’s going on or reach the developer.
  • Everything Goodreads can’t deliver 5/5

    By Edaya
Love this app and all the different ways you can organize your books. I will say I wish you could sort your wishlist based on your own ranking of which books you want to definitely get next and etc.
  • Rave review. 5/5

    By SouthernTied
The absolute best book tracking app I’ve ever used. I have far to many physical books and no other app could handle them. I love this app.
  • Highly recommend 5/5

    By Aerowattson
If you are an avid book or manga collector, this is the perfect app to help keep organized with. It helps you keep track of what you have read or need to read and even allows you to put notes for if you loan it out and to who.
  • Comment 2/5

    By Latina police
All I can say is that using the app can be confusing and difficult to maneuver
  • Valuable source 5/5

    By Moji Mama
This app is so great to have when I go thrifting. To be able to see if I own a book that I don’t remember is fabulous. I used to buy duplicates by accident all the time. Not anymore!!
  • Looks promising, but can’t register 4/5

    By jjjjjjjjoooohhhhhnnnn
The app looks very promising for what I need, but unfortunately I can’t get past the registration screen. I put in my email address, a ‘Next’ button shows up, but pressing it does nothing. iPhone 8+, iOS 16.2. Update: was able to get into app by skipping initial registration, and then choosing registration from app menu worked.
  • Best Book Tracking App! 5/5

    By jbgxe
I wanted an app to track books I’ve read as well as books I abandoned. I tried probably 10 other apps, and none of them had the capability to mark books as “not finished” without also marking them as read. Such a simple feature that’s surprisingly hard to find. Thank you to this developer for a simple, beautiful app! Even better is the entire app is free - no limit on books saved like many other apps. THANK YOU!
  • Bookshelf Fun 5/5

  • Works for me 5/5

    By dclxvispqr
In the process of recataloging 2600+ books. I had been using an old Microsoft database program that isn’t supported any longer and won’t run on Windows 10. This new program runs on my iPad and so far — I am about 10% through the library — it is working great. Other apps I have tried had annoying popups urging me to upgrade and some just couldn’t handle the mass of data. I get the feeling that the designer of this app has a large personal library and knows the issues. The export feature is capable of generating a text-only version of the catalogue, which will be useful to me in future. I would like to see a field for Library of Congress number that would search the web the same way the ISBN function does. Edited to add: Quite disappointed that you have monetized a previously standard feature, specifically the ability to choose a cover picture from an online selection. The app is still working well for me but it’s a shame that you have to charge for a useful feature. UPDATE 2/9/2023 — this app is still working magnificently, has exceeded my expectations, and my cataloguing project is rolling along. I have a lot of older books from pre-ISBN and pre-barcode days but the scanner works well for newer books. I wish that Wi-Fi connection wasn’t needed to search the collection on my iPad. When I go to a bookstore with no Wi-Fi I can’t search my catalog to check for duplicates. That is a minor point. I suppose if I were more of a 21st Century man I could use my phone to create a hotspot. No smartphone here, just the iPad. I can search my downloaded export file (which I have done) but scrolling through 3000 entries is not fun. Still, this is the best catalog app by far.
  • An excellent book organizer! 5/5

    By TinCan1209
Simple, elegant, and easy to use. I only wish there were an option to enter just the year of an item’s publication in addition to the combinations of month/day/year that are already present.
  • So handy 5/5

    By CarolCola8
I buy about 4 to 8 books a month. Using the app helps me keep track of books I have read Since many books are part of a series, I don’t always remember titles of earlier books and have bought the same book twice. The app is easy to check titles before I buy or start reading. Thanks!
  • Such a great app! 5/5

    By AQ0646
Nothing is worse than buying a book only to realize you already own it. I wanted this app to keep track of my physical library as well as my kindle library. It does everything I want it to!
  • Love it, best one out there 5/5

    By Ms. Lakes
This app has everything I was looking for. Mainly it’s FREE which none of the others are. It has limitless books which all the others hold no more than 10 unless you pay. You can rate the books, store the dates you read them, how many pages, etc. it collects all the data I want, it’s simple and free. I love it!!!
  • Love it! 5/5

    By BRGraves
I absolutely love this app. I own over a thousand books and I always wanted to be able to catalogue them and track what I own. This has been awesome!
  • Solid App 5/5

    By DragNamedRaz
Very good app. No paywalls, and you can use stock photos of your book cover, which was a plus for me
  • Freedom in the Tracks 5/5

    By C_R_Hammett
I’m not a heavy user of apps on the phone, but I have grown, especially fond of bookshelf. Being a free app, it had the potential to be something not too sturdy, but that has not been the case as I have used over the past four months because I have a way to log where I am in several books without using random bookmarks, although I still have them, my reading habit has been stronger and consistent because of using this app. I’ve already recommended it to many friends and even a few strangers who also like to read so if you don’t already have it, download it and enjoy your reading journey, the title of this review is in reference to trains the train is powerful, but I can’t go anywhere without its respective tracks. Therefore, this app becomes the “tracks” needed for your powerful reading train!
  • Best book categorizer out there! 5/5

    By KDubbs99
Best book categorizer out there! Works for multiple bookshelves! Love it!
  • Perfect for Manga 5/5

    By Aj072076
I use this to track my manga collection and it is perfect. Now when I go to the book store I know which book I’m up to. Easy to scan and organize.
  • Excellent 5/5

    By Pookybear259
Extremely easy to use and has saved me from buying many books more than once.
  • Love this app! 4/5

    By f tvb5$
I love this app to keep track of my reading progress and see which books I have. The only thing I don’t like about this app is the last two books I have read, the number of pages it says in the info is not correct to the book. I would love if this was fixed bc I would have no isssues!
  • Best app i’ve ever used 5/5

    By Honey-Hannie
I’ve been using this app for a while now about a year or two and I love it so much!! I can set the filter to show only my unread books and it’s so useful because It helps me concentrate on reading my unread books. Another thing I love are the tags and the separate bookshelves you could have. I’m a manga reader so I have separate shelves for my mangas and my regular books and it’s very convenient!
  • Best app ever 5/5

    By Hayhayyy16
Absolutely love this for keeping up with what we have already so we don’t end up with doubles like we used to.
  • Best book recording app! 5/5

I have been looking for an app that can just be user friendly and simple. I have tried many other apps but bookshelf is my favorite. From the batch scanning to the user-friendly interface, I enjoy it and recommend it to others.
  • Great app! 5/5

This app is perfect for keeping up with your personal library. It’s easy to use and the only suggestion I have is for it to be available on a Windows PC as well.

  • Easy to use and helpful 5/5

    By J. S. D.
I like scanning my books in, I buy a lot and use to buy more than one of a book and now I have my bookshelf digitally so I can check and make sure I don’t already have it before purchasing it 🙂
  • Literally Perfect - Love this App!!! 5/5

    By Jordy17
The design and structure of this book inventory app are exactly what I needed for my library!! The ISBN search feature is what I use most to quickly add new books, and I love all the additional details that help further identify each book. I also really love to filter by read or unread books to see how much of my library I’ve read. Thank you for this beautiful gift of an app!!
